As a redirect, I mean. At 630 wicks, this is pretty well used, and I've never actually seen it as "fairy in a bottle."
This, like The Mario, is one of those tropes that I wish had enough misuse to be renamed.
We're probably going to have to settle for redirect farming.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI don't like the fact that it has the same name as a work either. The work has a lot more Google hits.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAh, now that I didn't know. We might actually need a rename, in that case.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyOkay, yeah, if its the name of a work, we might be able to get away with a rename. I still like the current one, but if we can come up with a good replacement, then I'm on board. Though we'll still need a single-prop crowner on the subject.
The first ten pages on Google are ALL for the work.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThere is now a single proposition rename crowner for this trope here. I am a bit concerned about renaming something with so many wicks, but I think the series is associated more with this name than the trope is. I also agree that the current name is unclear.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dCrowner up and hooked.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI thought it was a pre-existing term.
But I can't find anything on it.
I don't think it's that bad of a term.
She drinks a a lot and usually takes on the role of "fairy helper" for the main character, (albeit usually of the Stop Helping Me kind- possibly because she's drunk).
I think that it would be a better name if it didn't share a name with a work. And we can be clearer. Happy Drunk Girl is clearer and is the majority of the trope right there. The relationship with the hero isn't needed.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIsn't sharing the name with a work (that's not named after the trope) grounds for an automatic rename? Do we need a single-prop crowner here?
It generally is, but this one is very well established, and at least deserves a crowner.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI've gotten used to this name, but I've never really liked it, especially since I knew about the series before I came here. Definitely supporting a rename since it shares a name with a work.
A quick trip to the other wiki confirms that not only is Bottle Fairy an Anime, it's the only definition they've got.

Fight smart, not fair. The other wiki doesn't generally catalog common phrases, but I checked Wiktionary (which does) and also got no results.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I've kind of got used to the name, but it's probably best to rename. It's a snowclone of the work title (which it has nothing to do with), and judging by what people are showing in this thread, this expression doesn't seem to exist off the wiki.
Drunk Party Girl? Still missing something...
I'm familiar with the phrase bottle fairy. We've brought this up before, it's a phrase in circulation. Google searches are surely going to be biased towards a work because it looks for how things get cross-referenced right? But it's not a global phrase so the best thing for us is to probably look for conflict. Sample the wicks, check for proportion of "lack of namespacing".
Well T Vtropes isnt the first time I have heard the term Bottle Fairy I have heard it plenty of times to describe Kitsune in Love Hina and Yukari in Azumanga Daioh etc.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Holy shit.
This is the most surprising result I've ever dealt with. I, because this is something that I figured would be helped by some statistics, so I went and got a random number generator to get me forty numbers and went through them.
I didn't find one reference to the work. I didn't even find one misuse for a literal fairy in a bottle. I thought I did. There was a literal fairy in a bottle. But then I remembered that the fairy in the bottle is the personification of Absinthe and she's a party girl who ends up totally drunk.
Now according to this confidence interval calculator, we are 99% certain that we won't be finding the actual result to be more than 4 off.
Here's the data in the next post.
- Cordon Bleugh Chef-"In canon, the reason is implied to be a combination of Misato's Bottle Fairy nature"
- Dont Go In The House-"Bottle Fairies: Suzanne and Patty."
- Boisterous Bruiser-Excellen Browning is somewhere between being a Boisterous Bruiser and a Bottle Fairy.
- Jersey Shore- drunken, steroid-fueled party kids and Bottle Fairies...
- Spice and Wolf
- Rival Schools-She really loves her sake.
- My Lovely Ghost Kana-Other than Dakichi, there's not much more that Kana likes more than a cold beer.
- Wethe You-Bottle Fairy: Future Norwood and Future Hammy.
- Manic Pixie Dream Girl:Fay in Flowers for Algernon.
- Egyptian Mythology: Bottle Fairy: Hathor, at times.
- Revenant Three:Loves her drinks, handles her alcohol well
- Scandinavia and the World
- Characters/Mnemosyne
- Mistaken for Dying:the characters think Yukiji is going to quit as a teacher
- Hammerspace Suika Ibuki's treasured magical gourd, which never gets empty of sake.
- A-Cup Angst Ninjette's cheerily drunken confession to Empowered
- What Did I Do Last Night? Happens several times to Sandra in Ménage à 3
- Status Quo Is God by party loving Youkai.
- Characters/Persona2 Ulala Serizawa
- Kanamemo Bottle Fairy — Haruka
- The King Of Queens-Holly
- AxisPowersHentalia.Neither Holy Nor Roman Nor Empire-A quite popular fanon rendition of Belgium, based on how her land is among the biggest beer producers in the world.
- Dragonage Origins Non Playable Characters-Shianni
- Impure Blood- work's page
- Hello Project:There have been several instances where Yasuda Kei and especially Nakazawa Yuko are accused of being like this
- The Black Sand Bar:Anita, who constantly wakes up in the middle of the bar with a hangover,
- Hollywood Hype Machine:About Lindsay Lohan: chronic partying and drug/alcohol abuse
- Aoi-Shiro:Aoi-sensei
- Moulin Rouge- this is the one about the Absinthe fairy
- Characters.Samurai Champloo-Osen
- BlazBlue:she has a body, an outfit, and a personality like that
- "Get Back Here!" Boss:has Yuugi Hoshiguma sit there onscreen,
- Characters/Mahoraba:Megumi Momono
- Kujibiki Unbalance : work page
- Naked First Impression:Does not usually count if done to another character, like the Bottle Fairy, who will help defuse the incident as a natural mistake
- Work Hard, Play Hard:You're surprised to see him break open the alcohol,
- Pearl Before Swine:A turtle who never leaves his shell. Drinks from a beer bong into it.
- Elemental Doom :Meina
- Aborted Declaration of Love Yukiji seems to realize this, but uses her Bottle Fairy personality to play with his mind
So, to recap, pre-existing phrase, caught on like wildfire, massively to infinitely outnumbers references to the work, no reason to rename.
Well thats really good there. (Want to edit that into the crowner?)
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Misuse is not the problem. The problem is that there's a work called that, and the term is better-known for the work than for the trope.
Also, aren't usage statistics generally put under "neutral?"

Infinite Tree: an experimental story
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
When googling "Bottle Fairy" the first ten pages are all about a completely unrelated anime series. It doesn't seem to be a pre-existing term (save for maybe referring fairies in bottles). The title isn't the clearest if you don't know what it is, and it has no more searchable redirects.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
