In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

I just bought the fucking Compare the Meerkat book cuz I was already buying my mom's birthday present and figured there's no harm in throwing that into my cart.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. As of today, my parents have been married for 36 years. They've been through all kinds of stuff together, including but not limited to emotional baggage, infertility, raising kids with Dad being the caregiver and Mom the breadwinner, thinking my brother was going to die as a baby, 2 moves of a significant distance (with the same family dog), trying to figure out what was going on in my brain as a teen and young adult (autism), losing the family dog, getting a new one, Dad getting thyroid cancer and the recovery, Mom's brain surgery and subsequent firing from Wal-mart (bastards), my sister getting married, the absolute crazy amounts of stress at Mom's last job, and her being essentially bedridden since retiring in October.
It is quite a marvel that they've been together for so long in a day and age where divorce is so commonplace, even easy. Heck, thyroid disease is the catalyst for more divorces than you might realize, and they stuck it through anyway. Their commitment to each other is amazing.
So congrats to my mom and dad for proving that love can last for decades.

I'm fully vaccinated! Yay! My brother gets his second dose tomorrow. Also yay! And my parents are still not convinced that the technology used to make the vaccines is a good idea. *sigh*

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Alright, two things. First off, I got my 2nd vaccine towards the end of June. Not too bad, all things considered, aside from lingering soreness in my arm that's now gone. Secondly, I got yet another kidney stone in me. Two, actually. I managed to pass one but I dunno what's going on with the other. Just gotta keep drinking water. The days before we identified them as such were excruciating.

The old Subaru I usually drive has a big ol' oil leak that isn't really worth fixing. And we need two cars because my brother is starting his second semester of college in a few weeks and his school is a good ways away.
The only issue right now is that my dad loathes car shopping because he always feels like he's getting ripped off, which I can understand. He has bought more cars than I have.
