It's stuff I have saved to my computer, so I'm not sure if I have actual links any more. And they are from post-series interviews, so I think they might be a bit spoilery for our OP - PM me if you still want me to copy out the parts that I found interesting.

Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.^ Which isn't exactly evidence for any real lack of Ho Yay, now, is it?
What's precedent ever done for us?Am I the only person who has, like, anti-Ship Goggles when it comes to incest stuff? It's not just Code Geass, but I admit that half the stuff listed as incest subtext for the show never occurred to me at all when I was watching it, and some things I still don't really see as being incestuous as opposed to just close familial stuff.
But yes, back to Ho Yay.

And you never saw any incest subtext in Code Geass? Really? What about the time when Nunnally and Euphemia reminisce about a Father, I Want to Marry My Brother moment and Nunnally then asks Euphemia, "Do you still love Lelouch?" What about Euphie taking off much of her clothes when she meets Lelouch on the island? What about Lelouch calling Euphie "the first girl I ever loved"? What about Nunnally wanted Lelouch to hold her hand in bed? What about Schneizel flattering Cornelia in a very overdone way?
I could list more, if you like.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.I didn't say I didn't see any, I said that some of the stuff that people saw as incest subtext, I didn't interpret that way. The Schneizel and Cornelia one is an example of that. Nudity =/= sexuality (especially since that foofy dress would be horrendous to walk around in wet - I'd take it off, too). And the fact that Nunnally and Euphie are laughing over it means I tend to see that as more reminiscing about childhood naivety than it being, you know, a reflection of current feelings - it's a parallel to Shirley wanting to marry her father as a kid. No-one seems to see that as incestuous.
Isn't one of the reasons that shipping is such Serious Business is because a lot of the time subtext can be very subjective? It's that, really.
I see a lot more Ho Yay in Code Geass than Incest Yay, anyway.

Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Because she wants to know? Nunnally is still pretty naive and innocent, you know. (The idea of actually shipping her with anyone squicks me, actually - unless it's a few years post series. She's such a child.)
The owner of this account is temporarily unavailable. Please leave your number and call again later.Having thought about it, Ho Yay-esque stuff the OP might like:
- Vassalord: violent, emotionally fraught melodrama with vampires; maybe too openly erotic for the OP (although the main characters do not, as of V3, actually have sex with each other)
- The manga/anime version of TogainuNoChi: violent, emotionally fraught melodrama with gang warfare; the game is explicit but the manga/anime has been thoroughly de-cocked, leaving only innuendo (when the emotional level goes Up To Eleven, that used to be a sex scene)
- Wild Adapter, Kazuya Minekura: violent, emotionally fraught melodrama with yakuza; technically it's full-on Boys' Love, but the author keeps the relationship on "smoulder", there's no sex and only the most oblique suggestions that sex might happen sometime in the indefinite future (and maybe also Saiyuki, by the same author, although I haven't read it and thus cannot recommend one way or the other)
- Blank Slate, Aya Kanno: violent, emotionally fraught melodrama with a hot, remorseless killer and the shy doctor he kidnaps and the government agents hunting them and lots of dark secrets on all sides, and really pretty art
- Bananna Fish, Akimi Yoshida: Awesome not-BL-but-lots-of-subtext crime melodrama, with rather unattractive old-school art as its only flaw (also: long and out of print, but well worth hunting down)
And fun Ho Yay but probably not fraught enough for the OP:
- Silver Diamond, Shiho Sugiura: the protag is a bit uke-ish, but otherwise it's an entertaining "boy dragged into a magical world" romp

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Agreed: the openings for Shippuden in particular take the Ho Yay and run with it, bordering on Interpay Of Sex And Violence.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?The OP mentioned they like Hunter X Hunter.
Have you read/watched Togashi's other series, Yu Yu Hakusho? The Ho Yay in it is rather like the kind in Hx H- plus it's the granddaddy of shonen series exploiting m/m subtext for a broader audience.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.We all know Hippo has Gag Penis. People are bound to point it out.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Black Cat: Specifically Creed towards Train.
Full Metal Panic: Gauron towards Sousuke. SO MUCH.
Yeah, that one is text (if rather one-sided).
The owner of this account is temporarily unavailable. Please leave your number and call again later.- feels bad about recommending YYH because part of that is also text*
Soifon towards Yoruichi from Bleach could be called subtext. It may seem like text on Soifon's side for some, but its not clear if its just Soifon admiring and looking up to Yoruichi or something more.
Psyren has Oboro who can heal people by hugging them once mention to Ageha that if he got hurt he would "hug him anytime".
Peacemaker Kurogane has a lot of this too.
Kuroshitsuji ship teases a lot with Ciel and Sebastian. Nothing's going to come of it as Sebastian is eventually supposed to eat Ciel's soul.

Regarding the soul-eating thing... you've never heard of Vore?
But thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely give Peacemaker Kurogane a try, but both Psyren and Bleach turn me off because of the art. Okay, I know Bleach's art gets better about 15 volumes in, but still.
Meh, Kuroshitsuji was too blatant for me.
I like my Ho Yay realistic and relatively subtle.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over. You mean Ho Yay that's actually meaningful and emotional and not just so blatant that it's really only put there to attract the fangirls?
So basically the Ho Yay should be subtle, meaningful, and engaging, not just endless pointless blatant fanservice.
