While Blitzo crashes Moxxie and Millie's anniversary at Ozzie's, things sure do happen — namely, Vortex invites Loona to a party in the Gluttony Ring, where she meets his girlfriend; none other than the Queen of Gluttony, Beelzebub.

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Affably Evil: Fittingly as the hellish embodiment of gluttony and self-indulgence, Bee is easy-going, charming, and fun to be around. Even as she encourages everyone to enjoy themselves in excess to draw power, she has the friendly demeanor of wanting to make sure everyone has a good time. Indeed, the only conflict arises when she notes that Blitzo is not just having a good time and is trying to convince Loona to check in on him.
  • Alpha Bitch: Vikki, the hellhound that knows Loona from a previous party, is shown to be snooty and still has a picture of Loona vomiting at the last party they were both at because it makes her happy.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Loona has some pretty mixed reactions to Bee, spending most of the episode either in awe of her or jealous. The first thing out of her mouth when Tex introduces the two is to blurt out that Bee is hot. After finding out Bee is Tex's girlfriend Loona rolls her eyes in an "of course" gesture where it could mean either, of course you have a boyfriend, or of course you are Tex's girlfriend. The fact she leaves in tears after this meeting also has some ambiguous context; was she upset that there was no way she could compete with Bee for Tex or was she upset that the only other person at the party she was interested in was also taken?
  • At Least I Admit It: Bee says she has trouble raiding Belphegor's stash of "party drugs" because she is seen as a 'total jackass'. She is at least proud enough to admit it.
  • Bathos: The end of the episode features this. After Loona tells Blitzo that she'll be there for him, even calling him "Dad" as she does, Blitzo has a Vomit Indiscretion Shot where he pukes all over the floor. It's also a Brick Joke, since Loona figured Blitzo needed to throw up, but he insisted he was fine. After he barfs, Blitzo remarks that Loona was right. Cut to credits.
  • Big Eater: Part of Bee’s shtick being the Queen of Gluttony is to dramatically enlarge food being eaten by her party guests. She grows someone’s taco to be as big as their head.
  • Bitch Alert: Vikki the hellhound gives off the vibe of an Alpha Bitch from the second she appears, acting condescending towards Loona and showing Loona a photo she took of Loona vomiting at a previous party they went to.
  • Bittersweet Ending: After some initial awkwardness and hesitation, Loona is able to enjoy herself at Bee's party and make some new hellhound friends. Unfortunately, she has to leave early and drive Blitzo home after he starts getting blind drunk and making out with random people at Bee's party. This comes after Blitzo had a very rough night, from getting humiliated at a club with Stolas, to watching Moxxie and Millie have what he doesn't have, causing him to try to forget his problems through Drowning My Sorrows. At the end of the episode, Loona — after hearing Blitzo's drunken rambling over dying alone — places a blanket on Blitzo and reassures him by telling him "I'll be there, Dad".
  • Breaking Old Trends: The description for the episode lacks the usual "things sure do happen." line and the joke content warning as well, instead being replaced with an retrospective on the episode's release and Vivienne Thanking the Viewer for watching.
  • Breather Episode: This episode is mostly just a way for Kesha to show off her voice acting and songwriting talents and be a flashy end to season one and comes directly after "OZZIE'S", which has Blitzo and Stolas' relationship hit a major roadblock while both get their pasts thrown back at them and is followed by "The Circus", which shows both Stolas' and Blitzo's utterly horrible childhoods.
  • The Bus Came Back: After being referenced in the previous episode, Tex makes his first reappearance since "Spring Broken."
  • Call-Back: Blitzo and Bee briefly take on a Drinking Contest from the latter's personal drink supply. This is likely the same 'Beelzejuice' Blitzo's succubus ex-girlfriend Verosika keeps in her flask back in "Spring Broken", as Loona calls it by that name here like Blitzo did.
  • Company Cross References:
    • The two female hellhounds accompanying the Alpha Bitch hound bear a striking resemblance to Vaggie and Velvette.
    • In a sort of artist cross-reference, Bee's song Cotton Candy, and the accompanying visuals, are clearly modeled after one of Vivziepop's earliest animations, an animation of the Kesha song Die Young.
  • Cone of Shame: One of the hellhounds at the party wears an Elizabethan collar filled with booze.
  • Content Warning: Subverted for once, as this is the first episode to not have any sexnote  or violencenote . As such, it immediately starts off without one appearing. Even the description lacks a joke content warning this time around.
  • Continuity Nod: The imp Striker kicked in "The Harvest Moon Festival" reappears in the crowd during Bee's song, her arm in a sling.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: While not particularly villainous, Bee does play an antagonistic role in this episode. Like Asmodeus in the previous episode, she's a monarch of Hell in a relationship with a lesser demon and who's hosting a large sin-filled gathering. But unlike Asmodeus, Bee and Tex seem to be in a healthy relationship, she doesn't insult or denigrate her guests, and seems to be genuinely friendly towards Loona. Bee only kicks Blitzo out when he starts drinking excessively and bothering other party guests, albeit out of just as much concern for him as her guests.
  • Creator Cameo:
    • The imp who was kicked by Striker back in "The Harvest Moon Festival" and confirmed to be the impsona of one of the show's crew can be seen in a number of scenes with her arm in a sling. A hellhound that can be seen alongside her is also the hellhoundsona of another member of the crew as confirmed in a couple of tweets.
    • In general, a number of the background hellhounds are the hellhoundsonas of various members of the crew.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Non-combat variant, but Blitzo manages to defeat the Lord of Gluttony herself in a drinking contest. Bee remarks that it's the first time she's ever lost, and compliments Blitzo for beating her, fair and square.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: When Bee tries to get Loona to check on an over-enthusiastic Blitzo, Loona goes on the defensive and accuses Bee of vying for attention. Bee then sizes herself up to remind the hellhound that she is not only the host of the party, but the Lord of Gluttony. Loona actually looks like she's is about to throw down but relents after seeing Tex just as concerned about the situation.
  • Didn't See That Coming: During the drinking contest between Blitzo and Bee, instead of drinking the keg through the straw provided, Blitzo rips the keg's top open and drinks the whole thing at once, leaving Bee, Tex, and Vikki to look on in shock.
  • Does Not Like Spam: During Bee's song, Loona can only react in disgust at all of the cotton candy she conjures up, implying that she doesn't enjoy sweets. Though it could also be a lack of comfort in general, being super awkward at the party.
  • Drinking Contest: Blitzo challenges Bee to a drinking contest in which they both drink a full keg of her "special" mead. She's impressed that he's able to finish the whole thing, though is a little worried afterwards.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Aside from the Drinking Contest, the other reason Blitzo drinks himself silly at Bee's party is to drown his sorrows caused by the events of "OZZIE'S".
  • Dying Alone: Discussed. After coming home from Bee's party, a drunken Blitzo confides in Loona that he's afraid this will happen to him.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: The Alpha Bitch Loona deals with reveals she has a picture on her phone of Loona vomiting at a previous party.
  • Emotion Eater: Apparently Bee can get high from the energy of others indulging in acts of Gluttony. This is why she keeps encouraging her party guests to indulge in food and drink.
  • Everybody Has Standards: Bee is all for overconsumption and having a good time; she is the Lord of Gluttony, after all. But Blitzo's drunken quasi-orgy pushes things too far in her eyes. Bee kindly asks Loona to check if things are okay with him for his own sake, and for the other guests. As she is able to tell people's "vibe" based on their "flavor", Bee seems rightfully worried after he just out-drank her from her personal concoction.
  • Exact Words: When Loona persuades Blitzo to join her at the party, Blitzo insists on only having one drink. Smash Cut to Blitzo doing a keg-stand and emptying the entire keg.
  • Food-Based Superpowers: As the Lord of Gluttony, Bee has food-based magic. During her song "Cotton Candy", she's shown to have the power to create, enhance, and increase the size of food. Bee goes around enlarging partygoers' food and drink, causes fountains of honey to shoot up from the floor, creates candy and sweets from thin air, and flies across the party with a mane and a tail that appear to be made of pure honey.
  • Funny Background Event: When Loona sees Blitzo making out with some random dude, the imp guy who invited him to join the party and one of the girls who carried him away in victory can be seen off to the side, clearly waiting their turn. When Loona angrily confronts Blitzo, they quickly vamoose.
  • Gender Flip: Not only is Beelzebub revealed to be female, but Bee herself casually mentions that Belphegor is also a girl. Both demons are usually depicted as male in mythology.
  • Good All Along: Bee is introduced similarly to other recurring antagonists like Fizz, Asmodeus and Striker with her own song and seemingly being stuck-up and overly hedonistic. However, Bee eventually proves she is actually a genuinely good person who kindly welcomes Loona to the party, and later only asks her to take Blitzo home for his own sake and because he’s disrupting the party.
  • Gilligan Cut: After Loona convinces Blitzo to stay at Bee's party after all, Blitzo says it will be for "maybe one drink." Cut to Blitzo doing a keg stand with other partygoers holding him up, drinking straight from the keg with a long straw.
  • Graceful Loser: When Blitzo immediately wins the drinking contest, Bee is shocked and graciously salutes him, and leads the partygoers in cheering for him out of respect.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Looks like, before overdoing alcohol at the party, Blitzo already drowned his sorrows in ice cream if the empty bucket beside him when Loona texted him can attest.
  • Hellhound: Most of the guests at Bee's party are hellhounds, implying that her house is a hangout spot for them.
  • "I Am" Song: Bee's song, "Cotton Candy", where she hypes herself up as the literal top dog in Gluttony, telling her guests she's there to have a good time and look great while doing it, while happily inviting them to party it up with her. It also doubles as a Villain Song; while she's A Lighter Shade of Black compared to Asmodeus and most other demon royalty, she's still one of the Seven Deadly Sins, encouraging her guests to indulge in their favorite vices. As Bee herself puts it, "I'm what you want, not what you need."
  • Immediate Sequel: While the earliest parts of the episode are implied to take place at the same time as the end of "OZZIE'S", the rest takes place immediately afterward.
  • Irony: Loona calls Blitzo because she's too socially awkward to enjoy the party. By the end, it turns out that he needed her more than she needed him, taking him home and comforting him after he tries burying his depression in sex (or as close enough to sex) and alcohol.
  • Law of Disproportionate Response: Blitzo is found passionately kissing another demon after the Drinking Contest. But when Blitzo hears that the demon's name is Dennis, Blitzo immediately tells Dennis to leave him alone, adding that "Christ on a stick, you would be a Dennis" beforehand.
  • Lighter and Softer: This is the first episode to not have any degree of sexnote  or violencenote . As such, the episode doesn't start with a Content Warning.
  • Like Brother and Sister: To ease the awkwardness with her latest guest, Bee talks to Loona about how she once saw Satan without a shirt and found him attractive. She confesses that she is hesitant to flirt with him because of this trope, but tempted enough to try because they aren't actually related.
  • Miracle Food: Bee conjures food and drink out of thin air and enlarges existing comestibles to cartoonish sizes during her song and throughout the episode, including turning a punch bowl into a booze-filled swimming pool.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Bee appears to be a cross between a hellhound and a bee demon. She has four arms, insect wings on her back, and her eyelashes invoke a bee's antennae.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Loona's outfit for the party, especially the very first scene of the episode that is simply a prolonged shot of her in a fanservicey pose.
  • No Social Skills: Loona's lack of social skills is on full display. She spends most of the episode willing to bite other people's heads off at the smallest comments, even from people who are not being actively negative towards her. It takes the continued kindness of Bee and Tex, and getting more comfortable with the rest of the party, for her to finally mellow out, but even then, her Hair-Trigger Temper causes her some problems.
  • N-Word Privileges: Played With. After Loona calls one of the mean girls at the party a "bitch", the whole room goes silent and she nervously asks if that's not okay to say. But then Bee introduces herself by shouting "How're my dirty bitches doing tonight!" and continues using it throughout the episode with no one batting an eye.
  • Obviously Not Fine: Bee claims to have an ability to gauge people's attitude and behavior just by "tasting their flavor", almost like a real insect. Despite Loona insisting that Blitzo is being his usual drunk self, Bee tells her that he is more likely causing trouble on purpose. Loona eventually sees how true that is and takes him home.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Subverted. After Loona takes Blitzo home, he drunkenly admits to why he went overboard at the party; what Fizz told him in the previous episode really got to him and he wonders out loud if he's going to die alone, and if Loona will be there for him. Loona responds with "I'll be there, Dad", and puts a blanket over him. Loona calling Blitzo "Dad" is a rare occurrence, as she caught herself in "Spring Broken" before saying it and she insisted that she's only his adopted daughter in this episode. However, in spite of all that, Blitzo is far too drunk and depressed to pick up on it.
  • Papa Wolf: The first part of the party takes place at the tail end of Blitzo's bad night in "OZZIE'S". When Loona calls Blitzo to come pick her up from the party, Blitzo immediately wakes up, jumps in the IMPmobile, and races to get her.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: Bee is presented as a good-natured life of the party with her song "Cotton Candy". Since Bee is a central focus of the episode, the Lord of Gluttony, and Tex's girlfriend (and thus Loona's romantic rival), the expectation is that the other shoe will drop and Bee will become an antagonist. She never does; this friendly party-host personality is what she's actually like. The only time Bee actually gets mad is when Loona accuses Bee of vying for attention when she asks Loona to take Blitzo home after the drinking contest, and that's only because he was ruining everyone else's good time. She even apologizes for the outburst after calming down.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The hellhound girls describing the situation Vikki had with her associate who expected her to get something without throwing it first as not being "fetch" in a very stereotypical mean girl fashion is an obvious reference to the catchphrase Gretchen Wieners from Mean Girls kept trying to make popular.
    • One of the hellhounds who has a shirt that says "no respect" resembles Rover Dangerfield.
    • When Bee does a dramatic Hair Flip during her song, it resembles Ariel's iconic surfacing shot from The Little Mermaid (1989).
    • Bee does the "Imagination Rainbow" before commenting how she overdid so much with the confetti she might as well have a ton of it in her vagina.
  • Sigil Spam: Beelzebub's house invokes the image of a beehive. As such, hexagons/honeycombs are everywhere in the place.
  • Simultaneous Arcs: The earliest portions of the episode take place alongside the tail end of "OZZIE'S". By the time we see Blitzo, he's fallen asleep after curling up on the couch, eating ice cream following his awful night.
  • Sizeshifter: After a brief argument after the drinking contest, Bee turns into a giant like the other lords of Hell to make her point that Loona needs to take care of Blitzo. Bee grows to several times Loona's size, to the point that Bee's head is bigger than Loona's entire body.
  • Special Guest: American pop singer Kesha provides Beelzebub's speaking voice. She also was one of the writers for the "Cotton Candy" song.
  • Stealth Pun: The Alpha Bitch Hellhound shares an anecdote that goes "So I told him, 'I'm not gonna go get it unless you fuckin' throw it this time!'", to which one of her companions says "That is so not fetch!". Yes, not throwing something so a dog can go get it is, quite literally, not fetch.
  • Stupid Sexy Flanders: When Tex introduces Bee as his girlfriend, the gears are visibly turning inside Loona's head as she quickly calculates just how utterly out-classed she is. Loona even ends up blurting out "She's hot!" before she can catch herself.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: During the "Cotton Candy" song sequence, it's implied that some of the food Bee conjures has some sort of drug-like effects on the people eating them, various hellhounds' pupils dilating and mouths frothing when eating her cotton candy or swimming in the giant bowl of punch.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: At the beginning, after texting Tex that she'd arrived at Bee's manor, Loona slips her phone between her breasts. And while you'd think she has no cleavage to stick it into, bear in mind that she's a hellhound, and so any cleavage would disappear behind her fur.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot:
    • The Alpha Bitch Loona talks to at the beginning of the party has a photo of Loona vomiting at a previous party where she embarrassed herself.
    • At the end of the episode, Blitzo projectile vomits all over the floor. He even adds a Brick Joke that Loona was right; he did need to puke.

Queen "Bee" Beelzebub

She is known for throwing orgies in her mansion and even competes with Blitzo in drinking. She also abuses drugs and even steals them from Belphegor. She concedes defeat to Blitzo when he manages to out-drink her, saluting him and leading the other party guests to cheer for him.

How well does it match the trope?
