Amazingly Embarrassing Parents in Fan Works.

Crossovers
  • The Bridge (MLP):
    • Azusa Gojo is usually the wise, kindly, adoptive mother of Godzilla Junior. When she starts cheekily complimenting Junior's friendship and small Ship Tease with Luna, it runs right into this.
    • Rainbow Dash's mother talks to her like she's a toddler in front of her friends, and freely jokes about the time she got her flight suit all sweaty.
  • Child of the Storm has several examples:
    • When he decides to wind up his son Harry, Thor can be very embarrassing. For example, he once cheerfully told him (after a Sleep Cute with his very-definitely-not-girlfriend Carol) that he hoped they wouldn't make him a grandfather until they were both eighteen at least. Poor Harry ballparks between "oh god, dad, why?" and "I hate you so much." Previously, in chapter 77 of the first book, Thor had stated that they made a lovely Battle Couple... in the middle of a pitched battle. In chapter 43 of the sequel, when Harry refers back to that battle, Thor then snarks that it wasn't a battle, but a first date. Cue another wail of teenage embarrassment.
    • Jack O'Neill - yes, that Jack O'Neill - keeps trying to be a tough, go-getting, and snarky badass. Unfortunately, he keeps getting upstaged by his mother, Alison 'Ali' Carter, younger sister (actually daughter of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter) of Peggy Carter.
  • The Dragon and the Bow: Fishlegs's mom, Ribbon Ingerman, was in the stands waving enthusiastically to her son. Much to his humiliation, especially when she makes herself "presentable" in front of Princess Merida.
  • The Dragon and the Butterfly: Whiteout: Karla seems to find Hiccup's methods of pampering dragons — like belly-rubbing Catastrophic Quakens with his whole body — rather embarrassing.
  • ''The Force Is Not A Quirk!: Padme and Anakin are this for Ahsoka, despite being only her guardians (both on paper and in reality), during the Sports Festival. Orange face paint, giant foam fingers, foam hats that resemble her montrals...
Narration: Ahsoka gripped her own head in her hands and fought the urge to scream.
  • Hero Academia D×D: Both Izuku and Rias suffer from this.
  • Mischief: Loki and Inko can embarrass their son Izuku at times, getting particularly bad about this during the Sports Festival when they get... a little overzealous about showing their support. Denki also deals with this from his parents, particularly Thor.
  • Mœbius has Mami and Homura get adopted by Urahara at the end of the story. The next story in the universe, Drives Me Crazy shows that Urahara has taken to being an embarrassing parent with gusto. Kyoko, who was also adopted, is comparatively immune because she isn't in school and thus his antics won't come back to torment her later.
  • The Monkey D. Haru Series: Unsurprisingly, Franky. Whenever his son Nico Tom points this out, Franky bursts into tears, collapses into his wife's arms, and wails about his son doesn't love him.
  • In My Huntsman Academia, Inko's public displays of affection for Izuku have made her a minor celebrity in Mountain Glenn, as she will toss aside trained Huntsman to get to her son when she's feeling emotional. She calls him her baby in front of his friends, bawls when she learns that his Semblance breaks his fingers, and harangues Port for releasing live Grimm in class. It's mostly Played for Laughs, but it's Played for Drama when Izuku neglects to tell her that he's started dating Yang. She's devastated when she learns about this and accuses Izuku of thinking her too embarrassing to introduce to his new girlfriend.
  • A Possible Encounter for a Phantom: Nonnie Rockweller is revealed to be much nicer than her daughters, and rather oblivious to just how nasty they can get. She also doesn't see anything wrong with showing just how much she loves her daughters in public, like calling Bonnie "Bon-Bon" in front of all her classmates and friends, much to Bonnie's dismay.
  • The Pros and Cons to living a triple life: Kairi's parents, who have been shipping her with Sora for over a decade, can slip into this when talking about her relationship.
Kairi: Mom, Dad, this is Makoto Niijima, our student council president. She came by today because there are rumours at school that me and Naminé are living together with Sora and Riku.
Tai: Aw shucks. And here I thought you were calling to tell me I was going to be a grandpa...
Kairi: (face goes from controlled confidence to scarlet hysteria in 0.2 seconds) DAD! I'M SIXTEEN!

Amphibia

  • Confessions has a case involving an honorary grandparent. Anne balks at the prospect of discussing her feelings for Sasha with Hop Pop for fear of him giving her "something gross like relationship advice". When the matter finally does come up, he offers her geniunely sound advice, though he gets to the embarrassing bits later.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Calvin and Hobbes

The DCU

  • Sorrowful and Immaculate Hearts: In "Christmas in Kansas", Clark Kent invites Bruce and Diana home for Christmas, and his mother shamelessly tells them a string of embarrassing stories about Clark's childhood.

Discworld

  • In the Discworld of A.A. Pessimal, Johanna Smith-Rhodes considers one of the depressingly few perks of being a mother of teenage girls is the ability to leave them mortified and embarrassed at fairly regular intervals. She aces this by going out minge-drinking with fellow mothers of her daughter's teenage friends. Much to their squirming mortification. Meanwhile Bekki's father, wizard Ponder Stibbons, is capable of getting absurdly over-protective and has a hard time adjusting to his little girl growing up.

Disney Animated Canon

  • When Did I Become a Parent?: Timon feels this way about his mother, as she has a tendency to make remarks that he finds deeply inappropriate and make everyone uncomfortable. Especially when she's wondering when he's going to find himself a mate.

Dragon Ball

  • Dragon Ball Z Abridged: King Cold is this to Frieza.
Trunks: If you want a Super Sayian, I can fill the part.
Frieza: Oh, you hear that, daddy? "I can fill the part". It's like a five-year-old trying to play police officer.
King Cold: Or how you play Pretty Pink Princess?
Frieza: Daddy! Not in front of the malcontent!
King Cold: But it's so cute when you do it!
Frieza: I haven't done that since I was eight-eight-eight-eight-my Quinceañera!
  • Dragon Ball Z Elsewhere: Frieza is embarrassed when King Cold challenges Olibu to a Pec Flex competition, and doubly so when King Cold loses. Moreover because Cold is utterly amazed by Olibu's Heroic Build.

Final Fantasy

  • In The Tainted Grimoire, Ensei is this sometimes, like when he eats so much food at public restaurants which usually earns stares from everyone else. His daughter Kanin is unhappy about this.

Fruits Basket

  • Jimmy Michaels of Jimmy & Kyo has a particularly bad case. Just mentioning his mom's occupation is enough to embarrass him to death. So what does she do? She's a Romance Novelist! It's hinted his older brother Scott is just as embarrassed.

Gargoyles

  • My Big Fat Gargoyle Wedding: Hudson, Princess Katherine, Patience and Ayala are all more than happy to share embarrassing stories about their respective children with anyone who's willing to listen.

Harry Potter

  • In The Art of Binge Eating, Narcissa Malfoy reads Ron and Hermione a bad love poem Draco wrote about Harry. When Draco throws it in the fire shortly after she begins, she comments that she has several more copies of that and the others.
  • Daphne Greengrass and the Boy Who Lived sees Daphne's parents show up to the Quidditch World Cup obeying the rule to dress like muggles by dressing like eighties punk rockers.
  • In Family is Everything, Sally tells about Harry and Percy wrestling in the rain as three-year-olds while driving in the car with them, Annabeth and Thalia.
  • In Fancy Seeing You Here, Sirius and Harry's father deliberately show up during his first date with Ginny, tell embarrassing stories and show baby pictures of him.
  • For The Greater Goof: Molly Weasley sends her sons Fred and George a Howler letter with a twofold purpose: after the letter finishes yelling at them for how reckless they were, it starts gushing about how proud their parents are of them for exposing two Dark wizards on the same day. Fred and George are "mortally embarrassed" about the letter yelling all that for everyone in the Great Hall to hear, but receive a round of applause from their peers regardless.
  • In A Lion and His Cub, Mrs. Weasley cheerfully shares stories of her children's first Christmases, mentioning the time Bill crawled up the tree and almost set his diaper on fire with the candles while he hides his face in his hands.

Haruhi Suzumiya

  • The Coin:
    • When Haruhi disappears from her house, her father goes over to Kyon's house under the assumption that she snuck over there. Kyon is mortified that his not-girlfriend's father is telling him that this behavior is perfectly healthy, but he still wants to see his daughter. Haruhi, who actually teleported over to Yuki's place, is no help whatsoever.
    • Later, when Kyon and Haruhi actually go on a date, her mother tries to get her into a Magical Girl costume with wings and gives her embarrassing advice.
"Don't forget, Haruhi," said Mother, "the Person Just For You doesn't ask to press your special button on the first date."
Are you serious, Mother? I'm not Kyon's magical robot girlfriend!
...though it's a bit scary to realize only one of those words doesn't fit.

Horizon

  • In Choosing Life Verse, Elisabet seems to take no small amount of satisfaction teasing Aloy on her crush on Ikrie, and later Telanah.

Infinity Train

Invader Zim

The Loud House

  • Boys and Girls has Lori cringe at the thought of being chaperoned to a date by one's mother.

Miraculous Ladybug

Misfile

  • In Misfiled Dreams, Ash's mother Marie joins in on the action when she cheerfully explains to her daughter the various pros and cons of a ménage à trois. And then mentions that she's had three-ways with a man and another woman, as well as with two other girls.

My Hero Academia

  • In Amazing Fantasy, Inko and Hisashi Midoriya were apparently Former Teen Rebels and Izuku pledges to never look into their history out of fear of discovering something nasty. He's also mortified by his dad's casual wardrobe and quickly tosses it out to Peter without regrets.
  • Crimson and Emerald: In order to distract their interns from asking too many questions about Izuku's Quirk, Kiyome weaponizes this by sharing embarrassing stories about when Hawks was a toddler.
  • Dirty Little Secrets: While they love him, Shinso's parents also like to share stories about his crushes and embarrassing childhood nickname.
  • The Future Briefing Island: Momo is the daughter of Midnight here, and is repeatedly mortified by her mother's antics.
  • One for All and Eight for the Ninth: Not only does Ochako's father proudly talk about the idea of her marrying Izuku, he jokes about the possibility of both of them marrying Momo as well. Both are so mortified that they wind up fleeing the scene while his wife Dope Slaps him.
  • Such a Doting Father is set in an AU where Endeavor and Rei Todoroki really are Happily Married, and turns both of them into this for their child Shouto.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • Aftermath of the Games:
    • In Integration, Flash Sentry's mother is one for him due to her obsession to have grandchildren. She even stole the spark plugs to Flash's car to try to get Princess Twilight to spend the night at their house. Flash came to terms with his mother being crazy years ago.
    • Princess Celestia, serving as a Parental Substitute for both Twilight and Sunset, Trolls them starting to tell Flash, Twilight's current boyfriend and Sunset's ex, embarrassing stories about the two girls when they were fillies.
  • Bitter Tears: An Anon-A-Miss Fic: While reminiscing about their past relationship, Sunset recalls an incident where Flash's car broke down during a date, forcing him to call his mother for a lift. His mother showed up wearing nothing but a skimpy nightdress and visible thong, much to Flash's dismay.
  • Changeling Courtship Rituals: Twilight's mother sees absolutely nothing wrong with asking her children about their sex lives, especially in the sequel.
  • The Great Alicorn Hunt: Rainbow Dash's parents gleefully recount the "Iddle Binky" incident to Scootaloo, much to thier daughter's dismay.
  • A Moon and World Apart: Vinyl's parents, Canter Rhythm and Arpeggio Chorus. Within minutes of meeting Octavia (who has known Vinyl all of two days at this point), they start talking about her and Vinyl's future kids and suggesting they not get intimate on the couch while everypony else is out of the room. Vinyl's horribly embarrassed by their words and promptly apologizes to Octavia for it.

Naruto

  • The Hyuga family in A Growing Affection. Hiashi has Hinata wanting to move out after he goes to both Tsunade and Naruto to try to get Naruto to stop training with her. After he defrosts, he is just as embarrassed when his own father does the same thing.
  • Kushina in Kitsune no Ken: Fist of the Fox is this for Naruto, especially when combined with her tendency to snark about his relationships with girls. And there's also her fan-girl attitude toward the in-universe comic book series Shadow Fox, including having a cosplay costume, which causes Naruto to do a double-take the first time he sees her wearing it while she's cooking dinner.
  • Naru-Hina Chronicles: The first time Temari comes over for a family dinner with Shikamaru's family, all the photo albums come out. Shikaku is understanding of Shikamaru's plight, but knows better than to cross his wife.
  • Son of the Sannin: In this story, Naruto gets to meet the spirits of both his parents at the same time, when he undergoes the training to tame Kurama and to help him even more, Hinata left him a part of her own chakra, meaning that Minato and Kushina get to meet their son's girlfriend. Kushina can't pass the opportunity to be this:
Kushina: I mean, look at you! You're a Jonin at sixteen, who just tamed the most powerful tailed beast in existence, and most importantly, you have a cute girlfriend!
Naruto: (blushing) Uh, drop it, Mom. You're making Hinata feel embarrassed.
Kushina: (raising an eyebrow) Just Hinata?
  • Team 8: Shino's mother Misato deliberately invoke this the first time he brings his teammates Naruto and Hinata over to visit. As she points out, he's never brought any friends over before, so she "has a lot of time to make up for."

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • Advice and Trust: Misato loves embarrassing her wards Shinji and Asuka (although to be fair, they have it coming most of the time). After telling them they're allowed to sleep together as long as they have no sex again until they're at least fifteen, Misato demands details about their sex life:
She grinned and looked at Asuka. "So... does he 'berserk' in bed?"
    Asuka's jaw dropped. "What?!"
"You've been 'entangling your AT-Fields' for weeks. Having fun? Enjoy 'firing the Positron Cannon'?"
"Misato, what the Hell happened to 'we're too young for this'?!" Asuka was turning red. Shinji was turning red faster.
Misato just grinned wider. She finished the beer, tossed the can at the recycling bin, and grabbed another. "The cat's out of the bag, we just finished the official business part, and now it's time for your big sis Misato to embarrass the Hell out of you both. I get my payback."
  • While Misato's teasing in Neon Metathesis Evangelion is mostly Played for Laughs like in most fics, things come to a head when a drunk Misato talks too much about the planned nude synch test and teases the pilots about it. Asuka outright insults her and storms off.
  • Discussed in The Second Try when Asuka and Shinji talk about throwing a birthday party for Aki so they can embarrass her in a few years with the photos. Fortunately for Aki, the pictures were left behind when they all got sent back in time.

Pokémon

  • Pokémon Reset Bloodlines: Delia downplays this aspect compared to her canon anime self, at least with Ash. However, she gets to play the part for Misty, telling her to call her mom, and giving her a box (all but stated to be something for sexual relationships) that leaves Misty extremely mortified.
  • Return of the Hero: Kelly is this to Nate when she calls Rosa his girlfriend and shows off the stuffed Teddiursa he had when he was five. According to a flashback, she was also this on his first day of Trainer School, when she called him her "little Teddiursa".

RWBY

  • White Sheep: Jaune's mother Salem openly babies him, calls him "sweetiekins" in front of his friends, and is quick to bring out the baby pictures. Of course, this is all rather surreal since she's the millennia-old Queen of the Grimm who has been trying to wipe out humanity for all of recorded history.

A Song of Ice and Fire

  • In The Westerosi, Sarella Sand wants to disappear when her father begins to loudly and publicly ask Jade Hasegawa about whether she and Sarella are having sex or not.

Splatoon

  • Scrub Daddy, the made-up lyrics for a song in Splatoon, seems to be about a clumsy father and someone, unable to take it anymore, requesting him to go away:
    The dad's dropping chilled wood.
    I cannot do this.
    Please daddy leave this.
    Scrub daddy's kept up.
    Pleased to be going.

Star Trek

  • The Wrong Reflection: Eleya's mother asking her 29-year-old daughter if she and Gaarra are being safe. In the middle of her sister's wedding reception.
    Eleya and Teri: Mother!

Steven Universe

  • Rose Redemption AU: Rose proves to be a bit smothering in her efforts to make up for lost time, constantly referring to Steven as her baby and holding him every chance she gets. Around Connie, this becomes quite deliberately embarrassing at times.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

  • The Chronicles of Karai Getting Her Shit Together: When the turtles ask why Splinter had such a strong fascination with turtles when he drew them in his youth, he remarked that he found them cute. When they asked him if he thought that of them, he says that he still thinks that and offers to break out the baby pictures just to mess with them.
  • In Heroes in the Shadows, when Yoshi accompanies Donatello and Raphael to the doctor, he does so in a t-shirt saying "#1 Dad" that Michelangelo got him much to their embarrassment.

Total Drama

  • Total Drama Legacy has Sierra, who never hesitates to embarrass her son Cody Jr.
Sierra: Welcome back to the brand-new and, as my son would put it, "totally yeet" Total Drama Legacy aftermath show!
Cody Jr.: Mooooom! You’re using that word wrong! "Yeet" is not an adjective, it's an interjection.
  • Unbreakable Red Silken Thread: Jasmine's parents, as well as her family at large, to the point that her reaction to them meeting her friends is described as "honest-to-god-fright".

Zootopia

  • In Never Say Goodbye, Nick introduces Judy to his son, Nick Jr. Nick Jr. can't help but whine "DAAD!!" while blushing in embarrassment when his father nuzzles and hugs him while describing him as "the little piece of me that I gave to this world."
