Go To

Mario gets in beeg trouble and is sent to infinite detention

A meme research demonstration goes horribly awry and lands Mario, SMG4, Meggy, and Melony in detention. Now they must try to behave themselves under Chris and Swag's watch...which is an impossible task for Mario, of course. Meanwhile, Melony has to deal with a bully constantly provoking her.

The first appearance of Niles, the true Big Bad of the Cosmology Saga.

  • All for Nothing: Even though Mario, SMG4, Meggy, and Melony overpower Swagmaster, they caused a bit of destruction in the process, which puts them on janitor duty.
  • The Bus Came Back: SMG1 and 2 make their return after the 2021 WOTFI, revealing that they're now working at Omnia Academy as heads of the Meme Research Club.
  • Call-Back: SMG1 and 2's lesson provides a refresher on SMG4's ability to convert memes into energy and empower Mario.
  • Chekhov's Gun: SMG4 and Meggy initially leave detention by rapidly writing "Swag is best" a bajillion times. When they escape to the gym, they write "Swag is best" all over the room, distracting Swag.
  • Detention Episode: Naturally, the episode revolves around Mario, SMG4, Meggy, and Melony getting put in detention for disrupting Mr. Kawashima's class after Mario unwillingly absorbs too much meme energy and shapeshifts into a rocket that crashes into all of them.
  • Guilt by Association Gag: Mario was literally the only guilty party when it came to destroying Kawashima's classroom. Melony, Meggy, and SMG4 had nothing to do with it, and Melony was the only one of them who was in Kawashima's class.
  • Karma Houdini: The bully who picks on Melony throughout the episode receives no comeuppance for blaming her for his own actions, and the episode ends with him mocking her yet again.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: The Box Club try to stand up to the pursuing Swag, to no avail.
    Leader: Oh well we tried.
  • Not So Above It All: SMG4 and Meggy contribute to the madness in detention when they compete to see who can finish Writing Lines the fastest, going outside the chalkboard and scribbling all over the room.
  • Out of the Frying Pan: After defeating Swag and escaping detention, the gang is put into infinite janitor duty by Kawashima. Mario doesn't seem to mind.
Mario: Heyy janitor duty for all eternity beats detention, right guys???
  • Phlebotinum Overdose: Mario accidentally spits a ball of meme energy at SMG1 and SMG2, causing their meme manipulation abilities to go out of control.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: As soon as SMG4 and Meggy finish Writing Lines, they see no reason to get involved in any of the ongoing chaos and leave detention. Unfortunately, they get roped right back into the mess on their way back to class.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Both Mario and Swag think that stuffing engines with spaghetti is a good idea.
  • Trickster Mentor: The detention bully who picks on Melony also acts as her guide in controlling her god powers, all while mocking her every time she fails. Case in point, he throws stuff at Swag and pins it on Melony so she can learn to properly dodge whatever Swag tosses back at her.
  • Writing Lines: Swag instructs the students in detention to write "Swag is best" on the board before they can leave. Only SMG4 and Meggy follow his instructions, but take it a step further by writing across the walls and ceilings to outdo each other.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: The Box Club leader and his followers come to the gang's aid and stand in Swag's way when Mario says Swag's trying to hurt boxes. Swag just barrels through them, but points for trying.
