Shortly after celebrating Anne's 23rd birthday, the Calamity Trio receive a call from one Mr. X. He states that he has received an urgent message from one "Domino" and is calling for their help. The trio immediately say yes as after a decade, they can finally see their amphibian friends and family again, for better or worse.

A fancomic sequel of Amphibia made by Dr_Neque aka u/D-WTF on Reddit. Available on Reddit here, and Instagram here. SPOILERS FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES ARE UNMARKED.

YouTube channel LilyCOMICDUBSVA has also started a fan dub of the comics which periodically updates. A second YouTube channel, Will Starshine has also made a fan dub of the comics as well. It's also been uploaded here with express permission.

Tropes in this comic include:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Grime still can't get Marcy's name right, continuing to call her "Marsha" when they reunite.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Marcy retains her habit of calling Sasha "Sashy" for short.
  • Amazon Chaser: Downplayed, but Sasha has shades of this, excitedly asking what moves Anne broke out in the fight that Maddie witnessed in Chapter 29.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Polly apparently lost her arm sometime during the timeskip and now wears a mechanical replacement. The last panel of Chapter 39 shows Grime has one as well to replace his chopped-off left arm.
  • And I Must Scream: As Anne delivers a No Hold Barred Beatdown on Sasha in Chapter 33 due to being mind-controlled by the wasp queen, she visibly tears up and her pupils dilate even though she has a sadistic grin on her face, indicating that she is fully aware and horrified of what she's doing to her girlfriend.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Chapter 41 has Grime understandably worried about the main plan to get back the trio's Calamity powers hinging on their road trip, given that currently only Marcy has her powers back, there is no concrete way of getting them back and they have no idea when the evil trio will strike, meaning that if they attack at the very next moment our heroes are frogged. He immediately wants to join the fight and look for alternate ways to fight the evil trio in the meantime. Sasha immediately stops him as he is clearly no match for the incoming enemy, resulting in an argument.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • Downplayed with Sasha and Marcy. While both were extremely important characters in canon, Sasha only really gained a pseudo-main character position in the latter half of Season 3, and Marcy only got such a position in the finale, due to being an unwilling vessel of the Core, with the Plantars, Sprig in particular, superseding them as the main characters. Here, both girls are main characters from the outset alongside Anne, the two receiving just as much focus as her and the trio treated as co-leads, rather than any one of them being the main lead.
    • Maddie joins the principal cast once the Calamity Trio makes it to Amphibia and runs into her while trying to tame a snail, with the now group of four traveling together to Wartwood, and Maddie acting as a Shipper on Deck trying to help Marcy confess to Sasha and Anne.
  • The Atoner: Played With. As Andrias puts it, Marcy's pushing for Anne and Sasha to get together as a way to make up for her mistakes. He tells her that she has nothing to correct and encourages her to find happiness, which earns him a hug.
  • Author Appeal: Dr_Neque loves throwing in references to various Anime and Manga, most prominently doing tons of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure references like various poses.
  • Berserker Tears: After Andrias is killed by the Calamity Robot of Heart, Marcy goes into Calamity form, and prepares to fight the robot again filled with rage and grief. Not even Sasha is able to hold her back.
  • Big Bad: The rogue Calamity Trio from another dimension. Also known as the Chaos trio]].
  • Big Damn Kiss:
    • Chapter 11 has Anne and Sasha do this, becoming an Official Couple.
    • Downplayed in Chapter 30, but Marcy kisses Sasha on the cheek, officially making her feelings known.
    • Sasha and Marcy do a straight version of this in chapter 53 to cement their Relationship Upgrade once Marcy finally admits her feelings.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Right as Marcy's last ditch attack on the Cloakbot possessed by the alternate Calamity Warrior of Heart fails and it attempts to maim her, she's saved thanks to it being sent flying... by Barrel's Hammer, thrown by Andrias.
  • Big Damn Reunion:
    • Downplayed in Chapter 8, where the first Amphibian the Calamity Trio encounter is Andrias, who has a brief meaningful conversation with Marcy.
    • The first page of Chapter 40 is devoted to Sasha reuniting with Grime, complete with Ocular Gushers.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: Chapter 44 and 45 is this for Marcy, as Sasha notes that Marcy may have earned herself a longer duration in Calamity form, she has no control over her strength as she is throwing punches with shockwaves casually and will tire herself out faster as a result. Sasha has to teach her the basics of hand-to-hand combat to help deal with that.
  • Breather Episode: Chapter 37 mainly consists of the Calamity Trio patching up from their injuries from their earlier adventure in the Wasp Queen's nest, particularly Sasha.
  • Brick Joke:
    • Chapter 37 has Marcy asking Sasha to chew her hair to calm down from all the noise the latter is making when patching up her injuries, while Sasha initially refuses. A few panels later show her chewing Marcy's hair.
    • Chapter 39 shows a familiar looking toad selling butt scratchers, and after a while Maddie decides to buy one from him.
  • Call-Back:
    • Sasha still keeps knives in her boots.
    • After Sasha, Marcy, and Anne officially start their poly relationship, Sasha quips that she always wanted to "dual wield", calling back to when Grime gifted her the silver heron sword.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Mr. X has no problem being sassy while on the phone with Anne while also participating in a high speed chase trying to avoid the United States Government, including throwing grenades out the car window.
  • Clone Angst: Anne has a massive case of this after her death and subsequent resurrection. She confesses to Sasha that she's worried about whether she's really the same Anne, or just an impostor who took over her life.
  • Cryptic Background Reference: As the Calamity Warrior of Heart possessed Cloakbot is fighting Andrias, they begin ranting about a grudge they have on the Leviathan lineage, specifically saying it wished it had the chance to kill Aldrich, Andrias's father, themself but no longer could due to the Guardian beating them to the punch. Andrias tries asking them to elaborate and briefly expresses pity toward them for possibly being a victim of Aldrich, the Cloakbot doesn't want to hear it, and merely tells Andrias right before killing him to "Tell your father one of the million soldiers he sent to die in a pointless conquest sent you.", suggesting they are somehow connected to the Newtopian army of Aldrich's era.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Chapter 27 has Anne effortlessly beat down the possessed newt. When a very shocked Maddie asks where did those combat skills come from the next chapter, Anne replies that her Muay Thai skills is ranked at Mongkol 8 while approaching 9.note And she is still holding back for the sake of Marcy.
    • Chapter 31 has the Calamity trio fight off the possessed staff along with the olms while Maddie creates a way forward. The end result is the entire possessed staff and olms getting knocked out by the trio, who were holding back on killing them since they are possessed which also makes them victims.
    • The first encounter with the Chaos trio from Chapters 47 to 51 is so one-sided that it ironically became the reason why our trio is still alive.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Combined with Declaration of Protection. After Marcy can only sit and watch a Brainwashed and Crazy Anne nearly beat Sasha to death as she berates herself for being weak and always needing to be protected, she resolves to protect Anne and Sasha this time, and no longer beat herself up, throwing aside her jacket as she becomes the first to reawaken her Calamity powers.
  • Dead Person Conversation: Marcy and Andrias have one final talk at the border between life and the afterlife in Part 52, the two saying goodbye before Andrias passes on and reunites with Leif and Barrel.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • The original Domino, being a normal cat, passed away sometime during the 10 year timeskip implicitly of old age. While the reminder of her passing makes Anne sad, Chapter 4.5 shows that Anne found another cat that greatly resembles her.
    • Andrias dies fighting off the Cloak Bot possessed by the Chaos Warrior of Heart while protecting the Calamity Trio.
  • Demoted to Extra: Whereas the Plantar Family was part of the core cast in the original series, and still maintained a good amount of relevance even when the Calamity Trio took center stage, here they're largely The Ghost by virtue of the cast still trying to find most of them. Hop Pop is the only one they know the location of in Wartwood, but they have to reach Wartwood first before he can even appear.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Sasha wants to bring her car along as the trio's transport. Anne and Marcy note that it would quickly get stuck in the mud if it didn't run out of gas first, forcing her to leave it behind.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: When she officially appears Polly is revealed to have lost an arm, using a mechanical one as a replacement. In the original series, Polly keeps both her arms intact by the end of the show.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Combined with Noodle Incident, but Sasha won't let Marcy drive her car after she somehow got a car stuck in the air ducts on the third floor of a mall.
  • Epic Fail: Subverted. To bypass the Wasp Queen's hard exoskeleton, Anne resorts to kicking Maddie's last bomb into its mouth. However, she kicked too hard and all it did was smash their last bomb against her shoe. If it wasn't for the wasp eating the same shoe shortly afterwards, it wouldn't have caused the intended result Anne was hoping for. Anne herself isn't pleased that she had to lose her right shoe again though.
  • Everyone Can See It: Everyone can tell that Marcy is feeling like a third wheel after Sasha and Anne start their relationship. Even Andrias, who is blind. Maddie stands out though in that she can not only tell that, but also tell that Marcy is in denial over her feelings for Anne. After Marcy gives Sasha a kiss on the cheek in Chapter 30, Anne and Sasha have seemed to pick up on it and agree to save it for after the matter at hand is resolved.
  • Evil Counterpart: The "Chaos Trio" serve as this to the Calamity Trio. Like the Calamity Trio, they were meant to be the chosen warriors of their Calamity Gems, but became Drunk with Power and killed their Guardian, proceeding to visit other worlds and kill the warriors of those worlds to steal their powers for themselves. Whereas the Calamity Trio is solely human and care greatly for one another, the Chaos Trio are all different races of Amphibians and can barely stand each other. Individually:
    • Chaos!Heart is one to Anne. He's largely cold and cruel compared to Anne's bleeding heart, and lost his original body like Anne did, having to use the Cloakbot as a new body.
    • Chaos!Strength is one to Sasha. They're some kind of salamander whereas Sasha was associated with Toads, and a Blood Knight who won't hesitate to kill those weaker than them, compared to Sasha once being a manipulative Control Freak.
    • Chaos!Wit is one to Marcy. He's a toad whereas Marcy was associated with Newts, and cold and pragmatic Mad Scientist, compared to Marcy's more enthusiastic love for science and emotional behavior.
  • Eye Scream: Maddie loses their right eye to Chaos!Strength as he wails on them.
  • Face Death with Dignity: In Chapter 50, Andrias engages with the Calamity Warrior of Heart Cloakbot in a one on one battle, managing to bite it's arm clean off. It proceeds to remotely detonate the arm though, killing them in the explosion. Andrias had fully anticipated that they were going to die however, even asking Sasha to hold Marcy back, their final words used to ask Anne and Sasha to not leave Marcy alone.
  • Fastball Special: Chapter 31 has Maddie ask Sasha to do this with her so that she can reach the door on the balcony above. She has to ask the latter to hold back to avoid getting splattered against the wall.
  • Fighting from the Inside: As a mind-controlled Anne is laying a beatdown on Sasha, Sasha declares that she won't fight back against her, having tried to hurt her twice a decade ago, declares her love for her and banks on Anne performing this trope to stop herself. She's right, and Anne manages to stop one of her punches.
  • Final Boss Preview: Parts 47 to 51 serve as this regarding the "Chaos Trio". Chaos!Heart alone proceeds to absolutely decimate the Calamity Trio, even killing Andrias and wrecking Anne and Sasha's weapons while shrugging off Marcy's Calamity powers. The arrival of Chaos!Strength and Chaos!Wit makes it even worse, as the former curb stomps Anne, Sasha, and Maddie when they try to save Marcy from the latter, and the only reason they're left alive is because Chaos!Wit realizes they're still building up Calamity power inside themselves, giving all of them the ultimatum of either accumulating enough Calamity power to face them within three months, or they'll raze Amphibia to the ground.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Played with regarding Andrias. When the Calamity Trio run into him in Chapter 8, Marcy is the only one actually happy to see him, largely due to having made peace with him as a person, even if she still suffers some trauma from being stabbed by him. Anne and Sasha on the other hand are a different story, with Anne being somewhat apprehensive around him but willing to believe he's truly changed, and Sasha heavily on guard and quick to draw her sword, making clear she still doesn't trust him after everything he's done.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Mr. X's division is named Calamity Regiment Of Amphibia Knights aka C.R.O.A.K.
  • The Ghost: While the Plantars have been regularly mentioned, none of them have actually physically appeared yet. Hop Pop is back in Wartwood still, but is busy with both his Avocado farm and acting, while Sprig, Polly, Frobo, and Ivy have been going back and forth to the undiscovered continent for the better part of eight years, with no one having heard from any of them in half a year. And while everyone in Amphibia has phones now, Hop Pop is one of the few who refuses to ever have one, and none of the Calamity Trio can reach the latter four, not even on Anne's old phone that she gave Sprig before leaving Amphibia.
    • Part 36.5 reveals Polly, Sprig, and Ivy Sundew for the first time in the comic. They've all grown up, and Polly seems to have had her right arm replaced with a prosthetic.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Played for Laughs. After Marcy teases them again about getting married, Anne and Sasha decide to get some payback by having Anne flirt with Marcy, even whispering sensually into her ear. Not only does this cause Marcy to pass out with a nosebleed and pull a Yamcha pose, Sasha passes out from watching.
    Anne: What did I do?!
Maddie: She has a faint heart.
Anne: (Pointing at Sasha) Yeah, but her?!
  • Handicapped Badass: Andrias's injuries have slowly caught up with him since the trio left Amphibia, now being completely blind and needing to use Barrel's Hammer as a cane, Anne even noticing his hand trembling from the effort to hold onto it. Doesn't stop him from pulling a Big Damn Heroes moment by saving Marcy from the alternate Calamity Warrior of Heart. He was even able to put up a good fight with it, even after it slashes him in his back. He was even able to bite it's arm clean off. However, this would cost him his life, and Andrias fought it knowing the outcome.
  • Healthy in Heaven: After Andrias is killed by Chaos!Heart, he briefly appears to Marcy as a ghost, being visibly younger with all of his limbs intact and sight restored.
  • Hearing Voices: Darcy still exists on some level inside Marcy's psyche, appearing in Part 52 to try and Kick Them While They're Down when Marcy is teetering on the edge of life and death. Dr_Neque would explain in the comments that "Darcy" is more accurately the personification of Marcy's guilt, and this wasn't the first time she's shown up to needle Marcy, hence Marcy's annoyance at her presence rather than surprise.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: After learning from Maddie that what she and Sasha ate wasn't what they actually thought it was, but instead rotten body parts, Anne is visibly disgusted and pissed off, Maddie warning her that she and Sasha are likely gonna feel sick later.
  • I Need You Stronger: Ultimately what saves the lives of the Calamity Trio after their one-sided first fight against the Chaos Trio. Them never fully mastering their Calamity powers meant that there is little power to absorb, so they were given a three-month deadline to get stronger or Amphibia will be wiped off the map.
  • Idiot Ball: Despite having time to prepare, the trio only packed two weeks worth of junk food and nothing else. No local currency or any other survival supplies. If it wasn't for Sasha hiding knives in her boots and their nearby old weapons, they wouldn't have even made it to the Second Temple.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: While Grime is happy to see Anne at first, the moment he learns she's dating Sasha, he asks Marcy and Maddie to leave so he can have a chat with Anne and Sasha, all set to give Anne the "shovel talk". Sasha can easily tell where this is going and goes for the strong alcohol.
  • I'm Crying, but I Don't Know Why: After learning Anne and Sasha got together, Marcy is happy for them but doesn’t understand why she is crying about it, due to her being in denial about her own feelings.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: As a sequel series, this comic assumes you watched the entire show beforehand. Particularly the events of "True Colours", "All In" and "The Hardest Thing" along with the character of Darcy.
  • Luminescent Blush: Sasha breaks out in one after Marcy kisses her in Chapter 30.
  • Mistaken for Pregnant: After meeting Sasha and Anne again, Grime takes note of Anne reaching her stomach and takes it to mean that she and Sasha are expecting, briefly forgetting the Potty Emergency Anne had earlier. The flustered couple is quick to remind him of that.
  • Multi-Melee Master: Upon returning to Amphibia, Sasha reclaims her Pink Heron Sword. As the Silver Heron Sword was left with Grime and is his weapon currently however, she's defaulted to wielding knives in conjunction with it while maintaining her Dual Wielding.
  • Oblivious to Love: Downplayed. Marcy is fully aware she has feelings for Sasha, she's just choosing to ignore them so Anne and Sasha can be happy. She fails to realize she also has feelings for Anne, with Maddie managing to pick up on it when suggesting Marcy, Sasha, and Anne enter a poly relationship.
  • Passing the Torch: Via Andrias's final conversation with Marcy, Barrel informs the Calamity Trio that he wants Sasha to take up his hammer, being a big fan of hers and believing she is more than worthy to wield it.
  • Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: Marcy has a massive scar on her chest and presumably her back showing where King Andrias ran her through with his sword. Every time she sees it, it is a reminder of her stunt that caused the trio so much suffering in a Death World. She has noted to have been seeing a therapist.
  • Plot Armor: Invoked. Anne wonders since she is supposed to live to her nineties, she wonders if she can just run straight into danger and not worry about anything. Turns out that it is was a joke by "Domino" to lighten the mood before they parted and the future is always in flux. Anne is not amused, as she spent countless days thinking about her supposed time limit.
  • Potty Emergency: Anne ends up having one of these after eating rotten food from the hotel, suffering one so bad she ends up destroying a toilet and causing people near the restroom to flee in panic. Sasha is left horrified, as she ate the same food and fears having the same thing happening to her, asking Maddie to also fetch her some medicine when she goes to buy some for Anne.
  • Polyamory: Anne, Sasha, and Marcy end up in this kind of relationship at the end of part 53.
  • The Reveal: Turns out that our trio never truly lost their Calamity powers after the series ended. It has been resting dormant inside their bodies and has been slowly growing in power with time. That was how Mr. X found them and why Earth is in danger.
  • Running Gagged: Anne managed to end the Running Gag about her always losing a shoe... by just tying one of the laces on one shoe to the other shoe. She ends up ecstatic when she sees it actually worked. She loses it anyway when saving Maddie from the Wasp Queen, much to her irritation.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Andrias dying against the Chaos Warrior of Heart while fighting it off drives in how currently outmatched our heroes are against the new threat.
  • Scars Are Forever: The scars on Sasha and Marcy never healed, only fading slightly over the decade.
  • Shipper on Deck: Played for Drama. Marcy is this to Anne and Sasha, helping each of them on separate occasions to realize their feeling for one another. It turns out that she also has feelings for Sasha as well, but chooses to remain as the third wheel as she feels that she doesn't deserve Sasha for what she did to her and Anne. Upon learning this, Maddie decides to help Marcy reveal her feelings to Sasha without needing to hurt Anne by confessing to them both.
    • Interestingly, Andrias, Maddie, and Grime all seem to be this for Marcy and the other two, with the latter two suggesting that Marcy enter a polyamorous relationship with Sasha and Anne, to the Wu girl's embarassment.
  • Shout-Out: While the Calamity trio and Maddie are exploring the newly established Pebbleridge, a toad resembling Peter Griffin is seen selling butt scratchers.
  • Spotting the Thread: While everyone notices something is off about the Overlook Hotel, no one can quite put their finger on just what is wrong. Marcy however manages to figure it out when she is given a rotten heron eye for room service and told it's "Chicken Fly Nuggets", but Maddie sees and smells it as "Rice with Kraken Tentacles", cluing Marcy to the fact that the entire hotel has a glamour effect on it, but only Marcy can see what's really there.
  • Super Cell Reception: "Domino" gives the Calamity Trio this for their phones, allowing them to keep in contact with Earth. This later becomes an issue back on Earth as Anne's reckless usage of her phone without turning off cloud sharing blew the cover of C.R.O.A.K, alerting the government that Amphibia is an problem again.
  • Taken for Granite: Marcy and Maddie end up petrified thanks to the Chicka-lisk.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: When the "Chaos Trio" make their debut in Part 51, its made clear they can barely stand each other. Chaos!Strength holds Fantastic Racism towards Chaos!Wit for being a toad, Chaos!Heart threatens to tear Chaos!Strength's face off after shoving him, and Chaos!Wit admonishes Chaos!Heart for leaving the Calamity Trio is such poor conditions when they arrived.
  • There Is Another: Chapter 10 reveals why "Domino" called the trio over. It turns out that in a separate dimension, their Calamity trio got corrupted by power and even managed to kill the very Guardian that gave them their powers. After that, they have been mastering their dimension hopping powers and systematically targeting other Calamity users in other dimensions for their powers, with our trio being their next target. "Domino" brought them to Amphibia to help them regain and harness their powers now that they are old enough to handle them without adverse side effects while keeping Earth out of the danger zone. The author clarifies that "Domino" is the guardian of the multiverse, but only the part that is bound to his dimension.
  • There Was a Door: When Grime comes looking for Marcy so he can find and apologize to Sasha, he jumps through the wall to do so. After he and Sasha reconcile and he decides to go to bed, he jumps through a second wall to take his leave. When Sasha decides to set something up for Marcy in the backyard, she jumps through a third wall.
  • Together in Death: Shortly after his death in Chapter 50, Andrias is finally reunited with his childhood friends Leif and Barrel in Chapter 52.
  • Trauma Button: Marcy still has PTSD from being taken over by the Core. Coming across any allusions that she will be possessed in any way will cause her to undergo a Heroic BSoD. When the "Overlook Hotel" is revealed to be the "Took Over Hotel", she immediately undergoes a panic attack and has to be carried away to safety by Sasha.
  • Wham Shot:
    • The end of Part 23 sees the Calamity Trio and Maddie come face to face with an old friend under less than ideal circumstances: Wally, taking on the role of Jack Torrance, and flanked by two Olms, all set to attack them.
    • Chapter 36.5 reveals the grown-up trio of Sprig, Polly and Ivy currently in an unknown part of the new continent witnessing a trio of red, blue and green stars fly over the sky.
    • Chapter 47 has the girls come upon the Ruins of Despair, and find something operating in one of them. It reveals itself to be a damaged but still functioning Cloakbot. Not just any Cloakbot though, it's the one that hunted Anne back on Earth she thought she destroyed. Even more shocking though? It's glowing blue. Just like Anne's Calamity powers.
  • Whole-Plot Reference:
    • Starting with Part 19, the comic recreates The Shining for the Calamity Trio and Maddie. After getting caught in a rainstorm during Monsoon season, the foursome come across the Overlook Hotel, Maddie noting nothing had been there before despite it's claims of being there for years, and the group has to spend the night due to the storm. The group likewise ends up paralleling the characters, with Marcy acting as Danny, Anne and Sasha sharing the role of Wendy, Maddie taking the role of Dick, Wally taking the role of Jack, and two Olms acting as the Grady Twins.
    • Downplayed, but Parts 47 to 51 serve as one to the debut of the Pillar Men in Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure Battle Tendency, with one member of a villainous trio, Wamuu and Chaos!Heart respectively, serving as a Final Boss Preview by decimating the main heroes on their own before deciding to spare them while leaving them with a time limit to get stronger. Bonus points for said villain managing to be a Hero Killer by killing off someone close to the heroes when they try to fight in the heroes stead, Caesar Zeppeli and Andrias respectively.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Sasha's Pink Heron Sword and the saber Grime gave to Anne are both snapped in two after the Cloakbot possessed by the Calamity Warrior of Heart catches them.
  • You Are Too Late: In Part 32, it turns out that the whole time, our trio is already under the mind control spell. It is just a matter when it kicks in. This is because the "rain" outside the hotel at the very start of the story arc was actually the queen firing her toxins into the sky. Meanwhile, any helpless sap seeking shelter from the "rain" will inevitably go to the conveniently placed hotel, which is actually its nest that was decorated by the victims that it didn't eat to make it look like an ordinary hotel. As it keeps pressing the trio to keep asking for answers to stall for time, it casually drops the bombshell that Anne has just succumbed to the mind control.
