Given the relatively even percentages, I suspect the issue is Trope-Namer Syndrome (it's named after a spell from Dungeons & Dragons) combined with the average user not knowing what "baleful" means (destructive or harmful in effect). Therefore, I am proposing a rename to make the "negative impact" requirement more apparent.
Based on current usage I could also see making "character is turned into something that ends up being useful" and "character is involuntarily turned into something" into tropes if we don't already have them, but the priority is making sure people understand what this trope is supposed to be.

In D&D, Polymorph is a spell usually used on others, not yourself. I'm against naming it that because its an unused word outside of D&D though.

Unused, but not incomprehensible. Poly- is many, and "morph" is change shape. Polyform Other would be another way to generate the same concept without using the exact same word. My only issue with "Involuntary Transformation" and the like is that it feels like a werewolf transformation. Although, to be fair, those are generally considered curses, so would it actually be incorrect if we are expanding the meaning?

Edit: I'm going to copy the current description into a sandbox to use as a starting point for the revised description, since there ought to be parts we can keep when we scrap the parts that refer to the trope as exclusively negative.
Edit: I copied the description to Sandbox.Forced Transformation, but I haven't made any changes yet because I'm too tired to go over it at the moment. I might be able to work on it soon, though, since I finally got around to working on the sandboxes for Uncanny Valley's thread recently.

I made a small amount of changes to Sandbox.Forced Transformation. I'm not entirely sure if any more changes need to be made; it was mainly just one part of the original description that explicitly said the transformations are harmful, so I removed that part and added a bit of text that said transformations can be beneficial or neutral instead of harmful, and made other adjustments to account for the fact that not all examples are harmful.
As a side note, I removed a few instances of the phrase "In fiction" from the description because it's redundant to explicitly refer to fictional examples for a trope that isn't possible in real life.
If nobody objects to the changes, since I didn't think too many needed to be made, I'll move the revised description to Main/ in three days.
