This is the character list for Andro Melos.

Andro People/Andro Garrison

A race of aliens living in Andromeda galaxy, known to wear Cosmo Tector Powered Armor. Like the Ultras of the Land of Light, the Andro People are also peace-loving race and also established the Andro Defense Force as their answer to Space Garrison (of course, Zoffy had a hand in the team's foundation).

The Andro Melos miniseries focuses on the adventures of four Andro Super Warriors, Melos, Wolf, Mars and Flor in their fight against the Guar Army.

    As a whole
  • 24-Hour Armor: They are never seen removing their armors, so the audience lack a glimpse over how a normal Andro People usually look like.
  • Action Bomb: Cosmo Aura, the users of the Cosmo Tectors unleash their pent up energies into a bomb that eradicates nearby opponents.
  • Archenemy: The Guar Army had a great animosity against the Andro Garrison members for constantly foiling their schemes. Of course, the Andro Warriors are one of the many forces brave enough to stand in the Guar Army's conquest.
  • Badass Crew: The Andro Garrison, full stop. They are not Ultras, simply an alien race with good connection to the Land of Light, but these two species share the same sense of justice and dedicated their lives to uphold peace in outer space.
  • Batman Parody: A trope that is taken IN SPACE! and combined with a similarly gigantic alien other than the Ultra Warriors. They fight monsters using their Cosmo Tector armors and even keep their weapons in the Andro Pod.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: The members of the Andro Garrison has different colors of Cosmo Techtor to distinguish themselves: Melos is green, Wolf is red, Mars is orange and Flor is white.
  • Cool Ship: The Andro Boat, the Andro Garrison's means of transportation.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In the magazines, the Andro People's Cosmo Techtor has yellow eyes shining from their visors. This trait was lost in the live action miniseries.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: A literal example with the Andro Garrison members, especially since they wear Cosmo Techtors in all of their appearances.
  • Megaton Punch: The first four members can unleash a strong punch, called as Cosmo Punch.
  • Oddly Small Organization: The series started at some point when Benoit received his Cosmo Tector and became Andro Melos, which was when Zoffy decided to help out with founding the Andro Garrison. This Justified the organization's small membership (four), as they were still on a fresh start.
  • Powered Armor: Their Cosmo Tectors, it provides them protection and even supplying them their respective weapons.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: Melos, Wolf and Mars can utilize Andro Cross shurikens stored on their hands.
  • Utility Belt: The Andro Pod pockets on each ends of their belt can actually holster weapons and summoning them when needed.

    Andro Melos

Andro Melos (II)/Benoit

Voice actor: Makoto Ataka

The leader of the Andro Garrison. In the magazines and manga, his real name is Benoit, an Andro People who's father performed a Heroic Sacrifice to save Zoffy by giving the Ultra the Cosmo Tector, dying in the black hole in the Ultra's place. After his fight against the Guar Army cyborgs, Zoffy gave Benoit his father's Cosmo Tector and the name Andro Melos.

In the Tokusatsu miniseries, Andro Melos becomes the leader of Andro Garrison and lead their fight against the Guar Army's invasion force. His proof of leadership lies on the medal he wears on his left chest, given to him by Zoffy. To fight against Guar, Melos decided to obtain the Grantector for the upcoming Final Battle.

After years of Andro Melos media and its protagonists getting overshadowed by even more popular instalments of Ultra Series, Andro Melos finally returned in Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy as a member of the Galaxy Rescue Force, apparently obtaining a Field Promotion by retiring from his position as a leader of the Andro Garrison.

  • Armor of Invincibility: The Grantector that Melos wears in the final battle against Guar was to keep up with the villain's absolute power.
  • Battle Boomerang: His Double Saber, made from Neo Cosmo Steel metal and forged in the same shape as Eye Slugger.
  • Double Weapon: The Double Lancer weapon is made by transforming the Double Saber boomerang into a bladed pole arm on both ends.
  • Field Promotion: As revealed in Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy, Melos had since left his position and leadership in the Andro Garrison to pursue a promotion in the Galaxy Rescue Force.
  • The Leader: Of Andro Garrison.
  • Legacy Character: The original owner of Andro Melos' Cosmo Tector was Caesar, his father, who gave it to Zoffy at the expense of his own life to save the Ultra from a black hole. Zoffy made the Andro Melos alias to further hide his identity and once he gave the armor to Caesar's son, Benoit, he also gave the name as well.
  • Tragic Keepsake: His father died giving the Cosmo Tector to Zoffy so that the Ultra can live in his place. Benoit inherited his father's armor after Zoffy gave it to Caesar's son.

    Andro Wolf

Voice actor: Kenyū Horiuchi

A red-colored Andro Warrior who appears alongside Zoffy when he was the first Andro Melos, fighting against an army of cyborg Guar Army.

In the series proper, he is the second Melos' partner and is also The Lancer to the team.

  • Bash Brothers: In the magazines, he and the first Andro Melos were partners in fighting the cyborg armies of the Guar Army.
  • Battle Boomerang: The Sword U, a pair of them hang on his Cosmo Tector's shoulders for easy storage.
  • Red Herring: Pun aside, in the magazine, he was originally mislead as Ultraseven in disguise. This was disproven after the real Seven appear, as well as the first Andro Melos revealing himself as Zoffy.
  • Red Is Heroic: He is as heroic as his red Cosmo Tector.

    Andro Mars

Andro Mars

Voice actor: Shinya Otaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/andro_mars.jpg
The muscle of the Andro Garrison team.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He is prideful of his super strength, since he can win in a one against three people of tug of war battle.
  • Finishing Move: Cosmo Bazooka; he fires a beam from his right arm.
  • Mighty Glacier: Easily the strongest of the four, being able to defeat them in a one vs three tug of war (him vs Melos, Wolf and Frol).
  • Small Name, Big Ego: For someone named Mars, that is relatively normal, but he has a huge ego compared to the other Andro Warriors.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The first few episodes has him dashing to fight Dakumiran and Mold in a tug of war, only to least expect the Guar Army's cheat in the game.

    Andro Flor

Andro Flor

Voice actress: Kumiko Mizukura

The Smurfette Principle of the group.

  • Action Girl: She is not only a princess, but also a fighter in the battlefield if she were sent into action.
  • Barrier Warrior: Flor Barrier; an ability displayed only by the royal bloodline of Andro People.
  • Blinded by the Light: Flor Spark, used to stun Gina.
  • Damsel in Distress: She was once restrained by Gina and Fighting Bem Bazelia in a certain planet, forcing her to use her telepathic link to call Melos to rescue her.
  • Light Is Good: Flor's Cosmo Tector is colored white and is used to further indicate her allegiance as a hero.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Flor is actually a princess of the royal Andro family. Her royalty is proven through the ability to create defensive barrier, which is only possessed by descendants of her family.
  • Sharing a Body: In the manga adaptation, Andro Flor had merged with a female human named Kei Miyuki, who was on the run from Gina's human form.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only female member.
  • Wings Do Nothing: Subverted. Flor has a pair of wings on her Cosmo Tectors. They don't serve any purpose as Andro People are generally capable of flying on their own, but she use it to send a telepathic link to Melos and co. when she was captured by Gina.

    Andro Ares

Andro Ares

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultraman_taiga_andro_ares_render_by_zer0stylinx_ddhmwrk_fullview.png

Voice actor: Katsumi Fukuhara

A new member of the Andro Garrison, who was recruited at some point after the end of the series. Ares appeared exclusively in episodes 13 to 15 of Ultraman Taiga Voice Drama, where he has a history with the titular Ultra in their past.

  • The Ace: Despite being far younger than the other Andro heroes in terms of experience, he is a competent fighter on his own right. Its also the reason why Melos ultimately left the Andro Garrison, as he began to be supplanted by not only Ares but other younger and more capable fighters.
  • The Ghost: He gets mentioned by Melos and Taiga in episode 8 of Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy.
  • Guns Akimbo: Ares' fight style involves using his pair of guns. It also doubles as...
  • I Work Alone: Taiga was just happened to be on Planet Maijii when the Guar Army announced their attack and Andro Ares dispatched to fight them. Despite Taiga's insistence to join the battle, Ares told the young warrior to stay behind.
  • Morph Weapon: His guns can also transform into a pair of daggers for close combat.
  • Mythology Gag: In one of the many shots in episode 14 of Tri-Squad Voice Drama, Ares' eyes momentarily blinks. This is a reference to those Early-Installment Weirdness in the Showa Era Andro Warriors having shining yellow eyes, before the Andro Melos miniseries render them as blank visors.
  • One-Man Army: Taiga's encounter with Ares proved that the Andro warrior is more than a capable fighter than he was as a rookie, evidenced by Ares moping the floor against Imbeeza's goons.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He wears a purple Cosmo Tector, and is also a One-Man Army against a team of cyborgs.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: In a sense; Ares called Taiga the "Hero of Light", which is generally a term applied to Ultra Warriors. Taiga adopted the term as his personal Red Baron title.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: His Cosmo Magnum guns have Twin Edge Mode that turn into a pair of daggers.

Allies of Andro Garrison

    Alien Ape "Elpa"

Alien Ape "Elpa"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erupa_1.jpg

Voice actor: Shigeru Chiba

A resident of Planet Ape and Wolf's friend. He works for the Galactic Peace Federation and also had a friend who was killed by the Guar Army, explaining his insistence to help the Andro Garrison in their campaign against the evil faction.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: His manga adaptation was brainwashed into the pilot of Gyeronia in against the Andro Garrison's Andro Boat.
  • Casting Gag: His voice actor Shigeru Chiba previously voiced Monki, the Science Guard Party's pet monkey in The☆Ultraman.
  • Cool Sword: His weapon.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Alien Ape, as his race is an alien primate if that's not obvious.
  • Light Is Good: His race's fur is white, and he is friends with one of the Andro Warriors.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Be it the live action miniseries or the manga adaptation, Elpa was killed due to the Guar Army's involvement.
  • Taking the Bullet: The live action miniseries has Elpa sacrificing himself to be killed by Juda after covering for Wolf.

    Zoffy

Zoffy/Andro Melos (I)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/16fe2cacddb81d680646e28c2f101ec7.jpg
The original holder of the Andro Melos. At some point after Ultraman 80 ended, Zoffy was attacked by an Ace Killer, who proceed to throw him into a black hole. He was rescued by an Andro People named Caesar, who took the former's place in dying within the black hole while Zoffy made it out safely with his armor, adopting the alias Andro Melos.

As Melos, Zoffy would be joined by Andro Wolf in fighting against the Guar Army's cyborg battalions and eventually relinquishing the armor and identity to Caesar's son, Benoit. Zoffy was also responsible for the foundation of Andro Garrison for the similarly peace-loving Andro People to fight and preserve peace in outer space.

For tropes pertaining to Zoffy in general, see here.

  • All There in the Manual: His exploits and experience as the first Andro Melos was in the printed medias and not the live action miniseries itself.
  • Bash Brothers: He had this dynamic in the magazine alongside Andro Wolf.
  • Faking the Dead: As Andro Melos, he had faked his death to ensure that the news of him surviving Ace Killer's assassination didn't get the Guar Army's attention.
  • The Ghost: Indirect example; he is absent in the entire Andro Melos miniseries, but was mentioned (not in-name) by the narrator to be the one who rewarded the next Andro Melos, Benoit, with the badge on his left chest.
  • Secret Identity: "Andro Melos" in the magazine and manga was just an alias used by Zoffy in Caesar's Cosmo Tector to keep the charade of his death a secret.

Guar Army

    As a whole
  • Brother–Sister Team: The ruling members, Juda, Mold and Gina.
  • Cyborgs: The magazine revealed that these kind of grunts are their original Mooks, but the miniseries made it even more diverse with Fighting Bems as Monster of the Week and Monster Battleship.
  • The Empire: The full name of this team is Guar Empire Invasion Army.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: For the siblings, Juda, Mold and Gina are surprisingly care for each others and neither are abusive to one another. Considering that the three are needed to form Guar, this is rather justified.
  • Mouth of Sauron: Juda, Mold and Gina are the closest thing the members of Guar Army get to refer as their leaders, as the real ruler, Guar, was never shown. Little did they know that the siblings are Guar's Literal Split Personality.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The siblings and Guar are all red eyes.
  • Supervillain Lair: The entirety of Planet Guar is their main base of operations.

    Guar

Guar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/guar_full.png
The true ruling figure of the Guar Army, who's was never been seen even by his subjects as most of his orders were delivered by Juda, Mold and Gina. Near the end of Andro Melos, he was revealed to have been the three siblings' combined form, and they assumed it to fight the Andro Garrison in the Final Battle.

  • Ambiguous Situation: He is a fusion resulted from Juda, Mold and Gina, but Andro Melos' words imply that Guar was already a sapient being on his own, and those three siblings were his Literal Split Personality.
  • Blow You Away: He is capable of summoning winds through Storm Attack.
  • Eldritch Abomination: In the manga adaptation, Guar is said to be a space amoeba grows infinitely and can endanger the entire space.
  • He Who Must Not Be Seen: Guar appears silhouetted in episode 9 and physically debuted in the last two episodes.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: His final fate; he was killed when Melos stabbed the monster with his weapon.
  • Light Is Not Good: He is nowhere as benevolent as his white color.
  • Final Boss: Of the miniseries as a whole.
  • Fusion Dance: The spirits of Juda, Mold and Gina came to form Guar after their deaths by the Andro Warriors in the miniseries.
  • Multiple Head Case: The heads of Juda, Mold and Gina are displayed, but Guar's true face is on his chest.
  • Villain Ball: In the final battle, Guar lured the Grantector-wearing Andro Melos into his specialized dimension, which could reduce his powers and increase the villain's powers, supposedly turning the fight's battle to Guar's advantage. It didn't work because the Grantector supplied Melos with a dozen times of his original strength, thus the dimension did nothing to de-power the hero and Guar was defeated after that.

    Juda

Juda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/juda_97.png

Voice actor: Shojiro Kihara

The youngest ruling member of the Guar Army. In addition to the Andro Melos media, Juda had also fought the Ultra Brothers in the film Ultraman Story.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: He is the youngest of the Guar siblings, Mold being the oldest and Gina is the middle child.
  • Bling of War: His golden armor, which is similarly worn by Mold. The only way to tell these two apart are their helmets and capes.
  • Breakout Villain: Out of the siblings, Juda was more popular due to his direct involvement against the Ultras, hence he appear a lot more in stage shows even before Ultra Fight Victory.
  • Cool Sword: The Bat Caliber, his sole weapon.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: The Kanji on his head is the letter for "King". He is one of the rulers of Guar Army.
  • Horned Humanoid: His horns are visibly longer than mold.
  • Meaningful Name: Juda gets his name from the Biblical figure Judah.
  • Multiple-Choice Past: There is quite a continuity error happening with Juda. Andro Melos has him being one of the ruling figures of Guar Army with Mold and Gina. In Ultraman Story, he is a living space distortion that wanted to expand his power. Only the lore in Andro Melos was adapted into future instalments.
  • Sword Beam: His Bat Caliber can shoot sparks and armor-piercing knife, hence why Andro Wolf was hurt in the first episode.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His armor is adorned with golden spikes.

    Mold

Mold

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mold.png

Voice actor: Shingo Kanemoto

The oldest of the siblings and their direct leader.

  • Avenging the Villain: He is visibly furious over the death of one of his servant, Fighting Bem Shizurun. When he's the only one out of his siblings to survive, Mold launched his attack on Andro Melos and co. to avenge them.
  • Benevolent Boss: Even in the evil Gua Army, Mold treated his subject nicely. It also expands to Ultraman X when he berated Gina for whipping their servants over their captive's escape.
  • Dark Is Evil: He holds this title with Juda for their almost similar armor, but Mold further plays the trope straight with his black helmet and armor.
  • Horned Humanoid: Like Juda, Mold also has a pair of horns, but his were shorter.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His armor sported these, having shared his armor with Juda.

    Gina

Gina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gina_0.png

Voice actress: Kyoko Oguma

The middle child and lone woman in the siblings.
  • Archenemy: She and Andro Flor had quite a rivalry against each others. Of course, Flor was the one to kill Gina before she joined Juda and Mold as Guar.
  • The Baroness: Her use of whips only added the presence of a dominatrix to the Guar Army.
  • Dark Action Girl: The only woman in the sibling and is highly dangerous in the battlefield.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Her restraining Andro Flor and delivering several lashes may inappropriately looked like the two were engaging in a hardcore BDSM, in a television show for children.
  • Human Disguise: In Ultra Super Legend manga adaptation of Andro Melos, Gina assumed a young woman in black hair to assassinate Kei Miyuki, Andro Flor's human host on Earth. She quickly drops the form after revealing herself, appearing in her true form while maintaining human size.
  • Light Is Not Good: Her armor is noticeably silver and brighter in contrast to her brothers' main color of black, while being as villainous as the two.
  • Lightning Lash: Her Bat Whip emits an electromagnetic wave to empower her hits.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: She is fond of doing the "ohohoho" haughty laughter that is connected to arrogant female characters.
  • Reptiles Are Abhorrent: Her main Animal Motifs is snake, and it shows with her cobra head and tail on her back.
  • Sizeshifter: The manga has her assuming a human form.
  • The Smurfette Principle: To the Guar Army as a whole.
  • Whip of Dominance: Gina is a domineering villainess whose custom weapon is a Bat Whip. She used it to whip her henchmen for their failures and as a weapon against the Andro Defense Force.
