This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking For An Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Sorry if it's come up before, but if a trope page is No Real Life Examples, Please!, should that include the page quote? I only ask because in Image Pickin' the trope Misanthrope Supreme has come up, and the quote's from a real person.
(Annoyed grunt)"Blackmail" Is Such an Ugly Word and "X" Makes Anything Cool both have the same quote, on top of having potholes in the quote (each linking to the other page I mentioned here, funnily enough).
I suggest

Link to TRS threads in project mode here. They might be trying to do the same thing as Hello! My Name Is Inigo Montoya You Killed My Father Prepare to Die
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!After the latest Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer, I've thought about changing the quote to something spoken by both of the title characters, especially since Marvel keeps calling the movie Hope's story. (If we wanted to post this one, I'd double check for accuracy first.)
- Scott: I'll go high, you go low.
Hope: I have wings! Why would I go low?
Should I remove the quote from Misanthrope Supreme, then?
(Annoyed grunt)The main quote for Bullying a Dragon and on the Quotes page for the Live Action Film is the same.
Shouldn't the front page one be the quote he says to the Hulk?
The quote on Killed Off for Real doesn't seem to illustrate the trope.
That's partly because it isn't an example. We have Final Death for videogame characters that die in cutscenes when they usually get resurrected during gameplay.
There's a severe misuse problem with Killed Off for Real, where people use it for All Deaths Final. I'd say the only good quote in the subpage is the comicbook mantra.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I'm almost entirely sure that Final Death is "avoidable but irreversible character death", not "character dies in a cutscene when you could have resurrected them during gameplay". Are you thinking of Plotline Death?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.ugh, I think I was tired and only read the first paragraph. Yeah, you're right.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Okay, I'm going to wait three more days for a response. If no-one responds in the negative I'm going to make my suggestion the page quote for The Mob Boss Is Scarier. I'm saying this because I know you guys appreciate forthrightness.
The Mob Boss Is Scarier: I don't think your quote or the current quote really address the criminal component of the trope. They could just as easily be about two potential dictators.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I prefer the proposed quote to the current quote.
Well, there is that. But does it have to be about criminals? I feel like it could be flexed a little to accommodate any instance where people would rather do something drastic than defy their Bad Boss. Besides, I don't see anyone proposing something that actually involves crime, so why not?
Thanks. Only found it after wiki-ing around on baldursgate.wikia.com for a while.
Well, we're at an impasse then. Either you go dig up a replacement page quote that involves criminality or the trope description should be changed to accommodate the existing one and/or my suggestion. If I were an administrator, that's what I would do. Alas...
Change a trope description to fit a quote? No. Remove the damn quote? Yes.
No quote > bad quote
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!And here I thought tropes on this site could be adjusted. I was not under the impression they could never change, even in small ways.
But whatever, that's not what really cheeses me off. That'd be that no one responded until I declared my intention to actually do something with the quote. What's the point of bringing a quote to this thread for consideration if no one's going to say anything about it unless direct action is threatened? I can blink and all of a sudden the Complete Monster thread has gained three new pages, but this one? Sloooooow off the mark. You can't give me flak for not consulting this thread before changing page quotes, then ignore my suggestions when I do bring them here.
Tropes can be adjusted, but only if they have problems with the examples. A page quote isn't even necessary to the trope (a lot of tropes don't have page quotes), and changing the trope definition for its sake is plain silly.
Sorry I don’t check the thread every 5 minutes, maybe every 5 days
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!The page quote for Being Watched doesn't seem like it illustrates the trope very well without context. I feel like one of the options from the quote page would be a better fit; these two are my favorites personally:
Somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy
The quote for Born as an Adult is really long and doesn't fit very well.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢The quote in Purple Eyes seems to be based on a Meme and is irrelevant to the trope (simply having purple eyes is not a trope)
I have a quote suggestion for The Mob Boss Is Scarier. Not sure if it's a worthy replacement for the page quote or should just go on the quotes page though.
Penny for everyone's thoughts?
