They're still doing blog updates. Jack is growing on me.

Yeah, I like that. Charlie seems to have a very bad case of getting in over his head.

That was awesome.

Charles was kind of a Smug Snake to Parson last time around—among other things, because Parson's boop was on the line and Charles wasn't. It's nice to see them dealing on more equitable grounds.

I thought it was hilarious. Of course, Maggie, as a Thinkamancer, would know these things. On the other hand, units in Erfworld must have some interesting attitudes toward sex when you consider that it is unrelated to procreation as well as apparently free from the risk of communicable disease. It makes you wonder what the point is, other than simple pleasure. Loyalty bonuses, maybe?

This in a world where the laws of nature censor swearing. Ick. Suppose it explains some of what we've been told about Transylvito though... and by explains I mean makes them all look like bastards.

As for the summer updates turning into real ones, I just checked the forums and supposedly they just said "October", so they'll have to switch back within the next two weeks or risk *gasp* breaking their words. It looks like they're just about finished anyways; the big loose ends from book one have been tied up and whatever the hook is to lead in book two is it's at most two updates away from being set up, if not already set up.

edit: OOOOOOOH, I just came up with an awesome prediction. I predict that, some time in the near future (from his perspective on what constitutes "near"), Parson will ask his bracer "What is the chance that Wanda will defect from Stanley's service?" Now that he knows it's capable of those questions he'd have to be an idiot not to try.

edit: As a side note, something gives me this sneaking feeling that our auhtors have realized, much to their horror, how much easier text updates are to write and advance a plot with than graphic novels. They may be trying to put off going back as long as possible.

News!

The important stuff: New artist (a sample), it comes back on the 28th (updating Wednesdays and Saturdays—consistently updating Erfworld, what the hell), and the first book is in print in February.

Well, the new capital certainly looks a lot nicer. Not really a lot more to say besides "ZOMG IT RETURNZ 0 R!" Enthusiasm which is warranted IMO...after those "summer" updates I'm pretty stoked for this.

(Also, it took a second read to get the "It's the little things which make a difference sometimes" dig. XD)

Hey guys, I just had an awesome WMG while thinking about the summer updates. Parson assumes and Stanley seems to suspect that Charlie has been doing something to stop them from finding any Gobwins to repopulate the Gobwin tribe. His bracer has told him the odds of there being some interference by this point are 78% and the odds that it's Charlie's fault is 92%. But how does that make any sense? What could Charlie be doing—in Stanley's now extremely-well-patrolled territory—that could prevent them from finding any Gobwins? It doesn't make sense.

Wanda's Decrypted Units are Killing Any Gobwins They Find
This seems far more plausible. Aside from possibility of doing it, nobody on the outside, least of all Charlie, sees Gobwins as any kind of important anymore, compared with Wanda's decrypted. So aside from how they'd pull it off without any archons spotting them the question of why they'd bother is a tough one. But Wanda, Stanley, Parson and anyone else with a brain on Gobwin Knobb's side knows that they make a huge difference—they're troops that would be squarely under Stanley's leadership, not Wanda's. Right now he's got only Hobgobwins, Dwagons, Parson and his casters, and the entire rest of his army obeys Wanda and her Arkentool rather than Stanley. If/when she rebels, she'll badly outnumber and overpower him, even within his capitol city. Another miniarmy under his direct control would be a big help. So Wanda has extreme incentive not to let him have any. Since the vast majority of their units are hers, and the most mobile of Stanley's are fliers while the Gobwins are all underground, presumably it's decrypted doing all the searching. How hard would it be to alter the results and pretend not to find any Gobwins, killing them instead. Don't even have to hide the bodies in this world, they'll disappear long before anyone else can make it to this cave. Just like that, Wanda retains vast numerical superiority over Stanley's own troops. As for why the bracer's wrong: He almost certainly made certain assumptions when asking the question. The difference between "What would be the most likely reason for our troops not finding any Gobwins" and "What would be the most likely reason for our troops not bringing back any Gobwins" is a big one. He probably foolishly worded his question so that the bracer solved a hypothetical where the troops weren't finding anything at all, rather than the reality where they were finding some but not bringing any back.

Genius, huh?

New page.

I see Kain, Susan Sto-Helit, and Michael Jackson.

I'm sure they aren't actually them.

Right?

What is UP with the way they drew Tramennis's head on page three? I mean, for heaven's sake. Not a good way to start off a book after a few months of vacation, with a character whose head alternates between normal and held in such a position that I would normally assume his neck's been snapped and he's moments from dropping dead. Not to mention that it looks like it was sculpted out of a block of clay rather than looking like an actual, natural head (like the other two Jetstones have).

Susan Sto Helit had white hair with a single black streak. I think the woman's hair there is a reference to the Bride of Frankenstein('s Monster). [1]

I had to read page 7 a few times to figure out what was happening. Between perspective shifts, flash mobs, foolamancy, and all-around deceit, it was pretty confusing. I guess that's the point?

What happened to everyone else in the Brothers' stack? Shouldn't their bonuses give their stack a strong save against shock? They said it was a stack full of warlords, but their companions look pretty normal, and went down quick. This seems too easy.

If you look closely, the units in the brothers' stack have that extra little radish on their helmets (like the warlord talking to the Dittomancer).
