Ah yes. A strange substance in that it also has in alot of continiuities the ability to create or restore life as well.

It's interesting honestly. That creation can be born from the God Of Destruction.

Well, undead creations.

Though that's mostly in the American adaptations.

Double Post.

Rodimus Primal finally does his own retrospective on the Autobot Police Car, Prowl.

Unfortunately, we probably won't be seeing any Police Car Autobot for a long time, as Real Life has more than soured the reputation of cops, and it's going to take a long time.

They may need to downplay Classic Prowl in favour of his Ninja self from Animated.

As for the video, Animated all the way, Primal.

People say that in the Power Rangers thread as well, but you really underestimate just how many people want authoritarian structures so long as they're targeting someone else.

Oh for sure, but both Power Rangers and Transformers have consistently been on the more progressive side of things. Hasbro execs might not care but the writers certainly would at least think twice.

But yeah, it's telling that the Breakout Character when it comes to side-cons in the Bayverse was Barricade.

The bad comedy of it all is that Barricade's "to punish and enslave" tagline is actually closer to the Supreme Court defined role of what the police actually do, compared to the phrase it's a parody of. "To protect and serve" isn't a real guideline for police, it's a PR focused motto of the Los Angeles Police Department. Because of the LA connection, it shows up a lot more in Hollywood productions, and has thus become a part of the exporting of the image of America. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has also ruled for decades that police basically have no obligation to actually protect anything outside of a vested property interest. Effectively, this means the role can become more reactionary and punitive, and by the plain text of the Thirteenth Amendment, part of that punishment can be slavery, bringing us right back to Barricade.

...Have I said this all here before?

Maybe, maybe not, but ACAB needs to be said one way or the other.

... ACAB would be a great name for a Decepticon Police car too. I always imagined "Pond Scum" would work for a Decepticon Sea-Doo. Yes, sometimes I just sit here thinking of new names for Transformers. Sometimes I look them up and learn there's already a Transformer called that.

[up][up] I've actually seen "to punish and enslave" written on stuff twice. One was a decal sticker on a random car in a Target parking lot. The other was a post on Reddit where the phrase was on the box of a cheap battery-powered toy police car.

"My job here is done." "But you didn't do anything."

I didn't realize until recent months that ACAB wasn't actually an American expression, but a British one, IIRC. And is much older than I'd have thought.

Sidenote about ACAB: That acronym brings to my mind a thought, relating to certain gender identity acronyms. "Blue lives" aren't a thing because no one was "assigned cop at birth".

I mean Prowl had a figure as part of Earthrise 3 years ago. He had a toy during Cyberverse (And appeared in the cartoon, which is as of this writing the last main cartoon series we had before earthspark).

So like, don't see any reason to believe that's even gonna be true?

Heck we had this year Legacy Animated Prowl, and he's a Police Bike.

Police Will Never Help You. Only Trust Your Fists.

You ever get whiplash on This Very Wiki because you weren't realizing you where in the "Fan Works" part of the page and you read "The identity of Zero becomes -An Artifact Alias- for Lelouch vi Britannia in Code Prime by R2, as his identity has become an Open Secret among the Autobots and Decepticons"

It does make me realize how crossover-friendly Transformers is. You can make a good story even better by just saying "And then the iconic vehicle TURNS OUT TO BE A CYBERTRONIAN."

Hell, just look at how quickly people moved past the events in my comments' signature. That summer we had police arresting reporters on live TV, dragging and assaulting city representatives, firing tear gas at people staying on their own porches, and blasting noise to disrupt residents' sleep or videos recording them, and plenty of people were fine with that. Just yesterday I saw some disgusting posts calling for more, or calling for vigilantes to assault whoever they suspect of any wrongdoing if they feel the police aren't doing enough.

Right. We're probably getting a bit off topic. That's on me for bringing it up.

Point is, I do hope we get more Prowl. I'd be ok with another nod to animated rather than his G1 Self.

I kinda like G1 Prowl (though he needs a less destroyable Battle Computer) but Animated Prowl rocks all our socks off.

There are honestly certain characters where I'd take specific appearances and combine them with certain personalities.

For instance, even though I can't stand the character of Animated Bumblebee, I think his design is better than the one's we've gotten recently because they remember bumble is supposed to be a little guy.

Now give him Prime Bumblebee's fighting ability and maybe something akin to G1's personality, and for me, you got the perfect Bumblebee.

Earth basically being Transformers Satan was a weird development. Where does that put humans on the whole cosmology? Former microbes/insects, like the demons that arose from the Titan in The Owl House? Does that mean that it would be unethical to mine iron?

I believe Unicron himself addressed that concept in TF:Prime when Optimus tried to reason with him: "PARASITES!"

[up][up] Keep in mind, Primus allowed Cybertronians to mine energon and other materials found only on Cybertron. Unicron is just an asshole.

[up] That's a little disappointing, but I'm wondering if it's a case of Exact Words. It specifies the 2007 movie but I'm thinking that it may be retconing the sequels away given that they had Bumblebee around since WW2 and had Unicron be the center of the earth while this clearly shows him being active in space.

The original trilogy's continuity is so awful anyway that I see no worth in obsessing over it. Your average Connery-Era Bond movie probably has a better grasp on continuity than the Bayformers film did.

It's probably a Broad Strokes thing, where it can lead into the Bay films if you squint, are really far far away, and it was dark outside.

The way I see it, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura never put much weight on the "reboot" term, and Variety said the films "weren’t exactly sticklers for the laws of time and space, either".

The live action movies are just like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, they don't follow continuity time to time.

One character that I would like to see a new toy of is the Decepticon Pretender Carnivac.

I have like him since I read the story "Cry Wolf!" and he was shown like this; https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/carnivac_uk_comic_shell.jpg

"He's what you might call a thinker."

Piggybacking off of DrPscyhe's discoveries, we got more deets about the circumstances of Miner Megatron, namely that he's one part of a two-pack called "Rise of Tyranny"!

  • As established, Miner Megatron is an extensive retool of Seige Megatron with a new head (completely different from the Selects Combat Megatron release), a new chest, new shoulders, all to hew him closer to how he appeared in his pre-Decepticon days, and as this is Megatron before establishing the Decepticons, he doesn't have his signature fusion cannon. Instead, he comes with a pickaxe and a drill cannon. His Evo-Fusion gimmick is turning his drill cannon and pickaxe into a...drill crossbow?
  • Joining him is Senator Ratbat, a retool of SS86 Scourge with a new head, shoulders, chest and a glossy purple deco! And it wouldn't be the first time a Scourge became a Ratbat! (And yeah, for those who are in the dark, some TF multiverse lore has it so that Ratbat was once a Senator of Cybertron before being forced to become a micro-cassette minion for Soundwave.)
