You do what works for you. Fighting games' insanely high skill floor to master all the moves and characters and matchups has always put a damper on their potential popularity, so if a game is beatable without insane commitment to learning then I see it as a strength.
Ars Technica: Billy Mitchell takes his Donkey Kong high-score cheating case to court
You might remember way back in the relatively normal year 2018 when Donkey Kong legend Billy Mitchell was stripped of his all-time record high score by scoreboard keeper Twin Galaxies. This was based on extensive analysis of his video submission revealing that he did not play on original, unmodified arcade hardware.
Well, Mitchell sued for defamation, claiming that Twin Galaxies called him a cheater and seeking reinstatement of his score. This suit flew completely under the radar until just now because there is a court date approaching. Twin Galaxies is seeking dismissal under anti-SLAPP provisions.
This is a weird one. While it may seem like an overly entitled, fame-seeking prick trying to get a court to make someone take back calling him a cheater... that appears to in fact be exactly what it is. I see no way Mitchell could possibly win the case.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Back on January 2020, Daedalic Entertainment (developer of point-and-click adventure games like Edna & Harvey: The Breakout and Deponia) announced they were making a game on Middle-Earth's favorite mentally unhinged creepy thingimajig: Gollum.
It was aptly called The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and was announced for 2021 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Daedalic made it a point that the game would be more in line with the LOTR books rather than the Peter Jackson movies.
That said, screenshots have recently shown up and...Gollum's looking like he does in the Jackson movies.
Anyway, the game is said to be a stealth-adventure game. While there seems to be some form of free-roaming gameplay going on, there's also some adventure game elements like dialogue and choice-making that has you choosing whether to let Gollum channel Smeagol or, well, Gollum to get out of situations, which is an interesting touch. Might it be a logical evolution of the adventure game genre?
Oh, and Middle-Earth is looking LUSH, yes?

Every time I try to open those links in a new tab something downloads instead.
I notice that just now.
Try over here. It's a Twitter thread featuring the screenshots.
EDIT: Or try the links in again. Same screenshots, but from the game makers's official Twitter.

A couple of things:
Video of a possible 2012 cancelled third Prince of Persia reboot has surfaced.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I think that may simply be because Jackson's Gollum looks pretty much as described in the books.
Do you mean the "point-and-click" adventure genre, or the "a-la Zelda" adventure genre?
By your description, it sounds somewhat like the game is the latter, but with elements of the former (as implemented in the Telltale games and others like them, specifically) added—which should work indeed, I think.

My Games & WritingT. Greg Doucette, a New York lawyer who somehow found himself as the law-explainer for nerds, reckons that high score case might not be quite as SLAPPy as it looks. At the very least, the dude bought himself a good legal team.
What's precedent ever done for us?Accidentally stumbling across the Sega Saturn thread made me feel complainy. Sega is sitting on so many IP. I want another NiGHTS into Dreams…, Samba de Amigo, and Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. They're good games but they don't sell 1+ mil easily, so they're not being made.

Breath of Fire ;_;
Capcom is Breath of Fire, Not Sega.
Watch SymphogearVirtua Fighter 6 when
I know, I was just lamenting unused I Ps in general.
While I'm at it: Legacy of Kain ;_;
Suikoden ;_;
Virtua Fighter was the original 3D fighter. It's a shame it's been getting ignored.
Wasn't it infamous for being nearly impossible to learn how to play?
It’s hard
But not impossible
It just means git gud
Tokyo Game Show canceled because of coronavirus; online event planned.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So I've been playing Surviving Mars a lot this week. A friend gave me an extra key, and man... for a game I paid nothing for, it sure hits all my addiction receptors. I was up until nearly 3 AM last night, and although it's earlier tonight, it's still later than I'd prefer.
It's essentially a 4X simulation set on Mars. You have to prepare your colony for the arrival of humans with your drones, then prove they can survive there, then expand and deal with all the crap the game throws at you. Like meteor showers. OMG, meteor showers. The tech to deal with them is way down the tree, so if you get caught early, it's a huge mess.
I'm around Sol 87 now, with about 500 colonists, a third of which are Mars-born, and the aliens are invading. Because of course they are. So now I have to get out my extra strength bug zapper and fight them off. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Unreal Engine 5 announced; fully avalible sometime in 2021 for next gen systems, iOS and Android.
I never knew I wanted a puzzle game where the goal is to get a harem of demon girls until now.
Well, it's not demon girls, but Hunie Pop has an alien.
Would all of their "bits" be considered naughty?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I already played Huniepop and waiting for the sequel.
Oh, and Helltaker has a tvtropes page.
Wondering if the "Double Date" has a set number of girls it can be paired or if they're going the whole hog and doing all of them.
Would certainly explain the delays.
Can't wait for them to do the Rule 34 spin-off, "Hunkie Pop".
Gotta love one of the Steam reviews:

Is it "wrong" to play fighting games but never do special moves?
I've been trying to unlock everyone in Tekken 3, but I can't pull off any moves. The most I get is a few accidental moves from Nina while button mashing. I just kick to win. It's like this with every fighting game I've played— the first four Mortal Kombat games, Street Fighter 2, Virtua Fighter, Sonic the Fighters... Pulling off moves is too hard. I don't even know how to hadouken.
