Lined up for Moonrise Kingdom. I'll try to get a page going after but I'm technically on a date.
Fifteen minutes before it starts the line wraps around 3 times
The child is father to the man —OedipusHigh Plains Drifter is a film. A westerny film that can be hard to watch.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.High Plains Drifter is actually the only Clint Eastwood Western I've seen.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Film Noir-comedies are pretty rare. This makes The Big Steal and His Kind Of Woman interesting.

Pages Needing ImagesSaw the trailer for The Impossible, did some research, and added it to Lead You Can Relate To. It's about a British family struggling to survive after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Turns out it's based on a true story...except the actual family is Spanish; it was changed to make them "more relateable" to the intended audience.
So, I just saw Ghostbusters. I figured it was something I had to have seen, as a part of general pop-culture knowledge.
I thought it was a pretty bad film, honestly. The plot progresses in a really weird and messy way, which also screws up the build-up and release of tension. Also, I didn't really like most of the jokes. Not to mention the frequent Special Effects Failure.
The theme tune however... oh my. DAT BASSLINE.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Oh, that'll get you beat up here on the internet. You might wanna keep that to yourself.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIt did strike me as odd that so much of their ordinary ghostbusting work was relegated to a montage.
I didn't write any of that.That. Also significant events like Winston joining the crew are sort of... glossed over, and there are some weird pauses during the supposedly climactic final battle, which really kills the tension.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...The point of that was to show how routine ghostbusting had become for them, so that Dickless throws them a real curveball.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI know. I disagreed with everything in that post. I thought Ghostbusters was a fabulous comedy...with a terrible theme song. Oh, Mr. Parker, you gave up a career as a promising jazz guitarist for this? You, sir, are no George Benson!
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Really? C'mon, the bassline, the riff, the synths, the sheer eightiesness of it all... it's awesome!
I'mma post it here just to annoy you.
Watched "Santa Fe Trail" (1940) with Errol Flynn as J.E.B. Stuart, Ronald Reagan as George Armstrong Custer and Raymond Massey as John Brown. The heroic U.S. Army officers battle the evil abolitionists who want to start a civil war in order to rid the country of slavery. Values Dissonance and historical revisionism galore. A station on the Underground Railroad is referred to as a "cancer" by the title cards. Mind, as a movie, it's pretty good. People who care about historical accuracy, however, should avoid it like the plague.
Necro.
I am wondering, would it be all right to create a separate thread for "classic" movies that don't warrant thread of its own, like, say, Gone With The Wind, Sound Of Music, Jaws, and so on? Would it start any arguments on what movie is classic or not?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. There are like two or three threads asking for movies without jump scares.
There's nothing wrong with jump scares.
They burn calories.
I wonder if there are horror movies that have generally bright colors.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Killer Klowns From Outer Space?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWatched Goodfellas.
Okay, who here thought that I Joe Pesci's character was completely annoying? I wanted him to die as quickly as possible, and wow, was I happy when he did get whacked!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Is it just me, or is there a stark lack of famous actresses from the US who aren't of either European, Latin American, or African descent (either completely or largely)? What, are there no good actresses from Asia?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Typecasting's a bitch and isn't going to be a problem in China, so.
What about Japanese Americans?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I mean, there's a Japanese film industry, too. And there are a lot of SE/E Asians on Youtube making movies and music and acting. But from what people like Lucy Liu or John Cho say in interviews it's really hard to a) get a first role as an Asian and b) not get typecast as "the Asian" after that.
There is a part of the Minority Report example in Unusual User Interface that confuses me. I will boldface the relevant part before asking the question.
- Minority Report has screens that are activated by motion and touch.
- The interface used in Minority Report is actually becoming a kind of Truth in Television, as several technologies have developed (some inspired by the movie) that work on similar principles. One is the multitouch interface, such as Jeff Han's research and (what was originally called) Microsoft Surface. Even closer to the movie is the work being done by Johnny Chung Lee, where he emulates the interface in the movie using a Wii remote. However, the interface will never come to pass in the exact form depicted, because it breaks some obvious and crucial principles of ergonomics.
For reference, this◊ is what the example is referring to. Now, what principles of ergonomics are being broken here?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The ones that put Interstellar into the nominee box, knowing it will have no chance in any awards, just to piss off the entire cinema fanbase to see it was even in the box, you got a medal for massive trolling.
The Congress: should one put it into the animation box, or the live action box?
Thanks for that.
All the titles look really interesting... But then you look them up and it's easy to, shall we say, narrow it down.
