Well, for starters, All The Tropes is on Fandom and we're not. They're also run by different people and have different rules and standards.

What different rules and standards? And why was it even created? (sorry idk too much about TV Tropes history/drama)

Hey, that's not a bad thing. I'm interested in wiki-history too, which is why I've gone on deep-dives into old forum threads and the like. It's fascinating.

I agree.

But srsly tho, what is the difference between the 2 sites. It's not like the Lost Media Wiki where the old version is complete trash.

I believe it was split by people who didn't like The Content Policy and the 5P Circuit. Most of their pages are just outdated versions of ours, though Tale Of Two Wastelands was cut because our version was copied from All the Tropes on Miraheze. The examples someone tried to restore to Comedic Underwear Exposure were also copied from ATT.

I guess it was made by people who liked the concept of our site but not the rules or the administration, and so left to make a copycat site?

It has some of the older entries that were deleted. My favorite is Viewers are morons.

It exists solely to preserve things that were cut due to the new content policy. It tried too be an uncensored version of tvt but that fell through

Really? How did it fall through? Also curious about their "uncensored" objective.

^ In a way that it never grew as a wiki but that's not surprising as to why it stalled. And the reason it was created was because some people were upset about the tropes and works that had to be cut because they violated the then newly formed Content policy

Basically, Tvtropes used to be a lot more lax in its standards. There was stuff like Troper Tales, trope names that were in-jokes, a lot more pages on sexual stuff and even outright porn works in some cases.

The administration began weeding a lot of that out (especially when Google started complaining about some of the content on the site), and some people felt very angry about that. The addition of the Content Policy was the straw that broke the camel's back, IIRC. A group of tropers broke off and mass-copypasted as much as they could of Tvtropes to a new wiki, which they called "All The Tropes". They intended that site to be the "true" Tvtropes unburdened by what they considered to be unnecessary rules and regulations.

In any case, that wiki is not under our jurisdiction and has nothing to do with this site or its administration. It's a separate project.

It allows to tropefy porn works and real life examples.

You can actually Natter. That's even in their guide for TV Tropes refugees:

To sum what everyone else has said:

TVT deciding to try and make the wiki come off more professional/academic created a huge Broken Base between the supporters of that new direction and the old veterans of the site that thought doing so killed a lot of the site's charm as a dorky and largely informal playground.

That caused All the Tropes to fork off as an alternative that was intended to be ran in a similar fashion as pre-Google Incident Tvtropes.

In my experience, it's where people who don't bother learning our rules go when they get suspended too many times, after complaining on Reddit about how our mods are power-tripping dictators (because apparently wanting to enforce quality standards is abusive).

At this point, the responses feel less like answering the OP's question and making digs at All the Tropes, which I'd prefer we not do. It is what it is.

I feel we can lock this. The OP's question has been answered multiple times. I'm not sure what else we can add beyond "they forked from us a few years back and maintain less strict standards".
