U.A. High School
Class 1-A
Izuku Midoriya - Bloodborne
Izuku Midoriya
Quirk: Cursed Blood
The main protagonist and wielder of Cursed Blood.
- Adaptational Intelligence: While his canon counterpart was no idiot, this iteration of Midoriya is nothing short of a Child Prodigy.
- All Your Powers Combined: Through their bond, Izuku manages to use Saki's Gearhead Quirk, allowing him to build a steampunk hovercraft during the Obstacle Race.
- Bad Powers, Good People: He's functionally unkillable, his Healing Factor combined with years of physical abuse allows him to shrug off painful injuries that would physically and psychologically cripple most people, consuming his blood allows him to mentally influence people and raise the recently deceased as zombies. He is also a genuine sweetheart of a boy dreaming of be a Hero.
- Berserk Button: Treating his zombies as things instead of people really annoys him.
- Deliberate Injury Gambit: Giving the sheer tenacity of his Healing Factor, a lot of Izuku's fighting strategies involve him powering through attacks to get to his target or allowing them to beat him into the ground so that he can get a better reach at their weak-point, confident that he'll just get back up good as new as soon as he makes his hit.
- Healing Factor: His blood gives him such powerful regeneration he can tank ungodly amounts of damage, including brain damage or getting his heart pierced which is usually fatal to other people with regeneration quirks.
- Hyperactive Metabolism: Izuku's Healing Factor is powered by his energy reserves, so he gets this as Required Secondary Powers: he's capable of scarfing down three medium-sized pizzas in ten minutes without suffering any ill effects.
- Ideal Illness Immunity: One of the perks of Izuku's healing factor seems to be his inability to get sick. This also applies to those who he uses his blood on, as his blood flushed out every disease Tae received (most of which with no known cure) when he resurrected her. Its played with in that he technically isn’t immune to diseases, his Cursed Blood simply kills any diseases or bacteria before his normal immune system can even react.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: While he considers an alternative, by the time he is tasked with choosing a hero name, he has embraced the Terror Hero image he has reluctantly earned and calls himself "The Sinister Hero - Bloodborne."
- Not So Above It All: After the Board of Representatives do everything they can to handicap Izuku for the Sports Festival out of Quirkism, they give him the chance to pick who should speak for him as First Year Representative. He chooses Iida, who proceeds to give a passionate (yet rather boring) speech that lasts for over ten straight minutes. Even Tsuyu, who is on Izuku's side in this, thinks it was a little much.
- The Power of Blood: His uncanny regeneration and healing along with his ability to raise dead come from his blood.
- Superpower Lottery: While its scary nature has done Izuku zero favors in his life, it is repeatedly brought up that Izuku's Healing Factor might be the most effective healing quirk ever discovered. Not only does it allow him to heal from literally anything - from minor cuts to a bullet to the brain, even dismemberment - and years of Bakugo's bullying has given him a pain-threshold that allows him to shrug off injuries that would bring anyone else into shock. Not only that, but it is able to heal other people from fatal injuries (and even improve their health in Inko's case), give him some level of temporary mind control over them and, if the blood could not save them in time or if they were already dead, can become his willing zombie servants.
- It appears that the Quirk has a lot more to it than expected, giving Izuku greater strength and speed than normal. Point in fact, during the fight against Ibara Shiozaki, he makes her vines wither when they touch him and hits her so hard and fast that she is sent into the air and it can only be seen as a blur on slow motion.
- An omake indicates that his growing abilities may be derived from his sentient Quirk reacting to Izuku's feelings: for example, being unable to save Tae could have given him his "necromancer" power, and his desire to become strong enough to fight on his own caused Cursed Blood to start improving Izuku's muscles and reflexes.
- Terror Hero: While Izuku has little say over the matter, Izuku's intelligence and the sinister nature of his quirk has all signs point to Izuku weaponizing the fear he inspires in the future, even referring to himself as a "sinister hero" when asked to create a USJ event as a test for Class 1-B.
Tsuyu Asui - Froppy
Tsuyu Asui
Quirk: Frog
A young girl whose strange appearance is caused by her Quirk, "Frog". She's Izuku's first friend at U.A. and eventually his girlfriend. Later his fiancee.- Clingy Jealous Girl: Kinda understandable, given Izuku's complicated relationship with Bakugo.
- Rescue Romance: She already felt predisposed to like Izuku, but him saving her life after a building fell on her cemented her attraction towards him.
- Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She's dating the painfully nice Izuku.
Tae Yamada - Ghoul
Tae Yamada
Quirk: Quirkless
The first zombie Izuku created and the "oldest".
- Mistaken for Related: In the early part of the story, she tends to be confused for Izuku's older sister by everyone who didn't know better, moreso when people see her and Izuku regenerating — similar Quirks run between siblings, after all. It becomes less prevalent after the details of Izuku's quirk enter public knowledge.
- My Greatest Second Chance: Tae's life was an exercise in utter misery, culminating with her murder. When Izuku resurrects her, she's given people genuinely caring about her and the opportunity to do a hero's work.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: Several scenes show that she is smarter than she seems, and can actually speak normally, but she keeps the charade out of loyalty to Izuku.
- Restored My Faith in Humanity: What Izuku did to her by insisting to give her justice for her sexual abuse and murder while everyone else failed to care just because she was Quirkless.
- Sex Slave: Poor Tae was repeatedly sold to human trafficking rings to be raped again and again, and managed to escape only to be shot down.
- Un-Sorcerer: The reason why she was victimized through rape and authorities refusing to care about her case? She didn't have a Quirk.
- The Unintelligible: Unlike the other zombies, Tae only speaks in moans and groans. Only Izuku and people infected with his blood can understand her.
Lily Hoshikawa - Banshee
Lily Hoshikawa
Quirk: Dissonant Song
The second of Izuku's zombies. She is a boy who self-identifies as female.
- Abusive Parents: Her dad means well, but he's too absorbed in his work to be anything other than neglectful. And her stepmother was actually responsible for Lily's murder when she sold the girl to paedos.
- Awesome, yet Impractical: Her Quirk-disrupting screech was so powerful she couldn't hold it for more than a second when alive because it would destroy her organs. But now, Lily's a regenerating zombie...
- Hope Spot: She tried to approach Eraserhead to beg him for help, but ultimately failed to properly convey how much danger she was in. The next time he heard about her, it was when she entered his classroom after being resurrected by Izuku.
- Personality Powers: Lily dreams to become an Idol Singer, and is gifted with the ability to unleash a sonic scream.
- Power Nullifier: Her sonic screech completely disrupts any Emitter Quirk in the vicinity, causing great nausea on those affected.
- Third-Person Person: She often talks in third person, being a young girl and all.
Saki Nikaido - Wraith
Saki Nikaido
Quirk: Gearhead
The third zombie Izuku created.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Her Quirk is all about doing this to machines. No matter the flaw or the potential for improvement, Saki will find it.
- But Not Too Foreign: Through her formerly CIA agent father, Saki is half-American.
- Daddy's Girl: Her father raised her by himself, she took mechanics with gusto and she's visibly dismayed when he stays dead.
- Delinquent: She's the leader of a gang, Doremi. After her death and zombification, she more or less puts Izuku in charge, and he gets them Dagobah Beach to clean up and then take care of.
- Foil: At first glance, Saki is a female Bakugo — blonde, foul-mouthed and Hot-Blooded. But while Bakugou despises Izuku and has a lone wolf mentality, Saki respects her new "Overboss" and integrates herself into a team.
- Improbable Aiming Skills: She can hit someone with a wrench at two hundred meters.
- Lady Swears-a-Lot: Saki seems unable to say one sentence without turning the air blue — she liberally uses "fuck" and "shit" and casually insults people.
- Please Wake Up: A rather more violent version than usual. She starts to hit and scream at her father's corpse when he doesn't come back to life with her.
- Wrench Wench: Saki enjoyed working with her mechanic father, and her Quirk is perfect for work on support tech.
Others
Katsuki Bakugou
Katsuki Bakugou
Quirk: Explosion
Izuku's former Childhood Friend and long-time bully.
- Adaptational Jerkass: Bordering on Adaptational Villainy. While canon!Bakugo liked to Kick the Dog fairly often, it was because of an Inferiority Superiority Complex he eventually learns to reconcile with. Here, he uses Izuku's Healing Factor (and Aldera Middle School's complete negligence) as an excuse to torment him beyond the point of abuse because it doesn't leave any scars. Eventually it leads to him actively trying to murder Izuku because Izuku beat him in the Heroes Vs. Villains exercise, nearly killing Tsuyu and Iida as collateral damage.
- Black-and-White Insanity: Bakugo legitimately believes that Izuku's quirk automatically makes him a supervillain waiting to happen and that his own quirk is a sign that he is destined to take him down as a great hero. The more successful Izuku becomes as a hero-in-training, the more Insane Troll Logic Bakugo comes up with to legitimize his flimsy worldview.
- Character Development: His time at the Seireitei and interactions with Junko have helped him reign in his Hair-Trigger Temper and Pride. The one thing he hasn’t started to grow out of yet his Never My Fault mentality.
- Everyone Has Standards: For all his issues, even he is genuinely horrified by Junko's backstory, especially once Trigger is brought in.
- Fatal Flaw: His Pride and Hair-Trigger Temper are ultimately his undoing. After losing to Izuku and Tsuyu during the Battle Trials, his pride is so unable to accept the fact he lost against a "villain" that he uses his gauntlets' full destructive power to kill him AFTER the trial was over. This action nearly got Tenya and Tsuyu killed and him expelled.
- Nightmare Fetishist: He doesn't exactly dislike having Junko Konno's spider leg pressed against his mouth and groin.
- Psychopathic Manchild: It takes a massively fragile ego and an atrophied sense of empathy for Bakugo to collapse an entire building with an explosion, nearly killing two classmates as collateral from his attempt to murder Izuku because Izuku beat him in what was essentially a war-game in the second day at school.
Junko Konno (Unmarked Spoilers)
Junko Konno
A fellow occupant of the Seireitei alongside Bakugou, with the lower body of a spider. She’s had a rough life.- Cursed with Awesome: While her monstrous appearance may have crushed her dreams of being an idol, it also comes with greatly increased strength, speed, and reflexes as well as numerous other benefits. As Bakugou points out, her abilities would be perfect for Hero work.
- Hide Your Otherness: Junko was able to hide her initial spider appendages by wrapping them in silk to disguised them as wings. This became impossible after her Trigger exposure.
- Spider People: Her lower body has been transformed into that of a spider’s.
- Tall Poppy Syndrome: A rival in her idol group couldn’t stand sharing the leadership with her, so she lured her to a party and had her injected with Trigger.
- Trauma Conga Line: Junko basically had her entire life screwed up within the span of a single day. She had just achieved her dream of becoming an idol when a rival had her forcefully injected with a form of Trigger that permanently mutated her body. As a result, the media dragged her name through the mud, her manager left her, she was fired by her idol company, and to top it all off her parents disowned her before she had even recovered from her ordeal. This entire series of events left her borderline catatonic until she met Bakugou.
