Superheroes is an egotist-sounding job by default. You (openly or tacticitly) embrace draping yourself in garish outfits and going by grandiose monikers with the celebrity status. The Avengers include a guy dressed in the US flag who is called Captain America.
From a outsider perspective it's pretty easy to see this as "wow these guys are all narcissists".
"All you Fascists bound to lose.""Outsider perspective" i.e. Garth Ennis.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonGarth Ennis is more like a insider perspective but a insider perspective driven by blinding, sheer, unrelenting and inescapable hatred for anything that's not tough manly men making tough manly violence.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Y'know, it would be neat/funny if we get some characters who play the Movie Superheroes Wear Black trope entirely seriously, and we get some fun commentary on that trope vs. having the natural flashy colors of most MCU heroes.
Trust no one.I swear looking at the name "Garth Ennis" makes me think its actually a pseudonym used by different writers
New theme music also a boxI took the "adult orphans" part as a Take That! towards Batman. However, while Jen calling all superheroes narcissists is pretty extreme, considering they literally worked their asses off to save the universe even when half the universe died, she is a lawyer, and dealing with the aftermath of these fights does put a lot on their workload.
Naturally, the comment and overall trailer got flak from people who are already calling this "M SHE U" message wokeness.
Mileena MadnessThe narcissists line in context is also possibly a reference to some clients of hers that we haven't met yet.
Again, it probably wasn’t a morality slam at all. It’s a dig at how flamboyant, larger than life and unrelateable most superheroes are. It’s like if you said something like “going to space is for flashy billionaires” - referencing Musk - in real life.
Keeping in mind especially that Marvel Studios by and large cut out the “superheroes as regular people” angle that famously counteracts this in the comics. We’re only really getting the “everyman superheroes” wave with average people stepping up or getting powers en masse now, whereas before it was just Scott and Peter (with even Peter’s movies constantly being about how he isn’t allowed to be a regular person).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. There definatly seems to be a stealth story arc to the MCU of super powers desseminating down to regular people and even teenagers now.
Ms Marvel is going to be interesting because she is actually going to be only the second teenaged super hero in the MCU? Which is a massive departure from her position in the comics, where the original teen superheroes have long since become adults.
Yeah. That’s why in addition the Young Avenger, I really hope one of their upcoming projects is New Avengers, because one of the big ideas of that team is that trickle down (and because except Wolverine they already have ready access to all the characters involved anyway).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I am starting to get interested in the concept of people with powers yet not wanting to use them to be a hero or villain, just live their lives, which I hope to see a bit from Jen before she embraces her role. Also, the whole superman law division is something I really want to see in detail, just for world-building sakes
Sincerely S Awatching.Something I love about the Marvel comics is that random Joe can have super powers they just never use.
According to Sean Ruecroft, an VFX artist who's worked on Marvel titles like Moon Knight and Spider-Man: Homecoming, there was some Executive Meddling involved with She-Hulk's design.
This sounds eeriely familiar to the situation regarding Luisa Madrigal from Encanto, but their staff won out in the end.
Hiddeous.
Previously I could have put it down to artistic design, but I guess in light of this it's just sexism.

I remember hearing at a film Q&A that The Big Guy in the Raya movie was going to be a woman but that was changed. I suspect it might be related too as well to how MCU America Chavez is a tiny child when the comics version is pretty buff.
Apparently the MCU isn't ready for buff women. I'd like to be surprised but I can't.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.X2: Do you happened to remember if that Q&A was posted somewhere, by any chance? I wasn't aware that was a thing with Raya.
In any case, it's kind of annoying that this is still a thing. I can't shake that comment pointing out that Jen's date somehow has more definition than the current trailer design, as a result.
No problem!

I’ll have to do a more in-depth search later but a basic search isn’t bringing up any video of the event. It was last November.
Shame.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters....isn't She Hulk smaller than Hulk by default? She looks like a pin-up model in every picture I've ever seen of her.
In fact it was a big deal that "Savage She Hulk" was a buff, hulking monster.
Like, buff women look different from buff men, do they not?
I'm pretty sure you can see Jen looking huge compared to her original self, the women she was talking to, and the guy she literally carried off to bed in that trailer.
I don't really see the lack of buffness or them saying "make her smaller [than Hulk who she is already smaller than]." I'm surprised they thought to make her larger.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).She’s almost always been smaller than Bruce’s Hulk but it’s pretty common to have her still be noticeably buffed up in Hulk form. The Dan Slott run even had an arc of her getting even more muscular than before because she realized she got exponentially stronger in Hulk form if she worked out as Jen.
The new Thor movie is the only exception, it seems.
It kinda varies but She-Hulk's transformation generally does make her look more muscular and larger than Jen.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I think people were hoping She-Hulk would be the jolly green giant straight off the bat,but I think it's something she has to build to
