Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I guess the reason why Revive kills zombies is because it brings life and zombies are technically dead?
VII coming to the Switch on March 27th.
IX coming today.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."It's a shame the Switch doesn't have themes. The one for IX on PS 4 is really nice.
@Isekai discussion last page: I’m surprised that there aren’t more works that use multiple otherworlds. I feel that Magic: The Gathering is the only thing that really does that, with most of the important characters being planeswalkers.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.It's not the most popular game among fans, after all.
It feels like IX has gotten more love over time.
Deservedly so. Zidane is the series' best protagonist bar none.
He's a bit vanilla for me.
Oh come on he's got the three things JRPG protagonists chronically lack; a sense of humor, a simple yet poignant motto, and a libido.
The tail's just a bonus.
His romance is hamfisted and lacks chemistry, he spends so much of the plot irrelevant to whats going on and is led by the nose through the plot and his relationship with Kuja and Garland is half baked.

I can't agree with that.
What part?
The romance with Garnet runs pretty much every tired 90s Tsundere trope to the ground, Zidane literally only is part of the plot because he stumbles into it by accident over and over again and then his backstory as a genome causes such an abrupt shift of character and it gets reset as quickly as it comes.
Zidane is definitely the best protagonist of the post-VI games imo except maybe Cloud (I need to give VII another shake sometime).

This song needs more love.I think Tidus is a much better character over all.
I know he gets a bad rap for the laugh scene (which was intentionally bad) and how much of a goofball he is, but he's got the only well written romance in the franchise and is pretty likeable after he grows up some. And even before with how he gets the Aurochs off their asses.
I disagree that those things were done badly.
Hmm, Cloud was good, Ramza was bland, Squall was insufferable, Zidane was good, Tidus was pretty bland, Vaan even blander, Lightning was insufferable, and I haven't played XV. So, yeah, I agree with
I liked Tidus, but I feel like he got overshadowed. He is interesting, but not as interesting as most others, particularly Yuna.
I agree Tidus for president. One thing that they didn't skimp out on was that he has context and rapport with everyone in his party, his romance with Yuna was endearing and well done and he never stops contributing to the plot even when it is focused more on Yuna's pilgrimage.
Was reading somewhere that VIII was another victim of SE losing the game’s source code and had even less to work with than the other games they lost.
Just like with Kingdom Hearts...
Anyway, remember the infamous orphanage plot twist?
No of course not Tell us more about this Orphanage scene and why its so bad?
VIII is a flawed game in that they wanted to try a bunch of things out, but its still my favorite of the bunch, Squall being the character I relate to more then ... well alot of other characters
Hell what started out as the pitch for VIII turned into Xenogears 'The themes being deemed too HEAVY for what they wanted a mainline FF game to be'
> Was reading somewhere that VIII was another victim of SE losing the game’s source code and had even less to work with than the other games they lost.
That didn't stop them releasing it on Steam though
New theme music also a box
I believe you are correct. It's weird, because a later scene will reference that coin.
