• Actor Allusion: Karol gets a Klonoa outfit and (only in the PS3 version) a Keroro outfit, referencing other roles by her voice actress, Kumiko Watanabe.
• Blooper: When playing with English voices enabled, an oversight has Patty speaking Japanese when the battle starts with too many enemies.
• Casting Gag: Patty Fleur's voice actor - Sandy Fox - had previously voiced Mieu. Through one of the many outcomes in her Mystic Arte, Patty can end up summoning Mieu himself.
• The Danza: Coincidentally, Leblanc shares part of his surname with his English voice actor, JB Blanc.
• Defictionalization: The "overdrive dolls", plush versions of each party member that can be equipped to Repede so that they ride on his back. Yuri's, Flynn's, and Rita's have been released as actual plushies.
• Dueling Works: In the United States, Tales of Vesperia came out not too long after the other 360-exclusive JRPG Lost Odyssey.
• Milestone Celebration: The Definitive Edition was made to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.
• No Export for You: Some supplementary material like "The Empty Mask" manga and Drama CD never got official translations, only a scanlation.
• Late Export for You: The Updated Re-release PS3 version was released only in Japan until 2019, as a Definitive Version of the game was released for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC which includes almost all of the additional content from the PS3 version (Karol's Keroro costume was omitted for legal reasons and the Tales of the Abyss costumes with the normal hair colors was a pre-order DLC set only).
• The Other Darrin:
  • The OVA Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike had its voicework outsourced to Funimation. As a result nearly every character had been recast (since Funi often uses a lot of Texas-based VAs, even though they have occasionally hired out-of state talent a few time.). The only exceptions are Troy Baker as Yuri Lowell and Sam Riegel as Flynn Scifo, who Funimation went out of their way to get back due to their popularity in the roles.
  • In Definitive Edition, Troy Baker was replaced by Grant George for Yuri's voiced dialog that wasn't present in the 360 version. Troy later explained that he wasn’t asked to reprise his role.
  • In the Definitive Edition, Don Whitehorse's new dialogue is voiced by Jamieson Price instead of David Lodge. This is seemingly because David Lodge has moved towards primarily union projects since the game originally came out, which the game did not use.
• Remade for the Export: The Definitive version which not only added almost all extra content from the PS3 version which never got an international release but included new arts and new costumes as well.
• Shipper on Set:
  • Kosuke Toriumi, the original Japanese voice of Yuri Lowell, insists that Yuri/Flynn and Rita/Estelle are the canon pairings. During an event for the Tales series where the voice actors Tales of... heroes were meant to shout the names of their respective heroines, Toriumi went off script and had Yuri shout "Flynn! I love you!" instead of Estelle.
  • Bonnie Pink, who did the opening theme of the game, ships Yuri/Flynn and she has stated she wrote the Japanese lyrics to "Ring A Bell" to be about Estelle being a third wheel to Yuri and Flynn.
• Shrug of God: Why the PS3 never got localized is often subjected to this, especially depending on who you asked. Sometimes the creators would say they couldn't get the voice cast to return (which is odd given that the voice actors seemed to be on board for doing so), other times they would say it was because the game didn't sell well enough to justify doing so. The most common one was that the Microsoft had a exclusivity deal preventing them from releasing it from the west. Regardless of why, it took several years for the PS3 content to arrive overseas.
• Star-Making Role:
  • In a step-by-step sense - this was the first game that put Troy Baker on the map of A-list voice actors. It was the role that directly led to him getting cast as Kanji from Persona 4, and from there it was all straight uphill quicklike for him.
  • Even though it wasn't until recently when it was discovered she voiced the role, Estelle did the same for Eden Riegel who, following this game, went on to voice more roles in J-Games and even some anime. Though it wasn't until (once again) Persona 4 Golden when Eden got her name out there.
  • Alongside Wesker, Alexei helped put D.C. Douglas on the map.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The three letter player-character identifier PAT appears in a few places on the Xbox 360 disc, so she was probably cut fairly early into production.
  • English voice clips for the PS3 version Mystic Artes do exist indicating the possibility that the PS3 version was going to receive an international release. With the announcement of the Definitive Edition that will contain the PS3 content, it's likely that there was additional voice recording that took place, then was shelved (which is similar to the case of Final Fantasy Type-0).
  • Troy Baker has stated that he would have loved to reprise his role as Yuri for the Definitive Edition, but he wasn’t approached by anyone to record the additional dialogue.
  • According to Week 168 of Dropped Frames, Matthew Mercer, who filled in for several Troy Baker roles in the past, was considered to voice Yuri in Definitive Edition, but he decided against it, saying he didn’t want to be known as “the Troy Baker replacement”.
