What's with the weird insistence on calling him Robert, though?
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Bob doesn't like being referred to that way, so his detractors do.

Just a person. He/him.It's a thing I see a lot with Internet celebs, that people who don't like them use their real names, or an old handle.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger. What the actual fuck, OB?
Ukrainian Red CrossThat's a drive-by trolling, folks. Just holler it and move on.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'm surprised this thread hasn't experienced more drive by trolling to be honest, dude has a very active hatedom
New theme music also a boxIt's only been up for a couple of days.
Anyway, Bob reviews The Trial of the Chicago 7. He says it's a mediocre movie that had a lot of potential, but squandered it. His own politics are on full display.
Now I just disagree with him on a technical level. There actually may be some Reality Is Unrealistic here because the judge did do all those things in the film, so Frank Langella portraying him the same way he did Skeletor fit just the cartoonish level of bias present. All the actors gave good performances, and well, all of these things happened in Broad Strokes.
As the film stands now, the critical reviews are calling for it to be a major contender come award season, and I can easily see why.

And here's what he thinks of the just-released sequel to Borat. He's really justifying his tax-deductible Netflix account.

Ukrainian Red CrossThat's weird coz Borat is on Amazon prime. I need to learn his trick.
@Rynnec: I can understand why you'd be hesitant, he does go to far sometimes, like he said he "hopes it never gets better" to a mining town that voted for Trump. But seeing how Conservatives, (especially Republicans) in the United States treat others especially people who are his close friends or colleagues I can understand why he wants to give some of that bile right back at them.
Edit: Forgot the @ symbol.

METAL GEAR!?At once, there is the need to be better and at the same time the thought that that may have restrained the left from effectively fighting back.
Which falls flat when you believe in the exact same rhetoric your enemies do. When you believe it's "the working class" that's the problem yet still claim yourself a lefty, there's a problem.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterExcept he doesn't have a problem with the working class, just the ones who go out of their way to hurt others in poverty or the working class by allying themselves with certain Rich people whos bigotry agrees with their own and promises to hold them down. I've been in pretty bad financial shape before and as a young child lived in a trailer park for a time and I would still hold some asshole who screamed at interracial or gay couples in the park accountable for their actions.
I don't know if you've seen a lot of Moviebob's stuff, but he has a lot of sympathy for those in poverty, not so much for white people who use their "working class" status to attack "big city elites", (really anyone insufficently Christian, White, Straight or Male). He explains some of that in a really old Game Overthinker episode I think.
METAL GEAR!?Aaah Moviebob inserting himself in a Twitter conversation with Lindsay Ellis while posting a 10 year old selfie of himself with her at some con, her telling him off and now getting harassed by his fans for publically telling him off when he's the one who made him public.. Apparently it's not even the first time he's done this...
Yeaaah, I was kind of expecting something like that to happen: over all the years I've been following Bob on Twitter, he often talked about how Lindsay was his friend and colleague, how he admired her work, etc. but during that time I think she responded to any of his Tweets or mentioned him in any way *maybe* once.
Just a person. He/him.A textbook parasocial relationship if there ever was one.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAlso, Bob accusing her of "borderline gaslighting" him sounds like grade-A victim-blaming. :/
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I can't say I think this reflects that well on either of them. I don't follow people on twitter so I have no idea what's been said by either of them before, but I'm willing to trust Ellis if she says he's made her uncomfortable in the past, so I'm not saying she's out of line to tell him to back off. Well within her rights, even with lighter reasons, really.
Yet, rather than making this into a public thing, when she has a lot of fans and has been talking against online harassment for a while now doesn't sit right with me either, doubly when the other side is someone who's been a target of hate mobs before (and whether those mobs have been in any way justified doesn't matter either). It's applying sympathy to even those who we don't like where these principles gets tested.
I mean what is this "soft blocking" stuff? If he's being inappropriate, block him and if you want to be crystal clear about it, send a private message about it first, then block. If even that's not enough, then sure, public statement time but even then I'd prefer something more neutral than "you're creepy dude", because that kind of a statement has its own problems as well.
Lindsay feels she needs to be public about it, because Bob implying they were friends caused her to be harassed by his many anti-fans.
I'm going to need someone to explain to me what soft-blocking is, though.

Apparently it's when you block someone and then immediately unblock them. The idea is to stop them following you without making it obvious.
Lindsay says she's done this a few times. She should probably just block Bob completely, but that probably still wouldn't do anything about his haters.
...
If someone were to break into Twitter HQ and smash up their servers with a baseball bat, little of value would be lost.
Ukrainian Red CrossYeah, that doesn't seem all that effective. Youtube mysteriously unsubscribes people all the time, so if you are honestly clueless about what you might have done to cause offence, it's really easy to assume that some mistake was made.
From where I'm sitting, she really should've just blocked him rather than leave him any room for his delusions.
I'll just agree with him and say that I'd rather not have a thread that promotes someone with such views.
