What An Idiot / GoAnimate

Go To

Moments like these are expected, considering a majority of these videos are made by children. But sometimes, the "X Gets Grounded" videos made with GoAnimate (or Vyond, as it's now called) get so bad about this that you'll be left face-palming regardless.

    open/close all folders

    General examples
  • In general, the troublemaker constantly misbehaves without learning their lesson. And upon getting grounded, they often end up running to their room crying.
You'd Expect: The troublemaker would eventually realize that misbehaving results in them getting grounded and stop what they're doing.
Instead: The troublemaker keeps misbehaving, which leads to them being grounded and/or punished once more.
  • Some videos open with the main character's parents going on an outing. Before they leave, they tell their kid that they can't do one specific action while they're gone, or they'll be grounded (i.e. "Don't invite your friends over and have a party", "Don't break the TV", "Don't eat this", etc.)
You'd Expect: The troublemaker to simply obey their parents. They obviously wouldn't want to get grounded for who knows how long.
Instead: The instant their parents step out the door, they do the very thing they were told not to do, usually beginning with "I'm going to (do that thing)" and get grounded for it in the end. Extra points if they would have been ungrounded had they simply behaved.
  • The "(Character) OS" videos. Typically, the video will open with a character playing on their computer when suddenly a pop-up appears advertising something they would greatly enjoy, like a free PC version of Mario Kart or a pack of Minecraft skins.
You'd Expect: That they would have the common sense to see that it could possibly be a scam and close the pop-up.
Instead: They fall for it hook, line, and sinker and click on the pop-up, thus getting the character's OS installed onto their computer and having to suffer through it until they encounter a "Kill" button that the character forgot to remove that uninstalls the OS and reinstalls the computer's original OS or a fatal error that totals their computer and forces the main character to buy a new one.
  • Similar "Grounded" videos to the one above involve characters getting unusual errors themed after certain characters on their computers. Said errors usually require the computer to idle for a period of time until the error goes away.
You'd Expect: Unless the error doesn't have a timer, that the character would leave their computer and let the error time out.
Instead: They repeatedly restart their computer or do other things to try to make the error go away, resulting in the character the error is themed after getting angrier and angrier, sometimes to the point of assuming monstrous forms. Despite this, the main character continues trying to make the error go away themselves, eventually and usually culminating in their computer being completely ruined after failing to correctly guess a code. note
  • In most "(Character(s)) Gets Held Back" videos, the misbehaving students cause trouble in each grade they are sent back to.
You'd Expect: That eventually the troublemaker would get it through their head at some point that they should stop being troublesome. Even if there is nothing they can do to get back to where they were before, it's better to only go back to sixth grade than having to repeat kindergarten.
Instead: They act up the moment they enter their new class, even if they had just been remorseful over what they did in their previous class. They do this in every grade until they're eventually expelled.
    • This extends to the teachers themselves at times; Oftentimes, the troublemaker joins the class during a test or the due date of some homework.
You'd Expect: That the teacher would know that these new students won't have done the homework or be prepared for any test because they've just arrived and would let them sit there quietly.
Instead: The teacher yells at them for not having done the homework/test that they couldn't possibly have done, and the students are immediately sent back a grade for factors beyond their control, furthering their descent down the ranks and grades.
  • "(Character) Asks for (Toy) and Gets Grounded" videos revolve around the character asking their mom or dad if they can get a certain toy. Despite being told no, the kid incessantly begs again and again until the parent figure loses their cool and tells the kid that they will be grounded if they ask again.
You'd Expect: The kid to get the hint and stop begging for the toy.
Instead: They get angry and destroy half the town.
  • Warren Cook's character in general: His favorite hobby is making fake VHS openings and passing them off as real. He shows them off to the world, somebody points out it's fake, he gets exposed and grounded
You'd Expect: That he would stop making his famous fake VHS openings. Or, if he really wanted to make them, to keep them private and not show them to anybody, especially his dad.
Instead: He proudly shows them off anyway, resulting in his dad (or anyone else) acting as if Warren had just shown them a shock video and grounding him or giving him a Punishment Day.
  • Warren Cook buys Disney DVDs, VHSes and video games when his parents are out, despite them barring him from doing so.
You'd Expect: Warren to hide whatever he bought in his bedroom after he was done with it.
Instead: He leaves it lying out on the couch, right out in the open for his parents to discover and subsequently gets him into serious trouble.
  • In most "(Character) Fakes a School Lockdown" (Dora Makes a Fake Lockdown, for example) videos, the troublemaker skips class by asking the teacher to go to the restroom, only to go to the vacant principal's office instead. As the school principal is not feeling well (usually after eating Chinese takeout for breakfast or contracted some other related Food Poisoning), the troublemaker manages to change their vocal cords to sound like the principal and then announce on the intercom that the school is on lockdown for a very questionable reason (e.g. a murderer being spotted on the school campus).
You'd Expect: That no one would be quick to fall for the announcement, as someone would have the common sense to put two and two together and realize that this is the troublemaker trying to pull a prank (since this happened right after they disappeared), and immediately go to the principal's office to find them.
Or: If not that, then at least somehow verify whether or not the school is actually in danger before taking action.
Instead: Everyone falls for the announcement, leading to emergency services being called to the school (either for protection, or because some students panicked so much that they need to go to a psychiatric ward).
  • In "(Character) Makes a Clone of Themselves and Gets Grounded" videos, the troublemaker makes a robotic, identical clone of themselves so they can get away with cutting school. When the robot goes to school, everything is normal, until the teacher asks them to answer a simple math problem.
You'd Expect: The troublemaker would have built the clone to automatically answer the question.
Instead: The clone uses an internal calculator, which is spoken out loud to answer the question. This drains the clone's battery life, and it shuts off. Of course, suspicion is immediately raised, and the troublemaker gets caught and grounded.
  • "(Character) gets fat at (restaurant)" videos (For example, Zara Gets Fat At McDonald's and Gets Grounded) have a character go to a restaurant to order a colossal amount of food that would obviously cause illness.
You'd Expect: That the servant would refuse the order or ask them to scale it down.
Instead: They get away with placing the order anyway, only for the character to end up becoming fat (or due to a lack of suitable fat models, over-sized versions of themselves) and get grounded anyways. In some videos, the server does try to deter the character from ordering all that food by warning them of the health consequences, but most of the time they cave into the character's demands.
  • "(Character) gets (Character) Arrested" videos have the troublemaker get someone arrested (especially those of higher authority, such as their principal or teachers) by simply littering a product on the ground and running away. When the victim character, who is nearby, goes over to pick up the product to put it into the trash, a cop sees them, assumes that they're responsible for it and arrests them, while the victim attempts to reason with them.
You'd Expect: The cop to listen to the victim's eye-witness report before deciding to arrest them.
Instead: The cop immediately assumes that the victim is lying, then arrests them and locks them up anyways. It is only until after the character is jailed that they realize the troublemaker did it intentionally to get them arrested.
  • "(Character) Misbehaves on the Way to the Movies" videos have a character going against their will to a movie being shown in the theaters, as their parents or siblings want to see it. During the ride to the theater, the character will ask the parents to stop somewhere, usually at a restaurant to get some food or a video store to buy a DVD.
You'd Expect: That the parents would realize that the troublemaker only wants to make the stop in order to intentionally delay the trip to the theater and reject stopping regardless of their pleas.
Instead: The troublemaker begs so much that the parents just cave in and stop where they want to go, delaying themselves further. In the case of going to a restaurant, the troublemaker decides to delay them once again by causing a car crash via throwing the food (usually a hamburger) out the window and onto the road.
    • Most of the time, they reach the theater, only to realize that they have missed the movie.
You'd Then Expect: That the parents would not overreact too much and go to the theater for the next screening at a later date, but still reprehend the troublemaker for the incidents they committed.
Instead: The troublemaker is blamed for causing the entire delay and is therefore grounded for a long time. It is also stated that the movie will never be shown again or put on DVD or streaming. The parents overreact so much that it makes these videos Narm by default.
  • In "(Character) goes to (Restaurant)" videos, the troublemaker and the family goes to a restaurant, only for the restaurant to be closed. The parents suggest going to a different restaurant instead, which is often the sibling's favorite.
You'd Expect: The troublemaker to simply accept the option and go to a different restaurant.
Instead: The troublemaker gets angry and throws a fit, demanding to go into (and break into) the restaurant, before they ultimately destroy it. Cue grounding.
  • In "(Character) Grounds the Whole World", a troublemaker (usually in a group with other troublemakers, but sometimes alone) decides to ground the whole world using a satellite that can broadcast to the entire world and do this by saying that the viewers are grounded for watching TV.
You'd Expect: For the TV station to bar the troublemaker(s) from entering the recording studio, usually by using security.
Instead: The TV station has no security whatsoever, allowing the troublemaker(s) to get in and start their broadcast.
You'd Then Expect: The viewers watching the broadcast to just change to another channel and ignore the grounding.
Instead: Everyone in the world falls for it and believes that they're grounded, bursting into tears despite the fact that there's no way for the grounding to be enforced.
  • Several videos will feature a troublemaker about to commit an action/crime on another person (i.e. "I'm going to shave your hair off" or "I'm going to break your legs").
You'd Expect: The other person would either run away from the troublemaker or attack them in defense to prevent them from doing their deed.
Instead: They will usually stand in place yelling "Nononononononononono" over and over again, allowing the troublemaker to commit their action/crime on their victim.
  • The "(Character) gets # jobs" videos often have a troublemaker getting a job, only to immediately blow on their first shift by refusing service to customers, lying to them, and just being plain rude, leading to their boss firing them. The troublemaker gets upset at this, and goes to look for another place to work.
You'd Expect: The troublemaker, not wanting to be fired again, would avoid doing what they did at the previous establishment and actually give the paying customers what they want.
Instead: The moment the troublemaker is on shift, they go right back to doing whatever got them fired at the last job. This, unsurprisingly, leads to them being fired again.
Even Worse: Sometimes, they can get fired from 4-5 jobs in a row by continuing the cycle of behaviour.
  • "(Character) Turns School into (Restaurant)" videos will have a troublemaker try to disguise their school into a different establishment (like a Chuck E. Cheese's). Their efforts to pull this trick usually only amount to covering all the signs with ones for the place they wish to change it to.
You'd Expect: People outside would easily see that the building looks nothing like the restaurant and much more like a school.
Instead: There's always at least one person who falls for it, and goes inside and tries to place an order. And they usually have to be told that they are at the wrong location.
  • "(Character) Misbehaves at (Water park/Resort)" videos will usually include a scene where the troublemaker gets upset at a movie they hate being screened at the wave pool. So to get everyone out, they yell that there is some kind of marine animal infesting the pool (Sharks/eels/piranhas etc.).
You'd Expect: At least one person would look around in the water and realize that there is no threat to be seen, or at least question how such creatures could have gotten into an enclosed pool or how they are surviving with all the chemicals they're swimming in.
Instead: Everyone takes this person's word seriously and a panic is created.
    • Towards the end of the video, it's common for the troublemaker to go to the arcade. There, they get angry at losing a game and respond by punching the machine so hard that it starts a small fire.
You'd Expect: Someone would notify staff or grab a fire extinguisher and put out the fire through any means necessary.
Instead: Everyone in the arcade chooses to just book it. This usually ends with the fire spreading until the entire place burns to the ground.
  • Sometimes, a troublemaker's plan to get revenge involves sneaking into someplace to wreak havoc, have someone else framed for it or so forth.
You'd Expect: The troublemaker to at least try disguising themselves so as to avoid getting detected by anyone, especially after getting found out anyway on previous occasions. Even if they couldn't find anything sufficient to cover up what they look like, they could always use "GoAnimate logic" to transform themselves into a different-looking individual (or possibly even turn invisible).
Instead: They go out and act upon their schemes in their normal attire, overconfident that they will go unnoticed doing so. This eventually comes back to bite them in the rear when an authority figure (be it their parents, a teacher or the school principal) sees them on security camera footage.
  • In some videos, most often the "X Calls the Baby Stupid" videos, the troublemaker's mother gets pregnant.
You'd Expect: Her to tell her child that she is pregnant, letting them know in advance. Even if she's afraid that she'll have a miscarriage, you'd expect her to tell them once the first trimester is over, and even parents who don't want to have The Talk still let their kids know in some way that a baby is coming.
Instead: She doesn't tell the child until she's actually in labour. Additionally, it's unlikely that she didn't know, because once she does go into labour, she knows exactly what's happening.
The Result: The child has no time to prepare for their sibling and responds by being mean to the baby (most often calling them stupid). Granted, kids may well be jealous or annoyed by their baby siblings even if they were expecting them, but not expecting the baby would make it worse.
Even Worse: In some cases, the pregnant mother not only keeps her pregnancy a secret from her children, she doesn't even tell her husband either. This means that not only does he all of a sudden have an extra child to take care of, the couple had no chance to buy the necessary equipment (such as diapers) for the new baby.

    Specific examples
  • In Caillou Misbehaves On The Way To Mr. Hinkle's Farm / Grounded, Caillou is told that every time he misbehaves on the trip, he will get a strike. Earning five strikes would result in him being grounded. He loses three strikes by complaining about having to eat a sandwich, having to watch Finding Dory, and putting a stink bomb in the toilet. For his fourth dirty deed, he decides to derail the train that he and his family were on.
You'd Expect: For Boris to abandon the strikes and ground Caillou immediately for doing something that could have potentially cost the lives of everyone on-board.
Instead: Boris simply gives Caillou another strike. It doesn't take until Caillou throws a temper tantrum on the bus for Boris to finally decide to ground him.
You'd Also Expect: For the train conductors to not let Caillou touch the controls, or keep the door to the control room locked.
Instead: They do absolutely nothing, either not noticing Caillou running in and messing with the controls despite doing it right in front of them or just not giving a damn.
  • In Caillou and the Tornado/Grounded, a tornado is imminent in the city, and Caillou and his family are hiding out in their basement. Doris comments that they have no food in the basement and that they might be stuck in there for weeks (even though most tornados rarely last more than an hour).
You'd Expect: Boris and Doris to use the precious minutes they have to go upstairs and grab as much food as they can from the kitchen and take it back downstairs. If not, they could decide the safety of their kids and themselves is more important and just stay there until the tornado stops.
Instead: Doris suggests they leave the house and buy some food from the store. Boris agrees, and they leave Caillou and Rosie alone in the basement as they go out into the storm to the store; ultimately getting killed in the process.
You'd Then Expect: Caillou to take the situation seriously and not do something stupid.
Instead: Because heaven forbid Caillou not to do something that'll get him in trouble, Caillou calls some of his friends over (who come over anyway despite the storm) and they go and watch TV. This results in the friends (and Rosie) also getting killed, and getting grounded by Boris and Doris, who strangely come Back from the Dead.
  • Little Bill Causes a Car Crash sees Little Bill being forced to come to the supermarket with his family despite his pleas to just stay home. During the drive, Little Bill begins to talk back to his parents and starts arguing with them. Eventually, after 10 minutes, and as Brenda is at her boiling point, he rudely asks his mother why she was not answering him, demanding she tell him "to his face".
You'd Expect: Brenda to give out to Little Bill for his rudeness, as well as for distracting her, before continuing to drive.
Or: If she could not contain her anger, she would pull over and then snap at him.
Instead: Brenda turns over to Little Bill in a rage and proceeds to hurl insults at Little Bill, taking her focus off the road and wheel. Due to this, Brenda's car collides with another woman's car, causing the woman to be severely injured. Big Bill does nothing to even prevent the crash from happening.
You'd Then Expect: The police to arrive and fine Brenda for reckless driving, and the family to blame Brenda for causing the crash to happen anyways.
Instead: Little Bill is blamed for causing the crash, and is grounded for doing it. Sure, he was being a Jerkass during the ride to the store and was the the reason she lost her temper, but Brenda was the one driving, and she should have been more responsible for not letting him distract her and ensure people's safety. Even when Little Bill tries to explain that his mother is the one to blame for the collision happening, everyone treats him like he's trying to pass the blame and of course, his parents still ground him for an absurdly long time.
  • In Ivy Burns The House Down And Gets Grounded, the eponymous character starts a fire in her family's house.
You'd Expect: For the family to call the fire department immediately after leaving their house to have any chance of saving it.
Instead: They don't and just let the fire burn their house down as they are too busy yelling at Ivy, making them have to buy a new one.
  • In this video (which is only available as part of this compilation), Ivy is tasked by her mother to look at David's computer because she is afraid that he may be looking at something inappropriate. As Ivy knocks on the door, David closes out of a shooting game, only to be demanded by her to see what he was doing. As this happens, David pulls out a taser and threatens to shoot her with it.
You'd Expect: That Ivy runs out of the room and tells her mother about David possessing a weapon.
Instead: Ivy ends up standing in the same position as she repeatedly says a multitude of "no"s, leading her to getting tased.
    • Additionally, you could make a case for David's parents.
You'd Expect: That they would confiscate or even destroy the taser from David.
Instead: David ends up getting grounded until his parents die, with absolutely no reference to the taser whatsoever.
    • And then we have the fact that all of this could have been avoided in the first place:
You'd Expect: That their mother would have confronted David herself if she thought he was doing something she didn't agree with instead of sending her daughter to see what David was doing on the computer. She outright peeks in on David in the beginning.
Instead: She opted to send Ivy in instead, making her indirectly responsible for her daughter getting injured.
  • In "Fat Caillou Poops On the World", a heavyset version of Caillou eats too much and winds up needing to go to the bathroom during church because of a bowel movement. He informs his dad about this.
You'd Expect: That if Fat Caillou needs to go this badly, Boris would take him to the bathroom.
Instead: Boris just repeatedly tells Fat Caillou to shut up without doing anything, disrupting the church service, and ultimately causing Fat Caillou, unable to hold it any longer, to cut loose right there in the sanctuary and flood the world with...er...what comes out. (Which Boris fully blames Fat Caillou for without even acknowledging his ignorance.)
  • In Caillou Misbehaves At The Zoo/Grounded, Caillou and his family go to the zoo. As they look at the lions, Boris realizes he has to use the restroom.
You'd Expect: Boris to leave for the restroom by himself and have Doris look after Caillou and Rosie.
Instead: Boris and Doris run for the restroom, leaving Caillou and Rosie unattended, allowing Caillou to push Rosie into the lion enclosure. Later, Boris and Doris return to find a crowd watching in shock, which turns out to be because Rosie is in a lion's mouth and crying for help.
You'd Then Expect: Boris and/or Doris (or even the bystanders) to call for zoo staff or someone else to try and help retrieve her from the lion enclosure.
Instead: Boris becomes a Teeth Guy and proceeds to ground Caillou with no attempt to assist Rosie... which the zookeeper notices and decides to keep him in his own enclosure.
  • In Caillou Misbehaves at Sarah's House, Sarah's parents offer Caillou a cake to celebrate his 1,241,241,241,412th visit to their house. The cake was made with a bald shade of white cream, which Caillou doesn't seem to like for some reason.
You'd expect: Caillou would just politely decline the cake.
Or: He could accept their generosity, take the cake and either eat it himself or, if he doesn't like it, take it home to share with his family.
Instead: He throws a temper tantrum, insults the cake right to their faces, and throws the cake at Sarah's mom.
The Result: Sarah and her parents get pissed off and ban him from ever coming back to the house and Caillou ends up grounded as a result.
  • "School Shooting: The Naughty Edition" is a two-part video where a military school cadet named Jesse decides to exact revenge on her old school for expelling her by committing a mass shooting. Despite the video attempting to tackle the issue of school shootings seriously, the amount of Narm results in a load of this trope finding its way in.
    • The video starts with Jesse walking up to the school holding an AK-47 in the open.
You'd Expect: Someone would eventually see this person carrying a deadly firearm and notify the police.
Instead: She makes it all the way from the military academy to the school with nobody the wiser.
    • Once Jesse actually enters the school, she begins her killing spree.
You'd Expect: After Jesse fires the first shot from her gun, everyone inside the premises would act immediately, run for cover, try to escape the building and attempt to alert the authorities. Anything to ensure survival.
Instead: The police are only alerted half-way through Part 2. Only two classes go into lockdown immediately after the first shot, and no one even does anything to stop the shooting from occurring, let alone escape.
What's Worse: Much of the school is Too Dumb to Live; some students who are hiding from Jesse come out to beg for mercy, which often results in her killing them. One girl even tries to mock Jesse, completely ignoring that she has a gun and is threatening to kill her and her classmates. The staff are no better; rather than try to subdue Jesse, they often do nothing but try to chastise her, shun her for being "very naughty", and seem more concerned with her language even when the fresh bodies of children lay nearby. No surprise that all staff who try this method end up dying alongside the students.
  • In Scooby Gang Goes To The Carnival, Fred demands the Gang to not spend more than one hundred dollars between the four of them or they will suffer "concussion time".
You'd Expect: The gang to obey his wishes and buy some non-pricey stuff.
Instead: They ignore him completely and go way over that limit, such as Shaggy and Scooby buying 250 dollars worth of food, and Daphne getting a thousand-dollar teddy bear.
The Result: All of them (including Velma, who didn't even spend a buck) end up receiving concussions from Fred.
  • In Dora Burns Down the School, Dora shows up 30 minutes late with the intent of burning the school down. Ms. Christina admonishes her for being late and, when the former openly declares her plan, threatens to report her to the principal.
You'd Expect: That Ms. Christina would make good on her threat and prevent Dora from going through with her intentions, especially when the latter pulls out gasoline and a lighter.
Or: If she genuinely believed that Dora was a threat to the school (which she was), she would tackle her. She is a grown woman and can easily overpower an 8-year-old girl.
Instead: The moment Dora starts pouring gasoline on the floor, Ms. Christina immediately gets scared and runs off.
As a Result: Dora succeeds in setting the school on fire, resulting in a mass panic and casualties.
  • In this videonote , a recently ungrounded "bad user" gets to go on a cruise with his parents, but with the one rule that he is not allowed to use his laptop for the duration of the trip.
You'd Expect: That the kid would abide by the rule set by his parents and enjoy some of the other amenities and activities on the ship, as it is a far superior alternative to getting grounded.
Instead: The first thing he does after he and his parents get settled into their cabin is ask for his laptop so he can make a grounded video.
    • Despite this, the user's parents stand their ground and tell him no.
You'd Then Expect: That the user would eventually oblige and go find something else to do.
Instead: He keeps yelling and demands his parents to give him his computer, acting as if he'll drop dead if he doesn't make a grounded video out of a good user right that second, despite being threatened with being re-grounded and having a miserable vacation. Ultimately, he sinks the boat in defiance and winds up getting grounded anyway.
    • Additionally, you could make a case for the parents as well.
You'd Expect: That they would have left their son's laptop at home, thus their son would not be tempted to pull it out when he's not supposed to and have no other choice but to occupy his time in some other way.
Instead: They bring it with them for no apparent reason, thus bringing their ruined vacation upon themselves.
  • In "Rosie And Dora Turn the World Into Popcorn", Dora and Rosie get hungry and decide to turn the whole world into popcorn. To do this, they visit Hogwarts and ask Harry and Ron for the magic wands they are using.
You'd Expect: Given Harry, Hermione, and Ron's non-plussed reactions to seeing Rosie and Dora show up in Hogwarts, that the three would know that Rosie and Dora are up to no good and either not hand over the wands or, at the very least, ask them what they intend to do with them.
Instead: Harry and Ron hand over their wands to the trouble-makers without any further questions, and thus Rosie and Dora succeed in turning the world into popcorn and causing mass confusion.
  • In "Dora Gets Gina Expelled/Grounded BIG TIME" Dora is suspended for a week for arguing with Gina and grounded for two months because of it. For a revenge plot, she builds a robot replica of Gina to destroy the bathrooms to get her expelled. When the principal calls Gina in, having watched security footage of the incident, she's adamant that she never did it, claiming that she was in class the entire time.
You'd Expect: The principal, knowing how much of a good and smart student Gina is, to give her the benefit of the doubt and at least bring in Ms. Christina to confirm.
Instead: He treats the video as gospel and immediately expels Gina.
Even Worse: When Ms. Christina goes to the principal and tells him that Gina didn't step foot out of her classroom, he accuses her of lying and threatens to fire her. He only realizes his mistake when he checks the security footage in the hallway right before the incident, which reveals Dora hiding in a locker explaining her plan.
  • In Dora Lies to the Principal, Dora sneaks into the principal's office to prank the whole school into thinking there's a demon in the office by deepening her voice. She then attempts to run back to class only to get caught by the principal, who then orders her to write down what happened, threatening punishment if she lies.
You'd Expect: Dora would take his warning seriously, considering there might be a way for him to tell if she's dishonest and write down what actually happened.
Instead: Dora believes that he is unable to prove anything and lies to him on the paper. This backfires when the principal reveals he had recorded the whole thing on a camcorder and proves she had lied to him. He then calls in her parents and Abuela to inform them she is suspended for a while and will be referred to a therapist.
Additionally: The principal states that had she told the truth, they simply would have had a talk and she would've been let off with a warning.
  • In Dora Misbehaves at the Movies, Elena announces to Dora that she and her family are going to see a movie. Dora, naturally, has no interest and declares that she wants to watch her show on TV instead, but Elena tells her she can when they return from the cinema.
You'd Expect: Dora would comply with this compromise and attend the movie with her family, even under protest.
Instead: Dora runs outside, intent on popping the tires on Elena's car.
Luckily: Elena manages to stop her with a threat of punishment and sends her running back into the house.
Then: Elena, understandably displeased at Dora's behavior, suspects she is going to misbehave at the cinema.
You'd Then Expect: Elena would change her mind about letting Dora go see the movie with them and perhaps either she, Cole, or Abuela could volunteer to stay home with Dora to prevent disruptions during the movie and arrange to see it themselves at a later date.
Instead: She asks Dora if she promises not to misbehave with the threat of grounding if she does and the latter responds affirmatively. Clearly forgetting her daughter has a history of bratty, selfish and destructive behavior and likely cannot keep a promise, she believes her, and they all go to the cinema.
Then: After Dora throws a tantrum in the lobby, she decides to get revenge on her family via replacing the movie with her show. In order to do this, she fibs to Elena that she has to use the bathroom.
You'd Then Expect: Elena would assume Dora was going to misbehave, especially given that troublemakers like her often use that same excuse before doing anything wrong, and thus deny her false request in order to spare them further trouble.
Or: If she believed that Dora really needed to use the bathroom, she could offer to go with her.
Instead: She permits Dora to leave the auditorium, which allows her to sneak off to the projection room and have her show play on the screen instead of the movie. Of course, her ticked off family grounds her for it with Elena chewing her out for ruining the audience's enjoyment of the movie even though she brought Dora to the cinema in the first place and failed to ensure a peaceful trip.
  • During Banana Bro STINKS at Driving, Banana Bro drives recklessly across town. As he does this, he speeds past a police officer.
You'd Expect: The police officer, having seen this, to immediately get in his car and start to chase Banana Bro.
Instead: He comments on the matter for a medium length of time, which would normally allow Banana Bro to get away with his crime.
However: Due to Fridge Logic, the cop manages to catch up to him as if he had done what you'd expect before Banana Bro turns around, misses a turn on the road, and then crashes into a forest.
  • In Dora Swaps Her Report Card, Dora gets a GPA of 0.0, while Gina gets a GPA of 4.0. While Gina goes to the bathroom, Dora swaps her report card with Gina's so that she doesn't get in trouble for her low GPA score. When Dora gets home, she shows her family "her" report card, which shows her getting A+'s on all subjects and the teacher's note even recommending she gets a Nobel Peace Prize. After reading it, Dora's mother becomes quite suspicious and asks Dora if it's a fake report card.
You'd Expect: Dora's mother, knowing how much of a troublemaker her own daughter is, to call the principal to verify whether the report card she got is real or not.
Instead: She believes Dora's explanation (despite her heavy use of "um's"), and the whole family goes to Dave & Buster's to celebrate and spends over $1,000 there.
Afterwards: The principal, Gina & her mother, and Mrs. Christina arrive at Dora's house to explain to her family that "Dora's" report card is actually Gina's, and the principal gives the family Dora's real report card. Dora's mother becomes furious at Dora for swapping her report card with Gina's to avoid getting grounding, as well as having the family waste a whole lot of money for it.
    • Additionally, you could make a case with Gina, as well
You'd Expect: Gina to bring her report card with her on her trip to the bathroom (Or in some way protect it) so that no one tampers with it while she's gone.
Instead: Gina leaves her report card out in the open on her desk while she's gone, allowing Dora to switch the names on her and Gina's report cards.
Luckily: When Gina shows "her" report card to her mother, she gets suspicious that her daughter may have gotten the wrong report card and calls the principal to verify this.
  • In Dora Kills Gina and Disrespects Her Funeral/Grounded, Dora's finally had enough of Gina's tattle-telling ways after she rats her out for looking at her paper. She returns to the classroom with a gun and aims it at Gina.
You'd expect: Ms. Christina, being the authority figure, to restrain Dora immediately in order to save Gina's life.
Instead: She just flails her arms, futilely telling Dora to stop and threatening her with expulsion while Dora murders Gina.
What's Worse: When Dora turns around and threatens to shoot her as well, Ms. Christina reacts immediately and effortlessly defeats her. This shows that she could have easily saved Gina if she actually tried.
  • In the "Caillou Microwaves/Blends Rosie" series of videosnote , Caillou decides to trick Rosie into getting blended/microwaved. Caillou's parents catch wind of this and punish Caillou for it note . Later on, as Caillou himself explains, his parents have adopted another Rosie from China.
You'd Expect: Boris and Doris to move out and take Rosie 2 with them out of concern for her own safety and leave Caillou in the care of authorities to prevent him from killing her as he had done with Rosie.
Instead: They do no such thing and allow Rosie 2 to constantly harass and tattle on Caillou. Caillou finds her so annoying that he decides to kill her with the microwave/blender yet again. His parents react to it yet again and Doris retaliates by killing Caillou even though they failed to protect their daughter in the first place.
Later: They adopt yet another Rosie from Guatemala.
You'd Expect: That, having lost two Rosies to Caillou, they would move out of the house, order it condemned and find somewhere else to live. Or, failing that, at least throw out the microwave/blender.
Instead: Once again, they continue to live in the same house and keep the microwave/blender thus allowing Caillou (who came back as a ghost) to kill their adopted daughter with the same methods. Made even worse by the fact that in "Caillou Blends Rosie 3", Doris actually informs Rosie 3 that the previous two Rosies were killed in the blender and yet makes no further attempt to ensure her safety.
    • Also, in "Caillou Microwaves Rosie 3", Gilbert unsuccessfully tries to warn Rosie 3 to watch out for the ghost of Caillou, only for the latter to trick her into entering the microwave.
You'd Expect: Gilbert to promptly stop Rosie 3 from falling for his trap and take her to safety/inform the parents. Alternately, when Caillou's ghost shows up, you'd expect Gilbert to fight him on her behalf.
Instead: He runs off in terror, thus allowing Caillou to kill Rosie 3.
  • In "Girard Misbehaves At The Airport", the titular troublemaker is going on a trip to Las Vegas with his family to see Maroon Five. However, Girard gets angry when he's told by an employee that the airport no longer serves the now-defunct US Airways.
You'd Expect: That Girard would brush aside this minor problem and fly with one of the various alternatives instead, especially after Eric lampshades how it's not a big deal.
Instead: He overreacts to the situation and proceeds to destroy the entire airport with a power vacuum.
  • In Dora Kills Her Family/Punishment Day by Mrs. Christina, Dora's family ground her for no reason whatsoever simply because they're bored and laugh at her reaction. Dora decides she's had enough and comes up with the idea to kill her parents and Abuela as revenge. She returns home after stealing a gun and her family takes notice of this.
You'd Expect: The three to immediately run for their lives, preferably hide some place with easy access to a phone and call the police.
Instead: Her mom just angrily scolds her for carrying a stolen weapon. Worse yet, when Dora announces she's intent on killing the three, they do nothing but stand there with a look of horror and she shoots them dead as a result.
  • In Dora Fakes Her Own Death, Dora, fed up with her parents (and grandmother) grounding her all the time, attempts to fake her own death to see if her parents would actually care if she died. When her mom arrives in her room, she tries to wake up Dora to no avail.
You'd Expect: Dora's mother, knowing her daughter's reputation as a troublemaker, to assume she's trying her absolute best to not get woken up by her and continue trying to wake her up.
Or: If Dora's mother is really worried about her daughter, at least check her pulse or even take her to the hospital to see if she's okay.
Instead: She and the whole family just conclude that Dora is dead, and they, the rest of Dora's family, and even Dora's classmates and teachers come to her funeral.
As a Result: As Dora's coffin is getting buried in the ground, she quickly "runs" out of her coffin, much to the shock of everyone. This results in Dora's mother getting extra furious at hernote  for making her family and friends waste their time and money on a funeral that wasn't meant to be.
  • Caillou does the floor is lava challenge and gets grounded has Caillou and Rosie play The Floor Is Lava. However, as they play, they start to break stuff in the living room.
You'd Expect: Caillou and Rosie to stop playing the game to avoid causing further damage and attempt to clean things up.
Instead: They continue to play the game until the living room is completely wrecked.
You'd Then Expect: Caillou and Rosie to call it quits after realizing how much of a big mess they've made in the living room and again, attempt to clean things up.
Instead: They decide to play the game in the kitchen, with the same disastrous results as the living room.
The Result: Boris arrives home and grounds Caillou for 15 thousand yearsnote .
  • In Classic Caillou Misbehaves During The Fire Drill, Classic Caillou is talking during the fire drill, and Leo repeatedly tells him to shut up.
You'd Expect: For Ms. Martin to send both Classic Caillou and Leo to the principal's office for talking during the fire drill.
Instead: She only sends Classic Caillou to the principal's office without even taking into consideration that Leo was technically talking during the fire drill as well.
  • In Caillou Puts Rosie in the Oven, Caillou puts Rosie in the oven after being fed up with her snitching on him. Upon putting her in, she cries out for help until both Boris and Doris come to the rescue.
You'd Expect: Caillou's parents to immediately get Rosie out of the oven and ground Caillou later.
Instead: They waste valuable time by scolding Caillou for putting Rosie in the oven and by the time they get her out, she is severely burnt to the point of having a low survival rate, thus having to be rushed to the hospital.
  • In Winnie the Pooh and Sid the Science Kid get held back and gets grounded, Sid the Science Kid and Winnie-the-Pooh are the troublesome students getting held back for various grievances. Midway through the video, Pooh and Sid decide to stand up for themselves and speak with their current teacher (8th grade) about giving them another chance and reinstating them to the 12th grade.
You'd Expect: That they would prove that they're truly sorry and ask the teacher in a tactful and polite way to get back to the 12th grade and find a good reason for it, so that he'd possibly consider it.
Instead: They scream at and cuss out the teacher and demand to get back to the 12th grade in a rude and disrespectful way, not even citing any valid reason why they should go back other than that they miss the chicks with big boobs.
The Result: Not only do Sid and Pooh not go back to 12th grade, but the offended teacher immediately sends them to 7th grade.
  • In Dora Brings A Video Camera To School, Dora misses the bus, and the distance to school 12 miles (19 kilometers) long, meaning walking would most certainly make her late.
You'd Expect: That she would not attempt to walk to school as it would take too long and ask her parents if they can drive her to school instead.
Instead: She decides to walk the entire way, resulting in her being two hours late and ruining her Converse sneakers.
You'd Then Expect: That she would go to her classroom or the principal's office immediately and explain her situation, hopefully only mildly getting reprehended.
Instead: She wastes time recording the school, going around the different areas and explaining them. When she finally gets to class, she doesn't even bother to explain her situation to the teacher and gets sent to the principal's office. She also doesn't even bother to explain her situation there, and as a result of that and ignoring requests to turn off the camera, she is expelled and gets grounded by her parents.
  • In Dora Burns Down The Opera Concert And Gets Grounded, Dora decides to burn down the church the opera concert is taking place in because she hates it.
You'd Expect: That after she sets the church on fire, that she would immediately run away in order to avoid getting caught in the act.
Instead: Not only does she stay at the church to watch the fire, but she also celebrates it loudly, enabling her to get caught easily.
  • In Jock Fails On Movie Day And Gets Grounded For It, Jock's teacher announces that his class is holding a Movie Day and expects everyone to bring a movie, just so long as it has an MPAA rating of PG-13 or under. When Jock gets home, he is unable to find a suitable movie to bring to class, as all the movies on the DVD shelf are rated R.
You'd Expect: That Jock would ask his parents if they own any movies with a suitable rating and to buy said movie should they not own one.
Or: Assuming the assignment is optional, just not bring a movie at all.
Instead: He decides to bring an R-rated film (specifically, Die Hard), and as a result, gets expelled and grounded for 9 months.
Even Worse: Jock acknowledges that he will get in trouble if he brings the movie, but still decides to go with his plan anyway.
  • In Veena shoots an airplane out of the sky/Grounded BIG TIME, Veena watches a video where Caillou crashes an airplane into his house and gets in serious trouble over it.
You'd Expect: That Veena would keep this in mind and not attempt anything similar. It didn't end well for Caillou, so why should she take that same risk?
Instead: She decides to shoot an airplane out of the sky, not caring about what happened to Caillou.
Later: She steals a gun from a store in order to execute her plan.
You'd Expect: That the store owner would call the cops and have her arrested. She clearly isn't going to be using the gun for good intentions, and the cops could be able to prevent what she was going to do.
Or: Try and tackle her. He is much more physically strong than Veena and could easily overpower her and take the gun.
Instead: He just stands there and yells at her about not stealing, allowing Veena to get away.
Later: Veena then manages to get to the airport, about to shoot the plane. There are several guards near the plane.
You'd Expect: That at least ONE of them would have the sense to stop her. They are most likely armed, and there are several of them.
Instead: They stand there doing nothing, allowing Veena to run with the plane as it is taking off, and being able to shoot it down.
  • In False Accusation, a girl named Molly is revealed to have been diagnosed with Fanconi anemia, but her parents are unable to provide medical treatment for her after being taken away by social services due to false accusations of child abuse. When Molly meets her foster parents, they have a chat about the situation, with Molly providing them details about her illness.
You'd Expect: The foster parents to take Molly's words seriously and take her to the hospital to at least verify that she is indeed telling the truth.
Instead: They refuse to listen to what she has to say and blindly believe in the idea that her former parents brainwashed her into believing she had such an illness and continue to fight for months to keep her former parents from getting her back.
The Result: Thanks to the lack of any medical treatment, Molly finally succumbs to her illness, with her foster parents only finding out about it after it was too late.
  • In Dora trashes Caillou's room, Dora decides to destroy Caillou's room because she believes that he was mean to her at a party.
You'd Expect: That as soon as Dora finished destroying his room, that she would get out of there and leave no trace of her being there.
Instead: She leaves several of her merchandise there before leaving, resulting in Caillou and Boris finding out that she did it and her getting thrown out the window.
  • In "Elmo Changes His Name to Fart/Grounded", Elmo wants to change his name because he was made fun of for having a "dumb name".
You'd Expect: Him to change it to a proper name like John or Larry.
Instead: He changes it to Fart. Predictably, this just leads to even more ridicule.
  • In Caillou bullies a trans person/executed, a new student named Rosemary (a trans woman) is introduced to Caillou's class, whereupon he immediately makes fun of her. When reprimanded by the principal for this later on, he is asked what he has to say for himself.
You'd Expect: Caillou would apologize for his intolerant behaviour.
Instead: Caillou bluntly says he doesn't give a crap. The principal immediately gives him detention, then threatens him with suspension, expulsion and reports to the authorities if he expresses transphobia any more times. For added measure, Caillou is grounded by his parents.
Later: Caillou blames Rosemary for getting him in trouble and wants revenge. When he brings her up to his friend Leo, the latter mentions that she is a neighbour of his who moved in shortly before attending school. Leo also comments he finds nothing wrong with her, even reminding him of the penalties he'll receive for making fun of her again.
You'd Expect: Caillou to remember what the principal said, drop the subject and leave Rosemary alone.
Instead: Caillou, still unrepentantly thinking Rosemary is responsible for him getting punished, loudly demands to know her birth name (to which Leo complies in fear). Both are called to the principal's office and while Leo is to receive a talking-to after school while Caillou is suspended.
Worse Yet: Caillou, yet again failing to learn from before, returns to school after his suspension and proceeds to beat up Rosemary and repeatedly call her "stupid male", resulting in her running off crying and Leo rightfully calling him out on this act of cruelty, declaring they are no longer friends. To make matters worse, Rosemary leaves behind a suicide note and ultimately kills herself and her mother eventually finds out. As a result, Caillou is expelled from school, convicted and executed.
  • In Dora Steals Her Mother's Credit Card For Her Freedom/Snapping Elena Cracks/11th Punishment Day, Dora steals her mother's credit card in order to buy a lot of stuff she wants. When she is stealing the credit card, her father catches her acting suspiciously after leaving his and his wife's room. A month later, Dora's mother finds out that her credit card was declined due to there not being enough funds on it, and at the same time, all of Dora's stuff arrives, with Dora making no attempt to hide any of it.
You'd Expect: That Dora's mother would immediately put two and two together, given the information stated earlier and also her being well aware of Dora's reputation as a troublemaker.
Instead: She immediately blames her husband and Abuela, thinking that they somehow did it despite the overwhelming objective proof that Dora did it and the very subjective proof that pinned them as the culprits. She is so dead set in her suspicions that she goes on a huge rampage across the city and has to be told that it was Dora at the end, at which point a lot of damage had already been done, such as the destruction of Dora's family's house.
Even Worse: Dora had done a similar thing before, having stolen her mother's phone to play a gambling game and get almost the exact same stuff that she got from stealing the credit card, showing that none of the adults learned anything from that previous experience.
  • In Caillou Poison Bomb At The Miyu Restaurant/Causing A Chaos And Destruction/3rd Punishment Day, Caillou crafts a poisonous smoke bomb and sets it off inside the Miyu Restaurant after locking the front door, resulting in a noxious green vapor spreading throughout the dining area. A server is alerted to the ensuing chaos, even noticing the vapor and one patron falling over dead.
You'd Expect: The server to immediately run for her life, warning others dining of the danger along the way.
Instead: She just stands there using her phone to alert other patrons as the poison smoke approaches.
    The Result: She dies offscreen.
  • Caillou makes a fake tornado warning and gets grounded involves Caillou sneaking into a news station, disguising himself as an anchor, and announcing that there is a tornado warning for the entire city.
You'd Expect: People would look outside and see that there are no signs of a tornado.
Or: If it is stormy (which it isn't if the background at the beginning is any indication), at least check other weather channels to see if they are reporting something similar.
Instead: The whole city panics in fear of their lives. It takes a whopping four hours before a new message is issued saying it was a false alarm, and only then do people calm down.
  • In Caillou goes to Minnesota/Grounded, Caillou ditches his school and takes a flight to Minnesota. He loves it so much that he decides to live there from now on.
You'd Expect: An authority figure, such as his teacher or parents, would notice after a day or two that Caillou is gone and try to look for any information on his whereabouts.
Instead: It takes Ms. Martin two weeks before she asks the principal about where he is.
You'd Also Expect: Anyone with vital information on where he could be to come forward as soon as possible.
Instead: The principal reveals that the security camera somehow caught Caillou for so long that she even knew that he was shopping at the Mall of America. And yet she spent two weeks sitting on this instead of taking action.
  • In Dora Gets Gina Sick, when both Gina and Mrs. Christina go to the bathroom, Dora decides to poison Gina's water bottle with E. coli.
You'd Expect: Given Dora was doing her deed right in front of Joey, he would prevent her from poisoning the water bottle.
Or: Had that failed, tell Mrs. Christina and Gina what Dora did the moment they arrive back in the classroom.
Instead: He just sits there doing absolutely nothing, letting Dora get away with her plan. It isn't until after Gina ingested the infected water that he tells the whole story to Mrs. Christina.
  • In Zola Flips Out In The School Computer Lab, while researching about the Mexican-American War for a World History project, Zola receives the Blue Screen of Death on one of the school's computers. She then attempts to fix the issue to no avail.
You'd Expect: Zola to inform her teacher about the problem.
Or: Just switch to another computer if available.
Instead: She throws a huge fit, destroying the keyboard and the monitor in the process, resulting in her suspension and her parents getting fined for $180.
  • Rosie meets DAN SCHNEIDER starts with Rosie and Doris observing a large bus next to a supermarket, after which Doris decides to go shopping.
You'd Expect: Doris to take Rosie with her so she won't be in harm's way.
Instead: She tells Rosie to stay outside for the sole reason of not wanting other people to think they are friends.
The Result: Dan Schneider, who steps out of the aforementioned bus, encounters Rosie and kidnaps her to have her star in a new show for Nickelodeon.
  • In Team rocket in Earthbound, Team Rocket, after James accidentally pressed the "dimensional travel button", ends up in the EarthBound world rather than time travelling to the days of James's childhood as intended.
You'd Expect: Team Rocket, before attempting to time travel again, to travel back to their own dimension.
Instead: They attempt to time travel again while still remaining in the EarthBound world.
The Result: They time travel to the very distant past and end up in the Cave of the Past. After finding shelter in Giygas's Lair to avoid the other enemies, they then encounter Giygas himself, presumably getting killed by him.
  • In "Caillou Throws Rosie Off a Plane", Caillou brings weapons in his bag with him to take on the plane the the Philippines. Sure enough, security checks his bag before boarding and finds all of these weapons.
You'd Expect: The airport staff not to let him on the plane.
Instead: They give him a stern warning and simply let him on his way. Granted, they confiscate the weapons, but still.
The Result: He succeeds in throwing his sister off the plane.
Even Worse: Doris mentions at one point that Caillou has apparently hijacked several planes in the past. This would be an extremely justifiable reason to put him on a no-fly list, and yet nothing was done to stop him.
  • In "Caillou Takes a Massive Pee", Boris the Teeth Guy has some cola for sale, but warns Caillou that it could make the drinker pee a lot (then later, he comments that he knows such excessive peeing would spell doom for the city.)
You'd Expect: Him not to sell such dangerous soda if he knows about its dangers.
    Instead: He sells it anyway.
The Result: Caillou does in fact end up peeing to catastrophic levels.
  • In "Classic Caillou Does The Ice Cream Challenge", Classic Caillou decides to lick a tub of ice cream at a store, but is immediately caught by a shopper and later a security guard, both of whom accuse him of licking several tubs despite repeatedly telling them he only tampered with one.
You'd Expect: The security guard to check the security cameras (or if the store has no such thing, at least check all of the ice cream tubs for germs) to see if Classic Caillou is indeed telling the truth, while still giving him suitable punishments.
Instead: He concludes that Classic Caillou is lying despite having no clear evidence of him licking more than one ice cream tub.
The Result: He charges Doris $119 for the damages lest Classic Caillou goes to jail, which she refuses to pay for. Additionally, the security guard implies the store might throw out several tubs of ice cream in the freezer, not realizing that almost all of them are in perfect condition.
  • Near the end of Dora Watches Porn in Class / Grounded on Labor Day, Dora is ratted out by Gina for watching porn on a Chromebook in class, whereupon Mrs. Christina sends Dora to the principal's office (along with other penalties). This prompts Dora to get angry at Gina for snitching on her (despite flat out telling Gina what she was doing earlier), declare she is ready to beat her classmate with a belt and make a mad dash for Gina's desk.
You'd Expect: Mrs. Christina would do something to intervene and prevent Dora from attacking Gina, like physically restraining her before she gets near her classmate, and (at least attempt to) escort Dora to the principal's office.
Or: If she couldn't stop Dora in time, she could still intercept the scuffle and pull Dora away from Gina.
Instead: She backs up as Dora runs toward Gina and stands there in complete shock as this goes on for less than a minute. Only after Dora ends her assault does Mrs. Christina react by demanding she leave the classroom immediately.
  • From the same user behind the above example, Dora Misbehaves at the Media Center / Causes a Rampage / Punishment Day / Grounded / Arrested starts off with Mrs. Christina announcing she and the class will go to the school library (referred to as "the Media Center") so her students can obtain tickets for the homecoming event. Upon arrival, after Dora requests a ticket, the librarian informs her they ran out the day before. Predictably enough, this sends Dora into an extreme rage such that she openly intends to destroy the entire library. Caillou unwisely threatens to tell on Dora and in turn, Dora outright declares she'll kill him before going through with her plan.
You'd Expect: Mrs. Christina and the librarian (two grown adults who are likely much stronger) and four other students (who are standing right there) would immediately overpower Dora and physically restrain her while at least one of them runs for a phone to report Dora's violent threats to the police department.
You'd Also Expect: Caillou would attempt to run for his life and, if at all possible, find a hiding place.
Instead: Caillou doesn't move from the seat at all while Dora runs toward him, just says a Rapid-Fire "No!" and futilely tries to placate her by rescinding his threat. By a similar token, none of the other witnesses make any move to stop Dora (even though they outnumber her six to one). The resulting attack on Caillou is even worse than the previous case mentioned above, as it goes on for about two minutes (still with no effort on anyone's part to halt it whatsoever).
Even Worse: Dora not only succeeds in beating Caillou to death but also pulls out a gun, kills Gina and Kevin, a random student and the vice principal (and presumably others offscreen) whilst various others flee the school, shortly before Dora ultimately destroys the building with a bomb to cap off her rampage. Although she is eventually punished severely for her misdeeds, it does little to diminish that so many people failed to take action when they should have.
  • In Caillou Calls a Janitor "Toilet Man"/Grounded (2014 Version), Caillou tries using the bathroom with a fake hall pass, but the janitor is using that bathroom.
You'd Expect: Caillou would go use another bathroom (since schools always have more than one).
Instead: He demands the janitor open the door, insulting him by calling him "Toilet Man" in the process.
The Result: The janitor sends Caillou to the principal's office.
You'd then expect: Caillou, knowing the janitor doesn't have much authority, to just go about his day.
Instead: He goes to the principal's office anyway.
The Result: Caillou gets expelled from school and then grounded.
  • "Boris grounds Caillou with his CVS reciept and gets grounded" starts with Boris unable to sleep due to his children being too noisy.
You'd Expect: Boris to go downstairs, tell the kids to quiet down, and then go back to sleep.
Instead: Boris decides to fix the problem with drugs, and goes to CVS.
While there: He runs into Caillou and questions why he's there, to which Caillou sasses him by saying it was to get away from him. When Boris eventually rings up the items he bought, he has to fork over $41,324,892,389, or else he'll be arrested for being a foreign agent and then be painfully milked and executed. He just so happens to have that amount with him, and he gets a receipt, which if he doesn't take, will get him arrested for littering and have him pay a $94,189,389,128,000 fine. He goes over to Caillou to beat him with it.
You'd Expect: Caillou to flee, or do anything to ensure his safety.
Instead: Caillou lets his dad beat him with the receipt, causing him to die, and get grounded for doing so too quickly.
  • In Caillou Goes To Movie Theater & Ruins Godzilla For Everyone & Gets Grounded!, Caillou is eager to see Barney's Great Adventure but Rosie doesn't want to and Boris insists the family is to go see Godzilla (1998) instead. As Caillou and Boris briefly argue about this, Doris gets an idea.
You'd Expect: Doris, who is more of a Doting Parent in many of this user's videos, would offer to take Caillou to see Barney's Great Adventure herself while Boris would take Rosie to Godzilla instead.
Instead: Doris suggests putting it to a vote. Caillou predictably loses and the family ultimately chooses to go see Godzilla.
The Result: Once they arrive at the local movie theater, Caillou ends up causing trouble trying to prevent Godzilla from being shown (such as calling the police and unwittingly entering the projectionist's booth, where he replaces the movie's reel with that of Barney's Great Adventure). Caillou is eventually brought back to the theater where the crowd demands both he and Boris be sent out of the auditorium.
After That: Infuriated by Caillou's actions, Boris gives him a stern lecture (including telling him to respect others' interests). Just after that, he complains about numbness in his foot and decides to walk about the hall until it recovers.
You'd Then Expect: Boris, knowing his son had caused trouble on his own moments ago, would force Caillou that stay with him.
Instead: He orders Caillou not to move from his spot on the hallway floor, then walks away leaving Caillou all by his lonesome.
The Result: While Caillou initially obeys, he feels bad about how his behavior upset the audience and decides to bring the replica of Godzilla from the lobby into the auditorium, thinking they would feel better about it. It turns out to be a machine controllable on the inside and he ends up causing disaster once more. For this, he and his family are banned from returning to the theater for 10 years (at the demands of the manager).
To Make Matters Worse: In addition to being grounded, Caillou is given the moral that he cannot always have everything he wants, which rings hollow because nobody seemed to care one bit about Caillou's lack of interest in seeing Godzilla (even if he was being petulant about it, to be fair).

    Parodied/lampshaded examples
  • Invoked in Dead Meat, a deconstruction of the "(Character) Gets in Dead Meat" videos, where the culinary "dead meat students" are sent to the headmaster's office by the teacher (actually Boris in disguise). It turns out that the students end up going into the fake headmaster's office (which is to the right of the actual headmaster's office) and end up meeting their gruesome deaths as a result.

How dare you do something incredibly idiotic in a GoAnimate/Vyond video and wind up on this page! That's it! You are grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded for 8912642896432487 years! Go to your room now and never ever come out!
