It has been agreed by crowner to merge the Light Novel/ namespace into Literature/.

It has been agreed by crowner that Light Novel examples are to be sorted on trope pages as follows:
- If you're adding an example with LN in mind, place it in Literature.
- If you're adding an example from an Anime/Manga, but unsure if it was present in LN, place it in Anime/Manga.
- If you're adding an example from an Anime/Manga, but know it also happened in the source, place in in Literature.
- If you're adding an example from an Anime/Manga, and sure it did not happen in the source, place it in Anime/Manga even if the work is already listed in Literature.
- If you're moving an example, for example when renaming or handling redirects, and don't know much about other versions, instead just leave it where it was.
- If you know all versions of the work, move examples to the medium they're first featured in.
- Webcomic examples with adaptation go to either Webcomics or Anime/Manga following the above logic.
- Web Serial Novel are still Literature.
- There is to be no dedicated Light Novel folder or subpage on trope pages.
Edge case rulings:
- Due to extreme differences with the original Web Serial Novel, Overlord (2012) will be the hub page for the Overlord Light Novel and its adaptations. Overlord 2010 will cover the WSN.

This has now come up twice in Ask The Tropers in the past year that I know of.
The issue is pretty straightforward: where do we put examples from Light Novels on trope pages?
General options previously proposed:
- Put them in Anime and Manga since they're commonly adapted into them.
- Base things on the original medium, and group them with Literature.
- Take a Third Option and create a Light Novel folder.
Points about this media space that are commonly raised:
- The manga and especially anime adaptations tend to be more available and more familiar to the Western audiences that comprise most tropers.
- The adaptations into manga and anime are usually very faithful Compressed Adaptations, so most trope examples apply to all versions.

Some people said on the thread that "the one troper complained" thing was why they voted to deprecate the namespace but I don't think that anecdote was something most voters cared about. It's unlikely that they follow the thread that closely to begin with.

You are the only person who cares about that. It honestly doesn't matter as the crowner is already stable. I called crowners without waiting the full amount of hours with no issues. In any case, I'll call it when I wake up.

The crowner has been stable for 2 days now and it appears that most of the people that feel strongly about it have already voted. I don't know why people would wait until the day the crowner is called to mass vote...
Anyways, I don't see a need to wait 5 hours for the crowner to turn 168hrs old
Calling crowner in favor of deprecating the LightNovel/ and moving light novel pages to Literature/. A new crowner to decide how LN's should be categorized on trope example lists will be hooked once the options for it have been ironed out .

- Examples from Light Novels works should be placed in Anime & Manga folder on trope pages.
- If the work has an Anime or Manga adaptation, its example should be placed in Anime & Manga folder on trope pages, and go with the highest upvoted option between Light Novels and Literature.
- If there are examples specific to the adaptation, allow using Anime & Manga folder for adaptation-exclusive events even if there are other examples in Light Novels or Literature.

Well, I'd assume that the light novels without adaptations would still get listed on Literature which is what is what happens already sometimes. I think that option should be refined but I'm not sure how to do that.

- Examples from Light Novels can go in Anime & Manga media category only if the Anime or manga is the primary worknote , otherwise they go in the Literature category.
- Examples that are specific to a particular media adaptation go in the folder for the adapted media, while most examples go in the primary media folder.
Illustration for the second: for Haruhi Suzumiya, most examples belong under the Literature media folder, but these two:
- Adaptation Dye-Job: An interesting case. In the original novels, Mikuru had chestnut-brown hair, Yuki had flat-gray hair, and Haruhi's hair was black. In the anime Mikuru's hair became bright orange, Yuki took up a few shades of purple, and Haruhi's hair became brown. But after the anime's release, in the later novels, Ito starts to use brown hair for Haruhi (though she retains Mikuru and Yuki's brown and gray).
- Bowdlerize: "Remote Island Syndrome" is changed from the book through the addition of Kyon's little sister, who in the novel attempted to come along, but was discovered and left at home. Once on the island, the SOS Brigade members avail themselves of as much alcohol as their host can muster, which can't be shown on Japanese TV, since the characters are still in high school. The TV show has them doing things appropriate for the presence of a grade-schooler instead. Minus the murder-mystery part, anyway. Though understandable, if you only watched the anime, it will cause a bit of confusion for the Disappearance movie. The movie is extremely close to the original novel, and even keeps Haruhi's line that went something like, "I'm never going to drink again." As she never drank in the anime in the first place, this creates a bit of a Noodle Incident by Plot Hole. The dub of the movie simply skirts the issue by having Haruhi say that she swore she would never drink ever in her life. (Which, according to the anime, is accurate.)

Which is odd because, even with the story (potentially) being false, there are a number of other arguments against the namespace completely divorced from that. I personally voted to deprecate without even remembering the story was there.
