I’m not sure about this one mate - I’ve read the main trope intro, and I think you’ve made some good points, but the Laconic notes: “An elected official who, for whatever reason, is never removed from office”, which sounds like the person will literally not leave unless forcibly or via their own death. Mrs T and Blair last a long time, but they are not Putin-esque in their grip on power. Just my thoughts :) Lex.
Okay then, I will try to find a trope that fits with the fact that he did achieve a three-victory record...
Thanks
...but Thatcher not only won three elections as well but was in office for longer. So it would be just as well to keep in mind with whatever you try and find for Blair.
Hi mate - I think expanding on Cult of Personality could work here (maybe a second bullet, as the first describes him coming to power, and a second bullet could describe how he retains it?), as despite becoming contentious, Blair still has the 'spark' that carries him to a third term.
The different I see with Thatcher is that she was ousted -by internal dissent-, while Blair was -presumably- able to pass the leadership to Brown as per their previous deal, having a softer landing gives him extra "perennity"... anyways:
What about his (we can avoid Historical Villain Upgrade I think)
- Artistic License – History: The series implies that in 2005 his career was already down in flames, something that tends to happen with all the PMs and was predicted by the Queen Mother. Charles, notes that despite a waning popularity, Blair has a misplaced ambition to become the first Labour PM to win a third successive (and unlikely) term. In reality, Blair still had plenty of political steam and was able to coast towards a comfortable third victory shortly after the end of the show note
Well the majority was comfortable in the Parliament, but narrow in the popular vote

The incomplete results gave Labour 353 seats, the Conservatives 197 and the Liberal Democrats 62. The share of the vote looked much closer, with Labour winning 36% of the national vote against the Tories 33%, and the Liberal Democrats on 22%. That result puts Labour back in office with the lowest share of the vote in British electoral history.
Ambiguous Ending / Uncertain Doom works for me too, we are not told the resolution of all that strife we see in the series against him...
Edited by TrollBrutalThanks for such great additional detail - I think the write up for Artistic License - History is great, and you could also add in Uncertain Doom, as after being booed whilst he's driven away from B. Palace, as you say, we never see Blair again (unlike most other P Ms, who have some form of on-screen exit) as the series ends; to anyone not specifically aware of UK politics, he may as well be being taken away to be arrested! ;)
Edited by lexiiOkay then, I will proceed
I had this written but removed it at the last moment:

The Blairs are shown in the wedding after all, background mostly with rictus in their faces

So, regarding Mr Blair, we seem to have divergences with this
I believe it to be as example as the heir himself wonders how could Blair be thinking about re-election, let alone winning after all that disent... then there is the fact that he viewer knows, or should that he will win a historic 3rd term (with a comfortable if diminshed majority). It is discussed , to a degree, which is not the case for Thatcher If I remember and she is ousted but not by elections (not relevant in the Blair entry, I would say)
In any case, they both could qualify because the series show they are engulfed in controversy but they are not opposed effectively and keep winning, which would go with the spirit of the trope
