"The FINAL arc to end the SMG4 cosmology lore!"
— Official description

Mario goes to college… and things still manage to shift into maximum overdrive from there.

The Revelations Arc is the sixth major SMG4 Story Arc, the direct sequel to the Genesis Arc, and the third and final instalment of the Cosmology Lore trilogy.

Determined to protect her friends and control her powers after being forced to kill her boyfriend Axol in order to stop Zero and going on a rampage, Melony heads off to Omnia Academy, alongside Meggy, Mario, Luigi, Bob and Fishy Boopkins. But as they try to adjust to college life, little do they suspect that their run-ins with a weird box-obsessed cult and Melony’s encounters with a mysterious delinquent will lead to something beeg… especially for Melony…

Episodes

Note: Episodes marked with * are not counted as official episodes, but are still connected to the plot.

Tropes

  • Academy of Adventure: Most episodes take place at Omnia Academy, a college where everything is taught via school clubs.
  • All for Nothing: Killing Axol in the last arc wasn't the end for Zero.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: The Box Club leader and Zero… kinda.
  • Breaking Old Trends: It's the second arc to directly follow up on another arc, as well as the first one to conclude with a Big Damn Movie.note
  • Cerebus Syndrome: It initially starts as a mostly light-hearted arc about Melony, Mario and friends going to college. And then the one-two punch of "Mario and the God Box" and "Absolute Betrayal" happen and all bets are off from there.
  • College Is "High School, Part 2": The campus is fairly small for a college, the school mostly takes place in a singular building, etc. It's entirely a high school but deemed a college so that the cast (which is mostly made up of adults) can attend it.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Meggy starts off as the main protagonist of the arc after Melony as they both study for their dreams at Omnia Academy. Sometime in the middle, however, the focus to Meggy slowly shifts away to Melony, to the point where she's either absent in a main arc episode or doesn't contribute as much to the plot of the week. Come the graduation ceremony, only Melony graduates, and Meggy admits she has some catching up to do.
  • Filler: Like the previous arc, there are filler episodes between major plot points, notably with Mario having adventures that have nothing to do with the arc. Mario manages to cause two separate apocalypses that have no bearing on the story. An episode of "Mario Does Things", which usually gets posted on Wednesdays, was posted on the 26th of March (which was on a Saturday) specifically to give the fans something to enjoy while the GLITCH crew work on the following week's movie.
  • Foreshadowing: Zero being involved in the arc was hinted at with the symbol on the God Box logo. While this may have been a coincidence In-Universe, "that guy" is definitely getting associated. There's also a suspiciously frequent usage of his number. Then he turns out to be a Red Herring.
  • Grand Finale: This arc serves as the conclusion of the six part Cosmology saga that had previously started back in The YouTube Arc.
  • He's Back!: Villainous example. You thought Zero's reign of terror was over? Take a good look at that one eyed bully.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: After the Box Club leader was presented as the main villain for most of the arc, "Absolute Betrayal" reveals Zero as the mastermind, and the club leader is promptly Demoted to Dragon.
  • Lighter and Softer: Subverted. It seems like crazy shenanigans would happen at college while Meggy is training to be a sports coach and Melony hopes to be strong enough to protect her friends, right? Crazy shenanigans, yes. Melony protects her friends? The opposite occurs.
  • Returning Big Bad: Niles turns out to be none other than Zero, who is here to find the God Box himself. Ends up being heavily Zigzagged.
  • Sequel Episode: The first arc to be a direct follow-up to a previous arc.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
    • Yet again, Bob is this. He tries helping Melony train her deity powers, which ends up causing her to go to Omnia Academy, which gives Zero an ideal opportunity to manipulate Melony to get to the God Box.
    • Mario, wanting to join a club and being banned from the rest due to his shenanigans, joins the kooky but seemingly harmless Box Club. That said, he also qualifies as a Spanner in the Works thanks to him kidnapping students leading the SMGs straight to the Box Club, leading to SMG1 and SMG2 learning their motive and explaining the dangers of the God Box.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Melony is trying to control her deity power so that she can protect her friends. Unbeknownst to her, the guy who's helping her train wanted to use that power for himself, so when Melony finally has enough control over her power, Niles/Zero takes over.
  • Women Are Wiser: Played with. Meggy and Melony got into Omnia Academy via entrance exams while Bob and Fishy Boopkins got in on a special needs program but Luigi points out, that thanks to the shenanigans that Meggy and Melony had to go through to pass the exams, he and Mario technically qualified.
