Yeah, Reisen II seems to mainly be in the story to follow Toyohime and occasionally go "really? That's awesome!"

Its really annoying in her chapter of CiLR. Really annoying.

Anyone wanna keep discussing these, or move on to a) the Fairies or b) pre-Windows?

I'd kind of like to do the three fairies for completeness's sake, even if there isn't much to say about them.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the Watatsukis are meant to be unlikeable, and have shades of Parody Sue: Yorihime is an answer to those who would have Reimu train seriously to build up even more power, while Toyohime shows how one should look beyond Moe. I guess ZUN was successful?

I like Reisen II's old picture, the one with the "(frightened whimper)" look on her face. Is the Lunar Army made up of conscripts? Because they seem to have a problem with desertion. What would Tewi do with all those lunar rabbits, I wonder...

I think any army would have a problem with desertion if they had to deal with GENERAL NEIL MOTHERFUCKING ARMSTRONG.

On a less silly note, maybe it's because bunnies just don't make very good soldiers? They are herbivores who survive by fleeing, after all.

As near as I can tell, the rabbits aren't really part of the army, just the Watatsuki sister's side project of sorts.

I was thinking about adding The Knights Who Say "Squee!" to Yorihime's character entry regarding her attitude towards Eirin, and I'm Taking Her Home With Me! to Toyohime's to mention that rabbit she kept trying to steal.

I was interested by Yorihime's fight with Sakuya, mainly because it revealed that Sakuya can't actually teleport, only stop time, move, and restart time.

Ah yeah, I wanted to return it to that one. Can't say I like the current picture.

In fact, I kinda want to make a new thread for discussing image changes on that page, because there just seem to be too many changes made totally willy-nilly.

Hrm, an unlikable character is still an unlikable character, and if parody is too subtle... yeah. As I said, they work very nicely in a comedic setting, but outside of that, I can't blame people for missing the joke if there was one.

At least Lunatic Blue as remixed by =NeutraL= and Iron Attack are great.

I like Yorihime, but admittedly for the reason most others hate her. I just liked her shredding Reimu's, etc., Plot Armor at will. And not only a sword user, but one who can call on a limitless pantheon of shinto gods? Badass. I mostly agree with Hylarn's analysis and really have nothing to add, though. Except to say I believe their prejudice is somewhat misunderstood by some.

I dunno. Do they really have much of a choice but to be prejudiced? They were probably educated to think little of earth-dwellers, and didn't encounter enough humans (except the "warring" kind) to change their opinion.

Hm, we keep doing all the characters I forget about.

Hell, I need to read the Touhou manga, I want to see why everyone hates the moonbitches.

I've only read Silent Sinner (wasn't aware the sisters appeared in anything else official), but when I did, I didn't think much of the Lunarians, even with Yorihime essentially curb-stomping the cast. In fact, the only one that bugged me was Toyohime, due to her being almost unnecessarily racist and having a really overpowered fan (I don't know why that bothers me more than all the other characters in Gensokyo who are essentially overpowered though). And in a world where everyone is cute, her cuteness doesn't override that .

That said, the idea that ZUN may have intended them to be Parody Sues makes some sort of sense. Reminds me of Xion's interpretation. Also, despite what I said, I can see why the fandom hates them, but I don't think the sisters deserve as much hate as they seem to be getting  ^*

You mean, on the Discussion page for Characters/Touhou? What bothers me is that too many of the new pictures are by that... one artist whose name I can't look up right now because Danbooru is down today.

Reisen II lands on Reisen's head feet-first and then Yorihime subjects both of them to Training from Hell. It already happened in Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth.

Reisen Attack of the Clones even decides that Reisen is her eternal rival for the Moonbrincesses' attention but eventually gets filled with rabbit solidarity for her.

Reisen: The Original seems to view Nishiki Reisen as just another idiot or annoyance destined to make her life difficult.

Misery loves company; now they can complain to each other how badly their masters treat them.
