Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
To start with, let's talk about Edit War and Righting Great Wrongs.
- JUANDELACRUZ Adds an InuYasha example, which is more of a shot at the fandom and is later elaborated by sweetheart and later by JoieDeCombat. It was eventually neutralized by Wyldchyld
- In 2020 Truthseeker2020, you've removed it with an argument in edit reasons.
- willowoftheriver adds an example regarding Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, it's sequel, which to be honest isn't well written as it's Speculative Troping, which is later expanded by DuchessSnow.
- miyushinohara removes it with a lengthy edit reason.
- Lancelot07 restores it with just as long edit reason.
- In 2022 miyushinohara removes it again with a full rant in edit reasons.
- DuchessSnow restores it with a rant of their own. (interestingly, they already have one suspension on this policy)
- Truthseeker2020, you've removed it again.
- DuchessSnow restores it again.
- Truthseeker2020 removes it again.

To not have misinformation added, the correct way would be to bring topic up in Trope Talk and if there's an agreement with the community, to put an explanatory note that would prevent further changes on the matter. Instead, we'll have to talk about the highlighted parts being an immediate-ban offenses regardless of intentions. Two of you having a showdown of essays in the Discussion tab only makes both of you harder to take seriously.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupYeah, regardless of the validity of the edit, both you and Duchess are hardcore edit warring. Posting in the discussion page doesn’t mean you get to undo the other persons edit whenever you feel like it.
My Fanfiction.net Page My DeviantArt PageSuspended both Truthseeker 2020 and Duchess Snow for edit warring.
Macron's notesI missed that. Suspended them as well.
Macron's notesIf it helps, we do have a Fact Checking Thread.
Sorry to sorta necro this, but should we restore the two examples Truthseeker removed? He removed this one and This one.
Or are we in favor of keeping them as valid removals?
"Grandmaster Combat, son!"I would restore it. Personally the example seems valid. The reaon for removal seems personal not factual. It appears valid as a trope.
Edited by TuvokIf the thing about the adult being some sort of guardian to the child is an essential criteria, then the first one doesn't seem to apply since Charlotte isn't a guardian figure to the boy nor implied to be becoming one, it's just a Jail Bait Wait joke. Second example is valid since there's clearly a sort of protective guardian/child dynamic between them when she travels with him, and in that example it's mentioned the manga creator called him her parental figure (I've not fact-checked that bit though).
Edited by RhapsodyFactual: Rin is about 9 when she meets Sesshomaru. They travel together for less than a year before separating. Rin has the twins at around 18.
Speculation: How often Sesshomaru visits Rin during those ~8 years, if there ever was a marriage ceremony, and when they started having sex.
I don't think there's enough textual evidence for the trope. It relies on fan speculation. A cursory examination shows a number of other situations where "adult meets a child, later they marry" is being labeled as "adult raises a child to become their spouse", so we may need a more general cleanup thread. Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
Honestly just cut it. What we get is so vague from the actual text that its really hard to say for sure one way or another.
And yeah a general cleanup sounds like good.
Duchness Snow also added this goofy take that on a character page of her being 18 when she had the twins. Which just looks off. They also added a bunch of speculative stuff on the chatcater page which is against what the show itself is saying. This is really moving into vandalism /Single-Issue Wonk.
Edited by miraculous "That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I think the "there was a lot of speculation about how the relationship between Sesshomaru and Rin" is already a flag for Speculative Troping and invalidates the entire example that doesn't say anything definite.
^ That part is Chained Sinkholes and sounds like a potshot, but I have no knowledge on the work.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupCan I remove the examples they added to the character page? They admit their basically speculating against what the show specifically stated about her being 18 when she had them.
Edited by miraculous "That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Go ahead and remove anything questionable. Anyway, I'm locking it because suspensions have already been issued and this thread got long.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
There is a dispute on a page and it is because of hate. The sequel of the series put two characters together that some westerns seen as father and daughter which the canon story does not support. Asians do not view them as father and daughter and I have read where they have been shocked on this interpretation. I have been removing this ship from wifehusbandry because the canon story does not support it. It has been added back with dishonesty. I did make a discussion question and while I have no spoken to the individual they have accused me of things I have no done and been dishonest about many things. The story is Inuyasha. Rin and Sesshomaru traveled together from after October of 1996 to mid March of 1997. He left her with Kaede. Rin was raised by Kaeda with very little visits by Sesshomaru. When she become an adult they got married and she had twins when she was 18.
On wifehusbandry the note says: Note: A child simply meeting an adult and then them moving on to a romantic relationship when both are adults is not this trope, nor is it for teacher/student relationships that become romantic. The adult must actually raise the child as their legal guardian.
Rin simply meets him and they move on to a romantic relationship when they are both are adults and he has never been her legal guardian. There is no reference. In the manga companion is used. They were only traveled companions. In the manga profiles she is listed as Jaken is a servant to Sesshomaru. Rumiko Takahashi and Ken Narita has used Hogosha in a quote which could parent but means guardian or protector. If you read the content, the meaning protector is meant and not parent. There is a group that hates this ship and lies about the meaning of this word and tries to make this paring father and daughter. They try to make her 14 when she had the twins but the series twice says she is 18. However, if you understand Japanese culture you could had worked that out with her confirmed aged in season 2 of Yashahime.
