ralphthemoviemaker is a YouTube channel hosted by Ralph Sepe primarily known for reviewing movies. The channel's most popular series is Reasons X Sucks!, where Ralph analyses and reviews bad movies in a "watch-along" style, with lots of Snark and many funny skits along the way. In contrast, the REEL IT IN reviews are more laid back and feature less comedy, focusing more on giving an accurate review of the movie, and featuring more diverse movie quality. Ralph uploads a lot of other things to the channel. Top 10 lists, analyses, behind the scenes, shitpost, etcetera.

After his review on Wish Upon, Ralph announced he would be retiring from reviews after his video on Justice League (2017), but will continue his Ralph Recommends series, where he recommends movies. Following the review in question, Ralph revealed he's not retiring, but would make reviews less regularly to focus on his other projects.

As the channel name would suggest, he is also a movie creator, with many of said movies having their trailers uploaded to the channel, not uploaded in their entirety. His first feature-length movie, Lover, was released on December 14, 2018.

His YouTube channel can be found here.

Tropes used on ralphthemoviemaker:

  • Accentuate the Negative: In Reasons X Sucks! at least.
  • Audience-Alienating Premise: In-Universe, He describes Smosh: The Movie as being "Too inappropriate for kids, too long for teenagers, too immature for adults, and too out of touch for older people."
  • Berserk Button: Ralph already hates The Bye Bye Man as is, with the sheer stupidity as a breaking point, but reading the few positive reviews it got on Rotten Tomatoes and hearing that people thought it was "well-executed" makes him absolutely furious.
Ralph: [reading a review] Well-executed? What was well executed?! I hope you get fucking executed! How much did they pay you to give this movie a good review? You WHORE!
  • Big Damn Heroes: Bruce Willis in the Aquaman review.
Bruce Willis: Sorry I'm two months late to your video, kid.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: When describing his experience watching Despicable Me 2 in the theater, he says every possible demographic was there. Old, young, black, white, Nazis...
  • Brick Joke: Bruce Willis comes to Ralph's house in a Big Damn Heroes moment in the Aquaman review, a review that comes after the Reprisal review where he didn't show up at Ralph's apartment.
  • Broke the Rating Scale: He hated The Bye Bye Man so much, he not only states that its mere 23% score on Rotten Tomatoes is too high, but even the movie having a flat out 0% score would have been too high.
  • Child Hater: In his review of Fantastic Four (2015), he says that he hates children more than anything else, going so far as to say that Children of Men is his favourite movie just because there aren't any children.
  • Damned by Faint Praise: Ralph says that Ghostbusters (2016) actually presented a lot of first for a Sony film, including having a coherent story, a plot that moves forward, and scenes that serve a purpose and lead to the next scene.
Ralph: A lot of their movies don't do that.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His style of commentary is exceptionally dry, although he does have moments of excitement.
  • Digital Piracy Is Okay: At the start of Reasons SUICIDE SQUAD Sucks!, Ralph can clearly be seen torrenting the movie.
  • Drinking Game: Ralph and a friend of his do one for the review of CHiPs, taking a drink every time there is nudity, Chevy product placement, or a car chase. By the end, they're pretty hammered.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: In the Suicide Squad review, when questioning why Harley Quinn has a huge cell for herself, the video cuts to a commenter trying to explain it, before realizing his explanation makes no sense.
Some Asshole: "ralph, the reason harley has a big cel is 1 of the gurds works for the joker and is able to supply her with a larger cell you could say that doesn't make any sense either, cause how does a prison guard have to power to put her in a giant cell also how does no one notice or question this officer whithout thinking that he may work for the joker and..." Beat "...fuck it, nevermind"
  • Fake Crossover: CuteFuzzyWeasel appears in the "Worst of 2015" video to help Ralph with the list. But by the time of the #8 choice, Weasel starts to question the legitimacy of the list when Ralph puts The Martian on the list simply because it won "Best Comedy" despite it not being very funny. Ralph then proceeds to end their Skype call and Weasel's presence is never brought up again.
  • Gainax Ending: The Barney video ends with one of these.
  • Mind Screw: The second half of CHILDHOOD TRAUMA consists mainly of this.
Barney: Next time i ask you something, you better answer. Unless you wanna go back in the TV.
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer:
    • For several scenes in the Love on a leash review, there's a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen saying that the clip has not been messed with. Why would you think they were tampered with? Because they're dead silent.
    • In his review of Nine Lives (2016), he stops the review to point out that Cheryl Hines' character really is called "This Cunt". However, this is actually a subversion since the page is edited.
    • He does a similar joke in his review of Sleepless, where he claims that the movie was also called "Black Taken"
  • Self-Deprecation: In Reasons MINIONS (2015) Sucks!, Ralph mentions a friend he has who had been sheltered all his life and asks him what he thought of Minions. He replies that he really liked it and that it was probably his favorite movie of the year. Ralph replies by asking why he's talking to himself.
  • Series Fauxnale: His review of Justice League (2017) was at the time confirmed to be his final review, after which he will be retiring from movie reviews... only for him to be threatened in-universe into continuing.
  • Shout-Out: The opening of Ralph's review of The Haunting of Sharon Tate is very stylistically similar to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
  • Shown Their Work: In the God's Not Dead 2 review, he looks up the myriad of court cases listed in the credits that supposedly "inspired" the film, and points out that almost none of them have anything to do with the film's central topic whatsoever.
  • Shutting Up Now: In Reasons SUICIDE SQUAD Sucks!, after Ralph questions why Harley Quinn gets such a big cell, he receives a YouTube comment by "Some Asshole" explaining it. But halfway through his own comment, "Some Asshole" realizes the movie's explanation doesn't make any sense either and he abruptly cuts off saying "fuck it never mind."
  • Take That, Audience!: Ralph's way of making fun of the audience is normally showing an argument against what he's saying in the form of a youtube comment by an user named "Some Asshole".
  • The Bus Came Back: Meta example; after a while of not appearing in Ralph's videos, Ralph's brother Michael made a reappearance in his mini-series Golden Hour.
  • Tyop on the Cover: In CHILDHOOD TRAUMA, he misspelled the title. He denies this in the comments.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Ralph find a plethora of examples in his review of The Bye Bye Man.
Elliot: I heard something after the party, outside, scratching.
John: What do you mean "heard something"?
Ralph: Great dialogue. "What do you mean 'heard something'?". He means he heard something.
  • Viewers Are Morons:
    • What his final speech near the end of his Transformers Age Of Extinction review comes down to. Where he sites the film franchises continual success on audiences showing up in droves to support these types of films. Blaming foreign audiences in particular for valuing spectacle over story.
Ralph: When the masses show up to see a movie they don't care about anything but spectacle. They don't want to see movies that make them think, they want to see explosions and action for as long as possible so that they can escape their miserable lives. Movies like this will keep getting worse, and worse, and worse. And it doesn't even matter if it doesn't make any money over here, if it makes money in China it's a hit.
    • He seems to really enforce this in his Joker (2019) review, criticizing the fanbase as just being this since they seem to take a lot of the elements the movie did as being unique and original.
  • Voice Clip Song: Creates one of Malina Weissman's many "Daddy!" quotes in his Nine Lives (2016) Review.
  • Wham Line: From the Justice League review: "SURPRISE BITCH!!!"
