Octavinelle

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/octavinellelogo.png
Founded on the pity of the Sea Witch, students from Octavinelle are known for their intelligence. When not attending lessons, they run the restaurant Mostro Lounge. Rumour has it that their dorm leader can grant any student any desire and if a student wishes for something, a pair of twins will appear before them.

The dorm and its members are twisted from The Little Mermaid (1989).

  • Bad Boss: How Azul, Jade, and Floyd treat the students that made contracts with them, down to disregarding any and all comments of how badly the students are being treated and even beating some of the students up.
  • Captain Smooth and Sergeant Rough: A variation. Azul is the smooth, classy boss, Floyd is the bloodthirsty muscle, and Jade is the smooth right-hand man who'll join in his brother's fun with a Slasher Smile on his face.
  • Childhood Friends: Subverted. While the twins have been in the same class as Azul since elementary school, they didn't take notice of him until shortly before middle school and only befriended him later on.
  • Cute Monster Boy: While the twins gain obviously animalistic traits in their eel forms, they still retain their human features such as their eyes, facial structure and humanoid torso, which doesn't really detract from their conventional attractiveness. Their comments and one of Yuu's dialogue choices in Chapter 3 imply that Azul's true form is also this.
  • Freudian Trio: Azul (cold, rational Superego), Jade (mediating Ego) and Floyd (emotional, impulsive Id).
  • Meaningful Name: "Octa" means 8, referencing the eight legs of an octopus, and "Vinelle" is reminiscent of the words "snail" and "conch".
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Azul and the Leech twins appear to be Apparently Human Merfolk at first, but certain dialogues and personal stories mention that they have another form for when they're underwater. While Azul's uncorrupted true form has yet to be revealed, the second part of Chapter 3 reveals Floyd and Jade's true forms as part-human, part-moray eel. Their eel forms lean noticeably further towards the fish end of the spectrum (claws, webbed fingers, vertical tail flukes, fins on the back of their forearms and in place of their ears, green colouration and markings extending past the hips to the torso and face) than the background merfolk depicted in the game, who all possess typical Disney merfolk anatomy.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: The dorm uniform consists of double-breasted suits, suspenders, cummerbunds, dress shoes, bowties, gloves and fedoras.
  • Theme Naming: All the known dorm members have their first names based on colors.

    Azul Ashengrotto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/octavinelle_chara_azul_detail_a.png
Voiced by: Atsushi Tamaru, Natsumi Hioka (child)
Twisted from: Ursula
Grade: Second year

The dorm leader of Octavinelle and the manager of Mostro Lounge. He has a courteous attitude, but is also extremely calculating and greedy.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: A non-romantic example. Jamil sees him as this due to how often Azul offers him a hand of friendship (as well as being interested in Jamil's true talents) in spite of Jamil's adamant refusal.
  • The Ace: He excels in most academic areas. When Jack and Yuu trail him in Chapter 3, they're at first unable to discover any flaws, with Azul displaying incredible competence in music, animal language and alchemy, not to mention his running his own successful restaurant (albeit staffed mostly by unwilling students magically forced into his service). The only subject he isn't good at is P.E.
  • Alliterative Name: Azul Ashengrotto.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: As a child, Azul was often bullied by other merchildren for being a physically slow, chubby octopus who emitted ink uncontrollably when he cried. This drove him to hone his magic skills so that he could make his bullies pay tenfold.
  • Always Someone Better: Riddle is this to him in terms of magic and academics, which Azul finds distasteful, as he wants Riddle to acknowledge him as an equal.
  • Animal Motifs: Octopus. Some dialogues and one of his SR versions' personal episodes hint that he has an octopus form when underwater. In Chapter 3 this is confirmed; his merform is part-human, part-octopus.
  • Badass in Distress: He and all the other overblot victims are captured by S.T.Y.X. in the Ignihyde arc.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He can be quite charming, but he is greedy and scheming underneath all that charming, affable personality.
  • Broken Ace: Azul, on the surface, seems to be a greedy if not excellent academic student with a weakness to physical education. He also hides a lot of insecurity of himself underneath it all and is only motivated to be the best to spite his former bullies and erase his past as a bully victim.
  • Coat Cape: Wears a grey overcoat on top of his dorm suit.
  • The Collector: In Azul's Birthday Suit SSR personal story, Azul has a habit of collecting coins. He discovered his hobby when he was a child and he used to pick up some coins near a sunken ship. At first, he thought it was ordinary coins from the ground until he discovers it was actually commemorative coins from a kingdom. He mentions the coins are worth about 50,000 madol per coin if traded in the market by collectors. After he found out the coins are very rare to find, he decides to collect them. He has a total of 200 coins and he framed some of his favorite coins and decorated them in his room.
  • Deal with the Devil: Azul's unique magic, "It's a Deal", works like this. Azul will grant whatever his targets want when they sign his contracts… for a price. As a child, Azul used it to target his merfolk classmates by granting their wishes while taking away what they treasured most; one merman got a girlfriend but his rich tenor voice became hoarse while another lost their ability to swim quickly because they exchanged their tail for silky blond hair.
  • Debt Detester: As his R Gym Uniform personal story shows, Azul hates getting aid from others because that means he owes them something in return, even if said aid is really just free of charge. When Jamil is assigned to tutor him in broom flying, Azul stubbornly refuses advice until Jamil is forced to demand a cheat sheet just to get him to finally comply.
  • Demonic Possession: During the second Halloween event, Endless Halloween Night. Azul is one of the many students kidnapped and taken over by ghosts. His ghost was a rather pessimistic and demotivated one, and as noted by Ortho, bearing a similar personality to Idia.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: After the climax of Chapter 3, Floyd points out that he, Jade, and a younger, chubby Azul are in the commemoration photo of Prince Rielle's school visit that Azul ordered Yuu to steal. Azul admits that he wanted to edit himself out of the photo as a way to erase his past, and had already done so with every other copy of the photo as well as the negatives.
  • Fatal Flaw: Greed. Due to his upbringing, he only cares about his collection as a way of screwing over others as a form of revenge, and once he loses his magical golden contracts, he snaps and proceeds to try and steal the entire dorm's magic, which quickly corrupts him.
  • First-Name Basis: With Jade and Floyd, most especially, as while Azul calls everyone by their first name, he usually adds an honorific when addressing them. However, there has been one notable instance wherein Azul dropped using honorifics when addressing Riddle.
  • Formerly Fat: Azul used to be chubby in his early childhood and young merfolk made fun of him because of his weight. He became determined to lose a lot of weight in order to forget his shameful past.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Gives off a calculating impression at first glance.
  • Good Stepmother: Gender inverted, Azul's birthday Personal story has him speak of his family and that his father is not related to him by blood and met his stepfather after dealing with the aftermath of her own divorce with Azul's biological father, but despite that, Azul has a good relationship with his father.
  • Immune to Mind Control: In Chapter 4, Azul is able to resist Jamil's Mind Manipulation by anticipating his actions and signing a contract with Floyd beforehand, allowing him to counter "Snake Whisper" with "Bind the Heart".
  • In-Series Nickname: Rook calls him "Roi de Fort".
  • Kids Are Cruel: In the past, he was often bullied by other young merfolk, with only Jade and Floyd befriending him.
  • Loophole Abuse: How Azul does his deals and contracts. This is one of the reasons why Crowley is unable to stop him as Azul covers his tracks well enough to never actually break the law himself. Every one of his deals is still done within the rules of Night Raven College and in the previous year, Crowley was only able to get Azul to return the magic of those he had a contract with by giving him permission to open Mostro Lounge.
  • Meaningful Name: 'Azul' means 'blue' in Spanish/Portuguese and 'Ashengrotto' comes from the words 'ashen' and 'grotto', referring to either Ursula's home or Ariel's grotto.
  • Old Shame: In-Universe. He considers his childhood this due to the bullying he suffered in the past, and wants to erase any records of his former appearance at all costs.
  • Only Friend: The Leech twins were this in his childhood due to bullying.
  • Power Limiter: Not him, but his magical golden contract works as this with his own unique magic as a filter for the magic or things he takes. Without said contract, Azul can still take magic from others, but this causes him to Overblot very easily as the stolen magic will overflow in him.
  • Power Parasite: In its most basic form, "It's a Deal" allows Azul to straight up steal one power or trait from a person. Its use (without the contracts that act as a Power Limiter) also causes massive amounts of blot to build up, which is why Azul's attempting to mass absorb traits causes him to overblot.
  • Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: While stealing magic was the main reason, a big part of Azul's plan was to enslave students who made contracts with him and force them to work for him and the twins at their lounge or however they saw fit, using the terms of the contract to justify the enslavement and the circumstances of said contracts (not just signing a contract but doing so to receive help on final exams, something that could be viewed as cheating or receiving an unfair advantage) to lower the chances of other students pitying them and trying to free them. Azul and the twins then treat the "indentured" students ruthlessly by overworking them, disregarding any and all complaints and threatening violence against them, and even roughing them up in their lounge where their customers can see and justifying it through their house rules. It gets to the point that Yuu puts their claim on Ramshackle Dorm on the line to free not just their friends but all the students under Azul's thumb, and had Yuu actually lose Azul would have enslaved them as well.
  • Sleep Cute: In Chapter 6, while talking about his dreams and plans for the future, Azul is overcome by exhaustion and unwittingly falls asleep against Riddle's shoulder.
Riddle, whispering softly: Didn't you say that an octopus wouldn't fall asleep in this situation?
  • Squishy Wizard: Azul might have amazing intellect and magical skill; his physical stats, however, are terrible. Even more so than Riddle. His P.E. Uniform personal story mentions that he only just got used to walking on land over the past year. In fact, one of the motivating factors for him in the Happy Beans Day event is to save his P.E. grade.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Happy Beans Day 2021 has Floyd telling others that yes, while Azul is bad at Physical education on land and could be slow, Floyd mentions that Azul still had the strong grip strength he has as an octopus so he could crush wood if he wanted to. However, as the people he's telling this about (Vil, Epel and Riddle) have known him as a Squishy Wizard longer, they find it harder to believe.
  • Talented, but Trained: While he's considered an honor student, he's worked hard since childhood to study and develop his magic, wanting to erase his past as a bullied octopus.
  • The Rival: Endless Halloween Night heartwarmingly reveals that Riddle views him as this, especially among the second-year dorm leaders.
  • Unscaled Merfolk: His true form is octopus-based.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After Leona turns his contract hoard into sand, he pulls this out of sheer frustration, growing mad and claiming that he'll steal everyone's powers. This is what eventually triggers his Overblot.
  • Yakuza: His design seems to draw inspiration from this.

    Jade Leech
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/octavinelle_chara_jade_detail_a.png
Voiced by: Wataru Komada, Kanade Koshino (child)
Twisted from: Jetsam
Grade: Second year

The vice dorm leader of Octavinelle and Floyd's twin brother. He is a polite gentleman, unlike his twin.

  • Always Identical Twins: He and Floyd are mirror images of each other and can be told apart by the colour and shape of their eyes and the direction of their skunk stripe.
  • Animal Motifs: Moray eels. Certain dialogues and personal stories mention that he and Floyd are not actually human, but moray eel mermen in human disguise. In Chapter 3 this is confirmed; both Jade and Floyd's true forms are part-human, part moray-eel.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Subverted In-Universe. Trey initially believes that Jade is taken for granted and overworked by Azul and Floyd, and expresses his sympathetic concern to Riddle, who, as Jade's classmate, is utterly flabbergasted. Riddle wastes no time informing Trey that Jade is just as unsavory as the other two and is in fact the most manipulative of the trio, and that it's far more likely that Jade's taking advantage of them than the other way round. While still dubious at first, Trey is then shocked to overhear Jade taking the lead in a discussion with Azul and Floyd on how best to manipulate the new Octavinelle residents.
  • Co-Dragons: Splits the role of Azul's right-hand man with his brother.
  • Crocodile Tears: Immediately starts crying when Idia accuses him of making an insincere wish in the starsending event. Even though he's obviously faking, Ortho falls for it and demands Idia apologize for bullying a younger student.
    • In one personal story it's believed Jade was doing this when Jack accidentally wrecked his garden in order to guilt Jack into working a day at Mostro Lounge. Considering it was a mushroom garden and Jade's fascination with them, the tears actually might have been genuine.
  • Demonic Possession: During the second Halloween event, Endless Halloween Night. Jade is one of the many students kidnapped and taken over by ghosts. His ghost in particular makes him act eerily similar to Floyd.
  • Dissonant Serenity: When chiding Kalim for blaming himself for Jamil's betrayal, he cheerfully describes the brutal ways he would punish someone who similarly wronged him, all while wearing his usual serene smile.
  • The Dreaded: Due to their enigmatic nature and imposing height, the twins are often deemed this by many students.
  • Expy: He shares quite a few traits with Sebastian of Black Butler, which hasn't gone unnoticed by fans.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Played with. While initial character profiles and in-game introductions establish Jade as calm and mature and Floyd as a Brilliant, but Lazy hedonist, it soon becomes clear that Jade enjoys chaos and their 'terrible twins' shtick as much as Floyd does, and he indulges much of Floyd's behavior due to wanting his happiness more than anything.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: A villainous version. When dealing with clients trying to renege on their contracts, Jade is happy to explain the fine print to them in minute detail until they've run out of arguments, all while Floyd is menacing them and threatening violence until they agree to uphold their end of the bargain.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • While Jade seems to be far more mature than Floyd, Jade actually enjoys mayhem. Especially if it amuses him. In fact, his main dislike as listed in his profile is "pre-established harmony".
    • Additionally, Jade has also shown interest in the flora and fauna he sees while hiking in the mountains, as indicated by the fact that he maintains terrariums as his hobby and is also a founder of the mountain appreciation club.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Fulfills this role for Azul as the vice dorm leader and secretary.
  • Hypocrite: Jade frequently pokes fun at Azul for being terrible at flying, but in all actuality, he's just as bad as him. His flying lesson voice lines are a gold mine of funny content.
Jade: I feel like I will be airsick...
Jade: He's asking fish to fly?
Jade: [voice shaky from the fear] A-at least I'm better than Azul, right?
  • In-Series Nickname: Rook calls him "Monsieur Mastermind".
  • It Amused Me: He and Floyd are friends with Azul because they find him interesting, and they won't hesitate to drop him if he ever loses their interest.
    • This behavior comes on in full force during his Culinary Crucible event, where he serves a dish containing (mildly) poisonous mushrooms and eggs on Lilia's Lethal Chef tendencies.
  • Noodle Incident: According to his Birthday Suit SSR personal story, he and Floyd were challenged by a sturgeon in elementary school. We don't know how it went, but it resulted in the both of them getting the sturgeon's scales which became the earrings they wear today.
  • Only Friend: He and Floyd were the only friends that Azul made during his childhood.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Described as the polar opposite of Floyd, down to both their demeanours and general preferences. Best illustrated by their shared room, where while Jade's side of the room is tidy and has his terraria on the shelf, Floyd's side is messy with an unmade bed and a shelf full of snacks.
  • Scary Teeth: He has them, but doesn't show them as often as his brother.
  • Selfless Wish: Uses his wishing star in the Wish Upon A Star event to allow both Azul and Floyd’s wishes to come true since he cannot think of a wish for himself.
  • Servile Snarker: While he's more obedient to Azul than Floyd is, he's much more likely to take jabs at him.
Jade: Azul, your grades in potions are top-level, but it's faster to count from the bottom for your ranking in flying.
  • Shared Unusual Trait: Both Leech brothers have heterochromia—Jade's right eye is darker, while his brother's left eye is darker.
  • Slasher Smile: He doesn't show off his sharp teeth as often as his brother, but when he does, he will pull this off once in a while. It's just as unnerving as it sounds.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Out of the three Jade is the most outwardly gentlemanly and polite, but that doesn't hinder the fact that he revels in enjoyment of witnessing suffering of others. Especially if he's the one to cause it.
  • Stealth Insult: To the ghost bride Eliza, to whom he romantically presents a bouquet of pretty flowers while saying that they remind him of her… at which point Floyd loudly points out that the flowers are extremely poisonous and that Jade simply wants to foist them on her because he can't grow them in his terrarium (which Jade happily admits to be the case), implying that Jade sees Eliza as someone he is repulsed by. Eliza is understandably offended and proceeds to slap him.
  • Theme Twin Naming: Subtle variant; both twins are named after colors. In Jade's case, his name refers to a precious gemstone's signature shade of green.
  • Token Good Teammate: Averted Trope: He wants to be seen as the most morally upright of the Octavinelle dorm residents but he's really as slimy as the other two.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Octopus carpaccio.
  • Truth Serums: What his unique magic essentially is. "Shock the Heart" is capable of forcefully making people spit out the truth behind their lies and actions. However, as revealed in Chapter 4, it can only work once on a given individual, and said individual can pull a No-Sell with enough magical resistance. It also doesn't work too well on individuals who are easily distrustful of others in general, like Azul.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Emphasizing his cool and reliable image, as well as his calculating nature hidden beneath.
  • Twin Desynch: Despite always being together sometimes and being twins, they are both their own individuals with their own interests. Floyd's Stitch collaboration card Personal story vignette, he says that he and Jade prefer to do separate things or else they'd fight and actually kill each other unless they are stopped.
  • Unscaled Merfolk: His true form is moray eel-based.

    Floyd Leech
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/octavinelle_chara_floyd_detail_a.png
Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto, Aina Takeda (child), Hayato Fujii (deep voice)
Twisted from: Flotsam
Grade: Second year

Jade's twin brother, said to be his opposite in every way. Unlike his calmer brother, Floyd tends to do things on impulse.

  • All Drummers Are Animals: Played the drums in middle school, and is certainly one of the most volatile characters in the game.
  • Allergic to Routine: He states numerous times that he only likes to do things if they're fun or interesting, and the moment he finds them repetitive or boring he ditches them at the drop of a hat.
  • Always Identical Twins: He and Jade are mirror images of each other and can be told apart by the color and shape of their eyes and the direction of their skunk stripe.
  • Animal Motifs: Moray eels. Certain dialogues and personal stories mention that he and Floyd are not actually human, but moray eel mermen in human disguise. In Chapter 3 this is confirmed; both Jade and Floyd's true forms are part-human, part-moray eel.
  • Anti-Magic: His unique magic, "Bind the Heart", interferes with his targets' spellcasting accuracy so that no magic will be able to land. The successful casting of his unique magic, however, relies on whatever mood he happens to be in at the time.
  • Berserk Button: Being compared to Jade. While he also dislikes being told what to do, Riddle comparing him to Jade sets him off quite quickly.
  • Birds of a Feather: In "Lost in the Book with Stitch", he was quick to warm up and get along with Stitch himself and can understand the alien. He's also one of the first to vouch and keep Stitch to tag along with the group followed by Lilia.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Can execute high-level magic, play sports and instruments brilliantly and has no trouble getting full scores on tests, but will also slack off and turn in blank papers on a whim. According to Jade, Floyd is a “temperamental genius”.
  • Butt-Monkey: The 'go-to guy' for Octavinelle-related slapstick.
  • Chain of Deals: In his SSR card story, Azul sends him out to bargain with Sam for the rights to Sam's popular mystery drink. Sam refuses and Floyd doesn't care enough to press the issue, purchasing sweets instead. Through a series of impulse trades with his fellow second-years, his candy becomes an exceedingly rare and valuable stone, which Sam is more than happy to trade the rights to his drink for. And at the end of it, all Floyd cares about is that he didn't get to eat his candy.
  • Chubby Chaser: In one of his few moments of inclination towards a physical preference in another person, Floyd laments Ursula's change from a voluptious octopus to her petite Vanessa body in several voice lines. Likewise, he compares things that he thinks are cute to Ursula.
Floyd: Lookit these socks. They got an octopus pattern on 'em! Just as cute as the Sea Witch herself, right?
  • Co-Dragons: Splits the role of Azul’s right-hand man (or left-hand man, as it were) with his brother.
  • Does Not Like Spam: His least favorite food is shiitake mushrooms. While not to the same extent, he and Azul also both grow sick of mushrooms in general after Jade develops an obsession with cultivating them.
  • The Dreaded: Due to their enigmatic nature and imposing height, the twins are often deemed this by many students.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Played with. While initial character profiles and in-game introductions establish Jade as calm and mature and Floyd as a Brilliant, but Lazy hedonist, it soon becomes clear that Jade enjoys chaos and their 'terrible twins' shtick as much as Floyd does, and he indulges much of Floyd's behavior due to wanting his twin's happiness more than anything.
  • Friend to All Children: Is shown to be good with kids in the Halloween event, much to the surprise of the other characters.
  • The Gadfly: He enjoys angering Riddle in particular, teasing him about his height and how red his face gets when he's mad just to see said red face.
Floyd: You really do like your troublesome explanations, don’t you~ It’d be faster if we just broke their bones.
  • Horrifying the Horror: His group's chapter three of the Halloween event Endless Halloween Night opens with Floyd bullying a pack of terrified ghosts for their mirror shards, in full-on mobster mode. Rather than being attacked by ghosts like the other groups, Leona's main concern becomes not being able to get more mirror shards from the ghosts because Floyd scared them all away.
  • Human Resources: As the bodies of merfolk contain a natural moisturizing agent, Azul uses slime harvested from Floyd in his eel form to create an extremely effective toner for Vil as part of a lucrative deal. Since the extraction process consists of simply wringing Floyd out like a towel, he's very sore (in more ways than one) about Azul's plans to make more, although Azul agrees to decide the next 'source' among the trio via coin toss.
  • In-Series Nickname: Rook calls him "Monsieur Gleeful Criminal" note.
  • It Amused Me:
    • He and Jade are friends with Azul because they find him interesting, and they won't hesitate to drop him if he ever loses their interest.
    • Floyd's Bean SSR personal story shed some more light to this. He is only doing what he did, even in some of his whims, because he simply wants to have fun while doing it. No matter how tedious process is, as long as it's fun to him, it's all dandy. This also goes into how he views fights. As he tells Epel, it doesn't matter if he wins or lose, all he cares about is having fun. However, his brand of fun can also depend on his whims. Ranging from buying cool clothing to chasing after people to fight with them.
  • Mood-Swinger: Floyd is usually all smiles (and what a terrifying smile it can be), but he can become sulky and listless at the drop of a hat and bounce back just as abruptly. Jade explains that the successful casting of Floyd's unique magic and even the taste of his cooking depend on his mood.
  • The Nicknamer: Gives most of the cast fish- and sea-related nicknames, e.g. "Shrimp" (Yuu), "Goldfish" (Riddle) and "Sea Otter" (Kalim). Notably, Jade and Azul are the only characters without a Floyd-given nickname, possibly due to either already being from the sea or their shared history together.
  • Only Friend: He and Jade were the only friends that Azul made during childhood.
  • Photographic Memory: Floyd has the ability to perfectly recall anything he's seen or read, as revealed in his Adventure Gear SR personal story when he recites a textbook entry on a poisonous mushroom, to the shock of Jamil and the other basketball club members. However, if he's not interested in the subject matter, he'll quickly forget it completely. Jamil is secretly relieved that Floyd's so whimsical, since otherwise this ability would put Octavinelle ahead of Scarabia in studies.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Described as the polar opposite of Jade, down to both their demeanor and general preferences. Best illustrated by their shared room, where while Jade's side of the room is tidy and has his terraria on the shelf, Floyd's side is messy with an unmade bed and a shelf full of snacks.
  • Scary Teeth: He has very pointy teeth.
  • Shared Unusual Trait: Both Leech brothers have heterochromia—Floyd's left eye is darker, while his brother's right eye is darker.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: In "Lost in the Book with Stitch", he and Lilia are both in the same wavelength and wanted to have fun with their time in the unknown inhabited island, to the rest of the group's horror.
  • Supreme Chef: Floyd turns out to be an excellent chef - he's the one who comes up with the Monstro Lounge menu. However, his cooking is also subject to his mood and sometimes he'll just put out a can of food and call it a day if he's not feeling it.
  • Sweet Tooth: According to his Birthday Suit SSR personal story, he loves eating any kind of sweets. He also enjoys eating the chewy textures more than certain flavors. There a rumor that he hides has a stash of sweets in his room.
  • Tareme Eyes: Emphasizing his laid-back attitude, and when he's in a mood, his violent nature as well.
  • Theme Twin Naming: Subtle variant; both twins are named after colors. In Floyd's case, his name is Welsh for 'gray' or 'gray-haired'.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: His profile mentions his favorite food to be takoyaki.
  • Trash of the Titans: In contrast to Jade's side of their shared dorm room, Floyd's side of their room is messy and relatively disorganized. This is ultimately downplayed as Floyd's room isn't as messy as Lilia's own room, however.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Has a pretty high-pitched voice for such a big guy, and tends to sound very cheerful and breathy, although he occasionally sounds more serious.
  • You Didn't Ask: In the "Tsumderland" event, Floyd's tsum has a tendency to violently grip anyone that interacts with it, including Azul. Azul demands to know why Floyd didn't warn him, and this is Floyd's response.
  • Why Are You Looking at Me Like That?: In Azul's Ceremonial Robes SR personal story, Floyd does this when Azul & Jade are discussing how to create Vil's requested beauty product and suspiciously turn to look at him as they finished.
    • Cue Floyd being wrung out like a dirty rag just so they could get the secret ingredient for said beauty product. Not that Vil would ever know.
