The attacks let loose all land square on their mark—the automaton reels back from where Bizu-kun stands, hissing and clanking. For a moment it seems like it’s worked... only for a hatch on its back to suddenly deploy an arsenal of firearms. Perhaps better stated as “the spider has fuckin’ guns”.

A dull, automated voice from within it goes: Executing ordinance. Selecting target.

The hinge of the automaton’s mouth drops open, revealing what appears to be some kind of oversized laser sight—it locks on to the gathered crowd.

If this unit is not neutralised within 10 turns, inmates will be terminated.

The automaton raises one of its razor-covered legs and sweeps low at Lo Wang, Sierra, and Boboibot.

Nin-Ken, K

Observe the situation (4, 6)

Nin-Ken would quickly pick up on the fact that with the guns out, part of the automaton’s insides are now exposed. The question comes with how you’d manage to reach that bit without getting shot yourself...

K, on the other hand, is so observant that he’s drawn in by the enticing secrets of life, the universe, and everything, and briefly passes out, waking up three and a half seconds later with nothing but one beast of a migraine.

Lo Wang gets just barely missed by the skin of his teeth. Whether the others have made it, he can’t see right now, but it appears that the automaton can no longer attack him at least for this turn. Better make the most of it.

The rounds, again, hit their mark. Or so you thought. They’re actually just bouncing off of the spider’s shell, but don’t tell her that.

Search for a weapon (5) (forgot to process this one, whoops)

Kennifer discovers a torch mounted on the wall. Why the hell is there a torch on the wall if there’s running electricity in this place? I dunno, you tell me. Aside from that, she finds a whole bunch of (drumroll) paintings. Framed ones. Inside the lockers on the far side of the room.

Well, as some sentient art materials once said, “be creative”.

Dale, despite his best efforts to move his feet faster than a clicking pistol shrimp taking a course on African languages, doesn’t have this end very well for him.

The machine guns swivel around a good 360 and aim.

Not quite sure what to do with the paintings yet, Kennifer decides to try and grab the torch off the wall instead; she figures it's got to be there for some kind of a reason, and if not, it's the best thing she's found so far to try and defend herself with.

K somehow manages to run faster than the firing speed of your average machine gun. He has considerably more success at this than say, Dale over there.

Use electricity against the automaton (5!!)

Edgar and Na-Rae coordinate whatever electricity powers they apparently possess and successfully reroute an attack straight into the automaton. It spasms for a second, then stops moving completely.

Huh. Looks like it's... overloaded? It was right in the middle of shooting Dale, but now doesn't seem to be able to do much, other than twitching.

Lo Wang

Go absolutely apeshit on your shotgun (free action)

Lo Wang unloads his entire shotgun on the automaton. The rounds are promptly deflected, one of which shoots him in the foot.

Kennifer

Take the torch (free action)

In the midst of all this chaos, Kennifer takes the torch.

It is, indeed, a very torchy torch.

Bizu-kun

Sweep the automaton's legs out from underneath it (4)

Bizu hefts his massive hammer, which definitely conforms to the laws of physics, and makes a single heaving stroke for the incapacitated spider. It's a heavy blow, but it works—the automaton's been upturned, its guns squished uselessly under its back. That was surprisingly quick. The weak point Nin-Ken noticed appears to be in full view.

The automaton is prone and cannot attack.

Punch the weak spot (3), slam the automaton (4)

Bizu-kun, meanwhile, succeeds in ramming down the metal surrounding the weak point. It hasn't done anything yet, but the coast is clear to destroy whatever's in there.

Said thing is already on the ground, so K mostly just ends up damaging its legs more. That might keep it from getting up until you figure out how to disable it.

Kennifer

Perhaps that exposed spot Bizu-kun just cleared out with his fists could be it...?
