^^ Well it's still true. Aaaaat the very least, anime averts Depending on the Author. And I didn't say they weren't built with tropes, I said they weren't built on so many enforced tropes. Except Dragon Ball and a few others, which sux as badly as any Rob Liefeld work.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?^ I beg to differ. Most manga is actually very Troperiffic, and appealing to the respective conventions of their respective genres. The exceptions to the rule are about as scarce as those of the American storytelling.
Sorry, you're probably right. Fan Myopia on my part, I don't read most manga, and I tend to go for non-mainstreamstuff. I imagine if someone only read Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore and Grant Morrison, they'd think comic books are heavyly continuity-driven, are coherent, consistent, free of Retcon and of Depending on the Author, of Continuity Porn and Running the Asylum...
Still, I find the failings of Anime to be less irriating than that of Comic Book verses. One author, one series, one verse. None of that Crisis Crossover mandness, for example. How many series of variable quality do they expect me to follow every month? WHY ISN'T Allstar Batman And Robin FINISHED YET? WHY One More Day? WHYYYYYY???

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?There are Wall Bangers in every and all media. That's just the way it is.
The multiple authors thing is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, your points on it are valid, but also, allowing multiple authors to take their own stabs at the characters allows said characters to grow richer and more multifaceted through history, even past beyond their creators' deaths. What kind of Robin Hood or King Arthur legends would there be today if no one after their originators had ever been allowed to tell stories about them?
Well, we wouldn't have Robin Hood Men In Tights. Or Arthur.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?^ Exactly! What a loss!

Applying that reasoning to Comic Books... seems fallacious to me...
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?So, you're perfectly willing to lose Watchmen, The Killing Joke, Batman The Animated Series, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Justice League Unlimited?
In fairness, Robin Hood Men In Tights WAS a pretty funny movie.
My FF.net account^^ If, in exchange, people like Joe Quesada and Superboy Prime disappear from the face of the Earth... (is deliberating)
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Also, it's not like big enough Japanese series didn't pull shit like that all the time, Out of Evangelion:
- Manga continuity
- Girlfriend Of Steel
- Angelic Days
- Ikari Shinji Raising Project
- Neon Genesis Evangelion Gakuen Datenroku
- Petit Eva: Evangelion@School
- Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA
- Rebuild
- More, which I currently don't remember
Code Geass, itself, has:
- Suzaku of the Counterattack
- Nightmare of Nunnaly
- A new prequel series that's coming out soon.
Haruhi has:
- That Churuya thing.
- Haruhi-Chan
- The Melancholy of Nagato Yuki
- Some manga that was apparently very bad.

For haruhi there is also the infamous doujin The Enslavement Of Haruhi Suzyumia.

Watch SymphogearFor Haruhi there is such a huge amount of doujin material it is hard to believe. Same for Eva.
But, see, for Eva, all of those are Alternate Continuity, NOT part of the same storyline. They are retellings. I mean, seriously, look at the Supergirl and Batwoman and Batgirl pages and tell me there isn't something really really wrong with all this insanity.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?No, it's just all for fun. As long as you don't take it as religious Serious Business to rally pro or against it, it's not a big deal at all.
I like my stories to be silly and fun, but I want them to take themselves completely seriously. Being funny is Serious Business. People used to kill themselves because of their lack of proficiency at snappy retort.
Watch Ridicule. It's an awesome movie, and the quips are Actually Pretty Funny.
Also, Most Common Superpower and Form Fitiing Wardrobe.... leads to Big Bra to Fill. I guess I just dislike superhero comics in general. Franco-Belgian comics, on the other hand, are so diverse one can find anything. I am especially fond of Corto Maltese and Tintin. But too much True Art since the seventies, oh yes... Anybody remember HeavyMetal magazine? That was GRIMDARK Avant La Lettre.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?You know there is this new show about Iron Man...
At this rate, I will use the other thread for my list just because of how far off topic this one has gotten.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!TONY STARUKU IZU OOSOMU!!!
Do you think this will introduce Japanese audiences to comic books?

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Well, that was the whole idea. I'm sure it will cause a spike in sales of Iron Man comics, but whether or not it'll last is another question.
I guess it is.I watched it.
It was a'ight. Nothing to make me cream my jeans or anything, but I thought it was pretty cool.
I liked Nanami the Intrepid Reporter. I'm interested to see where they go with her.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Comics have always been available in japan. (the price there is pretty high though same way with Tankoubons here) Some have decently high sales there.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!It's nothing compared to the original commercial, but I seriously doubt a series could be produced at that level for less than a few million dollars anyway.
Fight smart, not fair.I for one think Stark's expressions throughout the story are priceless. He has a trollface to rival Aizen's (Goodbyzen!).
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?
I'd say the other one stays. I don't like the title of this one.
