The fireworks scene with Merry and Pippin at the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring should have been something like the fireworks scene at the beginning of Rio 2. Imagine Merry and Pippin not just setting off the fireworks, but flying up into the air tied to the fireworks and then fireworks exploding. Gandalf would be like "Frodo, you're great - what is THAT?!" Needless to say, Merry/Pippin would survive mostly unscathed.

If, y'know, that wasn't absolutely impossible to pull off in live-action. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd imagine in to be far more difficult than in animation, and they'd probably have to hire a stunt team or something...)
