Golgo 13's Contacts

The Clockmaker

An informant who gives Golgo 13 info and gadgets to use on his jobs. He is killed by Snake roughly a third of the way through the movie.

  • Gadgeteer Genius: He uses his skills as a clockmaker to create gadgets for Golgo 13 to use, such as a wristwatch bomb.
  • Knowledge Broker: He primarily serves Golgo 13 as an informant and gives him critical information on his targets.
  • No Name Given: He's only known by his alias The Clockmaker and dies before ever giving out his real name.

Rita

An arms dealer and mechanic who has an infatuation with Golgo 13. She provides him weapons, modifications and vehicles. She is killed by Snake shortly after he murders of The Clockmaker, becoming his second victim.

  • Arms Dealer: Her main role. She even gives some light Description Porn to Duke's modified gun:
Rita: The trigger is an electronic push-button. I increased the burst to fifteen rounds per second. And the change in balance from the recoil is held below decimal. And check out the Silencer kit.
Golgo 13: Rita, it's okay, I don't need to hear it. I trust you. Just tell me what you want for the modifications and for the car.
  • Friend in the Black Market: She provides Duke with most of his equipment in The Professional.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Her main motivation for working with Duke is to try and win his love and affection. When Duke rebuffs her romantic advances and offers her payment for the work she did she actually seems quite hurt and offended.
  • Wrench Wench: Her other main area of expertise besides firearms is vehicle modification. She apparently even spent some time in Formula One.

Pablo

Another one of Golgo's many information brokers who is asked to find out who is behind the recent attempts on the legendary assassin's life. He successfully traces a lead back to Dawson but is found out and forced to attack Golgo when his wife and child are threatened, leading to his death.

  • Affably Evil: Aside from working for an international assassin he seems like a pretty decent guy. Unfortunately, this gets used against him when Dawson gets a hold of his family and forces him to attack Golgo to save them, which causes his death.
  • Apologetic Attacker: When he's forced to draw a gun on Golgo.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He is appalled to learn that Dawson used his own granddaughter to try to kill Golgo at the airport.
Golgo 13: Did you find out who ordered it?
Pablo: Dawson Enterprises CEO himself, Leonard Dawson.
Golgo 13: Just like I thought. I was almost somebody's clay pigeon last night at the airport, Dawson's granddaughter and butler, both of whom were at the boat party.
Pablo: Are you sure it was them?
Golgo 13: Mmm-hmm. They almost nailed me.
Pablo: Sick bastard. That's really cold. The guy must be nuts to drag his granddaughter into this. That's one desperate trap.
  • I Have Your Wife: Dawson manages to capture his family before he can report back to Golgo, forcing him to attack his own employer in a desperate attempt to save them. Naturally, Golgo proves to be much quicker on the trigger.
  • Knowledge Broker: Golgo hires him to track down the man who keeps sending out goons to try and whack him. He succeeds in tracing a lead back to Dawson but is somehow found out and is forced to attempt a hit on Golgo himself to save his family.

Dawson Family

Laura Dawson

Robert's wife turned widow who slowly loses everything she holds dear over the course of the movie. By the end she's reduced to prostituting herself on the street.

  • Broken Bird: Robert's death was bad enough, but getting raped and losing her daughter as well pretty much destroys her emotionally.
  • Rape as Drama Leonard begrudgingly allows her to be raped by Snake twice over the course of the film as payment for going after Golgo 13.
  • Riches to Rags: Over the course of "The Professional" she goes from the happy and loving wife of a billionaire oil tycoon's heir to a near penniless hooker who's lost everything she had, including her young daughter. Interestingly, Leonard offered to pay her whatever amount of money she wanted as compensation for giving up her daughter but she clearly turned it down, either out of disgust or principle.

Emily Dawson

Robert and Laura's young daughter who plays a small but important role in the movie.

  • Expy: She's actually based off one of the target-of-the-week's henchman in the manga story "Stalemate". She was also trained to kill Golgo by her grandfather, right down to using a gun hidden a toy doll as a weapon Unlike her film counterpart, Golgo put a bullet right between her eyes right after she shoots him.
  • Harmful to Minors: Seeing her father and her caretaker shot dead right in front of her eyes can't have been good for her psyche. Being trained to kill the man who did it probably wasn't very fun either.
  • Laser Guided Tyke Bomb: Dawson has her removed from her mother and trained in firearms so that she can kill Golgo when he arrives. She comes very close to hitting him with a headshot but is off by just a few inches.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Golgo isn't shown killing her after she attempts to shoot him, but she doesn't appear after that scene either. Averted with her manga counterpart as she becomes one of Golgo's kills.

Dawson's Associates

E. Young, F. Garvin, and General T. Jefferson

The CIA deputy director, FBI section chief and Pentagon information director, respectively. These men were all hired by Dawson for one purpose: the elimination of Golgo 13 by any means necessary. With their combined brains and brawn, not to mention a small army of special forces and elite agents, they hope to finally put an end to the fabled assassin once and for all.

  • Even Evil Has Standards: They were completely against bringing in Gold & Silver and were actually about to walk out on Dawson before he threatened to shut down the United States economy if they didn't comply with his demands. They only relent after he promises to avoid civilian casualties.
  • Fat Bastard: Garvin is particularly pudgy.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite being corrupt and having a direct hand in the plot against Golgo 13 none of them are ever shown receiving any sort of punishment. They just sort of disappear from the movie after Garvin introduces Gold & Silver and aren't seen again after that. There's no indication that Golgo went after them or even knew who they were, either.

Dawson's Hitmen

Lt. Bob Bragan

A specialist called in to kill Golgo 13. He meets his end shortly after he and his men fail to finish Golgo 13 off after ambushing him on a job, but not before delivering one last attack that very nearly kills the legendary assassin.

  • Bad Boss: He cares very little for the lives of his own allies so long as he gets his target.
  • Boom, Headshot!: And he still manages to nail Golgo with a near lethal shot before he dies.
  • Defiant to the End: Even with all of his men dead and staring down the barrel of Golgo 13's gun he refuses to give up and tries one last-ditch attack in an attempt to kill him. He manages to wound the legendary assassin, but suffers a fatal car crash immediately afterwards.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: He serves as the main threat towards Golgo 13 for the first half of "The Professional" only to be killed off near the halfway point of the movie. Afterwards Leonard Dawson takes on the role of Big Bad for the rest of the movie.
  • Multiple Gunshot Death: Duke pelts him with bullets as he drives towards him which causes him to crash his car and die in the explosion.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: He seems to be fond of cursing, which distances him from the much more reserved and psychotic Snake and Gold & Silver.
  • Villainous Valour: Even after having all of his men wiped out he refuses to give up and tries running down Golgo in his car, which gets him filled full of lead. Despite being only seconds away from death he still finds the strength to fire off one last shot that seriously wounds Golgo before finally perishing in a car crash and explosion.
  • You Look Familiar: Variant: there's an FBI agent in Queen Bee who tries to arrest the title character who looks close to and even dresses like him. Like Bragan, he gets cut down in a hail of bullets.

Snake
A creepy and mysterious assassin who is enlisted by Leonard Dawson to kill Golgo 13. After a heated and close battle in an elevator he is caught off guard by an attack helicopter and riddled with bullets, finally puting an end to the depraved madman.
  • Animal Motifs: Snakes, obviously. He is shown slithering around and is a cunning and deadly murderer.
  • Hero Killer: He kills a squad of elite special forces soldiers as well as The Clockmaker and Rita and gives Duke Togo one of his closest fights in the entire franchise.
  • Multiple Gunshot Death: He fails to notice an approaching attack chopper and is riddled with bullets while Golgo 13 takes cover.
  • One-Man Army: He effortlessly massacres several elite soldiers and personally kills two of Duke's contacts.
  • Opponent Switch: His manga counterpart is a Chinese assassin who uses a nunchaku. Golgo gets him with a knife after he manages to wrap one of his weapons around the assassin's arms.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: He wields a pair of small blades connected to wires and is a sadistic and cruel man.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He wears an all purple uniform and is by far the deadliest assassin Dawson has at his command.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He quickly proves himself to be the worst of the worst not by murdering countless people, but by raping Laura Dawson twice in exchange for killing Golgo 13.
  • Razor Floss: His primary weapons are a pair of blades attached to lethally sharp wire.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: He rarely speaks and never raises his voice, even while slicing apart elite commandos or engaged in a battle to the death with Golgo 13.

Gold and Silver
A pair of extremely deadly hitmen that were part of a government experiment between 40 of the best professional killers in the world and 2000 guerrilla fighters in the jungle. After being arrested for violent crimes and landing on death row the duo are released by Dawson to hunt down Golgo 13. In the end they prove to be formidable opponents but are ultimately no match for the elite assassin and meet their demise fighting him.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Gold has a prosthetic gold arm while Silver has a silver leg, presumably to replace the limbs they lost in the jungle.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Both men are formally introduced wearing stylish gold and silver suits.
  • Bling of War: In case the names didn't clue you in both men wear gold and silver suits and prosthetics.
  • Boxed Crook: Both men were on death row waiting to be executed for "some very perverted murders" until Dawson came along to set them free on the condition that they kill Golgo 13.
  • Eye Scream: Gold lost one of his eyes during the events in the jungle, which was replaced with a golden replica. It falls out after Golgo shoots him five times at point blank range
  • Facial Horror: Silver is heavily scarred underneath his mask
  • Fire-Forged Friends: It's heavily implied that their struggles together in the jungle turned them into the inseparable pair they are now.
  • Handicapped Badass: The gruesome injuries the duo suffered from their time in the jungle do nothing to hinder their combat effectiveness.
  • Laughing Mad: Gold laughs like a lunatic while trying to kill Golgo, especially once he gets close enough to grab ahold of his bandaged stomach wound with his fake hand. He only stops after Golgo gives him a skull fracture by smashing the butt of his gun against the back of his head, and even then, he lets out a few giggles as he tries to drag himself after his target
  • Made of Iron: The whole confrontation seems to lead to an Anti-Climax Boss despite all the build-up, after Golgo 13 shoots the two point-blank in the chest (three bullets for Gold, two for Silver). Golgo turns around, and begins to walk away, reloading his gun... only for the pair to get right back up and rush after him, completely ignoring the bloody holes in their bodies, which don't even slow them down! It takes a skull fracture and another five bullets in the head to put down Gold, and a grenade to kill Silver.
  • Off with His Head!: Silver is killed by having his head blown off with a grenade.
  • One-Man Army: Both men managed to single-handily overcome and kill 2000 guerrilla soldiers while stranded in the jungle without any weapons or supplies.
  • Sanity Slippage: Though they ultimately managed to survive the government experiment that killed all the others it's clear from their present state that both their bodies and their minds didn't come out of it unscathed.
  • Screaming Warrior: Neither of the two ever speak, only uttering shrieks, screams, and in Gold's case, laughter.
  • Single Tear: Silver weeps a single bloody tear after Gold is killed
  • Sole Survivor: They were the only two survivors of a group of 40 professional killers who managed to survive on a jungle island against 2000 guerilla. They were also the only ones who lasted longer than a week.

Golgo's Other Targets

Cindy, AKA Dr. Z

The wealthy and heavily guarded daughter of Dr. Z. After agreeing to a contract put out on her father Golgo 13 uses Cindy to get closer to him and flush him out of hiding. Though it is quickly revealed that she herself is the infamous Dr. Z and was hoping to lead Golgo 13 off her trail. Unfortunately for her, he sees through the act and soon dispatches her before making his escape from her manor house.

  • Establishing Character Moment: Her introduction to the movie sees her stripping off a fur coat to reveal nothing but a tiny swimsuit and a necklace tucked between her exposed breasts, combing elements of Naked in Mink, Barely-There Swimwear and Diamonds in the Buff into a single scene. The Clockmaker himself lampshades this by telling Duke he has no idea how hard this footage was to get.
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: She's seen using a cigarette holder while relaxing and is a Mafia Princess so its definitely evil smoking.
  • Mafia Princess: She lives a wealthy and privileged life thanks to the work of her father and is constantly seen accompanied by guards wherever she goes. Ultimately subverted though. She herself is Dr. Z and was attempting to fool Golgo 13 into thinking she was merely his daughter. After seeing through the ruse Golgo 13 makes short work of her before making a quick escape to his next assignment.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is first introduced stripping off a fur coat to go skinny-dipping and spends about half of her screentime in the nude.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Especially notable given that The Professional first came out in 1983, meaning she actually beat the Trope Namer herself by about three years. Had Golgo 13 been a bit more popular in america this trope might've even been known as "Cindy Is Dr Z" instead.
  • Starter Villain: She gives Golgo a bit of trouble as Dr. Z, but is taken out rather effortlessly compared to the later villains in The Professional. She's also one of the few targets who has no connection to Leonard Dawson, instead being assassinated by Golgo because she took out a hit on a rival mob family.
  • Would Hurt a Child: As Dr. Z she put out a hit on a rival crime family that ended up killing several young children. This leads to her death when one of the surviving family members asks Golgo 13 to kill her for revenge.

    Queen Bee

Golgo 13's Contacts

The Informant

A mysterious man who provides Golgo 13 information on his newest assassination target, Queen Bee.

  • Knowledge Broker: He provides Golgo 13 with most of his information on Queen Bee, her army of guerrilla soldiers and her family and past.
  • No Name Given: He's known only as The Informant.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: His role and appearance in "Queen Bee" is nearly identical to that of The Clockmaker from "The Professional" who was killed by Snake early in the movie. The main difference between the two is that The Informant actually manages to survive the film he appears in.

Queen Bee and Associates

Queen Bee, AKA Sonia, AKA Joanna Hardy

An enigmatic and mysterious female soldier who becomes Golgo 13's main target for her self-titled movie when she calls for the assassination of presidential candidate Robert Hardy. Not much is known about her aside from the fact that she is an extremely lethal fighter who commands the total loyalty and respect of her men.

  • Benevolent Boss: She's extremely kind to her subordinates and genuinely cares for them. When she's forced to ask one of her men to sacrifice himself to allow her and the others to escape she wastes no time in finding the guy who set them up and caps him without remorse.
  • Dark Action Girl: Of the highest order.
  • Ethical Slut: She gets about as much action as Golgo himself but genuinely cares about and loves the men she sleeps with, which makes them undyingly loyal to her.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She may be a ruthless guerrilla soldier and drug dealer but she really does care about her subordinates and her children.
  • Face Death with Dignity: She laments her death at Golgo 13's hands but uses her last few breaths to give him a farewell kiss and ask him to accept a contract to put an end to the man who caused all this suffering to begin with.
  • Fiery Redhead: What else would you expect from a woman who screws and/or kills about 90% of the guys she meets? She's also got a pretty sharp wit and has the courage to snark even when her own life is in danger.
  • Mama Bear: She brutally disembowels a soldier that was about to shoot her children.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Has 7 kids, each with a different man.
  • Ms. Fanservice: A beautiful and actiony redhead with enough nude scenes to fill an issue of playboy? Hell yes.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She definitely knows how extremely sexy she is and won't hesitate to use that to her advantage. Over the course of "Queen Bee" she shows more skin than a bus full of pornstars.

Antonio
One of Queen Bee's comrades who sacrifices himself to give her and the others a chance to escape a drug bust by the police.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He willingly sacrifices himself at Queen Bee's request so that the rest of his comrades can escape a police sting operation.
  • Taking You with Me: He kamikazes his vehicle into several police cruisers to create an opening for Queen Bee and the rest of his crew to escape. Both he and the cops perish.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Queen Bee. When confronted by the police during a drug bust she casually asks him to sacrifice himself so that she and the others can escape... and he does so without any argument or hesitation.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He only lasts about a minute after his introduction and the only point of his character is to show how much loyalty and respect Queen Bee commands from her subordinates.

Don Roccini

An accomplice and lover of Queen Bee who runs the local mafia.

  • Dirty Old Man: It's pretty clear that he values Sonia's company as more than just a business partner.
  • The Don: He's the head of the mafia that is partnered with the south american guerrilla fighters that Queen Bee leads.

Robert Hardy and Associates

Robert Hardy
The democratic candidate for for the upcoming US presidential election. Robert Hardy is a haunted and weary man whose past hides a dark secret connection to Queen Bee.
  • The Alcoholic: Big time, and it's not his only vice either.
  • Driven to Suicide: After failing to kill his running mate Thomas in revenge for manipulating him for several years and having just thrown away everything he's worked towards he decides to end his own life as he's tackled to the ground by security.
  • Functional Addict: Manages to keep himself composed enough to have a decent shot at the presidency despise having an addiction to what appears to be heroin.
  • Heel Realization: After finding out that his daughter Joanna has been alive all these years and that his supposed "friend" Thomas was keeping her a secret from him.
  • Hypocrite: Built his campaign on a staunchly anti-drug platform despite being a massive alcoholic and drug addict himself.

General Gordon

A corrupt general working for Thomas Waltham.

  • Beard of Evil: He has a thick beard and is a very amoral general.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Golgo executes him near the end of the movie by putting a bullet through his eye.
  • Crazy-Prepared: He helped Benning avoid justice for his many crimes during the war because he knew he'd one day need a man with his diehard loyalty and particular skill set. Once he gets hired by Thomas to kill Queen Bee he finally comes calling and sends the psychopath after her.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite being evil, Gordon is openly disgusted by the things Benning did while fighting in the war, even calling him out for his horrific deeds when fighting under his command, with a very visibly angry look on his face.
  • Eye Scream: Meets his end during the credits of "Queen Bee" when Golgo shoots him in his left eye.

Lt. Benning

A psychotically unhinged and bloodthirsty former soldier who is tasked by General Gordon to find and kill Queen Bee.

  • Asshole Victim: He ends up failing to stand a chance against Golgo 13 and dies brutally, as a result. Though considering this was a guy who was a literal cannibal who killed literally anyone, including pregnant women and children, his death was well-deserved.
  • Blood Knight: To an absolutely disturbing degree.
  • Ax-Crazy: He makes Snake from the first film, of all people, look sane by comparison, and that is saying alot.
  • Expy: Golgo faced a similar, one-eyed veteran soldier with PTSD in the manga story "The Soldier Who Slept in the Forest".
  • Eye Patch Of Power: He wears an eye patch over his left eye and is a deadly and vicious soldier.
  • Eye Scream: He is killed by having his own knife impaled through his remaining eye.
  • Hate Sink: An absolutely vile and deranged psychopath with no redeeming qualities.
  • I Am a Humanitarian: He not only killed a pregnant woman (which is, thankfully, mentioned only), but he cooked her flesh like bacon for food to feed himself.
  • Ignored Epiphany: At first, he seems remorseful and horrified by his own actions when General Gordon brings up his crimes to him. This quickly goes away, however, when Gordon recruits Benning to fight in another war, showing how shallow his remorse really is.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Subverted. When Gordon finally meets Benning again after many years, Benning appears to be horrified and traumatzed by his murderous deeds, only to then switch back to being a gleeful Blood Knight when Gordon recruits him for another war.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: A major type II, like you wouldn't believe. Oh, and when we say sociopathic, we fucking mean it:
General Gordon: Of course you were, son. Your loyalty was never in question.
Lt. Benning: I'd walk through the gates of hell if my superiors ordered me to!
General Gordon: Oh, I know. I remember ordering you to destroy that village but your orders did not include cutting open a woman who was six months pregnant, dragging her back to camp and frying up strips of her flesh in a frying pan! Or returning to base with a chopper full of human heads, I don't recall ordering anything like that!
  • Would Hurt a Child: He apparently had no problem cutting up and eating a pregnant woman and happily leads a raid on Queen Bee's village where her young children live.
