I contacted Dark0ne over at tesnexus. The Nexus sites have at least some Google ads I'm sure, and yet they also have explicit content in both mods and image share sections. I can't imagine The Nexus being cheaper to run than TV Tropes, so whatever ad networks they use should be viable for TV Tropes.
I also have an idea that'll get me flamed.
- Charge for edit accounts.
-dons several layers of flame-retardant-
Do you realize that the point of a wiki is that anyone can edit it? Adding a fee creates exclusion which works against that purpose.
Yeah, either Google enforces its policies inconsistently, or they were offended by something specific and genuinely squicky (possibly in Troper Tales).
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Damn you, Troper Tales! Damn you TO HELL!
This happened because Google made an audit, which happened because someone reported it to Google. If you see Google Ads on NSFW sites, it's probably because no one's reported it.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Still, Nexus has to be more expensive than TV Tropes. Dark0ne's gotta be makin some serious bank with his ads. He uses multiple ad networks, this I know.
^^ We. Know. Already.
Idea about hosting NSFW stuff on another site:
Would having an interstitial page warning people of NSFW content be sufficient, if we kept the two sites link-connected?
Heck, would warning people about NSFW pages on this very site be sufficient?
No dice. The To S says it's not allowed, full stop.
Here is where I was directed when asking questions about needed steps: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2009/07/tips-for-maintaining-adsense-friendly.html
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo basically, we can have NSFW as long as the ads don't appear there?
Which basically tells us jack.

Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Cause we still don't know what exactly is inappropriate.
There is nothing on TV Tropes that I would be ashamed to show my family.

Video Game Census. Please contribute. So, in other words, are you trying to say that the issue originated from something like Troper Tales and we can keep the sex tropes and erotic works pages?
Huh. That makes them out to be mostly concerned with pictures.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.We don't know exactly WHAT caused it yet, do we? Are we sure it was something sexual?
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic. If it really is just TT and FF, then I'm perfectly happy to see those go.
(from earlier in the thread)
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Which is still rather vague. Those guidelines, especially the "Would I feel comfortable" one, could cover almost anything. And garrote half the Wiki.

Hm. NFSW images includes a LOT. I wouldn't want to be caught looking at half the image links in the Nightmare Fuel or High Octane Nightmare Fuel pages at work.
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic. So all the sexual Troper Tales would have to go? Cut-and-lock, maybe?
(I don't think killing the whole namespace is good, I know that's begging for a snarky reply.)
