    Yulion

Yulion Shalathas Saesan

Class: Hunter

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yul_small.jpg
Ages finer than the wine his family makes.
"For your noble actions I will spare your life this day. Next time you may not be so lucky."
The founder, leader, and namesake of the clan. Current patriarch of the Winewood family in Silvermoon.
  • A Father to His Men: Which makes sense; the entire clan (sans Ven and possibly Kat) is of the Winewood bloodline. He might not be their father, but he is their ancestor.
  • Arch-Enemy: Yulion came to Quel'thalas having already faced down trolls in war in his home land, so he remains distrustful of them — even the Darkspear.
  • Attention Whore: Mildly. Having been a performer in the past he loves being in the limelight.
  • Family Business: The Winewood Winery has been in the family for thousands of years — in some way or another.
  • Fantastic Racism: Towards humans and trolls in particular. He's much more welcoming of Tauren, Pandaren, and Gnomes. But, of course, all are inferior to elves.
  • Forest Ranger: A Ranger Lord of the Farstriders.
  • Friendship Trinket: Yulion's jointed rings were all made by Jaelas. Though he has many other pieces that are more powerful he prefers these.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Struck down noted historian and scholar Belyndrel Artamir in a duel to the death for the safety of his people.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With Jaelas Artamir before he passed. Yulion is many thousands of years old, and Jaelas was... not quite as old.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: After the horrors he has seen his people go through, he will go to any lengths to defend his people and his home.
  • Officer and a Gentleman: Yulion is a Ranger Lord of the Farstriders and meticulous about how he carries himself at any moment.
  • Rousing Speech: Is a fan of dishing these out to the clan. Gives a particularly uplifting one when encouraging his men before the Siege of Orgrimmar.
  • Secret-Keeper: Yulion is the only blood elf left alive that knows of Belyndrel Artamir's attempted betrayal of Silvermoon. Per his promise to Jaelas he keeps this from the Artamir children.
  • Sommelier Speak: Which usually ends in "trust me, it's good." Much to Yulion's chagrin.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Since he was a child and, despite living through the exile of the Highborne and the corruption of the Sunwell, this hasn't changed.
  • The Beastmaster: Doesn't believe in keeping pets but he is skilled enough to tame elementals.
  • The Leader: Of the clan.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Speaks highly of Sylvanas to this day, but is careful to acknowledge her change and how vehemently against her actions he is.
  • Wine Is Classy: But he does occasionally partake in ale or a particularly well-made brew. Hailing from a family of winemakers he has a bit of a bias.
  • You Are a Credit to Your Race: Dishes this out sometimes with Fin'toch. He genuinely means it as a compliment, though, so Fin'toch usually lets it slide.

    Vendelia

Vendelia Artamir Wrynn

Class: Warlock

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ven_small.jpg
She likes adventuring, jewels, cute animals, and powerful men.
"Call it weakness if you want. I don't have to waste my energy."
Artamir jewels are coveted throughout all of Azeroth but many say that the family's youngest daughter, Vendelia, is the most beautiful one of all.

Born and raised in Silvermoon, Vendelia is the youngest and only biological daughter of renowned jewelcrafter Jaelas Artamir. She begins adventuring with the Horde at a young age and her first big mission takes her to Pandaria. It's there that she proves herself and is celebrated as a Champion upon her party's return to Orgrimmar.

She eventually marries Anduin Wrynn, King of Stormwind and High King of the Alliance, and she and her siblings move in to Stormwind Keep shortly after the events of Battle for Azeroth.

  • Battle Ballgown: A staple of her wardrobe.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: None of the Artamir siblings are particularly ugly but Vendelia has her nickname for a reason.
  • Betty and Veronica: Vendelia's love interests. Personality-wise, Anduin would be the safe and reliable Betty while Vol'jin would be the exotic and dangerous Veronica. Alternatively, Vol'jin could be the "love interest next door," the one in the Horde with Vendelia — the Betty. Anduin, being of the opposing and enemy faction, could be considered the Veronica.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She may be the youngest of the Artamir siblings but one need only ask Gul'tar's severed head what happens when someone lays a finger on Fin'toch or Thas'alah.
  • Carry a Big Stick: She always has a weapon on her, usually a staff but sometimes a wand, and she always wields it during battle. She never actually uses it, though; hers are, more often than not, trinkets to distract the enemy from estimating her real power.
  • Conspicuous Gloves: Another staple, to hide her discolored hands.
  • Cope by Creating: She initially picked up jewelcrafting to take her mind off of her military duty.
  • The Corruption: Her hands started turning gray after she began her training as a Warlock; between her constant use of it for spells and her lack of a sufficient amount to sate her addiction she has to be careful with her use of fel magic, lest she turn into one of the Wretched. By the time she begins adventuring in Pandaria the discoloration has crept past her wrists.
  • Crystal Weapon: Whether it's a staff or a wand, she tends to favor any weapon with a giant, obvious gem on the top.
  • Death of the Hypotenuse: Vendelia may have chosen Anduin in the long run, but Vol'jin's passing definitely helped speed things along.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Both of Ven's parents have passed by the time she begins adventuring.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: She's been known to have a female admirer or two.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Is a recurring character in a number of other's fantasies, Rinling enjoying this type in particular.
  • Glamour: A mild one, granted by her sage agate earrings. Used unconsciously until the sorcerer Ich'taka revealed their magic to her. Word of God calls it "a constant Instagram filter."
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: It makes up a good amount of her wardrobe before her adventuring days with the Horde, and even for a little while after. She ditches it as an accent color completely in favor of the more traditional red after Vol'jin dies.
  • Hairstyle Inertia: Sports the same hairstyle from Mists of Pandaria aaaaaall the way to Shadowlands.
  • Hammy Herald: During a cutscene. She is very proud of her new Warchief and lets the whole of Orgrimmar know exactly once before Vol'jin tells her to stop.
  • Has a Type: Tends to favor the smart and kind over the strong and ruthless when it comes to men.
  • High-Class Gloves: Which, if you read her in-game diary, require near constant switching out due to damage.
  • Honey Trap: Utilizes this from time to time after taking control of her glamour.
  • Hot Consort: Queen consort of Stormwind after her coronation. No real power to rule but no one questions her reputation as a looker.
    • Ruling Couple: That's not to say that Anduin doesn't listen if she has something to say - she was a champion and general of the Horde for a reason. But the final decision always rests with him.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Amaliir saying that her brother would never be safe while he's alive made the decision to kill him much easier, but no less painful.
  • Impossible Hourglass Figure: Not cartoonish, but it's a noted trait of hers. Though how much of it is due to the glamour is up for debate.
  • In-Series Nickname: The Artamir Jewel.
  • It Runs in the Family: The Artamirs seem to have a knack for jewelcrafting. The Runesongs seem to have a thing for trolls.
  • It's Personal: Vendelia liberated the Echo Isles from Garrosh's hold because she cares about the Darkspear trolls and wanted to help. She tortured the Kor'kron and decapitated Gul'tar the Subjugator because her brother was among their prisoners.
  • I Was Quite a Fashion Victim: After her honeymoon in Pandaria, she returns in an updated version of the outfit that she wore in Pandaria. If you talk to her she admits that she has learned a lot about style since then.
Vendelia: My gloves didn't even match the rest of my outfit! What was I thinking?
  • Jeweler's Eye Loupe: She's often seen with a monocle that functions this way.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Good luck catching her in anything other than an elegant gown and gloves.
  • Lady of Black Magic: She tries to be this while young, but really grows into it when she's older.
  • Living Aphrodisiac: When consciously invoked, her Glamour turns her into this.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: Once the marriage between Anduin and Vendelia became public reactions tended to... vary.
  • Mascots Love Sugar: Her wretched servant, Drogwed, has a massive sweet tooth.
  • Missing Mom: Vendelia's mother, Belyndrel, died when she was born. Ven finally meets her in the Shadowlands.
  • Mother Nature, Father Science: Played with for her mother (archaeologist, scholar) and her father (jewelcrafter). Played straight with her (jewelcrafter) and Fin'toch (hunter, scholar).
  • No Eye in Magic: Utilized unknowingly before learning of the glamour granted by her earrings and deliberately after.
  • Number Two: Stationed primarily at Grommash Hold for the summer following her return from Pandaria, serving as this to Vol'jin.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Before many meet her they already know her as The Artamir Jewel. And, on the island of Zandalar, "Beloved."
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: To the point where Vol'jin shoves her behind a desk for the summer following her return from Pandaria after learning about how she liberated the Echo Isles from the Kor'kron.
  • Pimped-Out Cape: Sports a few of these, rising in complexity and sheer amount of embedded gemstones as she grows older.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: See above.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: Changes her hairstyle to this after returning from the Shadowlands. It's styled exactly like her mother's.
  • Ring of Power: A staple of the Artamir line of jewelry, and a favorite accessory of Ven's.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Tends to dance like a male troll when without a partner.
  • Siblings in Crime: Ven had the help of her brother, Fin'toch, when she killed her childhood friend Amaliir Dawnlight.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She gets her hair color from her father and her eye color from the Sunwell before it's purified.
  • Sitting on the Roof: The roof of Stormwind Keep is outside the viewpoint of the guards. It's a favorite spot of Vendelia's when she wants to visit Stormwind safely.
  • Squishy Wizard: Immensely powerful magic cast by an incredibly powerful warlock who's rendered completely helpless by a good knock on the head.
  • Sworn Brothers: With Vol'jin, via their Blood Oath.
  • This Means War!: "I'll do it."
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Loves exploring places she shouldn't be in, doing things she shouldn't do, and encouraging a certain young prince to do the same.
  • Turncoat: Though able to be called upon by certain individuals in the Horde she does effectively defect to the Alliance shortly into her pregnancy.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Until Amaliir tried to kill her brother.

    Kathedriel

Kathedriel

short quip about the character
"I sold my eye for fel."
Textbook Antihero.

    Honorary Members

Fin'toch Artamir

Class: Hunter

"Bala'dash, Yulion! Doral ana'diel?"
Vendelia's adopted troll brother. Middle child and only son.
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Due to the small amounts Belyndrel was feeding him as a baby.
  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: Very empathetic with his raptors who are empathetic right back.
  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: In-universe. Jaelas and Belyndrel weren't sure Fin'toch was a proper Darkspear name when they named the boy, but Gul'rah had no objections to it.
  • Badass Bookworm: Always got good grades, clearly very intelligent, and enjoys doing research into history and social structures among other subjects. He's also a highly skilled archer and hunter, having been trained in both Farstrider and Darkspear hunting techniques.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: None of the Artamir siblings are stupid but Fin'toch is undeniably the brains of the bunch.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Fulfills this role for both of his sisters, despite being the middle child, and even if they don't often need it.
  • Bigotry Exception: To Yulion especially. To the rest of Silvermoon? Not so much.
  • Child Prodigy: Fin'toch's mother was a scholar and he quickly followed suit, intelligent beyond his years from a very young age.
  • Eloquent in My Native Tongue: Fin'toch knows Zandali, but he grew up speaking Thalassian. As a result his pronunciation and tone leave much to be desired.
  • Happily Adopted: One of the few places he wasn't mercilessly bullied as a child was at home, where he and his culture were made an equal part of the family.
  • Momma's Boy: Fin'toch was very close to his mother while she was alive. He even resented Vendelia for a time after she was born because their mother died during the delivery. Or so they think.
  • Monster Brother, Cutie Sister: Generally with Vendelia, but this could apply to Thas'alah as well.
  • Parental Favoritism: Often thought himself to be the favorite of his mother's children. It turns out that he was secretly being groomed to take part in his mother's plan to overthrow Silvermoon.
  • Shared Family Quirks: The source. He learned how to dance on the Echo Isles and taught his sisters the same.
  • Smarter Than You Look: The people of Silvermoon don't have a lot of faith in Fin'toch until they hear him speak.

Thas'alah Artamir

Class: Druid

"..."
Vendelia's adopted night elf sister. Eldest child.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: None of the Artamir siblings are particularly weak but Thas'alah is the only one of the siblings that can carry both of the other two at the same time.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Much more subtly than her brother or sister and much more focused on preservation than defense or revenge. Nevertheless she is a force to be reckoned with if anything happens to her siblings.
  • Cool Big Sis: Mature, collected, and stoic, she was often the peacemaker for the other two siblings growing up and continues to be a balance between them and anyone outside the family.
  • Druid: Shockingly.
  • Friend to All Living Things: She's an avid plant enthusiast, loves animals, and often volunteers to take her sibling's pets to Teldrassil if they have things to do.
  • Happily Adopted: One of the few places she wasn't mercilessly bullied as a child was at home, where she and her culture were made an equal part of the family.
  • Hereditary Curse: Affected by and eventually breaks the curse of exile placed on her grandparents by Azshara.
  • Named After Something Famous: She was named after the former mother tree of the Eversong Forest.
  • Raised by Orcs: How many Night Elves see Thas'alah.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Tends to dance like a male troll when without a partner.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Before her curse is lifted, Thas'alah can only speak to animals. She retains this skill into adulthood.
  • The Comically Serious: Fin's the smart one of the siblings but Thas'alah definitely has the sharpest tongue and the quickest wit, and constantly delivers with a stone cold expression.
  • The Medic: Primarily a healer, though her attacks do pack a punch.
  • The Speechless: As a result of her Hereditary Curse she cannot speak to anybody but the animals in the forest. She spent much of her life — including her time growing up in Silvermoon — unable to utter a single word.
