• Appearance: A short young man◊ - 5'2'' - with shaggy, platinum-blonde hair tied into a small ponytail, lightly tanned skin and freckles on his round face, and is prominently missing a tooth (he lost it in the bailout that ended up giving him his powers). Thanks to his height, he's sometimes mistaken for a preteen. His dress sense certainly doesn't help - he has a wardrobe full of garishly-brightly-coloured hoodies and t-shirts with quirky patterns, and he's always wearing washed-out jeans or shorts, retro high-tops, fingerless gloves, shades and baseball caps turned backwards. He looks like he crawled out of a mid-90s Burger King commercial. He says he'll design a proper costume 'a year out from two-thousand-never', because he doesn't want to be restricted to one outfit. It 'clips his style' (just ignore the fact that most of his outfits are variations on the same basic look). :V
• Personality: If you thought his dress sense was 'retro', that's just the beginning. Seez is a living throwback in mannerisms as well as looks; a prideful fellow, convinced that he's very cool indeed, and peppers his speech with so much slang he's almost speaking a different language. Although it's not entirely clear what decade it's from, since his slang draws from basically the entire second half of the 20th century along with a lot of stuff he just made up. It's rare to see him not smiling - he seems (key word being 'seems') perpetually laid-back and incapable of feeling shame or sadness; call him a 'weirdo hipster' and he'll probably take it as a compliment. He's definitely a good guy and always means to do the right thing, though he's a bit naive and sometimes his self-centred attitude gets in the way.
• Powers: As his supername (or 'supe-do-nym', as he calls it) might imply, Seez has some Time Manipulation abilities. He can conjure up 'Time Bubbles', which manifest as shimmering spherical forcefields about the size of an elephant - he can summon one where he's standing, or from a distance by simply doing a finger-gun at where he wants to put it - however, he can only have one Time Bubble active at a time. He has control over how time flows within these bubbles - time can go at any speed, forward or backward - and, crucially, it also affects the momentum of any person or object that enters it. Therefore, a slow bubble can be used to break one's fall or slow bullets to harmlessness, while a fast bubble can launch someone at high speed like a slingshot, and a reverse bubble can be used as a 'trampoline' - jump into it and get launched back out the way you came, or propel thrown objects back at the one who threw them. To control time within his bubbles, he must use these hand gestures:
  • Circling Index Finger Clockwise: Speed up!
  • Circling Index Finger Anti-Clockwise: Slow down!
  • Karate Chop: Go forward!
  • Over-The-Shoulder Thumb: Go back!
  • Talk To The Hand: Pause!
• Gear: Seez never leaves home without his skateboard, because of course no 'tubulacious groovemeister' is complete without one - he even has a special 'holster' built into his backpack to hold it. Other items of note include his light-up yo-yo (which can double as a flashlight in a pinch), his seemingly endless supply of bubblegum balls (which he's all too willing to share if you ask nicely), and his extremely chunky box phone which he seems convinced is the cutting edge of technology.
• Backstory: César isn't his birth name - he was Assigned Female at Birth, in the city of Stuttgart, Germany. His mother is an out-of-touch marketing executive and his father is a Spanish-born video rental store owner; for their own reasons, both of them are nostalgia hounds with a general distrust of the modern world, and the 'backsliding' of superhero attitudes is just one part of that. Seez never really related with other kids at school, partly because of this background and partly because of dysphoria. He grew up watching old American teen flicks from the 80s and 90s - part of his dad's vast movie collection - it's where he learned his English from, along with his idea of what a 'cool dude' is like. When he was 13, on a dare from some older kids, he went skateboarding around an abandoned lab - which, back in the 60s, played host to time travel experiments. He bailed in the wrong place at the wrong time, activating some dormant machinery which opened a very brief tear in time-space, assuming the form of a bubble; he was stabbed by a mysterious entity inside the rift before it disappeared, and though he survived, the incident left a mark on him in the form of his power to manipulate time bubbles. His parents, unsure how to deal with this but seeing an opportunity to save their floundering finances through superheroics, scraped together every cent they could to send him off to America - where he'd always wanted to go - and go into the lucrative superhero-ing profession. After arriving, he started living as male full-time and reinvented his whole image, adopting the name César after the protagonist of Surf Luchadores, in honour of his Spanish-born father (no, he didn't know that Luchadores are actually Mexican at the time).
• Miscellaneous:
  • There's a theory going around that he's literally 'slow on the uptake' as a side-effect of his powers, which is why he still hasn't cottoned on that it's the 2020s, his phone went obsolete before he was born and they remade Crash Bandicoot. He dismisses the theory as 'slandwhack', which is like slander but much more whack.
  • He hasn't lived in America for very long - his German accent isn't very thick, but still noticeable.
  • He actually really likes being shown affection. It's his darkest secret.
  • Despite being Totally Radical in basically every other respect, he's not a huge fan of rap or grunge. He prefers trance, electro-funk and acid house. Pacific state, baby. :V

• Appearance: Pollux is quite an unusual sight. He's way bigger than the average teen, being 9 feet and 3 inches tall. He's got a bulky, muscular physique, with a slightly pale complexion. His eyes are of a pale, grayish-blue color. His hair is of medium-short length, swept back and slightly spiky. It's platinum blonde in color, but assumes metallic grey tones near the tips. He's also got a modest teen stubble. His left arm and the upper left side of his chest are covered in iron-colored, geometrically intricate runic markings - which have a metallic/crystalline sheen to them - that converge into a precise spot in his back.
  • Superhero Costume/School Uniform: Pollux wears a grayish-beige, partially-armored top that is asymmetrical: It's only got a loose, robe-like sleeve, the right one, meaning that the left side of both his chest and back and his entire left arm are exposed. The other side of his chest and back is additionally covered by a gray chest piece (with a white rose insignia on it), which is connected to a prominent shoulder pad. He additionally wears grey (with golden rune lines that can glow white) tactical gloves. He lastly wears black cargo trousers with knee guards and black and white boots.
• Personality: Lux, under his towering and intimidating exterior, is actually a big goofball. He likes eating and he likes making friends. He is slightly dumb, academically speaking, but he can be practical and resourceful. He tries to have an optimistic outlook on life, looking towards the future with a smile. He is very caring and protective towards the people he cares the most about and the defenseless people in need of help, to a somewhat 'instinctive' degree.
• Powers or Abilities:
  • Nephilim Physiology: Pollux is a nephilim, a human-angel hybrid. And because of that, his physical attributes - strength, speed, durability - are beyond those of a typical human being. His strength and durability, in particular, are even more exceptional, due to his size. However, his sheer size would make him more exposed to attacks than more average-sized people and ill-suited for certain stealth activities. He's also got three additional powers from the angelic side of his ancestry.
    • The Opalescent Wing: Pollux can make a large appendage emerge from a specific spot on his back (that his runic markings converge into). It is made of small, iridescent, gem-like components that can rearrange themselves to give the appendage different shapes, including (but not limited to) a wing-like shape and a more pointy/sharp one that is akin to a large tendrill. Pollux can also shoot the gemstones from the 'wing'. If the appendage sustains some damage, it will regenerate, a bit slowly, though.
    • The Guardian's Sense: Pollux, with the Guardian's Sense, is able to sense if any people in the vicinity are in danger and pinpointing their whereabouts if that's the case.
    • The Heavenly Plasma: Pollux can conjure a white fiery energy. It is particularly strong against dark and unholy beings/energies. However, excessive use of the plasma will start to burn him, due to his body not being fully angelic and thus not fully suited for this kind of energy.

• Backstory:
  • The circumstances behind Pollux's birth are unknown: one night, the Grigoriani couple was enjoying the sight of the Perseid meteor shower. However, one meteor was not like the others. It burned brighter than the other shooting stars. The shooting star eventually crashed in a woodland nearby. Upon arriving at the site of impact, the Grigoriani couple found, between singed and burned trees and white flames, a bawling newborn that didn't look that much different than a typical human baby, other than the mysterious runes. Since they weren't able to conceive a child of their own, the couple decided to adopt the baby.
  • Pollux was shunned as a kid, mostly because he looked bigger than most children, whether they were Wavers or not. But he didn't let that wear him down: he was an optimist and had the support and love of his foster parents, and some narrow-minded children wouldn't stop him.
  • One day, in a villain attack that involved the school Pollux - who was 14 years old at the time - attended, his powers awakened, and he managed to save a friend dear to him from peril in a critical moment. These new powers were a bit too much for the young Pollux, though, and he lost consciousness.
  • His family and friends were impressed by his heroic deeds and his new powers, and advised him to attend a hero school to gain a better understanding of his mysterious abilities. Pollux eagerly complied to their advice and, with some of their help, started training to enter the Academy.

His outfit would be simple, consisting of a utility belt filled with various weapons, his baseball cap, a denim jacket with numerous patches across it including a large circular purple one on the back with a skull wearing headphones ironed on, as well as the word 'restless' sewn into the right arm and 'Danny Skullbuster' on the left chest area. The outfit would also have black jeans and combat boots.

Personality

Snarky, violent, and unstable, Daniel isn't the type you'd usually peg as a hero in training. However, he really does care for those who manage to get on his good side, and is generally a chaotic good with hints of chaotic neutral, usually dismissing common ideas of good and bad and sticking to his own system of morals and beliefs. He is also a skilled manipulator and if he believes something needs to be done for what he believes is the greater good, he will not hesitate to blur the line between hero and straight-up antihero vigilante.

Backstory

Born into a rather poor family, Daniel didn't have much. This was part of why he was always saving money, hoping one day he'd find the perfect thing to spend it on, and it also might have been a factor in his entertainment of choice: fist fights, but for the most part he had just always been a rather angry person. At 11, Daniel witnessed a member of a local gang murder his mother. After this, his father practically broke, becoming distant and even abusive. During one particularly heated incident, his father came at him with a firepoker, to which Daniel responded by sidestepping and tripping him, then beating him to a pulp. Soon after, the police arrived, questioning Daniel and interrogating him, after which they determined his actions were in self-defense. afterwards, too attached to move somewhere else and too anxious to return home, he was approached by a demon General, who offered him immunity to aging and disease for a cost to be stated at a later date. Being emotionally distraught and already being the reckless type, he accepted without much thought, although he's now quite anxious over what the price may be. He wandered until he eventually found a flyer for applications to the Saint Academy. Determined to make sure people didn't have to go through anything like what he did, he finally found a use for all that money he had saved up, applying to the school and creating his outfit by hand. Now all he's got left to deal with are criminals, his temper, and homework...

It probably looks like I barely addressed it but that's only because it really was that quick when it happened. The demon could just tell he was vulnerable and Daniel was stupid and accepted a deal with unfair terms.

• Real Name: Dario Knight and Dohr'Mahn

• Superhero Name: Gateway

• Age: 16/Several negative ten thousands of years old, it's hard to tell precisely.

• Race: Human/Eldritch Being

• Appearance: Dario himself, standing near 5'5". When Dohr'Mahn decides to manifest physically, he often appears as a photo-negative coloured version of Dario.

• Personality: Dario is an extremely curious sort, always the type to stop and smell the roses, and then look for photo opportunities around said roses. He can be pretty impulsive and spontaneous, though he's by no means impatient. He's got an eye for detail, and is extremely perceptive. Given his overreliance on his ability to memorize things he's seen, he's book smart but absolutely not street smart, a trait that when mixed with his curiosity, often ends up with him getting into trouble.
  • Dohr'Mahn is much more passive in his curiosity, often preferring to watch the roses rather than smell them. He's well and truly amoral, doing things according to his (often strange and alien) whims, though he's smart enough from his millennia of existence to know better than to try and intentionally cause trouble. Rather, he prefers to "play around" as it were, not angering the greater powers that be like heroes or others in an effort to keep a peaceful, undisturbed life. Needless to say, he's not all that keen on Dario being a superhero, but he's rolling with it.

• Powers:
  • Door Creation/Manipulation: With Dohr'Mahn being an eldritch abomination associated with doors, his possession of Dario gives Dario the ability to create and open any door of any style, literal and metaphorical, to anywhere real or unreal. He needs the space to create the door, obviously, and objects that go in one door come out the other door in the same proportions as they went in. So if someone was 90% as tall as the entry door, they would come out the other being 90% as tall as that one. The doors need not be grounded, and can be opened and closed remotely.

  • Possession: If for some reason Dario is incapacitated or otherwise wants to not deal with whatever is at hand, he can hand over control to Dohr'Mahn, who will use Dario's body as his own, with far greater ruthlessness and power over using doors. The signifying marker of Dohr'Mahn's active possession is possessed person's eyes going negatively coloured as well as an ethereal calm boom quality to his voice. By using a "door" into the view/mind of another, Dario/Dohr'Mahn can possess a single other being at a time, though Dario is heavily opposed to using this power.

  • Visual Recall: Dario's own innate power, he's able to perfectly remember any place or thing he's ever seen in precise detail. That's it really. He still likes to take photos to share the memories with others.

• Gear: Dario always carries his camera around with him, for taking snapshots when the opportunity arises. It's a pretty high quality one too, months of saving up his allowance to afford the thing at all.

• Backstory: Dario is a lifelong resident of Super City, knowing the streets and alleyways like the back of his hand. His family is relatively good-enough-off, living in a neat apartment complex in one of the less busy parts of the city, though by the way he wandered the streets every opportunity he could get, one would be mistaken for thinking he was some central city slicker street kid, poking his nose into every nook and cranny. This only got worse once he picked up his habit of photography, the young teen mostly wandering around in his free time to look for inspiration.
  • Of course this got him into his fair share of trouble, but none more memorable than his encounter with the Followers of The Universal Gate. After ducking into what he thought was an abandoned building for a potential photo op, Dario instead came across an occult ritual, trying to summon the great eldritch being of doors, Dohr'Mahn. Outnumbered and swiftly overpowered, Dario was taken as a sacrificial vessel for Dohr'Mahn's summoning. However, the old abomination was wise to the ways these things go, and rather than become some great evil unleashed, instead prompted a deal with Dario. Dohr'Mahn would let him retain active control, in exchange for Dohr'Mahn essentially piggybacking on Dario's consciousness to see the mortal world, an opportunity he rarely ever had. Obviously, Dario took this deal, angering the cult. With no idea what to do now, he panicked, everything going black as Dohr'Mahn took over. When Dario came back to his senses, the cultists were nowhere to be found.

  • After that, Dario did the one thing anyone would do after realizing that people like that caused trauma to dozens of others and that he now had superpowers over doors. He decided to become a superhero, which conveniently also gave him some prime opportunity for action shots. He trained his martial skills, and decided to enroll in the prestigious Saint Academy.

Superhero Name: Silver Bullet

Appearance:Catch up!◊ Wiry and somewhat short with a swimmer’s build. He has dark green eyes and buzz-cut reddish hair (he thinks it makes him faster but it doesn’t). His fingers and nose are a little crooked and broken from practicing running. Usually wears green work pants, a gray hoodie, a dark purple shirt with the number 13 on the front and black boots with flames painted on them.

Personality: While he has a bit of a laze-fair attitude when it comes to the law, nonetheless Rab has a firm line on crime and what is acceptable. Robbing a bank? Sure. Pretending to be a hero to defraud others? Possibly. Experimenting on people without consent or decent aftercare? Nope! Seeing people get beaten up for their daily bread has instilled in him a real sense of compassion for others and he’ll always try to help out people where he can even if it’s an unpopular idea. While his powers have made him more confident and cockier Rab’s still unsure of himself and what it means to now have these powers. He also doesn’t have a lot of trust for people who fully embrace heroism or villainy, and little understanding or liking for magic.

Powers:

Kinetic Absorption: Rab can take in the energy of an impact and store that power to fuel his speed. While this lets him hit harder than a normal person, it also means he can survive blows that would injure or kill a normal human. Sufficiently powerful beings or hits can overwhelm his limits and still injure him, though. He can build up a small pool of power from, say, punching the wall, but it won’t keep him going for nearly as long as something from an outside source. He also heals slightly faster than a normal human (more if he sleeps).

Superspeed: Robert is very fast, able to reach speeds of up to 113 mph at present. However, his reflexes aren’t quite as far yet, meaning he can burn through straightaways but must slow way down for corners or in unfamiliar areas, and if he trips will probably go down hard. Likewise, he can fight at a high rate of speed (think Bruce Lee but he daren’t go faster for fear of really hurting someone and to be able to fight accurately) but his focus will only be on the person he’s facing and he can be blindsided and must consciously think about “switching” to running superfast.

Magic Disruption:Spells or magic directed at him just won't work for better or worse (unless they're quite powerful). It's nothing he can control or practice to improve (as far as he knows). It doesn't confer any kind of invulnerability (unless it does).

Skills: Knows how to box and handle himself in a fight. Has a good working knowledge of local crime and the supervillain politics in the city.

Gear: A LOT of shoes and a pair of brass knuckles. When in his suit he carries various small disruption devices such as smoke bombs, iron nails,a small silver-bladed knife.

Backstory: Rab is honestly unsure who his parents might be, but he has suspicions. Regardless, he was raised by a rotating group of henchmen at the Curved Cube, a combination bar/”hideout” for science-based hirelings.

It was a weird life. One day he might be awoken by someone fiddling with a raygun and be invited to watch and learn. Next, he could be taught how to kick an opponent accurately in the knee. The following day would be math homework and chicken fried rice with Monsterman and his Cruel Crew. Rab grew up seeing costumed crime as just another job you could learn to do if you practiced the right skills. Obviously, there was turnover with prison and the occasional death, but them’s the risks. More dangerous and unpredictable supervillains were largely blacklisted by the majority of the people. It wasn’t an official union, of course, but the next best thing and only the worst baddies were willing to piss off the people who worked as their security, entertainment, getaway drivers, food delivery, etc.

Rab completed grade school and barely high school, but he already knew what he wanted to do with his life-wear a costume and make money. But there was a hitch. None of the people who had raised him agreed with this goal, and the arguments were loud and violent. “He was just a kid!” “He wasn’t ready for the big time!” Then a brilliant idea was hatched-they’d set him up with a great career, all right-as a hero. To that end, various items of gear and a costume were stolen from forgotten hideouts and villains who had “retired”. He was even injected with a leftover portion of a super-serum from Dr. Ignoble’s defunct World Warriors scheme (He was assured that it was totally reversible and the powers were very expected. This is largely BS).

He’d become a hero, they reasoned, and so be able to have the life of adventures he deeply desired while free from the burdens of crime and fear that ruled their lives. Rab would be their chance to do something right, to balance out their own dark deeds. And having a hero in your corner could be useful. But how to ensure he was taken as legit? Favors were called in and chips cashed, and at the end of the day, perfect documents emerged to identify him as the undeclared offspring of Cecilia Scarlotti, a deceased hero who went by Lightfoot. No one could prove it wasn’t true, since Cecilia had died in some cosmic event three years before, and she had been a very private individual.

Rab survived several criminal incidents, both staged and real (set up to "sell" him as a science hero fighting magic), before being contacted by the Academy. He’s 99% sure they’ve bought his story.

Miscellaneous: He can juggle. When he runs or has his power going bright teal energy plays about his body.

Real Name: Leo Boone

Superhero Name: Karma/"The Red King" to The Silent

Age: 16

Race: Human

Appearance: A black kid around 5' 6". Has short, brown, curly hair. Along with these he has brown eyes, or well, he used to. Once his powers emerged both changed to the color red. Has a red jacket with a black version of The Silent Sigil, an eye surrounded by five swords representing the Five Monarchs, on the back. Wears a black shirt under the jacket with a red version of The Silent Sigil on the front. Black pants with red highlights, has the same sigil in the location a brand logo would normally be. Red shoes with black highlights, has the sigil on the back of the shoe.

In "battle mode" his clothes morph into a red, wizard style cloak with black armor underneath, including a helmet. The cloak still has the sigil, but it disappears from everywhere else.

Personality: Leo's a pretty clever kid with a love for videogames, tv, books, and other such time wasters. Above all this though, is Leo's moral compass. Leo has a natural instinct to try and help others, a desire which tends to supersede all other instincts and desires. When he's not going out of his way to save lives, Leo is a pretty calm person with a slight sarcastic streak.

Powers:

Skills: The Red King is a master swordsman, a polyglot, master magician, has several PH Ds, and other such ridiculous skills. Leo will inherit these skills eventually, but that's probably years away. Right now, Leo can use the swordsmanship skills, some magic, and has the polyglot abilities.

Gear: His clothes are actually enchanted gear created by The Silent that give him the ability to fly, and morph into a "battle mode" when he wills it.

Backstory: Leo himself is a pretty normal person. He was born in and grew up in Super City. He lived day to day doing what everyone else did. But Leo isn't the first version of himself to walk the Earth. Leo is merely the latest incarnation of an ancient being known as "The Red King." The Red King was one of the founding members of an organization known as "The Silent," who have watched over the world from the shadows, preventing various threats since ancient times. The Silent recently became public knowledge after the organization helped Shade, a pretty big name superhero, prevent an ancient evil escape from his prison. This new public direction is controversial in the organization to say the least, leading to significant conflict, especially among the Five Monarchs, rulers of The Silent. Some believe that The Red King, as the last member of the Five Monarchs who hasn't voiced his opinion yet, is the only one who can reunite the organization. Leo is nowhere near ready for that, and the situation isn't severe enough to force him yet, so for now that's nothing to be concerned about.

Leo awakened to his powers pretty recently. Initially this was a pretty distressing experience, mainly because of the fact he was hearing everyone's thoughts. Luckily, a member of The Silent found him, and pretty quickly figured out what happened. This member gave Leo just enough training to control when his powers were off or on, gave him his new gear, and set him up with a connection to Shade. Before Leo and the member parted ways, he told Leo in no uncertain terms that he must not push himself past the point his powers make his skin starting burning or "Your body will literally disintegrate." With this bit of information Leo was left with Shade who lacking a better idea of how to deal with the kid, decided to pull some strings to get him into the Academy.

Miscellaneous: All of his powers give off a red glow from the part of the body the power emits from, in the case of telepathy it's the head. Leo's parents and younger brother are still alive, albeit the exact details of what Leo is are being kept under wraps for now. Most of The Silent aren't aware of The Red King's return, in fear that they might force him into pushing himself too far. In particular, The White King is being kept out of the loop by the Black Queen and Blue King. The Green Queen probably knows, but is way too flippant to tell.
