To start with, let's talk about Edit War and Righting Great Wrongs.

To not have misinformation added, the correct way would be to bring topic up in Trope Talk and if there's an agreement with the community, to put an explanatory note that would prevent further changes on the matter. Instead, we'll have to talk about the highlighted parts being an immediate-ban offenses regardless of intentions. Two of you having a showdown of essays in the Discussion tab only makes both of you harder to take seriously.

Yeah, regardless of the validity of the edit, both you and Duchess are hardcore edit warring. Posting in the discussion page doesn’t mean you get to undo the other persons edit whenever you feel like it.

Sorry to sorta necro this, but should we restore the two examples Truthseeker removed? He removed this one and This one.

Or are we in favor of keeping them as valid removals?

I would restore it. Personally the example seems valid. The reaon for removal seems personal not factual. It appears valid as a trope.

If the thing about the adult being some sort of guardian to the child is an essential criteria, then the first one doesn't seem to apply since Charlotte isn't a guardian figure to the boy nor implied to be becoming one, it's just a Jail Bait Wait joke. Second example is valid since there's clearly a sort of protective guardian/child dynamic between them when she travels with him, and in that example it's mentioned the manga creator called him her parental figure (I've not fact-checked that bit though).

Factual: Rin is about 9 when she meets Sesshomaru. They travel together for less than a year before separating. Rin has the twins at around 18.

Speculation: How often Sesshomaru visits Rin during those ~8 years, if there ever was a marriage ceremony, and when they started having sex.

I don't think there's enough textual evidence for the trope. It relies on fan speculation. A cursory examination shows a number of other situations where "adult meets a child, later they marry" is being labeled as "adult raises a child to become their spouse", so we may need a more general cleanup thread.

Honestly just cut it. What we get is so vague from the actual text that its really hard to say for sure one way or another.

And yeah a general cleanup sounds like good.

Duchness Snow also added this goofy take that on a character page of her being 18 when she had the twins. Which just looks off. They also added a bunch of speculative stuff on the chatcater page which is against what the show itself is saying. This is really moving into vandalism /Single-Issue Wonk.

I think the "there was a lot of speculation about how the relationship between Sesshomaru and Rin" is already a flag for Speculative Troping and invalidates the entire example that doesn't say anything definite.

^ That part is Chained Sinkholes and sounds like a potshot, but I have no knowledge on the work.

Can I remove the examples they added to the character page? They admit their basically speculating against what the show specifically stated about her being 18 when she had them.

Go ahead and remove anything questionable. Anyway, I'm locking it because suspensions have already been issued and this thread got long.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
