Friendship Club

    In General

A guild of three high-achieving students at St. Theresa's Academy for Girls.

  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • They're responsible for welcoming transfer student Aoi in The Woodland Loner and the Saintly School Lycéennes.
    • They take center stage again The Angelic Foundation and the Saintly School Lycéennes, where they have to present funding pitches and gain approval from the Mercurius Foundation.
    • Again for a third time in The Saint of Steel and the Saintly School Lycéenne's where their school holds a Sport's Festival.
    • And another in the fourth event "Midwinter Summer and the Saintly School Lycéennes" where they help the Mercurius Foundation create a promotional video for their new resort.
  • All the Other Reindeer: The trio have definitely build up a reputation as a bunch of troublemakers.
  • Breakout Character: All three of them are some of the most popular characters in the game and they got four events focusing on them.
  • Gratuitous French: The Global version's event titles have the word "lycéennes" in them, which is French for "high school girls" or just "schoolgirls". The fancy name says everything about the fact that they're schoolgirls attending a high-class school.
  • Lampshade Hanging: As fairly recent characters added to the game when they joined, and that they're observant girls but fairly removed from incidents in Landosol, the three often remark a lot on whatever quirks Yuuki and the girls around him have. This includes Yuuki having a lot friends who are mostly girls (especially to a stalking Chieru's chagrin in her bond episodes), Chloe remarking on the dagger-licking NPC's sprite, and so on.
  • Made Out to Be a Jerkass: A reoccurring problem the Friendship Club face is that they are always accused for whatever disaster that has happened. Granted, the Friendship Club are quite prickly but never have their actions be borderline malicious.
  • Perpetual Poverty: All three, despite their scholarships, are often struggling with money; Yuni's genius has earned her a budget from the school but she'd like more, especially when the school has become wise to her non-project spending, and Chloe has many siblings to take care of and resorts to taking up part-time jobs that she keeps secret from her school. Chieru doesn't have particular problems, but she'd still like more given her commoner background.

    Yuni

Yuni [Shingyouji]

"Yo, sorry for the wait, comrades. It's your guild master Yuni."

  • Character Catchphrase: Has an incredible number of weird catchphrases unique to her, all part of her strange manner of speaking. Some examples include concluding all her long and complicated Spock Speak explanations with "to put it in simpler terms" and greeting her friends with "yo, sorry for the wait, comrades".
  • Freudian Slip: Due to how much she pretends to be a child and play with the children in the Sarendia Orphanage, she often slips and calls Saren "Mama Saren".
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Invents a number of extremely advanced magical gadgets in her free time. She is often accompanied by a magical golem named "Rosetta" that carries a number of smart speaker-like functions and shares her voice, and also creates a magical helicopter drone called the "Pika Pika Yunicopter".
  • Informed Loner: Seemingly played straight at first when Yuni introduces herself as a loner with No Social Skills despite being the leader of the Friendship Club and having little issue holding conversation with a social butterfly like Chieru. However, it's then revealed that she really did have no friends before befriending Chloe, Chieru, and Yuuki. Furthermore, in That World, her eccentric, boisterous personality is nowhere to be seen, and she is a genuine Shrinking Violet who can barely strike up a conversation, whose only friend was her classmate Shizuru before she met Yuuki.
  • Insistent Terminology: She's very persistent in referring to the Friendship Club as the "Yuni-chans" ("Yuni-ettes" in Global). These are then usually followed by Chieru repeating Yuni's sentence but firmly replacing the Yuni-ettes with "the Friendship Club", or Chloe expressing her dislike of the name.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: An academic prodigy with few friends, especially in That World.
  • Older Than They Look: In That World, she's in the same class as Shizuru, making her older than the protagonist. The dates of their birthdays also imply that Yuni is older than Shizuru herself. By looks alone, she could easily be mistaken as being too young for high school, something she exploits to pass herself off as an eight year old while hanging out with Little Lyrical.
  • Ornamental Weapon: In battle, she lugs around an absolutely enormous halberd shaped like a pen on her back, purely for show as she is a magic character and all her skills involve casting spells from a spellbook. In her Union Burst, she actually grabs the halberd and begins to swing it, only to unceremoniously drop it on the ground to cast more spells from her spellbook.
  • Running Gag: In That World, she is the unfortunate subject of a running joke where she attempts to invite Yuuki out on a date while drinking coffee with him at the cafe, only to be abruptly denied every time.
  • The Smart Girl: Despite their reputations as a Brainless Beauty and Delinquent respectively, Chieru and Chloe are actually both excellent students with peerless grades. However, Yuni stands heads and shoulders above even them, being so astoundingly smart the school allows her to do more or less whatever she pleases, as she can run circles around the teachers in any academic subject. She opts to use her freedom to bury herself in even more advanced studies, and can be often spotted among stacks of books in the library.

    Chloe

Chloe / [Hanako Kuroe]

In That World
"Huh? What's with that look? Are you looking for a fight?"
Voiced by: Atsumi Tanezaki
Starting Rarity: 3★ [Regular, School Festival]
Damage Type: Physical
Combat Position: Front
Race: Elvenfolk
Birthday: Aug 7 (Leo)
Age: 17
Height: 154 cm (5.1 ft)
Weight: 42 kg (92.6 lbs)
Blood Type: O
Hobbies: Darts

  • Ascended Meme: During the intro cutscene for The Angelic Foundation and the Saintly School Lyceennes, she mentions getting whisked away to fight "giant armor things that just won't die" and that she "saved the world and stuff", much to everyone's confusion. This is a reference to her being a popular character for players to use for The Final Battle of Landosol event, and comes back up as an Intimacy topic and option you can mention.
  • Cool Big Sis: A big sister to a dizzyingly large number of younger brothers, she's an old hand at handling younger children. Yuuki's childlike personality stirs her sisterly instinct and she begins seeing him as younger brother she needs to protect as well.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Being the club's usual Straight Man, combined with her often speaking in monotone, makes her this.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: A desperately poor high school girl, in dire need of money to support her ill mother, begins to take dangerous, under-the-table jobs in the shady part of town to earn some cash. However, a chance meeting with the the boy who goes on to become her love interest causes her to have a change of heart, and she realizes that the money isn't worth lying to her family about the kind of work she's taking... technically, the shady jobs she accepts range anywhere from bar bouncer to surreptitiously collecting black-market herbs from the elven forest, but the way which it's presented is extremely reminiscent of your stereotypical Compensated Dating Very Special Episode from Japanese television drama. Fans were quick to pick up on the implications and as a result, a lot of questionable fan art of Chloe features her doing actual Compensated Dating.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Whether their intentions are romantic is debatable, but there is actually a sizable contingent of St. Theresa girls who are absolutely fascinated by Chloe's image as a dangerous, yet irresistibly alluring delinquent, hilariously misinterpreting her everyday, mundane actions through these lens. Part of Chloe's character episodes involves befriending two of these girls, who stubbornly insist on romanticizing her exotic lower-class lifestyle even after learning she's actually rather nice under the scary exterior.
  • Face of a Thug: Her perpetual scowl is rather frightening, especially to her sheltered ojou classmates. It also poses a sizable issue to her work in the service industry, her managers constantly berating her for scaring customers away with her face.
  • The Fashionista: Contrary to first impressions, Chloe is actually very into street fashion. After she stops taking dangerous jobs, she can mostly be found working as a clerk in various clothing stores and really knows her way around them.
  • Fangirl: While she still speaks and acts in her usual subdued way, in The Angelic Foundation event, she highly approves of Mifuyu once she hears she's a Dragon Slayer and thinks of Yuuki being the Dragon Slayer's apprentice as "cool", which is rare praise coming from her.
  • Interclass Friendship: Despite being an extremely poor scholarship student, she becomes fast friends with Chieru and Yuni, who are part of the traditionally wealthy demographic that attend St. Theresa.
  • Last-Name Basis: Her in-game nickname is actually her last name from That World which just so happens to sound like the occidental name "Chloe".
  • Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: She's actually a pretty chill girl, yet is often mistaken as a delinquent at first glance, not helped her manner of speaking.
  • No Social Skills: Chloe has significant difficulty in properly interacting with people. Combined with her Face of a Thug and Deadpan Snarker tendencies, she is highly unapproachable. In the The Angelic Foundation and the Saintly School Lycéennes Event, while carrying out a shop practice trial, all the participants are emotionally hurt by her words.
  • Scholarship Student: Attends the extremely prestigious St. Theresa Academy despite her family living in extreme poverty, thanks to her excellent grades affording her a spot as a scholarship student. However, on top of her studies, she's also forced to take many part-time jobs to support her family, which are not allowed under school rules and put her scholarship status at risk if ever discovered. This arrangement holds true in That World as well, where she attends Ourindo Private High School on a scholarship, the same school Ojou Rei attends.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Despite being a girl herself, Chloe is prone to this. Her normal speaking voice is soft and relatively low pitch for a girl, but a running joke has her being surprised by Yuuki, leading her to let out various high-pitched screams. She always immediately chews out Yuuki for surprising her and making her, in her own words, "scream like a moe character."

    Chieru

Chieru [Kazami]

Combat Position: Front (Regular), Back (School Festival)
Race: Humanfolk
Birthday: Sep 15 (Virgo)
Age: 16
Height: 156 cm (5.1 ft)
Weight: 46 kg (101.4 lbs)
Blood Type: O
Hobbies: Dancing, karaoke

  • The Ace: Fashionable, sociable, and ridiculously popular with the opposite sex, with an impressive academic record to boot. However, what really elevates her into this trope is the fact that she is somehow also a ridiculously skilled Bare-Fisted Monk despite being a spoiled upper-class girl. When pressed by Yuni and Chloe during The Angelic Foundation event stage cutscenes for an explanation of her inexplicable martial talent, Chieru explains that she simply observed some strong people fighting and copied their moves, put her own cute spin on them and mashed it all together into her own Chieru-style martial arts. The inadequacy of this explanation and how casually Chieru masters difficult skills like this pisses Chloe off to no end.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Contrary to what one might expect from her overly cutesy image, Chieru fights with brass knuckles and also happens to be very handy with them.
  • Character Catchphrase: Peppers her speech liberally with the phrase "chieru~n". It often ends up getting mocked by characters accidentally confusing it with other people's catchphrases, such Hatsune's "kira~n" and Maho's "kururinpa~". Also occasionally busts out the mysterious "Chieru-ese", a language which consists entirely of various permutations of her own name.
  • Dumb Blonde: Gives off the air of one in That World, though her hair is obviously dyed and her apparent idiocy is actually Obfuscating Stupidity.
  • Fangirl: Of Carmina, especially Nozomi. It's to the point that in the Saint of Steel event where she goes up against her beloved idol, she stammers at the sight of her, shoots down any idea of competing to the point of saying an amateur like herself can't compare to someone who's serious—which says a lot coming from someone with pride in herself, reveals she comes to Carmina's meet-and-greets disguised differently every time, would rather watch from afar without being known, tries to deny when asked of being a fan nicknamed "Carmina's Incredible Samurai" who sent lots of fan letters, and shows 100% seriousness in stopping Yuni's cursed golem from ruining Nozomi's concert. Then at the last episode when Nozomi is finishing her concert, it's all but stated that she's the maniac at the end screaming her praises like she's near death.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: Yuuki's completely blasé reactions to her obvious attempts to charm him leave her flabbergasted, considering how every other boy she knows is complete putty in her hands. What confuses her even more is how nicely he treats her despite being romantically disinterested in her. After getting over her initial shock, she begins to find his attitude refreshing and falls deeply in love with him as a result.
  • Kawaiiko: Puts up a sickeningly sweet and obviously fake cutesy act in everyday life, which boys nonetheless fall for and girls find endlessly grating. Her school uniform is adorned with pastel ribbons and she often refers to herself in third-person uses her own name as a catchphrase.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Despite being obnoxiously loud and proud about being the cutest and most popular girl in the school, Chieru really is fiercely loyal to her friends when it comes down to it, even if she does enjoy teasing them on a regular basis. She's also one of the first to try to aggressively befriend Shrinking Violet Aoi when she transfers to their school.
  • Matchmaker Crush: Chieru went after Yuuki initially to pair him up with one of her classmates who had a crush on him. She didn't expect that she would fall for him too. She was completely ecstatic that the classmate gave up on Yuuki.
  • Narcissist: Cheiru is this to the point she created her own language system.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Puts up the persona of an airhead Brainless Beauty, something which makes her extremely popular with boys, but she is actually a rather clever and manipulative The Social Expert Beneath the Mask. However, around girls and Yuuki, she's nowhere near as diligent in keeping up the act and often drops it to play the role of a sharp-tongued Deadpan Snarker.
  • School Idol: The self-described cutest and most beloved girl in the world, she is extremely popular with boys and often consulted for love advice by her classmates.
  • Stalker with a Crush: After falling in love with Yuuki, she begins to obsessively follow him around. When a random shop owner points out her newfound stalker-like tendencies, she vehemently denies them, but at the same time it makes her too self-conscious to call out to Yuuki while observing him from the shadows, which only makes things worse. During her stalking escapades, she is none too pleased at just how many other girls Yuuki is on good terms with, girls who she begrudgingly admits are just as cute as her.

Alter Maiden (UNMARKED SPOILERS FOR THE SECOND ARC)

    In General

(From left to right)
Quria, Riri, and Presia
During Part II

A guild that wishes to go to a place called the "under-world," as well as find Presia's papa. For some reason, they all refer to Yuuki with different terms for "older brother."

  • The Atoner: Near the end of Part II, they attacked the various guilds of Landsol while under the control of Misora. Having been freed from said control by the time of Part III, they formed the Alter Maider guild in an attempt to make it up to the people they hurt.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Barring the Gourmet Guild and the major cast, everyone fears Alter Maiden who previously served the Big Bad of Arc 2, albeit against their will, and attacked Landosol. Thankfully, much of it dies down in Criminal Rookies: The Angels' Paradox after the trio stops Misora.
  • Me's a Crowd: They all share the same Union Burst, Shadow Split, which summons a copy of themselves not unlike Neneka.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: All three of them have a special skill that grants them the Flight Status in the begining of the battle. While in Flight, none of them take any damage from Ao E attacks.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Due to the group being a recently formed guild, the members lack experience. Thankfully, the Gourmet Guild and the other guilds are happy to teach them.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: Their hair changes colors whenever they transform.
  • Theme Naming: The names they were given while under mind control all come from Greek Mythology:
    • Riri is named after "Algea," the personification of pain.
    • Quria is named after "Lethe," the personification of oblivion.
    • Presia is named after "Dysnomia," the daemon of lawlessness.

    Riri

Riri [Tokugawa]

Height: 154 cm (5'1")
Weight: 44 kg (97 lbs)
Birthday: April 29
Age: 15
Blood Type: A
Race: Humanfolk
Hobbies: Flower arrangement, writing and reading classical Japanese literature, Japanese paintings

The serious and proper Guild Master of Alter Maiden, she refers to Yuuki as "Nii-sama."

  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Riri's well-endowed bust is met with envy from Presia.
  • Fanservice Pack: In the transition from Type-R to Riri, her appearance became much more mature, giving her a larger chest and a more exposing fallen angel outfit.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: Her consistent use of polite Japanese highlights her humble demeanor, as well as her status as an Ojou and Yamato Nadeshiko.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's the most buxom member of her guild, and her fallen angel outfit exposes the most skin. The character illustration for her Fallen state also shows her putting her scythe in her cleavage.
  • Mystical White Hair: While her guildmates simply change to a lighter shade of their original color upon transforming, Lily's black hair goes pure white.
  • Sinister Scythe: Her Fallen Form uses a giant black scythe in combat.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Her profile specifically refers to her as one, and she certainly has the long, dark hair commonly associated with the archetype.

    Quria

A young girl frequently likened to an "angel" or "saint," she refers to Yuuki as "Onii-san."

  • Affectionate Nickname: Riri calls her "Ria."
  • Expressive Hair: Clear's Idiot Hair seems to move depending on the mood she's in.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: She always uses polite Japanese in her speech, which emphasizes her refined demeanor.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's a young blonde girl whose nice demeanor is compared to that of a saint. The Flashbacks reveals that she used to be a nun.
  • Healing Hands: If the Flashbacks are real, Clear did possess real magic which she uses to heal Yuuki's hands and Lily's injuries from that car accident.
  • Parental Neglect: The Flashbacks indicate that Clear's parents are highly neglectful towards her and only reunite with her so that they can use her for monetary gain.
  • The Smart Guy: She serves as the brains of Alter Maiden.

A small girl with a big appetite, she refers to Yuuki as "Onii."

  • A-Cup Angst: She stares at Riri's chest while in Geo-Gehenna's hots springs and claims that it's "not fair" that it got big.
  • Big Eater: She's the first person since Azold to go toe-to-toe with Pecorine in an eating contest. This was clearly Foreshadowing her relation to him.
  • Connected All Along: She's Azold's daughter.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She normally uses a giant fork and knife as weapons, though she trades them out for a Magic Staff upon transforming.
  • Shared Family Quirks: She got her large appetite from her father Azold.
  • The Stoic: She doesn't talk much, and her unchanging expression makes her hard to get a read on.
  • Token Mini-Moe: She's the smallest and most child-like member of the guild.
