    General
  • Just about any interaction between Lelouch and Nunnally. As in canon, his brotherly love for her can't be called into question.
  • Any interaction between Suzaku and Euphemia as well, like in canon. Made even sweeter is the fact that the author has said that Euphie will live to the end of the story.
  • Nearly any interaction between Lelouch and Optimus. While Optimus fulfills the Parental Substitute role for many characters, his relationship with Lelouch in particular shows him offering both guidance to the young, inexperienced general and someone to confide to during his most conflicting moments. Lelouch in turn views Optimus as the positive father figure he had yearned for and as a result of the kindness and respect he was treated by the Autobots he actually begins to develop a true sense of companionship with his Black Knights and steer away from the more dubious decisions and actions he would normally undertake, gradually becoming a legitimately nobler and heroic individual.
    • Optimus' interactions and relationships with Rai, Euphemia, and Nunnally count as well. Overall, Optimus gives the imperial siblings a chance to experience an actual warm father figure.
    • Lelouch begins to actively model his ethos and rhetoric after Optimus, which first becomes apparent in R2 when he counsels Akito about opening up more with others and becoming something of a mentor himself for Leila.
  • Lelouch isn't the only one who bonds with Cybertronians over the story:
    • Kallen gets two partners in Arcee and Cliffjumper who have her back and she has theirs, to the point where she considers them older siblings.
    • Rai hits it off with Bulkhead who introduces him to Wheeljack, leading to him becoming an official Wrecker.
    • Even on the enemy's side, Suzaku and Dreadwing form a strong partnership, with the Decepticon consistently treating the young guilt-ridden boy with respect. This later extends to Euphemia as well, with both her and Suzaku considering Dreadwing the only Decepticon they like and fully trust.
  • Despite being robotic soldiers from another planet, the Autobots are a Positive Friend Influence on the Black Knights. Showing that even when a worse war came to their world, a team of heroes showed humanity not just hope, but a better way forward.

    R1: Rebellion
Chapter 3
  • Bumblebee breaks off his fight with the Lancelot to rescue a woman and her child.

Chapter 4

  • After Lelouch explains his backstory to the Autobots, how he and Nunnally were exiled by their father after the death of their mother, and Charles basically told Lelouch that he has always been dead to him, all of the Autobots are horrified to hear this and completely sympathize for Lelouch, with Bulkhead, Ironhide, and Arcee even willing to Groundbridge directly to the palace and blow it all up for what happened. Lelouch is completely shocked that the Autobots are so sympathetic to him that they would be willing to storm the palace for him. This is just the beginning of their partnership and the friendship he has with them.

Chapter 8

  • When Ohgi explains his reasons for fighting Britannia despite his fear, it was Optimus that encourages him that continuing Naoto's fight was a sign of his bravery. This was only just the start of Ohgi's Undying Loyalty to the Autobot leader.

Chapter 10

  • One of the first signs that being around the Autobots, notably Optimus, is changing Lelouch. After taking care of the Refrain trading deals, Lelouch intervenes with the circumstances surrounding Kallen and her mother after learning about her home life from Cliffjumper. Using his Geass, he arranges for Kallen and her mother to live in an apartment for free away from Kallen's stepmother. Kallen thanked him with a hug from behind, solidifying her loyalty to him.

Chapter 11

  • Another sign of the Autobots being a positive influence on Lelouch, where he offers himself up as bait for the Scraplets instead of Bulkhead to save the Autobots from being eaten. This action earns him the trust of the rest of the Black Knights, as well as Ratchet, Arcee, and Ironhide, who were the Autobots that didn't trust him that much up to that point.

Chapter 12

  • Kallen and Arcee bonding after their horrifying encounter with Airachnid. They've both suffered loss, but they also will do anything to protect the ones they care about; including each other. The fembot goes on to call the redhead her (junior) partner while requesting a Groundbridge.

Chapter 13

  • This chapter has the birth of a new friendship: Knock Out and Lloyd. Both find common ground in liking the finer details of technology, especially in the Lancelot, and later work together to provide what upgrades and modifications come to mind. Especially when four of the Knights of the Round arrive in Chapter 21.

Chapter 16

  • After rescuing C.C. from Narita, and hearing her true name, Lelouch and Rai comfort and thank her for all that she's done so far for them. Cera even tearfully says that nobody had ever thanked her before then like that.
  • Lelouch commits to slowly expanding his circle of trust by allowing Kallen to know his true identity.

Chapter 17

  • Lelouch reunites with Kaguya Sumeragi, thanking her and Lord Taizo for taking them in, and assuring them that all they want is their help rather than any demands. He also reveals his face to both Ohgi and Tamaki.

Chapter 18

  • Kallen is conflicted about her reasons for fighting since hearing of the (apparent) death of Shirley's father. Arcee and Cliffjumper console her and encourage her to keep fighting for what's right to make sure at least the deaths of innocents are not in vain. Kallen gratefully promises that she will follow the two Autobots to the very end. Cliffjumper corrects her.
Cliffjumper: I think you mean, ride with us to the very end. We're your partners, not your superiors.
  • While he doesn't go into the full details, Lelouch tells Shirley about his mother's death, telling her that he knows the pain of losing a parent they love dearly and offers to be someone to comfort her. Shirley's reaction is to cry in Lelouch's chest and accept his comfort, hurt but also relieved that she can share her grief with someone who understands her pain.
  • Bulkhead and Wheeljack also offer comfort to Rai as well when he feels guilty over causing the avalanche that caused Shirley's father's death and angry over Suzaku calling the Autobots and Black Knights cowards. The two Wreckers assure him that they're not cowards and that they'll protect everyone they can, even if they can't save some people. This strengthens Rai's resolve to not fail in protecting Shirley.

Chapter 19

  • It's revealed that Lelouch has come to view Optimus as a father-figure. We know Lelouch and we know what will be the end road for him. However in this iteration, thanks to OP, he starts to open up more, bonding with his teammates and even finding better options to save everyone. Hopefully, he'll get his happy ending.
  • After Lelouch and Rai reveal the truth to Shirley, despite all that has happened, she still forgives them. Furthermore, not only does Lelouch not erase her memories, he even lets her meet the Autobots. After all the crap she underwent in canon, it's surprisingly sweet.
  • Kallen and Nunnally bonding together, with Kallen revealing that she knows of Lelouch and Nunnally's past, and assuring Nunnally that she will always be there for her and Lelouch, whenever they need her.

Chapter 20

  • After slowly understanding Lelouch's and Kallen's reasons for fighting, the realization of countless people in Japan losing their livelihood to Britannia, and the Decepticons' involvement making things worse, Shirley finally makes her heartfelt decision after refusing to sit by any longer.
Shirley: Kallen, I want to join the Black Knights.
  • Optimus shows Lelouch that he really does trust the ex-Britannian prince after he allowed C.C. to go to Mao, as he was confident that Lelouch wouldn't simply allow her to give herself up and had faith that he would strategize a means to save her. After C.C. is rescued, Lelouch and the Autobots reaffirmed to her that she had real companions and that they truly cared for her happiness.

Chapter 21

  • Shirley hugging both Kallen and Rai, happy to be a part of the Black Knights and helping her friends. Kallen and Rai return the hug while Lelouch looks on with a smile, happy as well that Shirley's with them.

Chapter 22

  • It's bittersweet, but Cliffjumper and Gino's banter throughout their fight. They give friendly taunts and genuine compliments. These two would probably be best friends if they weren't on opposite sides of a war.
  • Lelouch seizes the brief chance of Cornelia being captured to order her via Geass to answer all of his questions truthfully. After learning many of the Britannians' battle strategies and more about the death of his mother, he then remembers Optimus recently saying that even Decepticons can change for the better and asks his older sister what she would do for him and Nunnally. Still, under the Geass' effects, Cornelia immediately says that she would stand against Britannia, against their father, for her younger siblings. Lelouch is definitely touched.
  • Much later, Lelouch and Optimus discuss everything the former learned from his captive, and Lelouch breaks down and confesses he truly wishes to have Cornelia as an ally. He even asks Optimus if there is an actual chance; the Autobot leader immediately says yes and promises they will both have his full support if she decides to join them.
  • Lelouch then thanks Optimus from the bottom of his heart for everything he and the Autobots have done to make him a better, and happier, person. Optimus, in turn, praises his growth in maturity and finishes with this:
Optimus: Lelouch vi Britannia, I am honored to be your mentor, your ally, as well as your friend.

Chapter 23

  • On a minor note, Lelouch still wants to come clean with Nunnally about his secret actions. Part of the reason is that he wants to introduce her to Optimus.
  • Despite being understandably afraid of Mao's return considering what he did to her when they first met, Shirley is still willing to help Lelouch, Rai, and Suzaku with rescuing Nunnally from him, refusing to let what happened to her happen to Nunnally as well.
  • The simple fact that Lelouch beats Mao because he is willing to place absolute trust in his friends to complete his plan. Lelouch literally erased his own memories via Rai's Geass so that Mao couldn't learn his plan, meaning the only thing he had to go on was his friends' word. And it paid off.
    • This also ends up highlighting a fundamental difference between Megatron and Lelouch - he trusts his allies. While Megatron had very little faith in Mao and ultimately left him to Shockwave's nonexistent mercy when he failed, Lelouch put all of his trust in his friends and had it rewarded.
  • After Mao reveals that Suzaku killed his own father, causing the latter to have a Freak Out moment, Lelouch and Rai help him back home. Even if he is on the other side of the conflict, he's still their friend.
  • C.C. feels pity for Mao when she senses the peril he is in. For all his actions and the fact he thoroughly deserves whatever Shockwave will put him through, she did care for him as a surrogate son. And then she renounces her ties with Marianne telepathically because she has the utmost faith that Lelouch and the Autobots can and will stop Ragnarok. It's refreshing to see how much she's grown to show her human side and trust in others.
  • When Cornelia reveals that she's always been envious of Nonette, seeing her senior as a better warrior than herself, Nonette is quick to tell Cornelia that she's capable of much more than she thinks of herself. She also tells Cornelia that she considers her as a rival and a friend, and apologizes for not being able to help Cornelia when she was abandoned by Airachnid and captured by the Autobots. Cornelia is surprised and relieved at Nonette's confession, and Euphie pulls the two of them together in a Group Hug, which they both return. Nonette then assures the two sisters that she'll be there for them if anything happens.

Chapter 24

Chapter 25

  • The beginning of the chapter is just a big bonding moment between Kallen, Nunnally, and Lelouch. Kallen admits about her and her mother missing Naoto and Lelouch is still planning to introduce Nunnally to the Autobots, after she's recovered from the trauma of her kidnapping at Mao's hands. Nunnally still trusts her brother about that.

Chapter 26

  • It turns out Ironhide and Chromia are an item in this story, as he reminisces fondly about her in a conversation with Ohgi. Too bad they haven't seen each other since Cybertron went dark.
  • Lelouch and Rai can't tell Nunnally the full story about their friends or the... company Suzaku has fallen in with, but they promise her that they'll watch out for their friend. Nunnally in turn trusts them completely.
  • Monica sincerely expresses her condolences to Shirley about her father's (supposed) death. Another reminder that not all Britannians are egotistical Social Darwinists.
  • Tohdoh being informed that Katase is not dead by Zero.
  • The Four Holy Swords become fast friends with the Autobots and Black Knights. Then when he is rescued and presented with his new Knightmare by the Autobot leader, the Miracle Worker says this:
Tohdoh: Optimus Prime, it's an honor to finally meet you face-to-face.
Optimus: The honor is all mine, Kyoshiro Tohdoh.

Chapter 27

  • As a sign of showing trust after the restructuring of command, Lelouch finally reveals his true identity to the collective leaders of the Black Knights, showing how far he has come under Optimus' tutelage. Those that already knew who he was defended him keeping it a secret and his loyalty vigorously (which he's grateful for, of course). After some discussion, everyone present says Lelouch has their support and trust.
    • Word of God also confirms that unlike in canon, the Black Knights will not betray Lelouch as they did under Schneizel's manipulations.
  • C.C. and Nunnally have a nice bonding moment, with C.C. even telling Nunnally her real name. Goes to show how spending time with the Autobots has really changed her.
    • There's also something about the banter between her and Bumblebee afterward. Almost like they were siblings.
  • In the same scene Nunnally reveals that she ships her brother and Kallen, having noticed that they seem to be attracted to each other.
  • A minor one has Monica consoling Rivalz when he learns of Milly's engagement with Lloyd. She even offers to help call it off as a Knight of the Round, realizing that Rivalz has feelings for Milly, as well as Milly not being interested in the marriage and Lloyd not really caring that much either.

Chapter 28

  • Euphemia is a sweet, compassionate princess who's ecstatic at the fact her brother, Lelouch, is alive. She quickly warms up to Optimus Prime as well, who reciprocates.
  • Nonette turns out to be willing to start a Britannian civil war if need to be to avenge Rai, his mother, and his sister.
  • Arcee turns out to have been sick with worry while the others were missing.
  • During Kallen's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Suzaku and Dreadwing, she mentions her dead brother Naoto. Dreadwing mentions his own deceased twin Skyquake, realizing that both he and Kallen fight in honor of their fallen siblings. He even expresses his honest sympathies to Kallen, despite being on opposite sides of the war. He also makes it clear that he will never mock someone who has lost a sibling.

Chapter 29

  • After Lelouch finally reveals the truth to Nunnally, he also introduces her to Bumblebee. He even lent her his earpiece so she could understand the scout better!
  • There's also the part where Lelouch promises Nunnally that he won't die and he won't leave her and that he'll make the world a better place for them both to live in with everybody else after Nunnally expresses that she can't imagine the world without her big brother, which was what she said when Lelouch died in the Code Geass finale. Here, with Lelouch becoming a better person thanks to the Autobots, Optimus Prime in particular, perhaps the siblings will be able to live together in that better world in the end. Only time will tell...
  • Rai immediately tells the others everything about his past life, breaking down as he blames himself for the death of his family. Shirley, Bulkhead, Fixit, Lelouch, and Optimus each take turns reminding him of all the good things he's done and the fact he has another family with them.
  • After an argument between Cornelia and Euphemia leads to Cornelia slapping Euphie, an action that she immediately regrets, Guilford comforts her, assuring her that she's not a bad person despite her past actions, as well as expressing his distrust of the Emperor and the Decepticons. He then tells her that he would side with her without a moment's hesitation if given a choice, which Cornelia appreciates.

Chapter 30

  • Continuing from the previous chapter, Rai gets pep-talks from both his half-sister, Nunnally, and his fellow Wrecker, Wheeljack.
  • Both Euphemia and Dreadwing are deeply worried about Suzaku, to the point where the former practically begs the latter to watch out for him. Dreadwing agrees without protest or hesitation.
  • Lelouch also comes clean about everything between him and Clovis with his sister after she calls him on a secret line. After assurance he's not alone thanks to the Autobots and the Black Knights, the siblings end the call with a mutual "I love you."
  • When both Dreadwing and Suzaku are surrounded by the Chinese Federation forces and are moments away from being killed, Dreadwing tells Suzaku that it was an honor to fight by his side and know him as an individual, even calling him his brother. Luckily they are both saved by the arrival of the Black Knights and Autobots, with Dreadwing noting that he and Optimus teaming up has become something of a habit lately.
  • Euphemia finally explains to Suzaku and Dreadwing what Optimus explained to her on the island, that Megatron lied to them and that he was the one responsible for destroying Cybertron. She ends up asking them both to help her in her goal of not just stopping the Decepticons, but stopping all the war and bloodshed Britannia has caused for so long and bringing peace to the world. Not only does Suzaku support Euphemia, Dreadwing kneels to her and pledges himself to her goal and protect her. This really shows how far the friendship between the three of them has come, with Dreadwing even willing to turn on Megatron and work with the Autobots and Black Knights if necessary.

Chapter 31

  • Euphemia and Nunnally finally meet again at the festival.
  • Chapter 31 also reveals that Milly had known Lelouch's identity as Zero for some time now, and had been keeping quiet about it for Lelouch and Nunnally's safety. She assures Lelouch that he's not a bad person, knowing that Shirley's father (supposedly) dying was an accident, and she'll be his friend no matter what.
  • Upon meeting Rai again, this time knowing that he is her half-brother, as well as his past, Euphie offers her condolences to him and even offers to be a sister for him. Rai is touched by Euphie's kindness and is surprised when she pulls him into a hug.
  • Lelouch introducing Nunnally to Arcee and Cliffjumper (even though the two were in vehicle mode along with Bumblebee for covert purposes).

Chapter 32

  • Milly says her goodbyes to Lelouch, Nunnally, and Sayoko before they leave Ashford Academy, with the siblings thanking Milly for everything she and her grandfather had done for them. In return, Milly asked Bumblebee to look after the two siblings, despite not having a translator.
  • Lelouch finally gets to introduce Nunnally to Optimus once he gets her to the Ark. Lelouch is excited deep down over seeing them finally meet and immediately hit it off, due to both of them being kind, compassionate people deep down.
    • There's also Nunnally feeling Optimus's presence near her: One of hope, comfort, and awe that she had never known before.
  • Before it all goes to hell with Airachnid kidnapping Euphemia, the moment between Euphemia, Dreadwing, and Suzaku is this with Euphie thanking Suzaku and Dreadwing for supporting her, and even kissing Suzaku on the cheek. Dreadwing even calls Euphemia by her nickname, showing how much he's grown to care for her.
    • Likewise, after being kissed by Euphie, Suzaku sees Dreadwing have a smirk on his face, which he returns before exchanging words playfully.
  • After being told about her past and the Cybertronian war by Ohgi, Villetta/Chigsua, who's still suffering from amnesia, and grateful to Ohgi for taking care of her, decides to join the Black Knights to make up for her sins, expressing her distaste for the person she was before losing her memories. Ohgi also promises Villetta that he'll help her if she gets her memories back.
Villetta/Chigusa: I don't want to be that person anymore... but if I do become her again, go ahead and do what you have to. Protect your friends, even from me.
Ohgi: Alright. But I won't let you become that person again. Even if you do get your memories back, I'll do what I can to help you.
  • When Lelouch expresses to Optimus, Bumblebee, and Nunnally his concerns that he may end up like Megatron after realizing how alike he and Megatron are in some ways (overthrow the old regime by force), the three are quick to point out that Lelouch is much different from Megatron, as he cares greatly for his friends and family, acknowledges his mistakes, and has grown to be a better person.
  • Arcee and Cliffjumper personally save Kallen's mother during the SAZ Massacre, making sure that she gets through a Groundbridge safely with a child. When Kallen's mother expresses concern for her daughter, Arcee assures her that Kallen is safe.
  • Dreadwing and Suzaku have a Heel–Face Turn!
  • Lelouch tells Suzaku that he doesn't want to have him as an enemy any longer, and he doesn't want to see him die. The former prince makes it clear to his best friend that he will never give up on him, begging him to let him help. What solidifies Suzaku's decision to join the Black Knights is Nunnally comforting him.
Nunnally: Do you remember what I said seven years ago, Suzaku? How a warm touch is good for tears?
    Suzaku: But...I'm not crying...
Nunnally: I know...you've done many bad things Suzaku, but you are not a bad person. Megatron is the real monster, he tried to make you into something you're not. He twisted your heart, mind, and soul so much that it makes me cry just thinking what he tried to do to you. But, I know you can be something better. Big Brother wants to help you, Optimus wants to help you, Shirley wants to help you, I want to help you. Let us help you...let us help put your wings back together so you can be the angel you were before.

Chapter 33

  • Suzaku's farewell message to Cecile and Lloyd at the beginning, thanking them for giving him a chance and warning them to be careful of the Decepticons.
  • Cornelia taking on Megatron for the sake of her siblings. Yes, she had no chance against the Champion of Kaon, even if she wasn't attacking in a blind rage, but she was willing to throw down with him to get revenge for what he did to Euphie, as well as the fact that the Decepticons could have killed Lelouch/Zero at any time, leaving Nunnally devastated. If there was any doubt about Cornelia's dedication and love for her siblings, it went away with this moment.
  • Suzaku owing up and confesses his sins and mistakes to Todoh and Ironhide. Both soldiers tell Suzaku that despite everything he had done, he is still capable of changing and doing good in the world.
    • On top of that, Todoh and Ironhide assuring Suzaku that they will save Euphie once they get the chance to do so. Ironhide even notices that Suzaku and Euphie's relationship may be like his with Chromia.
  • Nunnally comforting Dreadwing and offering her condolences to him when the truth of Skyquake's death is revealed.
  • Optimus assuring Lelouch that he will not leave his side no matter what.
  • Ohgi and Chigusa's farewell kiss before the Battle of Tokyo.
  • Kallen finally comes clean with her mother, telling her that she's a Black Knight, as well as the truth about Lelouch and Nunnally. While Mrs. Kozuki is understandably worried for her daughter after losing Naoto, she expresses pride in her daughter for taking a stand against Britannia. Kallen even properly introduces her mother to Arcee and Cliffjumper.
Cliffjumper: Nice to meet ya. You raised one hell of a kid.
  • Shirley gets several moments as well in this chapter. Like Todoh and Ironhide, she assures Suzaku that he can still do good in the world and make up for his mistakes, and expressing her happiness for finally having him in their ranks. The second moment is when she confesses her feelings to Lelouch. While Lelouch tells her gently that he doesn't have feelings for her like she does for him, he still considers her a close friend. Likewise, Shirley assures Lelouch that she'll stand by him as a friend, even telling him to make sure that if he ever gets a girlfriend, to make her the happiest girl in the world. Lelouch even expresses his hope that Shirley will find someone as well.
  • Suzaku and Lelouch's phone call before the Battle of Tokyo begins, with Suzaku assuring his old friend that he'll now stand by him 100 percent.

Chapter 34

  • Suzaku briefly loses his cool when an asshole soldier badmouths Euphemia, going on a wild rampage. It's Ironhide, one of his biggest skeptics, that talks the kid down.
  • Gino, Nonette, and Monica all listen to their consciences.
    • While Arcee is naturally wary around him and Kallen reminds him he's still got a lot to answer for (which Gino himself admits), Cliffjumper welcomes his former Friendly Enemy with a smile.
    • Nonette makes clear her loyalty to the Emperor and Britannia will always be secondary to her loyalty to Rai, even calling him by his preferred adopted name. Rai returns the favor by standing by her side against Dorothea.
    • No sooner does Shirley send her a text saying Decepticons have taken their friends' hostage (itself showcasing a lot of trust between the two girls) does Monica stop her fight with Suzaku and head straight for Ashford Academy to rescue them.
    • As Ratchet Groundbridges himself there to help, Shirley pleads with him to take her along.
Shirley: Please! Let me help! They need me!
Ratchet: (hesitates, then smiles) Of course they do.

Chapter 35

  • Shirley manages to talk Nina out of going on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge for Euphemia's sake, helping her realize the evil of Britannia and the Decepticons, and that Euphemia and the Black Knights want to help people.
  • When Shirley decides to help Ratchet, Bumblebee, Cecile and Monica fight Hardshell, Rivalz, Milly, and Nina volunteer to help as well to repay the Autobots for saving them.
  • Cliffjumper doesn't show any fear or hesitation while shoving Luciano into a generator, instead giving Arcee and Kallen a parting smile that remains even after his death. He even promises to say hi to Naoto and Tailgate for them.
    Cliffjumper: I love you guys.
  • Rai blows off Breakdown's head and takes down Knock Out and Dorothea, all because he wants to protect Nonette and Bulkhead.
  • Suzaku and Euphemia reuniting with the latter giving Suzaku a full kiss on the lips.
  • Cornelia and Euphemia apologize and reconcile with each other after being freed, with the former even thanking Suzaku and Dreadwing for saving them. She even addresses Suzaku by his first name.
  • Dreadwing realizes his T-Cog is too damaged for him to escape the deposit's blast radius, so he stays behind to fend off the Insecticons until detonation, all while sending his final thoughts to Suzaku, Cornelia, and Euphemia.
Dreadwing: Cornelia li Britannia, you and I may not have agreed on everything. But you are an honorable warrior, one who cares deeply for your comrades as well as for your family. I am proud to have fought beside you. [...] Euphie... you are a kind soul... one who wishes for all people to live happy lives, regardless of their differences. Continue to strive for the peaceful future you wish for, and never let go of that kind heart you hold deep inside. [...] Suzaku Kururugi... You are my brother. You have many flaws, but I wouldn't trade you for any other. You wish to atone for your past sins; be sure that you do, by living for the sake of those you care for. For your friends' sake, for your loved ones' sake, don't abandon them, not now, not ever. [...] Thank you... all of you... for showing me... light... Goodbye.
  • Even as Megatron's Geass nearly brings Optimus to despair, Alpha Trion appears in the vision to remind him of all the good he's done and will continue to do. The Prime cites Lelouch as an example: a broken child, angry at the world for the pain inflicted upon him and his loved ones, but still good at his heart. Optimus brought hope to him and steered him away from falling into the darkness, which in turn inspired many others. Revitalized by Alpha Trion's words, Optimus breaks free of the Geass and pounds Megatron.

Chapter 36

  • Throughout the chapter, Kallen is comforted for the loss of Cliffjumper by not just Arcee, but a good number of her friends. Her chatty Nice Guy partner will be remembered.
  • Lelouch's friends and allies unite to save him from Megatron's Dark Geass. With the power of the Matrix of Leadership, Nunnally, Optimus, and C.C. enter Megatron's vision to give the boy a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech. Remembering all the people he's come to care about, Lelouch breaks free of the nightmare with the promise that he'll never stop fighting.
  • Nunnally regains her sight!
  • Cornelia's reunion with Lelouch and Nunnally.
  • The Black Knights and Autobots cement their loyalty and friendship to Lelouch. Likewise, Cornelia joins the Black Knights, as well as Euphie, Lloyd, Cecile, Nonette, and Monica. The rest of the Ashford Student Council also join as well to help their friends.
    • One of them quickly proves her worth to The Alliance: Nina suggests using the Decepticons' own broadcast to call for reinforcements, prompting this reaction from the resident Dr. Jerk:
Ratchet: (laughs triumphantly) Nina Einstein, you are a genius!
    (Nina smiles blushingly)
  • Cera, while making a contract with Optimus, outright begs the spirits of the Primes to allow it, because she's started becoming real friends with the Autobots and Black Knights, and wants to avoid losing them.
    • The Primes in turn do not attack her despite the power of Geass originating from Unicron itself, and once they hear her impassioned plea, fully agree to the contract, provided C.C. swears to put all her might into aiding her friends and upholding the cause of freedom and justice. Cera does so with the same words Lelouch used when they made their contract.
    • The interactions between Optimus and Cera as well, before and after they make the contract. At the beginning of the story, they are tentative allies at best, but now Cera openly says the Autobot leader has the strongest will of any person she's met in her life, and Optimus completely trusts the immortal despite her warning of Geass often having unpredictable effects.
    Optimus: Till all are one.
    Cera: Till all are one.
  • Somewhat tellingly, the characters and narration more frequently use (and by the end of the chapter, completely switch to) her real name as opposed to C.C.
  • The ending. Megatron sends out a message into space to rally his Decepticons to come to Earth and take over the planet. However, the Autobot-Black Knight alliance secretly sent a message of their own to gather any Autobot resistance that are scattered across the universe. No matter how bleak the situation is, there is still hope.

    R2: Revolution
Chapter 1
  • The Glinda Knights are shown to be very close with each other, as they're saddened by Johann Schwarzer's death and vow to stay by Marrybell's side.
  • As she, Milly, and Rivalz have infiltrated the Decepticons' communication center at Mt. Fuji, Shirley reports in her message to Zero that Guilford is alive and with them, noting Cornelia would be happy to hear that. Poor guy's finally going to get a break after six months.
  • Thanks to cybernetic braces, Nunnally is able to walk again!
  • Chromia is one of the new Autobots that arrives during the Time Skip, reuniting her with Ironhide.
  • In blatant contrast to the Decepticons (except for Sky-Byte) gleefully slaughtering any humans in their path, the Autobots that have arrived in the time skip work almost seamlessly with their allies among the Black Knights and Peace Mark; they pair up to go after certain targets and watch each others' backs.
  • Cornelia's new Knightmare, a custom Vincent, is painted in the colors of the Glaston Knights in memory of Darlton and his sons.
  • Rai honoring his mother Sakura and sister Erina by having Kururugi be his last name.
  • Lelouch uses his Geass on a Vehicon to make him help the Black Knights free the slaves at Mt. Fuji, then tells him to leave and reconsider his life choices. Optimus notes with pride that Lelouch has changed — months ago, he would have ordered the Vehicon to kill himself, but now he's giving him a chance.
  • Optimus's Geass, the Prime Geass of Absolute Conviction, increases his Hope Bringer status even further, allowing him to raise the spirits of even those who are all but completely broken by his words, all without forcing his will on them.
  • Lelouch mentally promises Cliffjumper, Dreadwing, and all of their other fallen comrades that their deaths will not have been in vain and punctuates it with detonating Mt. Fuji.
  • A small one has Megatron praising Soundwave when the latter manages to decode several coordinates for the Iacon relics.
Megatron: You never cease to surprise me, my friend.

Chapter 2

  • Guilford and Cornelia reuniting after several months apart.
  • Cornelia has come a long way during the Time Skip, she's respectful to the Japanese Akari Kozuki, gently teases Guilford, and has no problem being in an Autobot unit and taking orders from Ultra Magnus, even asking him to have Guilford assigned to the Elite Guard with her.
  • It's revealed that Villetta/Chigusa's memories returned during the Time Skip, and despite this, she still wants to change for the better. She also mentions that even before, she considered Guilford an inspiration.
  • Grindcore giving Suzaku some advice and comforting him as a fellow ex-Decepticon, telling him he always looks out for his "Teamies".
Suzaku: Teamie? But we're in different squads...
Grindcore: Eh, so long as we both got this... (Points to the Autobot symbol on his shoulders and Suzaku's uniform) I don't care if we're on different squads, we're on the same team. And anyone on the same team is a teamie to me.
    • Jazz and Sideswipe later tell Suzaku much the same thing; they're aware of Suzaku's mistakes but are still willing to give him a chance to do better.
  • Bumblebee and Smokescreen have nothing but respect and glowing words for Alpha Trion, making Shirley wish they could've met the old Prime who had also mentored Optimus. The Elite Guard cadet says to that:
Smokescreen: Well, I know he would have liked you guys. He always had a soft spot for the younger generation.
  • What's the first thing that Lelouch thinks of using the Forge of Solus Prime for? Fixing Bumblebee's voice box, which Cornelia notes.
  • Optimus almost managed to get through to Anya via his Geass and would have if Marianne hadn't intervened.
  • Lelouch protecting Optimus from being killed by the Dark Mordred, which is being piloted by his mother.
  • Gino rescues Anya when her Knightmare is damaged.
  • When Kallen was abrasive to Suzaku (due to feeling that he was replacing the late Cliffjumper), it was Arcee who convinces her that while no one can replace their late comrade (having lost Tailgate along with the fact Arcee was also partners with Cliffjumper), that doesn't mean she couldn't find other partners - they met plenty of people during the time they spent with each other. Strongarm, despite being a rookie, was willing to be a friend to the redhead. This escalates in Kallen and Suzaku utilizing a Combination Attack with their Knightmares to defeat Steeljaw, Airachnid, Thunderhoof, and the Insecticons, and after the mission, they were finally able to make up.
  • Suzaku and Euphemia share a kiss or two at the end, and the knight telling the princess he doesn't need a command to love her.

Chapter 3

  • Nunnally could actually walk again under her own power soon.
  • The non-com Black Knights and Autobots, including Ratchet, praising Nina for how far she's come since the end of R1.
  • When Nunnally expresses her sadness over Metroplex's death and the fact that he can't be revived, Perceptor assures her that the titanic Autobot's sacrifice was not in vain, as it allowed the Autobots to escape to Earth and meet their Black Knight allies.
  • Ms. X getting an actual name of her own.
  • Drift's concern for his Mini-Cons.
  • Doubles as a funny moment, after Suzaku thanks Grindcore for his advice, the Wrecker demands he get in his Knightmare so he can hug him.

Chapter 4

  • Elita-One advising Lelouch when he's worried about facing Megatron again.
    • And before her, Nunnally and Kallen console him about the trauma he still feels from Megatron's Dark Geass, the latter emphasizing that Lelouch doesn't have to fight Megatron alone.
  • Optimus' first instinct upon witnessing Megatron's fresh Terrorcon army is to order Lelouch and the Zero Squad to fall back to the Ark. Not a single one thinks of leaving their leader behind.
  • Everyone reassuring a rattled Lelouch after he sees the Dark Queen.

Chapter 5

  • Alice's concern for her friends upon realizing that she's been rescued, and Nunnally offers to be the one to befriend her.
  • Despite his injuries, Guilford is willing to put his life on the line to defend over two million civilians residing in the Ark. Cornelia was both concerned and touched by his conviction to stand and fight.
  • Lelouch briefly remembers with a smile how Optimus had insisted that the Omniglobe be built for him. A way of acknowledging Lelouch's strengths and showing the trust between them.
  • Megatron tries to drive a wedge in-between Optimus and Cera with his knowledge of her secrets, namely her participation in Ragnarok, but Optimus counters it and reveals that he already knew that she was keeping more secrets, he was just waiting for her to be comfortable saying them.
    • Cera keeps herself from tearing up at the realization of how much he trusts her and respects her wishes but promises him that she will tell him everything one day.
  • Gino tells the heroes to kill him to keep the Decepticons from forcing him to kill them. Bumblebee and Rai find a way to save him instead.
  • Everybody, human or Cybertronian, celebrating at the chapter's end. They've not only survived a grueling battle but handed the Decepticons their first completely irrefutable defeat and saved all of the civilians aboard the Ark.
  • At the end of the chapter, Optimus's Geass finally takes effect and awakens some actual guilt in Marianne for how poorly she and Charles have treated their children and how they have affected Anya. This leads to Marianne finally opening a dialogue with her host.

Chapter 6

  • The whole chapter is pretty much a Breather Episode, with the Black Knights and Autobots enjoying some well-needed downtime at Horai Island, they and the civilians celebrating their escape and first major blow against the Decepticons.
  • Lelouch seeing a kindred spirit in Li Xingke through dedication to Empress Tianzi which the former prince notes is on par with his own to Nunnally, assures him that they will stop the High Eunuchs, restore true power to Tianzi, and bring democracy to the Chinese Federation.
  • When Gino wakes up, he's greeted by the sight of his former classmates and fellow defected Knights of The Round pouring into his hospital room to check on him. After they leave at his request to join the giant party, Arthur stays and keeps him company.
  • Doubling as a Moment of Funny. Cera finally getting a slice of one of the giant pizzas - six slices of them after being denied her chance six months ago!
  • As he watches the celebration with Arcee, Optimus notes that the Autobots and Black Knights have become the one thing he learned from Earth that's greater than an army: a family.
  • Kallen pulling Lelouch into the festivities.
  • Jetstorm, Safeguard, and The Four Swords trying to get Tohdoh and Drift to join the fun.

Chapter 7

  • Akito brings up Euphie's supposed part in the SAZ Massacre and questions how Black Knights could rally behind a Britannian prince (Lelouch), earning him rebuttals from Suzaku and Kallen, respectively.
  • Euphie and Velaines have a pretty civil reunion, the latter assuring the former that he doesn't believe for a second that she had anything to do with the Massacre. Velaines is also fully willing to negotiate and consider pardoning the Autobots and Black Knights, even Optimus Prime and Zero, if it means standing together against the Decepticons. They part as they meet: on good terms.
  • Leila is silently in awe with the way Lelouch and Suzaku display to her and Smilas how much thought they've put into building a just and equal society for all of Earth after the Decepticons are dealt with. She resolves to help them with every fiber of her being, also wondering if Optimus Prime is also like these two young idealists. She'll be in for a treat when she meets him...
  • Ryo and his gang joining the Black Knights. Though Ultra Magnus argues that their crimes shouldn't be excused, Leila makes her canon offer to the trio, and Elita chimes in as well, stressing that they do indeed have freedom of choice in this situation. Ryo thinks to himself that there's something about the fembot that puts him at ease, making his agreement all the more relaxed.
    • Lelouch gives Leila full support in her decision.

Chapter 8

  • Leila takes an opportunity to thank Cera again for saving her life all those years ago; though Cera admits that it was mostly for selfish reasons at the time, the green-haired girl is still praised for now wanting to help Lelouch and Optimus save the world.
    • Then Leila asks her what Optimus is like.
Cera: It's... hard to put it into words. But... At a time when I was completely devoid of all emotion... he brought hope back into my life. I... I think it'll make more sense if you see him for yourself. I'm sure the two of you will get along quite well.
Leila: I'm looking forward to it.
  • Lelouch teasing Leila about her attraction to Akito, while even admitting to her about his own growing feelings towards Kallen.
  • Yukiya is convinced not to blow himself up by Akito, Lelouch (who reveals his true identity), and Grindcore (who sympathizes with his rotten childhood).
  • Ryo's party consists of Suzaku, Rai, and Sideswipe, who allow him and his friends the chance of going somewhere safe (sure, the EU considers them prisoners, but none of the three are with the EU), but encourage him to fight for a place he can call home, as well as for others who have that same wish.
  • After Kallen, Leila, and Strongarm manage to prevent Ayano's escape, Kallen finds common ground with her fellow Japanese girl - both of them lost loved ones, and were too wracked with pain and anger to allow people who genuinely wanted to help them get close. Strongarm and Leila convince Ayano that they will guide her down the right path, fight alongside her, and make sure everyone comes back alive in their upcoming mission.

Chapter 9

  • Pretty much the whole chapter is about Lelouch, his friends and allies, and Nunnally and Euphemia hanging out in Warsaw and having a fun time.
    • Lelouch and Akito, as well as Leila and Suzaku, take a moment at night to bond over their troubled pasts, and the chance to change them.
    • Nunnally comments that, while everyone has been through horrible events, they've all come out of it stronger and found each other.
    • During the big dance on their final night with the Romani, all the romantic pairs (explicit and implied) all get the chance to dance together.
      • In the midst of it all, Milly takes a moment to compliment Nina's growth as a person.
    • The elderly Romani woman assuring Cera that she can reclaim her soul.
    • As in canon, Akito and Leila have a moment alone together on the final night at camp. When Akito admits to fearing something horrible might happen soon, and recalling the night his brother killed his whole family, Leila responds by hugging him and admitting she's glad he survived; it meant she got to meet him. They later share a dance around the fire.

Chapter 10

  • Leila having the honor of meeting Optimus for the first time, despite it not being in person (Optimus was communicating via screen). Here's to hoping she finally meets the Autobot leader for real.
  • Marrybell and Ashley bonding and agreeing to work together.

Chapter 11

  • Anya and Marianne pass on a message to Nonette so that Shirley can learn that her father's alive.
  • Everyone working together to bring Marrybell and Akito out of the effects of Shin's Geass.

Chapter 12

  • Leila stepping in front of Nunnally and protecting her from Shin's Geass.
  • It's a little understated, but Lelouch seems to have re-bonded with his sister Marrybell nicely. Judging by her firing him on during their counter-ambush:
Marrybell: Give them hell, little brother!
  • Just when Velaines and Farnese grow to lose hope for Euro-Britannia, they get a call from Euphemia who's with some new friends (the Glynda Knights and Asura Strike Force) to save them.
  • The Autobots promising to help Claus's daughter even if he dies in the battle.
    • Also, Orpheus and Prowl don't show a hint of disgust towards Claus for being a double agent. Quite the contrary, they understand his situation completely and are more than willing to provide his daughter with the proper care.
  • Leila gives a Rousing Speech to the capital of Europia, convincing them all to unite together with The Black Knights and Autobots and stand against the Decepticons together. She even does what Euphemia did before her and gives a Borrowed Catchphrase from Optimus Prime, declaring "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." By the end of it, the crowd is cheering her name, as well as Zero's and Optimus Prime's.
  • Before being Geassed to serve Zero, Smilas contests if he can honestly believe that someone as idealistic (read: naive) as Leila could lead Europia. Zero, who has become as much of a mentor to Leila as Smilas, unreservedly answers that he does. Coming from Lelouch, that is an immense amount of faith and pride he's giving to Europia's newest, rising revolutionary.
Smilas: Do you really think that foolish girl can lead Europia into the future?!
Zero: A future of peace and freedom with the rest of the world? Yes I do.

Chapter 13

  • When Alice was trying to come to terms with how her friends and comrades can still keep fighting even with the enemy at their doorstep, Suzaku, Bumblebee, and especially Nunnally convince her to have hope, especially when they're working together and that the former Headmaster was a part of the team. Though she still didn't understand, this was enough for a vowing Alice to rescue Sancia, Dalque, and Lucretia from the Decepticons.
Nunnally: Yes. Hope for victory, hope for a brighter tomorrow, hope that when this madness ends, we can all live together in peace and happiness. I wish that more than anything too, and I know we can get it if we all work together. And you're a part of that now Alice.
Bumblebee: [No matter what may have happened to you in the past, you're part of something greater now.]
Suzaku: Something bigger than just yourself.
  • Marrybell's awestruck reaction to her first meeting with Optimus Prime, so much that it was practically an understatement!
  • Despite its darker origin from Unicron, there's a hopeful dimension that when Codes and Geass first appeared, 2/3 of the original users were benevolent leaders. Showing that the Primes were right about the ability to use power for good despite its origins.

Chapter 14

  • Despite nearly getting shot by Jean Rowe, it's Shirley that manages to convince her to undergo a Heel–Face Turn, noting the similarities between the two - specifically how they're both blindly loyal to someone they love who doesn't love them back. After getting through to her, this was enough for Jean to burst into tears.
Shirley: I know what you're feeling right now. I used to be like that too. There was someone that I loved, and after learning just what kind of man he is, I wanted to make myself into someone who could be worthy of his love. But… no matter what I did…even if he did care for me as a friend… he wouldn't love me back.
Jean: Stay away! (fires at Shirley, almost grazing her arm)
Shirley: And I know… that no matter what you do or how much you want to devote yourself to him… he won't love you back either. And even more… you know this is wrong. I see it in your eyes. The Decepticons are going to destroy this entire world, and I don't think you really want that.
Jean: Shut up! How I feel is irrelevant! The only thing that matters now… is Lord Hyuga's objective! I'm going to make it come true!
(Shirley manages to gently lower Jean's firearm)
Shirley: Loving someone, doesn't mean being a devoted servant. It's about helping them be the best person they can be. I've come to terms and accept that the person I once loved doesn't love me back, but that doesn't mean I don't care about him anymore, or that I've stopped helping him. I've also come to meet so many more people I'd never even thought I'd meet; people from all over this world, and even beyond. I've even found someone new(gives Jean a Cooldown Hug) You don't have to close your heart to all of it. There's a whole world out there, with plenty of good people. The world isn't perfect, but it's one worth protecting. One worth loving.
Jean: (starts crying) Why… why are you… trying to make me stop…?
Shirley: Because that's what it means to care, and to love. Seeing the good in people and helping them be the best they can be.

Chapter 15

  • Tianzi is rescued from the clutches of the High Eunuchs and the Decepticons and gets to meet the warm and friendly Autobots. Her expression says it all.

Chapter 16

  • Windblade treating Tianzi to an airborne ride above Horai Island and the pure gleeful episode she has as she tells Xingke about the experience upon coming back to the ground. This is implied to be the first time in the former Chinese empress' life that she got to act like an actual young child.
  • The 3rd and 4th princesses reunite with their estranged half sister Marybell, continuing to grow the defectors of the royal family as a more healthy Sibling Team with the black knights.
  • Oldrin and Orpheus meet face to face for the first time after they joined forces under the autobots. While very stilted and uneasy because of their conflicting pasts, Oldrin makes a pledge that they've come back together, and they can be real siblings now that they've found each other.
  • Akari Kozuki advises Suzaku, Arcee, and Kallen to not allow vengeance to consume them for the loss of their loved ones.
Akari: I understand how you all feel. That monster... he deserves what's coming. But... you can't let that need for vengeance consume you. Revenge is like a poison, it can take you over, and before you know it… it could turn us into something ugly.
  • Shirley asking about "Till all are one" makes her realize that unintentionally, Lelouch has remolded The Black Knights to fit the same message of unity. That all colors together make black, and that's what he's doing in trying to unite the world.

Chapter 18

  • Jeremiah begs Nunnally for the chance to do right by her for his failure in protecting her mother. She decides to give him the benefit of the doubt after some thought, granting the man respite from his story-long (admittedly deserved) Humiliation Conga.
    • Part of his plea involves telling about the Geass Order and the Thought Elevators. Shirley's thereby one step closer to reuniting with her father.
    • When Rivalz jokingly calls him the "Orange Knight" due to him now aligning with the Black Knights, Jeremiah thinks to himself it has a nice ring to it. He's already begun to grow past his old self.

Chapter 19

  • Lelouch and Kallen have serious Ship Tease in this chapter, as they both admit they'd be happy to stay together after the war is over.
  • Lelouch encourages Elita to still pursue some kind of relationship with Optimus, even if he's not the same as when he was Orion Pax.
  • After Suzaku's Geass order to live is canceled out, Lelouch says he doesn't need it anymore, now that he has things to actually live for.

Chapter 20

Chapter 21

  • Asahina having a heart-to-heart talk with Jetstorm and Safeguard about being able to prove themselves to their masters.
  • Tohdoh and Xingke assuring Drift that his past as a Decepticon doesn't matter, only who he chooses to be now.
  • Everyone congratulating Jetstorm and Safeguard on their strategy to beat the Combaticons and save their leaders.

Chapter 22

  • Though they have their own conflicting feelings about missions, Ultra Magnus does empathize with Guilford about losing his former princess and the difficulties in losing teammates.
  • The pride and relief that Gamma team has seeing Cornelia and Chigusa emerge from the Avalon.
  • Guilford reassuring Cornelia that no matter what Schneizel is planning, they'll face it together.

Chapter 23

  • Grimlock and Alice bonding over their shared pasts as victims of experimentation. He even promises to help free her friends, not just because he understands their suffering but because as he puts it, no matter what else he's still an Autobot, and that means helping people.

Chapter 24

  • For those unfamiliar with the source material, getting inside Toto's head is interesting. Revealing her Becoming the Mask in loyalty to Oldrin, and now happy that she and her twin can reunite as a real family now.
  • Sigma team congratulating Nina for creating the base code for their virus.

Chapter 25

  • Rai realizes that his feelings for Shirley aren't just a crush, but actual love.
  • Tamaki helps Rai fight against Nemesis Prime:
Tamaki: Co-pilot, kid. I told ya I got your back.
    Rai: Thanks man.
  • Rai Taking the Bullet to save Nonette from getting cut down by Nemesis Prime.

Chapter 26

  • Everyone's worry for Rai after Nemesis Prime injuries him shows just how much they care about their friend.
  • A villainous example, but Sky-Byte voluntarily helps Knock Out repair the cosmetic damage he received in Paris.
  • After his declaration of love, Rai and Shirley finally share a Big Damn Kiss.

Chapter 27

  • Rai thanking Nina for her help on his new prosthetic arm and Milly, Rivalz and Shirley for coming to offer their support. Especially for Shirley who kisses him on the cheek, with the narration even referring to her as Rai's girlfriend.
  • The reveal that despite the Zevon family's favouritism towards female heirs, Orpheus and Oldrin's mother devoted her time and resources to finding him after he disappeared as an infant. She didn't do this for familiar honour or anything like it, but because she actually loved her son.
  • Jeremiah swearing his loyalty to Lelouch and Optimus.

Chapter 28

  • Cera finally talking about Ragnarok. It was a terrible ordeal recounting how her Death Seeker mentality drove her to try and create an Assimilation Plot. But Lelouch is quick to point out that the C.C. who wanted that isn't the Cera who gave him purpose alongside the Autobots. And who found a new family with the black knights.
    • The others note that with his great compassion now, Lelouch has truly grown into a young man worthy of leading.
  • Toto admits her past as a member of the Geass Order, but also added she never got to follow her orders for two reasons: first, the Decepticons barged in and reorganized the Geass Order to work for them, and second, while working undercover as the Zevons' maid, Oldrin treated Toto like she was part of her family, making the Geass Order agent feel likewise. Oldrin, Orpheus, and Marrybell all immediately forgive Toto for that, telling her that all that matters is that she's family to them now.
  • At long last, Shirley and her father are reunited.

Chapter 29

  • Anya and the Headmasters manage to get rescued by the Autobots and Black Knights, saving them from months of torment.

Chapter 30

  • Only time will tell when Marianne reveals the truth about her crimes, but without a doubt her reunion with Lelouch and Nunnally is sweet.
  • Kallen and Lelouch have a Held Gaze moment. Although they're both not quite ready to consider themselves a pair, it's clear that they have finally registered their feelings for one another. Had Cera not been in the same room, it's not hard to imagine that the two would have had their First Kiss here.
  • Mixed with a funny moment is Marianne showing her support of Lelouch and Kallen, joking that she gets her new body before she becomes a grandmother, much to the embarrassment of the two.
  • The Research & Development team contemplating the idea of reconfiguring the Cortical Psychic Patch for medical usage, such as waking people up from comas and restoring lost memories.
  • With Alice, Dalque, Sancia, and Lucretia finally reunited, they form the Irregulars (with Grimlock as the leader, Misty as logistics & coordination, and Nunnally as an honorary member) - a unit united by the kindred connection of being experimented on in the past. Grimlock noted internally that if he did find the rest of the Dinobots, he will introduce them to the girls - with Swoop possibly taking a liking to them.
  • Nunnally finally regaining usage of her legs - along with Bumblebee's restored voice.
    • On top of that, Lelouch reveals that Bumblebee's new voice box was the very first thing that was made using the Forge of Solus Prime.
  • Even Megatron of all beings shows a moment of kindness by sincerely thanking Soundwave and Shockwave for rescuing him from his Shadowzone prison.
Megatron: Soundwave, you are truly among my most reliable soldiers. You have my gratitude for years of unwavering loyalty and service. {...} An artificial Thought Elevator. Shockwave, your work always exceeds my expectations.

Chapter 31

  • The beginning is a flashback where Joseph Fennette meets Rai, his daughter's boyfriend. Joseph apologizes to Rai for being a part of the group which experimented on him while he was in Clovis' custody. He quickly forgives the man.
  • Thundercracker helps Odysseus, Carine, and Laila escape from Decepticon custody. As does an unexpected figure — the Vehicon that Lelouch Geassed back in Chapter 1, who did indeed rethink his life choices.
  • Elita and Optimus speak privately, and both admit that while they regret their past romance didn't work out, they still care for each other. Elita also praises all that Optimus has done with Lelouch, while noting how much he reminds her of the Orion Pax she once knew.
  • After forming the Silver King with Suzaku, Lelouch tells his old friend it feels good to be fighting together like this, who returns the sentiment.
  • Saberhorn is a Decepticon, but he is one with honor, acknowledging his defeat by Alice. He dies knowing he fought a true warrior.

Chapter 32

  • Jetstorm and Safeguard offering Chiba their condolences over the loss of her fellow teammates in the Four Holy Swords, especially since the two Mini-cons became firm friends with Asahina during the Iacon Relics arc.

Chapter 33

  • Upon being declared worthy of bearing the Matrix and becoming Optimus' successor as Prime, what does Lelouch do? He refuses the idea point blank, and not just because he considers himself unworthy, but because he wouldn't trade all the power of the Matrix of Leadership if it meant losing Optimus.
    • Optimus is touched by this sentiment, musing how this proves Lelouch all the more worthy of being Prime. (Which is confirmed by Alpha Trion)
  • Before the battle, Cornelia assures Steve ("One defector to another") that he doesn't have to take part and promises to watch his back when he insists. She makes good on this during the battle itself, and joins the others in preventing Slug from attacking him.
  • Grimlock is finally reunited with his team.
  • When it seems like Optimus is going to die from his wounds, it's Nunnally, the girl who like her brother has come to see the Autobot leader as a father, that refuses to let this happen. Her resolve inspires Ratchet, Milly, Shirley, Nina, Rivalz, Cecile, Perceptor and a still-amnesiac Cera to help her fit the Forge of Solus Prime into his grip and restore him.
  • In the post battle debrief, Ultra Magnus wants to get confirmation about the inactivity of The Forge, and the medical team all take responsibility for the action. But, Magnus admits that given the flow of the battle, they probably would've LOST if they didn't bring Optimus back. So, even if they lost a chance to restore Cybertron, that doesn't mean they can't protect Earth still from the same fate.

Chapter 34

  • Lelouch's side of the family finally has a sit down with the remainder of the royal family. Though they don't have all the information on the family's sins (yet), one resolution Nunnally offers to them all is that as the last of the royal siblings, perhaps after this is all done, we can be a real family instead. To have dinners and not worry about intrigues after all this finishes.
  • Ohgi comforting Ironhide after losing the bot of his life.
  • In the post-resurrection talk, the people around Lelouch are quick to point out that despite his own feelings, he's changed A LOT to become worthy of the Matrix. Especially how he's refraining from using his Geass much more.
  • Talking with Knock Out, Gino appeals to his lack of malice, while Lloyd appeals to his nostalgia to join the Autobots as a new warrior. And it works.

Chapter 35

  • While Optimus is understandably angry at Marianne's actions, he recognises her resolve to truly atone for what she has done. Marianne, in turn, vows to do everything in her power to set things right.

Chapter 36

  • Taking a breather for Steeljaw to disable the groundbridge blocker, Cera and Nunnally finally have a proper talk about her role in Ragnarok. Cera is of course remorseful, but Nunnally's first action is to give her a big hug. That no matter what she did before, she saved Lelouch's life and her life several times over since then. That she's family now, and she'll always love her.
  • While everyone's worried about Ratchet going after Shockwave, he insists that fighting together against Megatron is more important, and that they'll need all their best weapons.
  • As she prepares to bring the others to finish off Megatron, Marianne gives a fond goodbye to Anya, telling her to live her life with no regrets.
    • Anya for her part, despite her continued anger at Marianne stealing her life, feels almost like "losing a part of herself" as Marianne leaves her body to bring the rest of the team out. Even wishing that Marianne will find the peace she always wanted regardless of her.
  • Kallen seals what she and Lelouch were working towards with The Big Damn Kiss as he goes after Megatron.

Chapter 37

  • Akito showing Shin that hope has given him a new family that will watch his back forever. As the Black Wyverns and Crimson Knights join together to finish him off.
  • After Megatron kills him, Lelouch's spirit (and Marianne's because she happened to be next to his body) is brought to the Realm of the Primes, where the eponymous spirits offer him a portion of their power so he can be resurrected strong enough to stop Megatron for good. Keyword, "offer;" the Primes stress they won't force Lelouch to accept if he for some reason doesn't want to return.
    • Lelouch of course remembers plenty of reasons to return to the living: Nunnally, Suzaku, Cera, Bumblebee, Optimus and Kallen.
    • Lelouch states the Primes could just empower Optimus seeing as he's still alive and has a much better chance of withstanding such energies, all of which the Primes agree with. Nevertheless, they want to give Lelouch this chance. Why? Because he impressed them by rejecting the Matrix of Leadership, something never done before.
Lelouch: Because Optimus would have died if I accepted it!
Solus Prime: And that act right there proves you are truly worthy. You rejected power for love. We know how much Optimus means to you, and the fact you were willing to give up a chance at such incredible power so that someone you care for so deeply shows us who you are.
Vector Prime: In the beginning, you were angry and vengeful, untrusting of others. But as time passed, you changed. Your interactions with those around you and your experiences have transformed you. And that is the natural order of things.
Micronus Prime: Nobody is perfect, not even us. Some of us lost our way, others found new forms of enlightenment. We all change... we all transform regardless of our origins.
Alpha Trion: And you have not only transformed yourself, but others around you. As Optimus has said, the Matrix is not found, it is earned. And you have earned this chance to wield this power, but above all... you have a chance to live again. To continue to live with those you love and experience life.
  • Marianne finally decides to put her children before herself, as she asks the Primes to let her take the brunt of the energy so to increase Lelouch's chance to survive the Emergency Transformation, even if it means her soul will be destroyed. And in turn, seeing that she's utterly serious about sacrificing herself for her son, Lelouch tells her that at least in this final moment, he forgives her in part.
    • As the Primes pour their power into Lelouch's spirit, Marianne's last act as a being is to hug her son to protect him from the worst of it, until finally her spirit dissipates from the overwhelming power.
  • Returning to his sister, Lelouch tells Nunnally that even after all this, their mother's last words to her was that she loved them. And the two siblings collapse and hug at this final sacrifice and victory.
  • Once the battle is over, Sky-Byte and Thundercracker, knowing that they won't be able to flee, decide to surrender themselves to the Autobots, accepting that they might be taken prisoners. Elita-One and Ultra Magnus however, decide to give them a chance to make amends, offering hands of peace. The two Decepticons are surprised at first, but they happily accept the gesture of goodwill.
  • As everyone joins together in the caverns, many happy reunions are joined. With Nunnally hugging all those affected by the Cons, Euphie giving Suzaku his celebration kiss, and finally, Kallen and Lelouch sharing their second kiss of victory.

Chapter 38

  • R2's final chapter is a Wedding Finale - that of Ohgi and Chigusa!
    • And the best part is that the bridesmaids and groomsmen are both Cybertronians and Humans. A final show of their unity.
  • With the Time Skip, we find out that several people finally started acting on their desires without the war to worry them.
    • Chiba managed to convince Tohdoh to start dating.
    • Cornelia got engaged to Guilford.
    • Orpheus began rebuilding his heart with Monica now showing him affection.
  • Among the young warriors, there's several sweet plans being made.
    • Milly, seeing the world slowing down, thinks that being a journalist under Diethard might be good.
    • Nina is happy to start doing science that isn't destructive.
    • Bulkhead, Warpath and Wheeljack all think it'll be good to go back to being construction workers again.
    • And Shirley's taken the biggest change to her life: She wants to become a therapist. With all the danger and pain everyone went through in the wars, they'll need someone like her to help heal their minds after everything.
  • Nunnally is still wrestling with guilt over disowning her mother right before she sacrificed herself for her brother, unsure of how to feel about these conflicting emotions. While Sky-Byte is empathetic over Megatron's image shattering for him in the same way, Alice goes to the point that forgiveness is a choice. That no matter how Nunnally's feelings might change, that to live is the best way to move past and honor her mother at the same time.
  • With nowhere else to go after leaving the Decepticons, Sky-Byte is allowed to join the Dinobots, with the team reasoning that since there were prehistoric sharks in the time of the dinosaurs such as the Megalodon, he fits the bill. Sky-Byte is overjoyed and happily accepts the Dinobots' offer.
  • A memorial to every member of the Black Knight-Autobot alliance is erected, but among all the names of the fallen members, Lelouch requested that Marianne be included as well for her Heroic Sacrifice last chapter.
  • While Lelouch still doesn't know what he'll do with his life after fixing Japan, he tells Kallen that he's actually glad about it. Because it means he has the freedom to choose and the peace to not worry about it.
  • Optimus Prime's final monologue as he and Cera watch the sunset together.
Optimus: The war is over, and though it came at a heavy cost, fate has yielded its reward… a new world to call home. We live among its people now, helping to improve as they aid us. We have taken pride and solace in the bonds we have forged with those that we can consider our friends and family… I have seen their capacity for courage, and though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye. My name is Optimus Prime, and I send this message to all Cybertronians, regardless of their affiliation. The war is over, and I invite you to join us and build a new future together. Though we did not choose to be of Earth, it would seem that we are here to stay. But should you approach this planet with hostile intent, know this… we will defend ourselves. We will defend humanity. We will defend… our home.
