The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
There's also Back for the Dead.
Pretty sure that Back for the Dead is used for non-main characters who've been gone for a while and come back just before being killed.
^ There's situations where it can overlap: Say, Alice was the most prominent of several main characters, but she's been Out of Focus for most of the final season. In the finale, we finally see what Alice has been doing this whole time in a Grand Finale that ties off the remaining loose threads, and ends with her dramatic death.
There's also a related trivia trope, Torch the Franchise and Run: the creator(s) end a work in some way so that it cannot be continued without a hard Retcon or Reset Button, usually because they're in danger of losing creative control over it, or as the ultimate Creator Backlash to a creation they no longer enjoy and want to see ended permanently. A common way to do this is to make sure the main character gets Killed Off for Real.
Edited by Scorpion451I know The Hero Dies but it is too general, I think. Torch the Franchise and Run would be perfect if only it doesn't apply to the special situation. (I.e. the German "Tatort" crime series - more than one Kommissar has bitten the bullet in the long run, but since there are many different teams, franchise crimefighting goes on, so in this case it *would* be best to file under The Hero Dies :-)
Kill Em All is when (most) everyone dies in the end.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenza"end it spectaculary" is covered by Grand Finale.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
The producers know that this is the end of the series (maybe it was planned, maybe they get no fresh money) and end it spectaculary by killing the main character. Obviously, this must be here somewhere, but I was too stupid to search...
