Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes? thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread, as do the self-demonstrating character pages.

I have the sandboxes for S.E.E.S. ready for peer review.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
Not super familiar with Persona 3, but it looks good.
Here I got pinged for trying to cut Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs The Evil Queen Grimhilde. They said I had to go to this thread first. I wanted to cut it because it's less than 40k bytes.
We are the best friends, we stand as one. Whatever life may bring, we are never alone.Yeah, 25K bytes is too short for a CSP so I support cutting and moving the page contents back to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
I did go ahead and fix the voice actors list to fall in line with new policy, so make sure that also gets copied over to the main character page when you move everything back over.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsQuake Ranger has his own page, but it's a very short character page to have its own.
also support moving that one back to main page and cutting. Definitely too short.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorssudrictoon: Yeah cut her. It's not big enough.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIs someone merging back the K Rool page?
Character Specific Page cleanupCrossposting this to the general Character page cleanup thread as well:
All of the following pages were locked at the request of the CSP thread, to assist cleanup shortly after the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as several character-specific pages had been created without going through the usual process.
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – The Spider-Gang
- Spider Man Spider Verse Miles Morales
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Gwen Stacy
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Spider-Society
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Miguel O'Hara
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Supporting Characters
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Antagonists
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – The Spot
I understand that the sandbox cleanup's stalled a bit, and the edits on the other Spider-Verse pages have also slowed down. We've had queries about whether the pages can now be safely unlocked again.
Any concerns if we do unlock them?
I still plan to go through the Miles sandbox because I know that one has a lot of non character page tropes. Otherwise I can go either way.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSomeone should probably put a disclaimer or something to let people know A) the CSP for this series are all being reevaluated and could be merged back B) creating more CSP is discouraged atm
Character Specific Page cleanupI just wanted to let you guys know but I checked ORT’s byte count on the Fate Grand Order page under Lostbelt Villians and they have over 68 thousand bytes so they will definitely need to be looked at.
I also checked Kirschtaria Wodime byte count under the Crypters sub section of the same place and he’s over 54 thousand bytes himself so he’ll need to be looked at as well.
I just wanted to let you guys know.

So are we good to merge back the Evil Queen?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadBumping my post in regards to a few character pages since I still need to fix them and I’m admittedly not good at identifying shoehorns and narrative tropes.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AI believe the Spot is the only one that was made with a proper cleanup so that can stay. The pages for Miles, Gwen, and Miguel, yeah those are without permission, while the rest were made because the Spider-Verse page was too long
I'm happy to help here, but just to check; @Hello 83433, you mentioned you'd cleaned up the voice actors - is the correct info housed on the new page entry for the Evil Queen? (just to make sure I don't use the wrong info).
The correctly formatted version is on her individual page.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsBumping my previous post, as it's a big enough change I want more consensus for it. And just to be sure, it also extends to supporting cast and villains, right? (Although on these there are some In Name Only versions between continuities that might be worth keeping separate).

Filed Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs The Evil Queen Grimhilde for a cut and linked here.
SMBM Bowser was created and while it is big enough at over 40,000 bytes. The page he is originally from SMBM Dark Lands is only 35,351 bytes without him.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadWhy is the name abbreviated?
Character Specific Page cleanupTitles have a 64-character limit, though looking at it, I don't think any of them would surpass the character limit unabbreviated?
Currently working on overhauling the Characters page for The Beginning After the End and I am looking to split Arthur into his own character specific page due to how much space he takes up in the current page. At the moment after having expanded his folder and cleaned up much of the entries there, Arthur's folder has 23808 words, and according to the byte calculator has 135, 463 characters out of 196,075 approx. which in turn becomes 135, 817 bytes out of 196,484 approx. (not counting commented out text at the moment). Is it ok for Arthur to get a characters specific page for himself right now?
Hey - if the main page is very small, and there’s no technical reason to do so, I don’t think moving Bowser is necessary - it just adds another step.
Ok the page I was looking at, is 213,891 bytes, at least according to the byte counter.
Though I was told by another user, the page is too small to be split right now. That is consistent with 500,000 bytes being the moment we split the page.
