Should we add any of these medical-type Flash games? They seem very graphic for the target audience and could fit here as well.

EDIT: Nevermind, they're already listed.

Do symbols related to Nazi Germany appearing in cartoons also fit under this trope?

Was there a discussion on the trope picture changing? I believe that the "Pingu being slapped by his mother" pictre was more leaning towards the trope, body horror is in any show that aims towards an 7-12 year demographic, like Spongebob. A children's show would not allow parent abuse to be present in any way, shape or form.

In my opinion, I think the Pingu!Abusive Parents picture should stay. I don't know if you will agree but this is from my POV.

Sorry if I broke the rules.

Take it to Image Pickin. Replacing an image unilaterally is frowned upon without IP, but in this case not completely against the rules.

Though I personally prefer the replacement.

For the record, the replacement image is from Watership Down which is not for kids in any way, shape or form, so it's misplaced here anyway.

The "replacement" image is from Gravity Falls... which was then replaced by Watership Down.

What would be a good way to determine whether something is aimed at children or not? It seems "for kids" is pretty subjective on this site.

Should we split this trope into two types? It seems to either be a Getting Crap Past the Radar thing or a Periphery Demographic thing, so I think we should split it into two types, media with adult appeal and media with adult themes or elements aimed at kids.

The first thing (the GCPTR one) isn't this trope at all. But the name sucks and none of the rename attempts was finished.

Are you sure? Half the examples seem to be including adult themes or elements in a work aimed at kids, and the half is media which the older audience wants to pander or appeal to them. Can you elaborate?

This trope has a long running misuse problem - see this old forum topic.

Thanks for that, but still, we should decide which use is the correct one (seriously, the first three paragraphs of the description talks about the periphery demographic, then the others talk about the GCPTR thing) for this trope. Or just split into two types.

The second is the correct type.

Thanks. Guess the other examples should be moved to the periphery demographic page.

The description could be clearer about this. I'm unfamiliar with the trope so I won't try to do it myself.

So can i delete the first two paragraphs? This trope is about GCPTR.

People assume children can't handle anything that's not rainbows and butterflies. The pagequote kinda proves it.

That is kind of a good point. There are certainly things you wouldn't expect to see on kids shows these days (The "booty quake" scene from Sym-Bionic Titan comes to mind), but it's not really that big a deal. I guess some tropers are more...I don't know what the right word is...prudish? Than others.

A lot of the examples in the videogames folder should be on "not for kids". Maybe these two tropes should be renamed to avoid this type of confusion.

I think the Looney Toons Example would fit better in What Do You Mean It's NOT For Kids. The old Looney Toons shorts were originally shown theatrically in front of movies and were intended for older viewers, or at least not aimed specifically at kids. I may add it there, but I honestly don't think it really belongs on the What Do You Mean It's For Kids? page because, well, it's not.
