General

     General
  • And I Must Scream: All the living toys in the series were once humans (or animals, in Banzo's case) who Martin killed (sometimes quite brutally), and their bodies were then transformed into horrifying fleshy beings so they could be stuffed inside Martin's toys. They can never escape their predicament and are forced to live an existence of pain and suffering. On top of that, Martin held complete control over them and has forced some of them to kill for him. And to make matters even more horrific, some of Martin's victims are children, including his own…
  • Body Horror: There is a ton of it in this series. After Martin killed his victims, the demon removed their skins and forced their bodies into Martin's toys, which sometimes resulted in the bodies becoming horribly deformed (ex. Arthur, who basically became a blob of flesh with a wide, gaping mouth in order to fill the Ice Cream Man costume). There are moments where the skinned corpses of the victims are visible through holes and cracks in their plastic and wooden bodies. Some of the victims have even managed to "escape" their new bodies...
    • Sofia has a long grabber-like tongue that brings to mind the creatures of Alien.
    • The Puppeteer is a prime example of this trope, being a hulking mass of human flesh with sharp teeth and a deformed mouth. Its body is vaguely humanoid, but only just barely.
    • Some of the deaths in the series are also quite brutal. Amy Wilson, who had her spine ripped out, and Nathan Barnes, a young boy who was found with his head facing backwards, come to mind. Amy also heard a lullaby at the time of her demise that caused her skin to start melting....
    • Then there's the fact that Martin left the severed limbs and empty skins of his victims in his basement, something that is honestly horrible to try and imagine.
    • There's a brief scene in "THE_PERFECT_PET" where Banzo is seen lying on the ground with his stomach ripped open and his organs displayed....
  • Death of a Child: Thomas, Macy, and Ava are not the only children to die in this series. Two boys named Richard Smith and Nathan Barnes were killed in the Harmony Broadcast Incident. And it's unknown at this point how many of the eight missing victims were children, but at least some of them were. And then it gets even worse in Season 2...
  • Demonic Dummy: There are at least ten Henry dummies in this series who are possessed by people murdered by Martin. Martin's son, Thomas, is one of them. Amy Wilson, Martin's intern, also became a dummy after her gruesome death, as revealed in "THE_MIRACLE_CHILD". The identities of the remaining eight are unclear, but it's likely they're the victims of the "Eight Missing Persons" case first mentioned in "L0cal_13". Also, these dummies were given life via Satanic rituals, so they are quite literally "demonic".
  • Facial Horror: All over the place. Sometimes the toys look completely normal; other times, their human eyes and teeth are visible, adding a level of Squick.
    • The Ice Cream Man is one of the most grotesque-looking of the Greywhinders, as his eyes are literally drooping out of his sockets. A crack in his face has also left his mouth horribly deformed.
    • Sofia's eyeballs have sunken into the lower corners of her eye sockets, giving her face a whole new level of creepiness.
    • While Gloria escaped the fate of becoming a toy, her spirit form has a wide-open, stretched-out mouth that has haunted many a nightmare.
    • Probably the most memorable moment of this trope in the series was in the Christmas Special "My Two Front Teeth", as Sofia's face after her jaw was ripped off is not one that is easy to forget...
  • Foolish Husband, Responsible Wife: Subverted, while Martin is a domestic abuser to his children, not to mention him turning them into literal toys, and Gloria is more responsible and caring for the children and argues with Martin where Thomas' whereabouts are, we find out that Martin's children aren't of his blood. Instead, they're from his brother, Arthur, although whether or not she did this to provide children to Martin as a sign of love and/or didn't wanted an affair with Arthur, or she likes Arthur more is unclear.
  • Nightmare Face: Battington is often praised for his ability to create genuinely disturbing, uncanny imagery in his tapes, and this is especially true of faces. See the above trope Facial Horror for more specific examples. Gloria in particular has one of the most disturbing faces in the series, so much so that some viewers have had nightmares of her.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Applies to every villain in this series.

Major Characters Introduced in Season One

     The Clown / Martin Greywhinder

The Clown

Martin Greywhinder is the primary antagonist of Harmony and Horror and a co-founder of M&A Harmony Play Inc. Often seen dressed in a creepy clown costume, he has murdered up to sixteen people, including his own family, and used Satanic rituals to transform their corpses into toys that are alive, but constantly suffering.

  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unknown whether Martin survived the attack from the Ice Cream Man and was merely injured, or if he was killed and reanimated as the Clown. Also, it's debated amongst the fandom whether Martin is currently on the run as a fugitive, or he's disguised as his brother Arthur and running Harmony Arcadia.
  • Ax-Crazy: It's implied that Martin gradually lost his sanity and stability over time, perhaps due to the multiple killings he carried out, the exposure to dark magic, and the discovery that his wife had cheated on him. By the time his family figured out how dangerous he really was, it was already too late...
  • Control Freak: The only thing Martin desires more than perfection is control...especially of his family. When he transformed them into toys via dark magic, they were supposed to obey his every command. He was proven wrong on two occasions: Banzo refusing to kill Ava for him, and the Ice Cream Man attacking him.
    • Martin's victims are transformed into various different objects - costumes, dolls, puppets, and plush toys - but what do all these objects have in common? They're meant to be controlled and manipulated.
  • Deal with the Devil: Martin made a deal with a Satanic figure in order to achieve his goals. It's unclear at this point if Martin bargained with the Devil himself, or just a demon. Whatever the case, Martin failed to uphold his end of the deal...and the demon got really angry.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Martin's first appearance in the series has him admit to Arthur that he deliberately ran over Banzo with his car, then turned the dog into a monster that will obey him without question. The scene ends with Martin murdering his own brother with a handgun, and shortly afterwards it's revealed that Arthur became another one of Martin's pawns.
  • Evil Laugh: Martin gives one should the viewer choose the "Kill" ending of "_Rebirth_" and Banzo goes through with killing Ava, which means Martin has succeeded in turning his dog into a monster.
  • Expy: Martin is an expy of William Afton from Five Nights at Freddy's. Both were co-founders of a company dedicated to children's entertainment, and both became dangerous serial killers. Both also suffered a very similar, ironic death: William was killed inside a springlock suit and came to haunt it, while Martin was (supposedly) killed by the Ice Cream Man and then somehow reanimated as the Clown. It's worth noting that in both cases, they were killed by their own creations.
  • Freudian Excuse: It's implied in "THE_MIRACLE_CHILD" that Martin might have had an abusive father, which would certainly explain at least some of his issues.
Gloria (to Martin): "Don't ever raise your voice at me. I am your wife. I am not your father".
  • Harmful to Minors: Martin is not above killing children, or even babies. He's even transformed some of them into his monstrous toys, forcing them to live out an existence of pain. Not only that, he killed Macy's mother right in front of her, and forced the Ice Cream Man to kill Thomas in quite a violent manner, leaving a huge splatter of blood on Thomas's bed. And even before he murdered his children, he was physically abusive to them, or at least to Thomas.
  • Hate Sink: Pretty self-explanatory, although he does have at least a couple sympathetic traits.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Martin may be pretty scary in his own right, but all it takes is losing his control over one of his creations to get him shaking...
  • Ironic Hell: Martin murdered his family and handed them a fate worse than death that they can never escape from. Now Martin himself has died, but he somehow came back as the Clown. He has basically been doomed to the same terrible fate that he forced upon his family.
  • Monster Clown: Both literally and figuratively. Martin is often seen wearing a clown costume in the series and is sometimes depicted wearing clown make-up. Even his cartoon counterpart, the Toymaker, has a bit of a clown motif. The clown theme symbolizes the absurdity of Martin's logic and how, instead of becoming the successful toymaker he dreamed of being, he has instead become a "fool".
  • Mood-Swinger: Not surprising given how unstable Martin is.
  • Never My Fault: Martin's inability to accept that he will never be able to make the perfect toy causes him to blame everyone around him for his failures.
    • On top of that, if the viewer chooses the "Kill" path at the end of "_Rebirth_", in which Banzo follows Martin's command and disposes of Ava, Martin joyfully declares that her murder is Banzo's fault, not his.
Martin (to Banzo): You did it. You listened to me. You obeyed me. You're loyal. You're faithful. You're just what (Arthur) said you'd be. You're a monster. And the best part is...I didn't do it. You did. It's all your fault. *Cue Martin laughing with triumphant cruelty*
  • Obviously Evil: He wears a clown costume. Clowns in horror media are never the good guys. Also, he's often seen with a Slasher Smile.
  • Perfection Is Addictive: Martin's main goal in the series is to create the "perfect toy", and there is no low he won't stoop to in order to achieve it.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: This happens twice.
    • Arthur offers to give Martin some time to get help and look after the kids after finding what he did to the family dog. Martin proceeds to fly off the handle at Arthur for sleeping with his wife, shoots him, and turns into the Ice Cream Man.
    • Gloria tries to talk some sense into Martin by showing him the harm he's doing to his children via VHS tapes and pleads for him to stop being a monster. Martin responds by smashing the TV while Gloria is still inside it.
  • Smug Smiler: The Clown is always wearing one, not to mention his first face reveal.

The Ice Cream Man / Arthur Greywhinder

Ice Cream Man

The Ice Cream Man is the mascot of M&A Harmony Toys. A costume of the character is possessed by the soul and flesh of Arthur Greywhinder, Martin's brother and a co-founder of M&A Harmony Play Inc.

  • The Dog Bites Back: Martin was supposed to have complete control over his creations, and yet the Ice Cream Man attacked him despite Martin ordering him to retreat. Whether Arthur did this of his own free will or was being manipulated by a more powerful being is up for debate.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Arthur's first real appearance in "Go0d_By3_ArThur", he's established as a kind of foil to Martin as someone who knows right from wrong. He's horrified by Martin's experiments on Banzo and comes to the conclusion that he needs to get Martin's wife and kids away from him until his brother "sorts himself out". This shows that Arthur was willing to give Martin a chance to redeem himself so he could be reunited with his family in the future.
    • During that same scene, Martin accuses Arthur of having an affair with his wife Gloria, which was actually foreshadowing. It's revealed in "THE_MIRACLE_CHILD" that the affair was real, and it was the reason Martin murdered his family.
  • A Family Affair: What tears his and Martin's relationship apart; he was in love with his sister-in-law, leading to his murderous actions. Despite this betrayal he still loved his brother and tried to talk reason into him.
  • Fighting from the Inside: In the episode "Go0dbye_My_L0ved_0ne5", Arthur says that he's "losing his grip". Is Arthur slowly going insane? Is he being corrupted by demonic energy?...Or was something trying to take control of him? Either way, Arthur knew he would lose the fight in the end, so he recorded a message begging for help before he succumbed.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: If Arthur chose to attack Martin of his own free will, that means he grew beyond Martin's control like Stitchbuddy did.
  • Harmful to Minors: He was the one who killed Thomas, though not of his own free will.
  • Hell Is That Noise: The Ice Cream Man lets out a Grudge-like death rattle as he opens up his jaws, as seen when he prepares to attack Thomas in "I_WaNt_4_T0y". The sound being heard right before Martin is attacked offscreen in "D0n'T_CrY" was a hint that he was Martin's attacker before it's outright revealed in "Hell0_M4rtin".
    • The Ice Cream Man also makes a horrifying roar-like noise as he attacks Thomas in "THE_MIRACLE_CHILD".
  • Manly Facial Hair: Has quite a lot of facial hair to distinguish him from his brother. Unfortunately that disappeared after he was found alive.
  • Nested Mouths: The Ice Cream Man has two mouths, a small buck-toothed smile that opens up to reveal a whole set of razor-sharp teeth.
  • Nice Guy: Arthur clearly loves his brother a lot. After the Harmony Broadcast Incident, Arthur chose to demote Martin instead of firing him, even though he suspected Martin had something to do with said incident. Then, after discovering Banzo's fate, he decided to take Martin's family away in order to protect them until Martin "sorted himself out". He chose to give Martin a chance instead of calling the police and turning him in. Even after his brother horribly betrayed him, killing him and stuffing him inside an ice cream costume, it doesn't seem as though Arthur desires any sort of revenge against Martin, although he knows he has to be stopped.
Arthur: "My brother...did this to me...He's not well...He's...suffering...And he took it out on me".
  • Foil: To Martin. While Martin is a disturbingly abusive and abrasive father, Arthur is very kind and understanding man who seems to be quite close to the family, seeing as Gloria trusted Arthur. Additionally, Martin kills many people willingly while Arthur only kills Thomas while possessing the Ice Cream Man costume reluctantly. Arthur also gave one last chance to Martin when his behavior become too much to handle while Martin never did so to any of his children and was unpersuaded by any attempts to stop.

Henry the Dummy / Thomas Greywhinder

Henry is a puppet doll that is possessed by the soul and flesh of Thomas Greywhinder, Martin's eldest child and only son.

  • Ambiguous Situation: As of "UIZF BSF JOTJEF UIF CVJMEJOH", Henry might be dead. Unless the dummy who was shot wasn't actually Thomas.
  • Creepy Monotone: Henry speaks this way while talking about his father in "I_WaNt_4_T0y".
Henry: "My daddy loves me...He loves me so...Even if...he beats me though..."
  • Establishing Character Moment: In the first episode of H&H, Thomas makes it very clear that he does not like being inside the dummy, and that he wants to "get out". A few episodes later, it's implied that he actually succeeded...
  • Uncertain Doom: The dummy who was shot in "UIZF BSF JOTJEF UIF CVJMEJOH" might have been Thomas. If it was Thomas, does this mean that he's dead? Or will he come back somehow? And if Thomas wasn't the one who was shot...then where is Thomas?
  • Wham Shot: In the episode "I_WaNt_4_T0y", a segment of Henry sitting on a stage and singing keeps repeating over and over, becoming creepier with each repeat. Finally, in the last scene of the stage, Henry's head has fallen off his body, and in the background...is a red humanoid creature that is implied to have crawled out of Henry. Given the context up to that point in the story, it's not hard to put together that this red figure is a human body without its skin.

Sofia the Singing Marionette / Macy Greywhinder

Sofia is a marionette that is possessed by the soul and flesh of Macy Greywhinder, Martin's eldest daughter.

  • Ambiguous Situation: No one knows why the corpse of Macy has decided to leave the body of Sofia, but many agree that she probably wants to crawl inside and take over a Magical Sofia doll. Why she would want to do this is still a mystery though.
  • Creepy Monotone: How she talks in "D0n'T_CrY".
  • Expy: Sofia is likely an expy of Circus Baby from Five Nights at Freddy's. Both are the young daughters of the main antagonists, and they share many similar traits; both are dolls (or doll-like, in Baby's case), both have pigtails, and both of them can open up parts of their faces. Sofia also has a long tongue with a "grabber" at the end, which is similar to the machine claw inside of Baby's stomach.
  • I Want My Mommy!: Sofia calls out for her mother a couple times throughout the series. The fact that Gloria was the last thing she saw trying to protect her just makes this even sadder.
  • Out of Focus: She didn't make a single appearance during the eight-episode finale of Season 1. She was, however, the star of the Christmas special that released shortly afterward, and she was also given some Character Focus in the first episode of Season 2.
  • Wham Shot: Just when people thought Sofia couldn't get any more horrifying than she already was, she shows up in Season 2 looking worse for wear. Not only is her plastic body decayed and covered in dried blood, she has a new stretchy membrane between the two pieces of her lower jaw which only serves to make her even scarier and more grotesque.

     Stitchbuddy / Banzo

Stitchbuddy is a plush dog that is possessed by the soul and flesh of Banzo, the Greywhinder's family dog.

  • Call-Back: In the episode "_Rebirth_", Banzo apologizes to Ava for what he's about to do to her. In "THE_PERFECT_PET", the apology is repeated as Ava crawls her way towards a wounded Banzo.
Banzo: "I don't know you that well, but I know you feed me treats. You pet me. You loved me, Ava. I'm so sorry, little one..."
  • Death Glare: The left side of Banzo's face in his Alpha form is frozen in a look of rage.
  • Expy: Banzo might be an expy of Bonnie from Five Nights at Freddy's. He has bunny-like ears (despite being a dog), he and Bonnie share a similar colour-scheme, Banzo's Alpha form almost looks like an animatronic, and both of their names sound similar to each other.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Banzo resisted Martin's control so he could spare Ava's life. Unfortunately Martin punished Banzo for his disobedience and simply killed Ava himself in the end.
  • Fusion Dance: In the "Rebirth" ending of "THE_PERFECT_PET", Banzo fuses with Ava to become Alpha, a character with two different faces.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: When Banzo became Stitchbuddy, he didn't just become a monster who answers Martin's every beck and call, he also became sentient and more intelligent. Therefore, when Banzo approaches Ava's crib to kill her, he feels a stab of guilt and sympathy for her, and realizes he cannot bring himself to do it. So not only did Banzo grow beyond the standard intelligence of a dog, he managed to grow beyond the control Martin had over him.
  • Hell Is That Noise: Banzo made a dog-like whining noise to lure Arthur to him in "Wake_uP_B4nZo".
  • Ironic Hell: Banzo never listened to Martin as a regular household pet, so Martin turned him into a monster that he could control; in other words, Banzo was now forced to obey him.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Banzo refused to hurt Ava, winning her loyalty as well. In the end they decide to fuse together, perhaps so they can better protect each other.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Should the viewer choose the "Kill" ending in "Rebirth", they will be presented with an image of Banzo after he has murdered Ava. He is covered in her blood, and although Banzo can't make facial expressions, he still somehow manages to look utterly horrified with himself.
  • Nested Mouths: Banzo has kind of an unusual example. Both sides of his mouth feature two completely different sets of teeth, making it appear as though he has two different mouths.
  • Out of Focus: Banzo didn't make a single appearance during the eight-episode finale of Season 1. He didn't have a prominent role in the Christmas special either; instead he only appeared as a cameo. Banzo's next appearance and major role would be in "THE_PERFECT_PET", the second episode of Season 2.
  • Right-Hand Attack Dog: Banzo was this to Martin, right up until he decided to disobey him.
  • Together in Death: In the "Free" ending of "THE_PERFECT_PET", Banzo and Ava depart to the afterlife together so Ava can be reunited with her mother. This, unfortunately, is not the canon ending....

Ava the Poseable Doll / Ava Greywhinder

A white doll that is possessed by the soul and flesh of Ava Greywhinder, Martin's youngest daughter and the baby of the Greywhinder family.

  • A Day in the Limelight: After being a fairly minor character for all of Season 1, Ava finally got her chance to shine in "THE_PERFECT_PET" when she comforts Banzo after he got injured trying to protect her from Martin. She fuses with Banzo to form a whole new character afterwards known as Alpha.
  • Fusion Dance: In the "Rebirth" ending of "THE_PERFECT_PET", Ava fuses with Banzo to become Alpha, a character with two different faces.
  • I Want My Mommy!: During her first appearance in the episode "D0n'T_CrY", she says "Mama" to the darkness behind her. Later on in the "Free" ending of "THE_PERFECT_PET", she whimpers for her mother while holding on to Banzo. Banzo then promises that he will take Ava to her, as their souls ascend.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Banzo refused to hurt Ava, officially winning her trust. In the end they decide to fuse together, perhaps so they can better protect each other.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Or rather non-standard animation. Her movement in "THE_PERFECT_PET" is choppier and more akin to stop-motion compared to Banzo's more fluid animation.
  • Out of Focus: She barely appears throughout the series, and didn't really get her first major role until "THE_PERFECT_PET" in Season 2.
  • Together in Death: In the "Free" ending of "THE_PERFECT_PET", Ava and Banzo depart to the afterlife together so Ava can be reunited with her mother. This, unfortunately, is not the canon ending....

     Gloria Greywhinder

Gloria Greywhinder is a terrifying wraith-like ghost who haunts the VHS tapes that make up the episodes of Harmony and Horror. She replays them over and over for Martin in an attempt to make him understand the error of his ways.

  • Creepy Good: Despite her terrifying appearance, she is actively trying to save her family and even her husband.
Gloria: "Martin, can't you see? You are hurting our children. They loved you. They were proud of you. What Arthur told you was true. We only wanted to protect the children. Haven't you seen enough? I've played these tapes over and over. Can't you see the monster you've become?"
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Once her Facial Horror is undone, she actually looks kinda pretty, despite the black tears and sorrowful expression.
  • A Day in the Limelight: After only making a few appearances as a mysterious shadow throughout Season 1, Gloria finally got her own episode, "Ple4se_C0me_B4ck_T0_M3", where it was revealed she's been trying to get Martin to come back to his senses by making him watch the VHS tapes that make up the actual episodes of the show. It's truly heartwrenching to watch, especially when Martin doesn't listen...
  • A Family Affair: Though Martin always had anger issues, Gloria sleeping with his brother Arthur is what leads him to snap. It's ambiguous whether she had feelings for her brother-in-law, or was trying to give Martin children through him.
  • Horrifying the Horror: In "Ple4se_C0me_B4ck_T0_M3", Gloria pulls back her scary face to try and talk some sense into Martin. Instead, all she does is make him even angrier, and she's utterly mortified when he breaks the TV screen, silencing her.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Gloria's ghost form is a still 2D image compared to the rest of the characters who have 3D models.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's unclear what happened to Gloria after Martin smashed the TV screen she was talking to him through. She might have been banished forever, or perhaps she's only been temporarily silenced and will soon return.

     The Toymaker

The Toymaker is a fictional character from the children's TV show "The Adventures of Markus and Andrew". He is a Mirror Character of Martin Greywhinder.

  • Author Avatar: To Martin, as he shares his ambitions, his clown motif, and his nature.invoked
  • Ax-Crazy: He sort of hides it in his first episode. Not so much in his second.
  • Call-Back: In his Motive Rant, the Toymaker actually says the same thing to Markus and Andrew that Martin said to his brother before shooting him.
Toymaker (to Andrew): "I am not going to let anyone let me down! Including you!"
  • Death Glare: In "Wh4t_Went_Wr0ng", the Toymaker's face becomes twisted with hatred and rage. It's honestly terrifying to witness.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Before the Toymaker is properly introduced, he can be spotted in a dark alleyway watching Markus and Andrew as they eagerly head for the Toy Store.
  • Establishing Character Moment: It becomes clear pretty quickly that the Toymaker is a cartoon counterpart of Martin when he starts talking about how he wants his toys to be "lifelike"...and then he has an Obviously Evil moment, which proceeds to fly over Markus and Andrew's heads.
    • Even before that, his appearance in the background of the previous scene - standing in a dark alleyway watching Markus and Andrew - is a clear sign that something is not right with this guy.
  • Evil Laugh: The Toymaker gives one as he's about to make Markus and Andrew pay for "doubting him". When the demon shows up however, the laugh he lets out is one of pure fear instead.
  • Faux Affably Evil: The Toymaker seems to be pretty chipper, until you disagree with him...or give him your dog.
  • Harmful to Minors: He was going to kill Markus and Andrew before the Devil showed up.
  • Horrifying the Horror: The demon coming to claim him is enough to make him drop his nightmarish demeanor and beg for his life. He shows up in a later trailer singing in a pitch-black void and looks just as scared, as though he knows something angry is hiding in the darkness...
  • Mood-Swinger: Sometimes his true personality peaks out a little...or a lot. He drops the friendly act and becomes flat-out aggressive in "Wh4t_Went_Wr0ng?"
  • Never My Fault: Because he's an animated counterpart to Martin, he shares Martin's inability to accept his own faults. When Banzo doesn't turn out the way he wants, he furiously blames Markus and Andrew for his own failure.
    Toymaker: "YOU!"
    Andrew (confused): "Me?"
Toymaker: "This is all your fault! You could've had the perfect toy! But you...you had to doubt me...".
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Whatever became of the Toymaker is left up to interpretation, but given that he's dealing with the Devil himself, he's probably not having a great time.
  • Smug Smiler: The Toymaker gives the boys one as he introduces them to their "perfect" toy.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "DON'T YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY!?"
  • Uncertain Doom: No one knows what happened to the Toymaker after the Devil came after him.

     Markus and Andrew

Markus and Andrew are a pair of fictional brothers and the protagonists of the children's TV show "The Adventures of Markus and Andrew".

  • Ambiguously Related: The first letters of Markus and Andrew's names stand for "M&A", which is the name of the company that makes their cartoon and is implied to stand for Martin and Arthur, who are brothers. Make of that what you will.
  • Children Are Innocent: Markus and Andrew only helped the Toymaker because they thought they would get the "perfect toy". They missed all of the obvious clues hinting at his true nature, and they don't learn the truth until they see what he's done to their beloved pet dog....
    • Also, Markus describes a man in his dream as "a man dressed in red with ice cream cones on his head". That's a pretty innocent description considering who he may be describing....
  • Establishing Character Moment: When Markus is introduced, he innocently describes a dream he had of the Devil as "a man dressed in red with ice cream cones on his head", only to be immediately interrupted by his brother Andrew, who is more interested in visiting the Toymaker. This sets the atmosphere for the episode, which is more comedic than other entries in the series, and also invokes the Children Are Innocent trope.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: They have a dog with them. The dog in question is Banzo.
  • Uncertain Doom: The fates of Markus and Andrew are left ambiguous after the demon came after the Toymaker. It's possible the demon may have killed them; after all, demonic entities are not known for their kindness or empathy...
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: The boys don't seem to notice some of the creepier details around them, not even the dead body they find in a body bag or the ghostly woman standing behind the Toymaker. It isn't until the Toymaker shows them the "perfect toy" do they react appropriately.

     The Puppeteer

The Puppeteer is an entity that seems to be capable of controlling the Henry dummies, as well as acting as a sort of guardian towards them.

  • All There in the Script: The Puppeteer's name was revealed by Battington himself and is never used in the series proper. However, Eddie likes to refer to the Puppeteer as "Mr. Handy".
  • Creepy Good: Despite the Puppeteer's terrifying appearance, it doesn't seem to pose a threat towards Eddie, a young boy it is currently hiding with. It didn't attack Eddie even after he accidently triggered it with a camera flash, and they even shared a hug afterwards. Awwww~.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The Puppeteer only made a few minor appearances throughout Season 1. It finally got a turn in the spotlight in "THE_MIRACLE_CHILD", where it broke into the house of a boy named Eddie to search for Henry dummies. While the Puppeteer chases Eddie at first, it seems to have ended up befriending him.
  • Wham Shot: The Puppeteer made its very first appearance in "Are_Y0u_HappY?" as a shadowy figure controlling Henry from a doorway. Its appearance was completely unexpected and left many a fearful viewer wondering who or what it was, how it came to exist, and why it was able to puppeteer Henry.

Major Characters Introduced in Season Two

     Magical Sofia

Magical Sofia is a new and improved version of Sofia the Singing Marionette. They are part of the next generation of toys produced by Harmony Play Inc.

  • Early-Bird Cameo: The Magical Sofia dolls made their first appearance in the Christmas special, during a scene where they're all sitting in a closet and occasionally moving (one of them even looks at the camera). They made their official canon debut in "H4PPY_N3W_FRIEND5!"
  • Establishing Character Moment: Right off the bat, Magical Sofia's stilted movements leave viewers on edge. Later on in the commercial, it's implied that the dolls are manipulating children into taking them into their homes...so they can attack them.
  • Harmful to Minors: It seems their mission is to infiltrate the homes of children and then murder them.
  • Killer Robot: A Magical Sofia doll is seen attacking what is presumably their child owner.
  • Obviously Evil: More so than Fuzzy Buddy or the Henry Security puppets due to their wide, unsettling smiles.

     Fuzzy Buddy

Fuzzy Buddy is a new and improved version of Stitchbuddy. They are part of the next generation of toys produced by Harmony Play Inc.

  • Boom, Headshot!: One of the Fuzzy Buddies was taken down by Mr. Stewart through a shot to the head while it was attacking a child.
  • Creepy Monotone: The Buddies speak in a monotone voice that's just childish enough to come off as uncanny.
  • Cute Machines: They manage to be pretty cute when they're not being annoying or downright murderous.
  • Eats Babies: After the Fuzzy Buddy commercial's demonstration of its ability to eat treats, one of them is shown sitting in a bedroom, chewing and covered in blood, all while a baby screams and cries offscreen. Thereby implying that the Fuzzy Buddy literally took a bite out of a baby.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Throughout "THE_PERFECT_PET", it's shown that the Fuzzy Buddies have already attacked multiple children, proving they're not nearly as child-friendly as advertised.
  • Expy: Concept wise, Fuzzy Buddy is based off of "living" robotic pet toys by Hasbro such as FurReal Friends and Furby. In particular, it plays on the fears that many kids had of their Furbies, namely with its watchful Puppy Eyes technology and generally unsettling appearance and mannerisms.
  • Harmful to Minors: Their mission is to kill their chid owners.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Fuzzy Buddy's ability to eat real food is demonstrated when it's shown eating something bloody. And given the screams of a baby in the background, it's not hard to guess what Fuzzy Buddy is eating....
  • Killer Robot: Three Fuzzy Buddies kill (or at least severely maim) their owners in "THE_PERFECT_PET", while a fourth one attempts to pounce on its young owner before getting shot down.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: During one scene in "THE_PERFECT_PET", a Fuzzy Buddy's eyes glow red right before it pounces.
  • Robot Buddy: They're advertised as one, but while they are cute and can eat and dance, they're not as friendly or safe as other examples of this trope.
  • Robot Dog: Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Wham Shot: Given the dark nature of the series and the amount of children who have already died (including two babies), a lot of viewers weren't expecting a child to actually be saved when a Fuzzy Buddy is suddenly shot down mid-pounce while trying to attack one.

     Henry Security Puppets

The Henry Security Puppets are a new and improved version of the Henry dummies. They are part of the next generation of toys produced by Harmony Play Inc. They serve as Harmony Arcadia's security.

  • Death Glare: Commander Henry appears to be giving one at all times.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The commercial advertising the Henry Security Puppets lays out the three different categories: Playtime Henry, who ensures that children follow the rules of Harmony Arcadia; Trooper Henry, who ensures that adults also follow the rules; and Commander Henry, who punishes the rulebreakers. Then, in the hidden video "I_Wish_You_Sweet_Sorrows", it's revealed that they're just as dangerous to children as Magical Sofia and Fuzzy Buddy, to no one's surprise.
  • Harmful to Minors: The Security Puppets are shown stalking the children of Harmony Arcadia. One of them even corners a child who tries to run away. These kids are likely dead, just like the victims of Magical Sofia and Fuzzy Buddy.
  • Killer Robot: They are not programmed to keep children safe like the commercial claims. Quite the opposite, in fact.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Commander Henry's eyes are constantly glowing red. Makes sense since Commander Henry is in charge of punishing people who break the rules, so he's supposed to look intimidating.

     Alpha

Alpha is a fusion of Ava Greywhinder and Banzo the dog.

Minor Characters

     The Devil / The Demon

The demonic entity that Martin struck a deal with.

  • Baphomet: In its first appearance in "She_C4n't_Sle3p", it's depicted with a goat head, implying that the demon in question could very well be Satan himself. Since then however, its form has changed to appear more humanoid.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In "Wh4t_Went_Wr0ng", it's revealed that the Toymaker (a.k.a. Martin) struck a deal with this demon in order to transform real people into living, breathing toys. While the specifics of said deal are not known at this point, one thing is clear: Martin didn't uphold his end of the bargain, and the demon decided to punish him...
  • Harmful to Minors: This demon had no issues with helping Martin transform his own kids into tormented monsters.
  • Hell Is That Noise: The goat head in "She_C4n't_Sle3p" makes an extremely loud, awful noise. The only way it can be described is that it certainly sounds like it came from Hell.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Similar to Gloria, the demon has only appeared as a 2D image, but with two different forms: the first being a goat, the second being more human-like.
  • Obviously Evil: It's a demon. That's all that needs to be said.
  • Villainous Rescue: The demon saves Markus and Andrew from the Toymaker's fury in "Wh4t_Went_Wr0ng?" However, the demon only intervened because the Toymaker didn't maintain his part of the deal. It likely couldn't have cared less about the two boys.

     Detective Harold Stewart

Detective Stewart, commonly addressed as Mr. Stewart, is a detective that is investigating the mysteries of M&A Harmony Toys and the disappearance of the Greywhinder family.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as a Fuzzy Buddy is about to maul their child owner, Mr. Stewart shoots the damn thing in the head mid-pounce, effectively killing it.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Detective Stewart's first appearance in "_Rebirth_", he's shown to be investigating the Harmony Broadcast Incident and the disappearance of Amy Willson, Martin's intern. And it's revealed that he's already dealt with Martin before, after Martin was reported for abusing his son Thomas. This was setting up for Mr. Stewart's later role in Season 2, where he would become fully committed to unraveling the mysteries behind Martin's family and his company.
  • Uncertain Doom: The last time Detective Stewart was seen, the Toy Pals were closing in on him while he was trying to escort a child to safety. His fate at this point - or the fate of the child - is unknown.

     The Toy Pals

Toypal, Joypal, and Roypal are puppets who reside at Harmony Arcadia.

  • All There in the Script: Battington revealed the names of the Toy Pals in the Harmony and Horror Discord server shortly after the premiere of "THE_PERFECT_PET".
  • Establishing Character Moment: In the same episode they were introduced, the Toy Pals are seen trying to stop Detective Stewart from saving the life of a child, proving that they're just as evil as the rest of the Harmony Arcadia creations.
  • Harmful to Minors: The Toy Pals attempt to stop Mr. Stewart from escorting a child to safety. It's likely they wanted to kill both him and the child.

     Morgan the Organ

A mysterious toy organ that originally debuted in the Christmas special "My Two Front Teeth", then started appearing in the canon episodes.

  • Ambiguous Situation: Morgan always seems to appear whenever one of the cursed toys undergoes a transformation. He might be tied to the demon or possibly the Dragon, but no one knows what Morgan's motivations are or why he's "helping" the toys.
  • All There in the Script: Morgan's name was revealed in the Harmony and Horror Discord server by Battington.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He debuted in the Christmas special before showing up in Season 2.
  • Eldritch Abomination: He's capable of appearing and disappearing at will. The fact that no one knows exactly what he is or what he's truly capable of only adds to his "otherness".
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Very little is known about Morgan or what he's capable of, which only makes him even scarier.
  • Obviously Evil: While Morgan's intentions are unknown, he's so creepy-looking that it sets off every alarm in your head. It's not hard to believe that Morgan might be up to no good.
  • Wham Shot: Morgan's first appearance was in the Christmas special. A creepy organ with a face was already unexpected enough, but many assumed he was only a one-off character created specifically for that special...and then he suddenly showed up in the first episode of Season 2....

     The Henry Dummies

Apart from Thomas, there are at least nine other dummies (including Amy Willson) who are also alive. They follow the Puppeteer.

  • Boom, Headshot!: One of the dummies is on the receiving end of this in "UIZF BSF JOTJEF UIF CVJMEJOH". Just when the doll thinks they have the night guard cornered, they make an absolutely glorious Oh, Crap! face as the guard raises a handgun and shoots it point-blank in the forehead, scattering its blood all over the wall behind it.
  • Creepy Good: While hiding with Eddie alongside the Puppeteer, Amy Willson shares her story with him. While the story is a bit too graphic and scary for a young boy, it doesn't seem like Amy is trying to traumatize him. Also, Eddie is not the least bit afraid of Amy in spite of the fact that she's a wooden dummy with human eyes.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The beginning of "Thr0ugh_Broken_WindOws" opens with the Puppeteer attacking a cameraman with two Henry dummies attached to its arms. This scene not only revealed that there were more possessed dummies besides Thomas, it left the implication that the Henry dummies follow the Puppeteer, which later turned out to be true.
  • Horrifying the Horror: The dummies don't stand much of a chance against bullets.
  • Oh, Crap!: Despite their faces being frozen into a creepy smile, one dummy that was shot in "UIZF BSF JOTJEF UIF CVJMEJOH" manages to get this expression across.

     The Dragon

The Dragon is a mysterious character that was teased at in the Season 1 finale. It then made an appearance in the Season 2 trailer.

  • Early-Bird Cameo: A drawing of the Dragon can be seen in Ava's bedroom. Later in the Season 1 finale, it appears as a cardboard cut-out in the last episode "Th4t's_All_folk5".
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Very little is known about the Dragon, but it's been implied that it could be the Big Bad of Season 2, so who knows what it's capable of or what it wants.

     Franklin Norway

Frankling Norway is an arcade owner who creates arcade games about murderous clowns and creepy dolls in the hopes of scaring children away from Harmony Arcadia.

  • Cassandra Truth: Franklin is one of the few people who knows just how dangerous the toys produced at Harmony Toys really are, but there are no adults who believe him (aside from Detective Stewart). So Franklin had to come up with something else in order to protect the kids....
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Franklin made arcade games about killer clowns, possessed dolls, and evil dragons and had children play them so they would be too traumatized to go to Harmony Arcadia. It was the only way he could think to protect them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Franklin's arcade made an appearance in "Are_Y0u_HappY?" as a building called "Franklin's Fun Arcade", which was situated right next to the Toy Store.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Mr. Stewart's interaction with Franklin reveals that he's an upbeat and eccentric man, responding to Detective Stewart claiming he's there to make sure there's no arcade games scamming kids of their money by impishly joking that he "isn't going to like what he finds", who created terrifying arcade games about clowns and dolls to scare children away from Harmony Arcadia. Not because Harmony Arcadia is a rival business, but because Franklin knows what's going on in that store and what the toys are capable of....
  • Harmful to Minors: Franklin has been deliberately traumatizing kids with his scary and violent arcade games about clowns and toys to keep them from wanting to go to Harmony Arcadia. His intentions are noble, however, as he only wants to keep them safe.
  • Nice Guy: He was pleasant and charming to Mr. Stewart when the detective visited his arcade and even offered to show him around. Even when the detective figured out what Franklin was up to, he was genuinely apologetic about the creepy arcade games, but believed it was the only way to keep children safe....
  • Scare 'Em Straight: His plan to keep kids away from the murderous toys was to show them terrifying and potentially graphic imagery of clowns and dolls through his arcade games.

     Officers Jeremy and Jameson

Two police officers who investigated the Greywhinder family's house.

     Richard Smith and Nathan Barnes

Richard Smith and Nathan Barnes were two young boys who were killed in the Harmony Broadcast Incident.

Marilyn Taylor, Earl Mclain, and Jennifer Laker

These three children appeared in the Magical Sofia commercial, evidently against their will.
