I just cleaned up Every Helicopter Is a Huey. Most of the examples I removed were borderline Zero Context Examples, stating nothing more than "work features a Huey" without explaining how or why a Huey shouldn't be used in that context; in most of those examples — as the description explains — there is no reason a Huey shouldn't be used anyway.

Also, the description listed several works featuring a different helicopter.

I just moved the exceptions section from Evil Chancellor to The Good Chancellor. Or rather, the examples that weren't already listed on the latter.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim needs a lot of work. It's full of natter and This Troper, which I don't think are allowed on Fridge pages any more than on other page (apart from Headscratchers).

Yeah, they're not allowed. They happen on Fridge pages because peole confuse them with Headscratchers. Why not just move them there?

Most of them wouldn't really fit in Headscratchers. Also, there's a lot of stuff to deal with there, which is why I brought it up here. Hopefully someone who cares about Skyrim's lore more than I do will want to look at it.

May want to look into Fridge.Super Mario Bros.

Contains: First person, a bit of natter, and some signing (which is no longer a thing in fridge pages). There may be other stuff, like the Fridge Logic entry being in the form of a headscratcher.

ImprobableWeaponUser.Video Games needs to be looked at. Removed an instance of natter and adjusted an example so it doesn't rely on another...only to see additional natter in other places, general indentation issues (there's even an instance of characters from different series grouped around a common weapon), and a work lacking a link to its page and italics.

I could look into some of it, but I'm not on a device that would simplify this. I may resolve a natter issue and the missing link, but the rest will require work that I cannot do at the moment.

Game Theory (Lyrical Nanoha) is a bit of a trainwreck, and I haven't finished reading the fic so I don't want to dive into what is surely a minefield of spoilers. (Indeed, a quick skim suggests that overuse of spoiler tags is one of its problems...)

Lately I've been working on binge-cleaning up pages for TV Shows, because almost every one I've come across has had some issues, mostly in the form of ZC Es and bad indentation. Here are some on my list, if anyone wants to hop in before I do: Every Witch Way, Zoey 101, The Amanda Show and Sam & Cat.

The Deader Than Disco page somehow ended up with folders that, after going through the list of work types, repeat partially beginning with a duplicate “Advertising” folder. Seems to have been caused by a separation between in-universe and meta examples that no longer is present.

Trolling Creator needs a cleanup bad. There are too many examples equating a creator displaying a sense of humor or not being able please everyone, with trolling. Some highlights of things I'm familiar with, some of which I've already deleted:

  • Tite Kubo's tendency for "Plotkai" as fans call it in Bleach has given him the title of trolling god via Memetic Mutation. For some, Kubo may be on his way to graduating from Trolling Creator to Magnificent Bastard, considering how many people complain or bitch about Bleach and yet they keep reading it no matter what. He also admitted in interviews that the reason he gave Hisagi a "69" tattoo on his face is because he wanted a Double Entendre that parents would too embarrassed to explain to their kids. He's also said that he responds to online character-bashing by increasing the page time for the characters being bashed.

The first half of this is a Zero Context Example. It sounds like they consider him a troll just because he can't please everyone.

  • Naruto:
    • He trolled the shipping fandom again (specifically the Sasuke/Karin shippers who suggested that Sarada was in reality Karin's daughter) in the Post-Script Season Naruto Gaiden, with the revelation that Sarada could actually be Sasuke and Karin's daughter and not Sakura's, he even added a scene of a DNA test to confirm this causing the fandom to explode... but then in the end it was revealed that Sakura was indeed Sarada's biological mother all along. With this, Kishimoto's status of troll is fully confirmed.
    • A non-shipping example would be the fight with Pain. Several minor characters, even Kakashi, end up dying in the fight (with the latter even meeting his father in the afterlife), then Hinata gets a chapter that plays out like A Death in the Limelight. Then Kishimoto plays with Hinata only having a mortal wound instead of being instantly fatal, playing a B-plot during Naruto's fight with the other Ninja's trying to reach and heal Hinata before she completely bleeds out. Hinata is saved shortly before Naruto wins, then Kishimoto springs the trap: Pain gives his life to resurrect everyone he killed in the battle, making nearly all that drama pointless. Very few moments, mostly in story structure, hinted at what he was about to pull off.

So because he trolled the fandom with one ship, he must be trolling with another ship? The second one is just complaining about bad writing.

  • George Lucas is often believed to be this. Especially after his claim that "Greedo always shot first."

After looking into this, he was simply defending the infamous edit of Episode IV. For this creator who's allegedly believed to be a troll, the only thing they could scrounge up to support this statement is something that's not even a troll.

Nothing in the Smash Bros. section was a troll thing.

  • At the end of the reveal, Sakurai explains that their main focus was making sure every fighter from the previous games returned, "so [they]'re kind of hoping you aren't expecting too many new challengers". So far, including Echo Fighters, they've announced eight new characters for the game, so your mileage on how much of a cheeky statement that was depends on how many characters one expected. And he said that line immediately before revealing that Ridley had finally been Promoted to Playable.

He was telling the truth. The base game of Ultimate introduced less newcomers than Sm4sh, and as the entry admits, a large chunk of that was clones, which are now common knowledge to not take much effort to make. He was just warning us up-front of a downside to adding every fighter from every game. Even if he was lying, wouldn't it actually be the polar opposite of trolling? He would be pleasantly surprising everyone and he'd know it. It was also written before the entire roster was revealed, so it's automatically assuming that there will be lots of newcomers, which of course didn't turn out to be the case.

  • King K. Rool's reveal trailer had a Bait-and-Switch on both the Kongs and the audience by making it seem like K. Rool's appearance was just King Dedede was playing a prank... before the actual K. Rool shows up to knock the laughing penguin out of frame. Doubly an example of this, as Dedede is voiced by Sakurai himself.

This one just makes my head hurt. How are you coming to the conclusion that any part of this is trolling?

  • And in the final Nintendo Direct before the game's release, Sakurai announced a free extra DLC character for early adopters... (drum roll) ... the Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros. That's right, kids — forget the badass protagonists, musclebound fighters, or world-shattering beasts, the bonus for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a potted plant.

This is completely wrong. Sakurai said he adds characters like Piranha Plant because a roster of only main characters would be boring. He just wanted a character that he thought would be fun. He doesn't do it to troll people.

I think the Beauty and the Beast YMMV page could use some cleanup.

I noticed an Alternate Aesop Interpretation about the story being about AIDS. I tried to add onto it to explain how this theory doesn't really work well and has unfortunate implications, but frankly I think it should be removed entirely.

Some other sections are rather long and nattery as well.

On Sentinels of the Multiverse — Heroes, the description and trope context for character Guise is written in a self-demonstrating way, as if the character spoke himself.

Personally I dislike it. I get it's a stylistic choice, but it looks too much like This Troper.

Should this be re-written?

Debut: Guise mini-expansion

Hello TV Tropes!

Hey everyone. Guise here. And I am the best hero in literally all of everything. Sure, I used to be a simple tabloid reporter (lies, all lies!) but I knew that I, Guise, was destined to be the best hero ever!

I've got two alternate forms, too! Santa Guise brings the joy of Gift-Mas to the battlefield, while Completionist Guise owns every single promo of every single hero!

  • Achilles' Heel: Psst. Don't tell the bad guys, but my deck kinda falls apart if I can't get a good card churn or something stops me from playing; all my Ongoings explode after a turn, and they're most of what keeps me operating, so I need to keep replacing them when they get taken out!
  • Air Guitar: I don't actually do this, but my player can do this on Let Me See That... Cool effect too.
  • Anti-Hero: Okay, look, I keep saving the day, got it? Sure, I'm not a saint, but who is? (Stupid Legacy and his boy scout antics...)
  • Armor Piercing: When I'm X-Treeeeeme any damage I do is Irreducible, and can't be redirected as a fringe benefit!
  • Attack Deflector: Inverted! My X-Treeeeme card prevents my damage from being redirected! Also grants my attacks Armor Piercing!
    • As for playing it straight, when I'm a Total Beefcake I can redirect damage to the villains!
  • Attention Whore: Whoa! How'd this get here? Rude.
  • Back from the Dead: Okay, so the official story on paper is that I got crushed by some debris when Wager Master said hi, and the residual implausibility from said debris transferred into me.
    • Also, I kind of sort of turned into a puddle of sludge during Oblivaeon but then the Scholar, My hero, saved me and now I’m back and better than ever.
  • Badass Santa: When the other holidays declare war on Christmas, it's up to me to save the day! As usual.
  • Berserk Button: Wager Master really ticked me off by putting his drink on my table without a coaster! He makes stuff float! He had half a dozen things floating next to him right then!
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: I love doing that. Heck, I'm doing it right now! Look, I'm still doing it! (Christopher and Adam say that I'm just delusional and think I'm in a comic book, but who listens to those guys anyway?)
  • Character Development: I was awesome before, but I got even better after hanging with the Scholar for a while!
  • Combos: Basically the entire point of my deck, especially with my standard variant (which can play extra cards with its power), is to come up with absurd antics involving nailing my stuff together in destructive ways and possibly borrowing stuff from everyone else: Guise the Barbarian with Blatant Reference for heavy damage, for example, or sweeping the field by grabbing Mr Fixer's Jack Handle or Dual Crowbars and then chaining Best Card Ever into Hey, Look What I Found, or spamming cards by copying Requital Captain Cosmic's power, or cloning Legacy's field to double up on buffs and make Heroic Interception team-wide...
  • Chest Insignia: Which can change to suit my mood and shape. Which is good because, as you might have noticed, No Mouth over here.
  • Composite Character: A few gents named Deadpool (wearing tights, talking to you fine folks), The Mask (changing up my wardrobe with the occasional trip into Hammerspace, and Plastic Man (yeah, I stretch, and maybe didn't lead the noblest life, although it's not like I was a criminal) may immediately spring to mind, but apparently I'm actually an homage to some guy named Ambush Bug. He liked TV too, I guess. Never heard of him? Didn't think so. This mask looks better in my colors anyway.
  • Ditto Fighter: In my own unique and incredibly good-smelling way: I've got my own unique abilities (all of them awesome), but my cards like "I Can Do That Too!", "Let Me See That...", "Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy!" let me (respectively) imitate my teammates powers, steal their equipment, or copy all their ongoings for a round! (And in case you're wondering, copying teamwide buffs like Legacy's "Galvanize" and Ra's "Imbued Fire" allows them to stack. No need to thank me.)
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Pssh, what's this doing here? Don't listen to that Christopher guy! Everybody loves having me around!
  • Meaningful Name: "Guise," as in "disguise" or "mask". Get it?
    • My pre-Guise name was Joe King. Bet someone thought that was really funny...
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Some may accuse me of selling out, but can you blame me? I gotta have all the best swag! You should check out my awesome Ninja Pirate Zombie Fanboy IN SPACE getup! It's pretty awesome! Complete with this awesome shirt and this AMAZING plushie!
  • No Mouth: I mean, you can sort of see the shape of it through my mask.
  • Power Copying: My best trick is to borrow cards in play and sometimes the powers of my lackeys I mean fellow heroes for a turn!
  • Purple Is Powerful: Yes, yes it is.
  • Rogues Gallery: My Nemeses are Wager Master, a blue space gnome with a gambling addiction, Argentium, some silent metal blob man thing, Cueball, who hangs out on the World's Largest Pool Table and has a head shaped like guess what, and the Green Grosser, a green-skinned nut who rigs fruit to explode and declared war on Christmas. Why do I get all the weirdos, anyway?
  • Shout-Out: One of my hobbies:
    • Guise the Barbarian!
      • Crush your enemies, drive them before you, and LAMINATE THEIR WOMEN!
    • Mr. Fixer wants me to stop asking if he wants me to wax on, wax off. I still ask him anyway.
    • I also like to make the occasional blatant reference to Samuel L Coolguy. SAY WHAT AGAIN!
    • And then this one time I turned into Gene Simmons and played Freebird on the Argent Adept's Lyra! (Which is actually a lute. I still don't know why he INSISTS on calling it that...)
    • Oh, and don't forget that time I was a Super Ultra Kawaii Magical Love Prince!
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: A combination of my cards lets me use my teammates cards as if I was them so I get to save the day instead of them!
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Only the best superpower for the best superhero. Although I don't seem to be able to change my face or the colors of my, ah, tights? I have an Unlimited Wardrobe of props and wigs and costumes I can pull out of Hammerspace anytime I like.
  • Wacky Guy: And what, there's something wrong with that? C'mon, you'd miss me if I wasn't around to shake things up.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: You know, for overly-muscular gun-toting X-Treeeeeme!!!! '90s Anti-Hero throwbacks? But of course!

I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm not familiar with that work at all, but I feel it should not stay on the page as-is. (I came across this page during some clean-up. The page has other issues — in my opinion, it misuses Expy and Composite Character and possibly other tropes as well.)

I wasn't around when the original decision to make Guise a Self-Demonstrating Article was made, though I didn't personally mind it. I'm not claiming that my edits were wonderfully written or anything, but shilling himself is actually a fairly big part of the character. I'm not sure what the solution might be if that's a problem in and of itself, but I do think it's only fair to consult the active editors of a page before actually making those kinds of changes.

Deadpool on Characters.Spiderman Shattered Dimensions also has the same issue as Guise.

I don't like the idea of SD character pages outside of the Self-Demonstrating namespace. If people like the character sheet as it currently is written, they should move it to SelfDemonstrating.Guise. Otherwise, it's a violation of Clear, Concise, Witty since it prioritizes the joke over being easy to read.

There's precedent for these character sheets being cleaned up, with Deadpool and Doctor Doom on Characters.Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Marvel Characters.
