Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Yep, that one's getting a timeout.
Instead of appealing, jikoh has decided to ban evade.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainBoth accounts have been bounced.
This new account looks suspicious. Similar grammar problems.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainSame page, too...
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMaybe an IP check might work?
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. It's too obvious that it's jikoh's sock. Horrendous grammar and an obsession with the same pages.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainOr it's a meatpuppet. And one thing to remember is that meatpuppets are still different people and can sometimes appeal successfully. Many get roped into editing something without knowing that the other user is banned. A lot do a favor for a friend, but aren't given details.
It's best to do an IP check by default as is. I deal with this as a Smashboards moderator myself quite often. I understand the point of not making assumptions. You'd be surprised what good things can happen if you go by procedure first. I mean, I think it's another sockpuppet too myself, but nobody knows but a Moderator who can actually perform the check.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Mods can read my inbox and check the 2 most recent DMs for damning evidence.
Edited by AnoBakaDesu "They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainLareiz is confirmed as another sock of jikoh. We really need that IPv6 sock detection code...
Ano, please don't undertake sockpuppet reversions until mods have had a chance to investigate and confirm. At the very least, if they are still active, they'll redo their edits and waste your time. Although, in this case, the PM evidence is pretty damning.
Edited by Fighteer "It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Time for a third sock?
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainSomeone named BannedMan who refers to being banned constantly in edit reasons? Nah, couldn't be.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThat's just sad.
Their IPs don't line up with the people previously mentioned but when you out yourself like that...
Edited by Willbyr"And I almost got away for it too, if it weren't for that dumb username and those meddling tropers!"
I'm sorry, I just had to. Ban Evaders are a comedy goldmine sometimes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFighteer did say IPv6 detection code is something to look over.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainThey're not even trying.
Banned and reverted.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGiven the boot.
Gee, do they have any interests besides that specific game? At least it makes them easy to spot...
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessEr, I thought we weren't supposed to give colorful commentary on banned users?
That said, if they change other pages, please also give us a link to that(or their username), Ano Baka Desu. :)
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Hey, I ain't trying to peanut gallery, I'm pointing out a glaring pattern that makes them easy to detect. If a new troper with bad grammar comes and edits only the Honkai pages, it's very likely them.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessBan evaders are not known for their subtlety. You learn their tics and they're easy to catch. I've spotted a particular one twice because of a particular quirk of language they had.
Can we get an IP ban on them?
They are bouncing around from various IP's; it is not a single one.
That being said, this latest has been given the boot.
Edited by nombretomadoWould it be worth putting a lock on the pages they're so obsessed with, at least for a brief period, or is there concern it'd be like that one person who messes up Western Animation pages and they'd just move elsewhere?
It's not really worth locking the pages if it's just a recurring obvious ban evader, when there's a fair number of legit edits everyday. I for one wouldn't want to constantly bother the mods in the Edit Request thread when they can do a system revert against edits from ban evaders.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainAgreed; it's easy enough to remove the edits. BTW, ~Ano Baka Desu, thanks for taking care of that, I wasn't where I could do it.
Edited by WillbyrApologies for the thread necro, but it seems like we finally got another positive on our hands with Eivelga0. According to their edit history, they've been loafing around on Arifureta From Commonplace To Worlds Strongest... until today, where they started touching Honkai Impact 3rd pages, leading me to take a look at their edit history and discover the same kind of chronic grammar issues that the ban evader was guilty of.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainBounced.
jikoh has been editing several pages pertaining to Honkai Impact 3rd for months on end now, but most, if not all, of their edits are littered with horrendous grammar and pothole abuse. I have sent them several notifiers over the months in hopes of redirecting them to the "Get Help With English Here" thread, but they obviously aren't listening.
I don't care if they're not a native English speaker, nor if they contribute to a lot of entries. There is a standard to meet, and jikoh certainly doesn't meet that. It's unfair for tropers like 4tell0life4 to always clean up after their mess, and one of their latest edit reasons, "Edit it greater, please.", doesn't endear them.
