Seems like a quick issue, so opening.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNote that the term "Americanitis" has a common meaning outside this wiki, which is basically a nervous breakdown due to excessive tension. It would make sense to base the redirect on that.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! But it was never used on the wiki in that meaning.
Especially not in inbound links, which I suspect are the reason the redirect was kept in these days where the tendency is to cut.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Disambiguate, then.
I'm back!Disambiguate, yes.
Funnily enough, the image to Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change and the quote to Cultural Translation are the same.

I'd like to apologize for all this.Edit: Never mind, unless if that's a problem.
I am good with disambiguating, though!

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessPatiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Okay, done.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I don't think it's necessary to point out, on a disambig page, that this formerly meant X or was merged into Y.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Isn't Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change a more complain-y version of Cultural Translation?
I think they're distinct enough. Cultural Translation is when culture-specific aspects of the original work— such as dialogues, proverbs and terminology—are translated in such a way that is easier to understand by the new audiences (but not necessarily the most accurate translation). Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change is when they change the setting of the work to fit the target audience's location without changing any of the cultural aspects to make the switch believable.

I agree with this. The entries on the disambig page need a re-write to focus only on the definition of the tropes.
I'd like to apologize for all this. And lose an important piece of TV Tropes history? I won't cause an Edit War over this, but I won't be the one doing it.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."What "important piece" of history would we be losing, exactly? That something was merged into another thing? There are other pages to note that.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDisambiguation pages can host information on the previous history of the name. No idea why you would think otherwise.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanObviously they can, but in this particular case it would be clearer and more concise (and equally witty) if it didn't.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I have no stake in this personally; I just wasn't sure what sort of "wiki history" they were concerned about losing.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessClock is ticking!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAll that's left is deciding whether we should keep the "The original meaning of the Americanitis page before the merge." commentaries or not.
Berrenta, would you mind giving us your two cents?
I'd like to apologize for all this.I'm fine with that.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThen I guess this can be closed.
I'd like to apologize for all this.OK, closing.

Currently "Americanitis" is a redirect to Cultural Translation, but as I remember it it was more used for Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change.
When Americanitis was changed into a redirect, Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change didn't exist yet; I suggest making the redirect point to this trope now that it's here.
