  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
  • Awesome Music:
  • Awesome Ego: Probably the reason REGIS Mk. V was one of the more popular one-shot villains (coupled with his general ineffectiveness).
  • Catharsis Factor: Show Coop's Imagine Spot of stomping the DMV into nothingness to anyone with a driver's license. Odds are, they might applaud.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: REGIS Mk. V, for being a dead serious, though ineffectual villain with some funny lines delivered by Michael Dorn.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In "Bad Guy" much of the humour of the episode comes from the S-Force and Ender believing that Coop is the villain all the while he vehemently protests in-between accidentally blowing up the S-Force and wrecking their machines to power up Megas, then comes the Grand Finale "Rearview Mirror, Mirror" where Coop and Gorrath are accidentally transported to an Alternate Universe where we see a version of Coop that really does become evil... and the results are NOT pretty, especially when it's heavily implied that the evil Coop actually killed his universe's S-Force. Suddenly the idea of Coop being seen as the villain isn't so humorous anymore. Coop even says "I ain't supposed to be the bad guy" in the episode.
    • All the times citywide destruction gets played for comedy in this show becomes harder to laugh at in 2023 when Goat's actor, Scot Rienecker, died in a house fire
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The MTV expy that is constantly getting their stuff wrecked is named "PoPTV". In 2014, what was once the Prevue/TV Guide Channel rebranded as Pop TV (as part of its' move away from the now technologically-outmoded scrolling listings setup). 2019 saw the re-merger of CBS, owner of Pop, with Viacom, owner of MTV, making them sister networks.
  • Ho Yay: In "S-Force S.O.S.", Jax seemed awfully...taken with Jamie, sitting smooshed right up against him in M.E.G.A.S.' front seat, continually smiling at him and making affectionate, half-lidded chirps.
  • Informed Wrongness: Coop at the end of "A Clockwork Megas" breaking out the most dangerous robots in the universe was meant to be one of his many, many cases of Destructive Saviour resulting in Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. Except that the Warden spent the entire episode acting like a slave driver to his prisoners and didn't bother telling Coop where exactly they were in the whole time after finding out the latter wasn't meant to be in the prison while still trying to destroy them after learning that. In such a context, it's safe to say any typical mecha hero would have done the same thing. There was never any indication to Coop and the audience that the place is actually a prison for villains the whole time, making it a giant twist for the audience when revealed.
  • Les Yay: Darklos acts very flirty with Kiva as she hunts her down in the episode "DMV: Department Of Megas Violations".
  • LGBT Fanbase: Coop is pretty popular with gay men.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • POP TV stuff getting destroyed. And of course, the theme song.
    • "...Yeah, but that's Hoboken!"
    • "Chicks dig giant robots!"
    • Photoshopping logos over Coop's already memetic imaginary destruction of the DMV. These include anything from stuff the photo-shopper doesn't like, and even Cartoon Network for screwing the show over and canceling it.
    • The theme song remains the national anthem of 4chan's /m/, a board dedicated to Humongous Mecha. Yes, there are at least several chicks who dig giant robots and frequent the place. Nowadays it's mostly used for the regular 4chan PES divegrass cups.
  • Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: This show is loved by people who live in New Jersey despite the jokes it often gives at the state’s expense. Probably because New Jerseyans frequently engage in exactly that type of humor towards their home.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: The trademark "Shwing!" whenever something awesome happens. Also subverted, when something not so awesome is displayed, it has a sound that starts as the "Shwing!", but fades due to lameness.
  • Periphery Demographic: The show is very popular among adults.
  • Shallow Parody: In the Thanksgiving episode, there's a character who is the subject of ridicule from Coop and Jamie called "Augie The Adorable Aardvark", who is a parody of Sonic the Hedgehog. Coop and Jamie comment about Augie killing them with kindness, this implies that the character is overly saccharine like a Care Bear. Anybody who has played a Sonic game (or even watched any of the cartoons) will know that Sonic is snarky and isn't afraid to get aggressive with his enemies and his early appearances where very emblematic of stereotypical '90s edginess and coolness.
  • Signature Scene: The scene where Coop fantasizes about destroying the DMV is remembered not only for being one of the funniest scenes in the show, but for being completely cathartic for anybody that has been inconvenienced by them.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The William Tell Overture in episode four.
  • Spiritual Successor: To The '80s mecha anime Albegas. Even though it was released two decades earlier, it was also an Affectionate Parody of several mecha anime that preceded it. Albegas' Goro has a lot of similarities with Coop (a fat mecha anime enthusiast who, despite his manchild behaviour, always saves the day).
  • Values Resonance: Though the show makes a lot of jokes about Coop's eating habits, and some about how out of shape he is, it's still considered refreshing to have the protagonist be a heavyset guy who's proud of his size, isn't ashamed that he enjoys eating, and is drawn looking relatively attractive. There's a reason the show has a such a big fanbase of queer men who love Coop for his size and comfort in his skin. Likewise, when Sloen from S-Force gets fatter thanks to Coop's influence, he's shown to be perfectly chill about it the one time it's mentioned.
  • Woolseyism: The Brazilian dub has an excellent adaptation, especially on how Coop uses a lot of slang without the Totally Radical effect and the hammy voice of Guilherme Briggs helps a lot.
