The Haunting of Sharon Tate is a 2019 American horror film written and directed by Daniel Farrands and starring Hilary Duff in the lead role.

Actress Sharon Tate suffers from nightmarish premonitions about her impending murder at the hands of the Manson family.

Tropes in The Haunting of Sharon Tate:

  • Ambiguous Situation: Was the entire ending sequence an Alternate Universe or a Dying Dream? It's never made clear.
  • Discovering Your Own Dead Body: At the end of the movie, Sharon and her friends return to their house to find the police investigating their deaths.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: The main plot of the movie is Sharon Tate having nightmares of her murder, based on a comment she made in a Real Life interview.
  • Foregone Conclusion: For those who have at least a minor knowledge of American history, or simply read the tagline, just like in real life, Tate and her friends get murdered.
  • Hope Spot: Sharon and her friends manage to fight off or kill the Manson family, only to discover that apparently it wasn't real, and they actually died.
  • Jump Scare: The film overuses this, and fails at it, since many times they're obviously telegraphed (several times, the sound cue plays a second before we see the character pop up).
  • Never Trust a Title: There's absolutely nothing supernatural in the movie, unless you count the nightmares themselves.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Hilary Duff's (and a lot of the other characters') "California" accent keeps appearing and disappearing.
  • Precision F-Strike: Sharon tells Tex "Fuck you" before shooting him in the face.
  • Pregnant Badass: An eight-month pregnant Sharon rushes in to save Steven from his encounter with Tex and succeeds. Then when the three Manson acolytes have everyone herded in Sharon's living room, she stands up to face Tex, spits in his face and slashes his stomach, creating an opportunity for her friends to overwhelm their captors.
  • Spiteful Spit: Sharon defiantly spits in Tex's face before slashing him.
  • Stock Footage: An establishing shot of the moon is seen three times in the movie. There's also a lot of archival footage of Sharon Tate.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: Despite their constant musings about fate, Sharon and her friends are ultimately unable to stop their real-life deaths.
