The second episode. Joe dogfights a relentless "Cyborg X" in plane to plane combat. 009 is about to head home, when 003 spots something in the ocean. The pilot announces himself as "Cyborg X", bursts into Gilmore's laboratory, leaves a television screen with a message, and then retreats, but not before fixing some roses that he knocked, leaving 003 to wonder about his Backstory which gets more interesting when he sees his girlfriend, and reveals to her his "modifications".

- Anti-Villain: From the get-go, X appears to be one when he fixes 003's roses.
- Blinded by the Light: The object that rises from the ocean is a sphere of light that is eventually revealed to be a plane.
- Car Fu: Inverted, the car isn't used to attack, but to retreat.

- Damsel in Distress: 003 is kidnapped, while Michi is emotionally traumatized.
- Double Entendre: 007's comment when he hears that 009 is taking breakfast to Michi: "Damn, he works fast."

- Hoist by His Own Petard: Omega dies when X decides to blow the bomb up at his base instead.
- It Only Works Once: The Weapon 009 has on his plane works only once per flight.
- Just a Machine: Omega believes X is this.

- Now It's My Turn: 009 when he gets behind X in their dogfight.

- Together in Death: X sacrifices himself to blow up the bomb, after taking Michi's body off with him. In the end, it is stated that in Heaven, there are no humans or cyborgs but just pure souls. 009 and 003 toss a bouquet of flowers at the explosion site, in memory of the two.
