As your friendly neighborhood Admin Team, the gang here at TVTropes HQ is always working to improve the site. Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it. Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.

Important things to know:

  • We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
  • Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
  • Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.

We used to have a more comprehensive color system, but it was replaced with the current one. I'm not sure that there's a huge demand to expand it, but it's something potentially on our radar.

At the very least I would appreciate the inclusion of Yellow, Orange, and Brown options.

"Gold" seems close enough to yellow for me, but an actual orange color that's not just the orangeish-brown "cinnamon" would be nice, yeah

Maybe a different, lighter blue color too? We already have 2 greens, so why not

Bump for orange.

Colored text is now enabled on wiki pages, so adding more colors would let hard-to-read text colors be abused, which is why it was disabled in the first place.

As much as I personally would enjoy a hex code system, there is the potential for it to be abused, yeah. But I don't think there'd be any harm in adding several more general options. It'd be a nice way to expand on the current palette while still keeping it controlled.

Is that why there's no yellow? Because it was hard to read?

Could be a fun addition to Yack Fest and Forum Games.

My understanding is that the previous administrations weren't really interested in having lots of colours as folks overuse them and they don't add much to the wiki, anyway.

Even then, I think a few of the "missing" colors could be nice, like an actual orange and brown instead of one mid-thing

It'd be easier to just letting people specify CSS colors (by tag or HEX) manually without hard-coding them.

The system in place is pretty wonky with the [[color:]] markup but it wouldn’t be hard to add more colors. it’s just not something high on the priority list. I’ll eventually get around to this and other smaller tasks once the big stuff is out of the way like the TLP overhaul and Editing improvements.

^^Yeah I'd like to just insert the CSS/Hex code in.
