In one of Wei Wuxian's attempts to smuggle wine into the Cloud Recesses at night, he becomes unlucky enough to encounter his greatest fear — a dog.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: If you read the scrolling text fast enough, you'll be able to tell just exactly what Wei Wuxian is thinking when he's hiding in the tree from the dog and Lan Wangji.
- Imagine Spot: When Wei Wuxian sees Lan Wangji, he dreads getting caught by the latter and pictures himself receiving some strikes on the wrist and being forced to prostrate before getting kicked out.
- Missed Him by That Much: While Wei Wuxian comments about how Lan Wangji never saw him and happily skips away, the latter is revealed to be actually hiding behind a tree and watches him leave.
- Mythology Gag: The episode references a novel trivia from author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu where Wei Wuxian encountered Jin Zixuan's dog at the Cloud Recesses and was unknowingly saved from it by Lan Wangji.
- Pet the Dog: Downplayed with Lan Wangji, who is more of a Principles Zealot than an actual jerk. He punishes Wei Wuxian for drinking alcohol, but not for breaking curfew nor making noise; in fact, he never mentions nor even hints that he spotted the latter running away from a dog the previous night, to spare him the embarrassment. In short, while Lan Wangji still punishes Wei Wuxian, he lets him off easy by the Lan Clan's standards.
- Sneeze Cut: When Wei Wuxian mentally curses Jin Zixuan for bringing a dog to the Cloud Recesses, the Jin teen in question is then shown sneezing in his room.
- Toilet Humour: Befitting of a gag series, Wei Wuxian first sees Jin Zixuan's dog when it's urinating on a tree.
