Duel 11-12: The Wild Gang
Yugi: I am shown getting on the bus to school one more time. But nothing important happens until I find out Jonouchi is missing. Fanfic writers take note, my standard arrival time is 8:20 A.M.
(classroom)
Honda: Jonouchi never skips class! It's where he gets all his sleep!
Anzu: It's kind of lonely without him to mock.
Honda: Let's all drop by his place after school. I know where he lives, and what he did last summer.
(run-down apartment building)
Honda: While I've known Jonouchi since middle school, I've hardly ever been to his place, and only inside once.
(knocks)
(no answer)
Honda: Hey, it's unlocked. Looting time!
(beer bottle hits the door)
Jonouchi's Father: Dadblast it, punk! Where you been the last two days? I need you to make a booze run for me. Dang wife, running off with the good kid and leaving me with the moron....
Honda, Yugi, Anzu: Run away!
Honda: And that's why Jonouchi never invites us over.
Yugi: Let's look somewhere else.
(much searching)
Anzu: Nope, nothing.
Honda: You guys should go home, it's getting dark here in the bad part of town.
Thug: It's time to pay the sidewalk tax, wimp.
Wimp: Please don't hurt me.
Honda: Those thugs are wearing the Rintama High uniform. I hear that school's so mean you have to kick a puppy to get in the door. Let's avoid them.
Yugi: That might be a problem, given that Jonouchi is over there.
Honda: Why is he with those guys? Has he forgotten our "special relationship?"
Hirutani: Let's go to our hideout, which we call "J'z." It's just down the street from the H'd R'k C'e.
Yugi: Jonouchi! Whatcha doin', huh, Jonouchi? It's me, your friend!
Specks: You know this kid, Jonouchi?
Jonouchi: Me? Naw. I would never be seen with wimps. Really.
Yugi: Jonouchi, it's me, Yugi!
Hirutani: You have grown weak, Jonouchi. Come join us at Rintama, the school of The Dark Side. My lack of eyebrows commands you.
Honda: Wait, that's Jonouchi's old "friend", Hirutani! But I thought they broke up!
Yugi: Shane! Er, Jonouchi! Come baack!
Specks: Like the toady I am, I shall curry favor with the boss by beating up the little kid.
Jonouchi: Must...control...fist of death.
Specks: Oh, and kid, your haircut sucks.
Yugi: Say it ain't so, Jonouchi....
Anzu: Jonouchi, you're a bad person!
Jonouchi: Even though Anzu's speech cuts me deeply, I must remain silent.
(playground)
Anzu: It's a good thing we're cartoon characters, so you heal quickly, Yugi.
Honda: Back in junior high, Jonouchi was in a gang with Hirutani, and they lived to fight other gangs. Even high school gangs. Jonouchi had a long police record, and barely escaped going to jail. But he protected the younger kids, and never fought anyone weaker than he was. I looked up to him a lot. But I thought he broke up with Hirutani so me and him could be together. What if he's...not coming back?
Yugi: My Millennium Puzzle says that Jonouchi hasn't changed. He's still a good person.
Honda: You're right, Jonouchi may not be smart, but he knows who his friends are. Let's go fetch him back.
(outside J'z, a defunct walk-down nightclub)
Honda: There's one of the Rintama guys now. I can easily take just one.
Flunky: Where am I going to find any "Marie Juanita" cigarettes? I sure wish Hirutani smoked a local brand like the rest of us.
Honda: Tell me why Jonouchi is hanging with you!
Flunky: Uhh, he wants to?
Honda: Wrong answer!
(inside J'z)
Hirutani: Welcome, Jonouchi. Soon, everything will be as it was in the good old days. Rolling hoops, playing stickball, armed robbery....
Specks: Soon, we might even be able to take those kids over at Sarayashiki Junior High. Hey, boss, have some of my smokes.
Jonouchi: (glare)
Specks: You lookin' at me, punk?
Flunky (voiceover): Hirutani's been getting the band back together, trying to build a gang to take over the city. But Jonouchi didn't want to play.
Jonouchi: (glare)
Specks: Whatcha thinkin' about, Jonouchi? Your boyfriend?
Flunky (voiceover): So Hirutani told Jonouchi that for each day he refused, our gang would send one of his classmates to the hospital. Brilliant plan. You're not going to hit me now, right? Oh darn.
Jonouchi: That tears it, Specks. (He whacks the thug.)
Hirutani: Finally, some violence! But I like it better when the gang beats other people up. Starting with you, Jonouchi.
(outside)
Honda, Yugi and Anzu: Let's go!
(Cliffhanger!)
(J'z)
(Jonouchi faces off against Hirutani, Spikes, Greasy, Big and Other. He does pretty well until Big gets in a lucky shot from behind.)
Hirutani: Take him to...the torture chamber!
(they leave)
Honda: You'd better let me go in alone.
Yugi: But it's starting to rain out here.
Honda: I really don't want you to see me dismembering people.
(he enters)
Honda: Heere's Johnny!
(silence)
Honda: Geez, tough room. Only one guy here, and he's got Jonouchi's fist print on his jaw.
(outside, rain)
Honda: Judging by the condition of the room, there was a struggle. Either that, or they forgot to pay the cleaning lady.
Anzu: Let's split up to make it easier for the monster to take us out one by one. Oh, sorry, that's the horror movie script.
Honda: If you find anything, come back and get me. Under no circumstances rely on mysterious powers to take on the gang alone.
Hirutani: You know, seeing you all tied up and bleeding really turns me on, Jonouchi.
Jonouchi: Yeah, I know all about your tastes. Mr. Red Ass.
Hirutani: (glower)
(Spikes and Greasy beat Jonouchi up again)
Hirutani: You've been like that since middle school, always thinking you were my equal. We were beautiful together. We could have ruled. But you have never gotten it through your head. I am the seme, you are the uke.
Jonouchi: You wish. I'm heavy into grudges, guys. I'm going to remember everything you've done, and pay it back double.
Hirutani: I don't think that's going to be a problem.
Greasy: These are 200,000 volt stun guns.
Spikes: And as we all know, electroshock therapy plays havoc with your short-term memory.
Jonouchi: You know, it was really dumb to leave my legs free. (Kicks Spikes.)
(Greasy zaps Jonouchi)
(outside)
Yugi: I know, I'll ask the Millenium Puzzle where Jonouchi is.
Millenium Puzzle: I see all! Head on down to the abandoned warehouse.
(warehouse, which I guess was abandoned because of the leaky roof. Spikes is still unconscious)
Jonouchi: (twitch)
Other: Hey, he finally quit mocking us.
Greasy: Should we stop now? Another go and he'll probably die.
Hirutani: Yes, I know. Do it.
Yami: Stop!
Hirutani: Oh, yes, Jonouchi's little friend. Here...alone. How delightful.
(Big hits Yugi, sending him near Spikes.)
Yami: I'll just tie my Puzzle to this chain in a Rube Goldberg-like setup, then challenge you four to a game.
Thugs: Huh?
Yami: There's a time bomb at your feet, and I've hidden the switch somewhere in this warehouse. If you don't find it in time, BOOM!
Greasy: You didn't have time to hide a bomb. I'll just zap you, and—
Hirutani: No, you idiot! The kid has lured us into the leaking area, and we're standing in a puddle. If we turn on our stun guns, we'll be zapped!
Yami: (fake startle)
Hirutani: Guess we win. All we have to do is beat you up with our bare hands.
Yami: But you didn't find the switch. Observe.
Hirutani: The switch is Spikes' arm, that you've propped up with a live stun gun in it!
Millenium Puzzle: Now would be a good time to drip on Spikes' face, causing him to stir and drop his stun gun into the puddle.
Thugs: Aieee! Unlike Jonouchi, we can't take even one dose of electricity!
Honda and Anzu: Sorry we're late. Did we miss anything?
Yugi: Jonouchi, you're alive!
Jonouchi: Yugiiiiii! Hold me!
